#2 of The Protector

Second part of the Protector series. Little bit longer than I wanted but it seemed to flow pretty well. Let me know what you think.

The trek up the mountain was a little strenuous. The footing was bad in some places and the wind didn't help any. Luckily about halfway up, they found a path that lead straight up. Merriot let out a sigh as they finally reached the top.

"I don't know how the other Sybil's made it all the way up here. That was exhausting."

Devil let out a chuckle before he felt Masamune quiver a little. Turning around, he saw an altar in the middle of a large clearing. Scattered around the altar were tons of bones, tiny bits of clothing appeared to be clung on them. The large slab on top of the altar appeared cracked as large lines could be seen.

"That's not a pleasant sight," Devil grimaced.

"I bet these are the other Sybil's that sacrificed themselves. What a horrible fate," Merriot shivered.

"Welcome Star Sybil. I've been expecting you."

The winds picked up around them as the phantasmal appearance of a skeletal dragon's head appeared over the altar. It's empty black eye sockets began to fill with blue fire as it looked down on the duo.

"So, the time has come for the sacrifice has it? And this time, it's a female. How wonderful for a change of meat."

"There will be no more sacrifices Fafnir. Today, you will die," Merriot said firmly.

Fafnir laughed at that before smiling.

"Silly girl. Your power may be boosted by the blood moon, but you are eons away from my power."

"That may be. But it won't stop me from trying."

"Try all you like. You can't hurt me. I'll let you entertain me before I devour your body, just like the other ones. Or do you prefer I take over your body and have your friend there kill you?"

Devil let out a growl and stepped in front of Merriot.

"If you want a body to take over, use me."

Merriot let out a gasp at what he said.

"Devil, what are you saying?"

He looked back at her and gave a soft smile.

"When he takes over my body, use that opportunity to kill him. I don't know how long I'll be able to keep my mind."

"I won't do that. You made a promise to me remember?" Merriot whined.

Devil walked over to her and lifted his paw to caress her cheek.

"You'll only get one shot. Make it count."

Turning back around, he walked forward before stopping short of the altar as Fafnir looked at him.

"I smell your scent. It is not from this world."

"And neither are you," Devil replied back.

Fafnir chuckled before grinning.

"Do you think she will actually kill you to kill me?"

"I trust her to do the right thing."

"Very amusing. Let us see what transpires."

Fafnir's blue, flaming eyes began to glow a dark orange before opening its mouth. A dark fog was expelled before it began to converge towards Devil. Devil stood there, waiting for the inevitable to happen. The fog circled him as he began to shiver feeling something starting to take over his mind. Just before the fog could cover him completely, Dinaden appeared and pushed Devil out of the way.

"Finally, the power of Fafnir will be mine."

The fog covered him completely as lightning began to strike the ground around them. A black tornado covered Dinaden's body as he could be heard yelling in pain. Devil got up and ran towards Merriot as she held him. The image of Fafnir disappeared causing the altar to split down the middle. Once the winds and lightning calmed down, they looked to see Dinaden on one knee.

"At last, I'm free."

Dinaden stood up, his eyes opening showing the blue fire.

"After a thousand years, I'm finally free. And this body doesn't seem all that bad either," he said, flexing a muscle.

He raised both hands to the sky causing lightning to crash around him as Merriot and Devil covered their faces. The clouds swirling around the mountain began to expand. As it stretched out, the plant life began to wilt and die.

"Now then Star Sybil," he said, turning his attention to them. "Shall we see if you can keep your word about killing me?"

"I will not fail. There will be no more sacrifices," Merriot growled as her fur began to become a blaze with white fire, the red tips of her tails glowing also. "Today, you will die!" She turned to Devil and smiled at him. "Will you help me Devil?"

"Do you even need to ask?" Devil smiled, drawing Masamune and taking a stance.

//////

Noel watched the sky, seeing the dark clouds beginning to come closer and closer.

"Did she fail? Please tell me she didn't?"

Sun hurried in, her tails glowing white.

"He's been released!! Fafnir has been released."

"Dear god. Then that cloud belongs to him?"

"Yes. Whatever that cloud touches, it will bring ruin."

"Can you keep it at bay?"

"I can, but I don't know for how long."

"Do what you can. I'll tell the guards to bring all the villagers to the temple."

Sun nodded before taking a seat on the pillow. She took a deep breath before closing her eyes. She held up two fingers in front of her muzzle before chanting softly. Her tails responded, glowing brighter as a barrier formed around her and started to expand. It grew larger by the second before it completely covered the temple and the town. When the cloud hit the dome, Sun could feel the immense power behind it making her shiver but she held her ground. She didn't know how long she could last, but she would try, for everybody's sake.

///////

Fafnir chuckled as he took a couple of steps towards them. With each step he did, black, miasma like clouds puffed up like gas. He held his hand up, palm open as a dark fog appeared. When it disappeared, he was holding a giant, curved obsidian sword. The handle appeared to be a skeleton's hand holding the wicked curved blade.

"So Star Sybil, how do you want to do this?" Fafnir smiled.

Devil never faced anything like this as his mind was trying to figure out what the hell to do until something popped into his head.

"Merriot, I'm going to try and keep him occupied. While I do that, try and find an opening to hit him with."

"Okay," Merriot said with a nod.

Devil could see she was just as scared as he was. He knew only one spell that could work, but it was risky to do. Merriot watched as Devil's hand moved quickly in the air beside him.

"Devil, what are you doing?"

"You'll see," Devil responded with a smile.

When he was finished, his body began to blur as five copies of him appeared. Fafnir raised an eyebrow in amusement.

"Impressive. You have interesting magic."

"Devil.....I didn't know you could do that," Merriot said surprised herself.

"It's a defensive spell called Utsusemi, which makes copy images of the user. Its used to confuse and mislead enemies. Each image of me is suppose to disappear when touched, giving me time to escape from a bad situation. Its not really meant to be used this way so I had to add some adjustments to it," Devil said with a smile.

"What kind of adjustments?"

"I gave each image part of my life force. Meaning, I will feel every blow they take. It's the only way to ensure I do the most damage as fast as possible. If you see an opening to attack him, take it. I don't care if it hits me. Don't hesitate or we'll both be killed. Do you understand?"

"But......I can't..."

"Here we go," Devil grinned before they all took off towards Fafnir.

Fafnir stood ready as each image of Devil attacked him head on. He smiled as he deflected and dodged each attack with ease, even with the speed that Devil was coming at him with. Merriot watched with wide eyes before focusing on the task at hand. Fafnir's defense was almost perfect, even with all of Devil's attacks. But she did, for a brief second, find an opening. Using the chance she got, her hand got covered with white fire before it travelled with great speed on the ground towards him.

"Not good enough," Fafnir growled, pushing his hand forward as dark fog emerged as collided with Merriot's attack.

It easily overpowered her attack and surged towards her. She let out a gasp and braced herself for the attack, putting up a defensive shield. When the fog hit the shield, her knees buckled, feeling the immense power behind it. Her shield didn't last long as it shattered. Before she could be swallowed up, Devil appeared and grabbed her out the way.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes. He's strong," she said.

"I noticed," Devil grimaced, holding his shoulder as the fur appeared to be burned as she gasped. "Keep trying Merriot. We'll get him."

The fight raged on, Devil and Merriot giving it all they had as Fafnir didn't even seem to be breaking a sweat, and appeared to even be getting bored. His blue flamed eyes turned a dark orange before letting out a roar as his power expanded like a shockwave, knocking everybody back.

"I enjoyed the first few moments of this fight, but now its getting boring. So without further ado, I must end this. There's a world out there that needs to be controlled."

Devil got to one knee, leaning on Masamune and breathing heavily. All of his images had cuts or burns on them making his body hurt all over. He tried everything his master taught him but it seemed like nothing was working. Merriot was on her knees whining softly as parts of her kimono were burnt. Fafnir walked closer to them, a smile on his face. Devil's images stood up, ready to attack on a moment's notice.

"How long do you plan to draw out this futile struggle?" Fafnir sighed. "Maybe it's time I showed you my true power."

He held up his sword in the air as lightning crashed down him. The blade began to glow a dark red before he pointed it at them.

"It's my turn to attack. Are you ready?"

He flew at them with unreal speed, striking each one to the ground making Devil whine as the pain started to build up. Fafnir struck the last image down before stepping on its head.

"Is this all you have wolf?" he chuckled, grinding the image's head harder into the ground as blood started to come down the side of Devil's face.

Devil felt like his head was going to be crushed. Gritting his teeth, he made a quick kanji causing the images to disappear in a puff of smoke. Fafnir walked over and lifted Devil easily by the neck, dragging his sword slowly across his cheek fur.

"Any last words?"

"Yeah. Before you destroy the world, do you think you could brush your teeth? A thousand years without mouthwash has your breath rank," Devil said with a forced smile.

Fafnir's eyes blazed angrily as he tightened his grip, choking the life out of Devil. A blazing wall of white fire came between them making him jump back and release his hold on Devil's neck. Merriot walked through the fire, a snarl on her face as her tails fanned out.

"I've had enough of you!"

"Really now Sybil? And just what do you intend to do?"

"Whatever it takes to stop you."

She raised both her hands in the air as the wall of fire behind her grew bigger before forming two dragon heads. Pointing towards him, they converged quickly upon Fafnir who raised an eyebrow. Black, smoke like wings appeared on his back before he took off into the air, dodging the fire serpents. He made a bad move as they coiled around him, burning the clothes Dinaden was wearing. The dragons started to turn red before they exploded, sending Fafnir back to the ground with a loud bang. Merriot let out a sigh before turning to Devil and hurrying over.

"Are you okay Devil?" she asked.

"Kind of hard to swallow, but I'll live," Devil replied rubbing his throat. "Did you get him?"

"I think so," she said, looking back at Fafnir's prone form on the ground. "Can you stand?"

Devil nodded as he stood up on shaky legs. They both turned and started to walk off before Devil felt an evil presence coming closer at a fast pace. Not even hesitating, he pushed Merriot out the way and turned, only to let out a grunt as that curved blade drove into his body. Fafnir gave a grunt before pulling his sword out with a wet slurp as blood spilled out.

"You have good senses wolf. I was hoping to get the Sybil."

Devil fell backwards onto the ground, blood pooling around him. Merriot let out a scream as she rushed over to him.

"Devil!! Oh god, hang in there," she whined, putting pressure on the wound.

"I got careless again," Devil chuckled weakly, his eyes starting to get heavy as he loss blood fast.

"You can't die Devil. You promised me," Merriot cried.

Fafnir watched with a smile, licking the blood off the sword as his eyes widen.

"A human!? No wonder your scent was strange. No matter. In the end, you did make a sacrifice."

He held his hand up as a dark ball appeared, growing bigger by the second.

"I'll enjoy devouring both of your bodies like steak. And I love my steak well done."

He tossed the ball towards them, the heat from it melting the rock of the mountain. Merriot covered Devil's body, tears in her eyes as she let the inevitable happen. Devil had his eyes closed, still hanging on by a thread.

"Are you just going to give up like that?" a voice said to him.

"Who are you?"

"Do you want to live?"

"That's a dumb question to ask," Devil said with irritation.

"Then merge your soul with me. Together, we'll banish this abomination."

Devil opened his eyes to see Masamune glowing brightly. He reached for it, grabbing the sheath as power surged through him as his eyes glowed. The dark ball converged on them, causing an explosion that shook the ground as Fafnir laughed.

"Mmm, well done Star Sybil. I can't wait."

He didn't take two steps before the smoke was blown away making him cover his face. Once the smoke was clear, he saw two white wings. They uncurled as the owner turned around, holding Merriot in his arms.

"Impossible. Nothing should have been able to survive that."

"Sorry to disappoint you," Devil said with a smile.

Merriot stirred in his arms before looking up at him. He gave her a smile before placing her on the ground. She looked at him, noticing the white wings coming from his back and the strong power emitting from him.

"Devil!? What happened to you?"

"Let's just say, I've even the odds. But you need to leave. This place will get lively."

Devil held Masamune to his side, the blade seeming to have gotten longer as it glowed purple. He made a cut in the air as a veil was opened showing Merriot's home.

"Get in Merriot. I'll handle things here," Devil said, staring at Fafnir.

Merriot hesitated but walked towards the veil before looking back.

"You made a promise to me. Don't forget."

Devil direct his eyes to Merriot and gave her a wink.

"It's a promise my lady. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a ghost that needs exterminating."

He slashed the veil causing it to disappear leaving the two of them alone.

"Now then big boy, where were we?"

/////////

Merriot ran through the courtyard, noticing all the villagers there looking at the black fog that covered the dome that was protecting them. She hurried inside to see Dryst standing next to Noel.

"Father!!"

Noel turned, eyes wide as he ran over and hugged Merriot.

"Merriot, what are you doing here? What's going on a Behemoth's Domain?"

"I'll explain everything. Where's mother at?"

"She's up in the throne room trying to protect the city with her power."

Merriot hurried up to the throne room, Noel right behind her. Sun was in the middle on the pillow, her tails wilting a little as her whole body shivered.

"Mom!?"

Her ears perked but never lost concentration.

"Merriot!? What are you doing here? How did you get back?"

"Devil sent me here."

Noel let out a growl at that.

"What is that human doing back here at a time like this?"

"He's fighting Fafnir on my behalf."

"How is a human fighting Fafnir? Maybe he's trying to get his power for himself and destroy us all."

"It isn't like that father. He was going to let Fafnir possess him and make me kill him. But before he could get possessed, Dinaden appeared and pushed him out the way."

"Wait, Fafnir possessed Dinaden?" Noel said shocked.

Merriot nodded her head as Noel clenched his fists tight.

"That bastard finally gone and flipped his head. He's going to kill us all, and it's all that human's fault."

"Enough!" Sun barked angrily. "It doesn't matter who is responsible. What matter is whatever's happening out there is causing a light show in the sky."

Noel and Merriot looked out the window towards the horizon, seeing bright flashes of white and red in the sky. Merriot let out a whine holding her hands together.

"Please be okay Devil."

////////

Lightning struck in the air which each clash of steel. Devil dodged another attack from Fafnir before writing several kanji's in the air, causing large fireballs to converge on Fafnir. Fafnir held his sword at the ready as he struck each fireball causing them to explode. When the dust cleared, Devil was right in front of him as he connected with a round kick sending him back to the ground. He flew at him, sword ready to finish it. Fafnir let out a roar of anger before turning around and launching a large blast of fire.

"Crap," Devil said.

He tried to put on the brakes and avoid it but it caught him on the left wing, burning the feathers as he fell to the ground hard. His sense kicked in as he did several back flips as spikes erupted from the ground. The last one caught his leg making him fall to the ground. He grimaced, holding his leg as blood came out. He turned around only to get a devastating kick to the stomach launching him in the air. Fafnir followed up by smashing him back to the ground.

"Little maggot," Fafnir growled, spitting out some blood as he walked towards Devil. Dinaden's body was covered with cuts, his brown fur stained with blood. "I will not let a human get the best of me."

Devil lifted his body off the ground, letting out a couple of coughs that was followed by blood. Even with Masamune's power, he was still getting his ass handed to him. He heard a grunt making him look behind. Fafnir's was holding his chest as Dinaden's body began to glow.

"No......this can't.....be happening."

The winds picked up as lightning struck the ground. A yell came from him as a dark fog exited his body and into the air. When the last of the fog was expelled, Dinaden fell to the ground lifeless. Fafnir's head appeared as he let out a demonic growl.

"I thought that body could take more punishment than that."

His flaming blue eyes looked at Devil with malice.

"Seems like your body can take a beating. How about we get to know each other better?"

Devil held Masamune up as it glowed a bright white.

"Sorry, but I don't like people inside in, unless you're cute."

Fafnir let out a growl, eyes turning a dark red before charging towards Devil, mouth wide open. Devil followed suit, weapon at the ready. When they met, the sky flashed brightly. The light started to die down as they stood there, backs to each other. Devil let out a sigh before spinning Masamune and sheathing it.

"Im.....possible. I can't.....be beaten."

He turned around to see Devil looking at him.

"What is your....name?"

"Devil. Nagasumi Devil."

"Nagasumi Devil. I will.....remember that name. For when you die......I will be waiting for....you in hell."

Fafnir let out a yell, his eyes turning white before exploding, sending a huge shock wave outward. Devil covered his face from the strong wind. Once the wind died, he took a look again as he saw the large skeleton head laying on the ground, the flaming eyes slowly disappearing before going empty. He walked over to it, taking his sword out and driving it through the skull for good measure as it split right down the middle. A sigh left him before holding his side as he felt the blood cover his fingers.

"That was intense."

The clouds covering the mountain began to dissipate, showing the blood moon in its full glory. A moan got his attention as he turned to see Dinaden getting to his knees.

"You.....you fool. Do you realize.....what you done?"

"Not really. Care to enlighten me?"

"You've stolen my.....chance to.....be a god. You.....and the Star Sybil....will pay for this."

He held up his hand which held a stone as it glowed creating a veil. Walking through it, he took one last glance at Devil, an evil snarl coming from his mouth before the veil snapped shut. Devil shrugged his shoulders, feeling light headed from all the cuts and bruises, not to mention the deep wound that was still leaking blood from his side.

"I guess I can't make friends anywhere."

////////

"Impossible," Sun said, watching as the clouds slowly started to fade away. "Fafnir's been....defeated."

Merriot smiled happily, her tails waving behind her with joy.

"He did it!!"

"How do we know that he didn't join forces with Fafnir?" Noel said angrily.

Sun got up weakly, stumbling a little from the heavy use of power as Noel was right by her side.

"Are you okay love?"

"Just a little tired. That took a lot out of me."

They watched the clouds disappear showing the night sky dotted with stars. All the town folks started to point in the sky, noticing a bright light coming closer. Noel, Sun, and Merriot ran outside followed by lots of guards at the ready incase something happened. The light landed on the ground before fading away, showing Devil on one knee.

"Devil!!" Merriot said happily hurrying over.

Devil didn't respond as he fell to the ground, blood coming out the side of his body. Merriot let out a cry as she hurried over, holding him close.

"Devil? Devil? Can you hear you? Please answer me."

Devil didn't respond as Merriot looked towards her mother.

"Mom, please help me. We have to save him."

Sun was about to walk over before Noel grabbed her arm.

"Don't help that human. He's the reason everything has been going to hell."

Sun let out a growl before snatching her arm away.

"I'm going to help. Why don't you grow up?"

Noel stood there open mouthed as Sun hurried over. She called a couple of guards over who hesitantly walked over and helped Devil up before carrying him inside. Noel watched them, a slight growl in his throat before following them.

/////////

Dinaden stumbled into his castle making all the guards gasp and hurry over.

"My lord!! Are you okay?"

He let out a snarl as they came closer making them stop short. Pulling himself up, he limped into his chambers, leaving a trail of blood behind him. Luther appeared, letting out a gasp as he saw Dinaden.

"My lord, what happened?"

Dinaden limped onto his throne, a venomous growl steady in his throat.

"It was that wolf."

"Wolf, my lord?" Luther said confused.

"Yes Luther. That wolf you said that interfered. He was there with the Star Sybil at Behemoth's Domain's."

"I don't understand."

Dinaden gripped the armrests tightly.

"He some how killed Fafnir. My plan is ruined thanks to him."

"I'm sorry my lord. What do we do now?"

He looked at Luther before out into the night sky.

"Tell Caldor to prepare the knights. We are going to destroy Noel's empire."

"At once my lord."

"Luther, one more thing."

"Yes my lord?"

"Summon the death knight."

Luther's eyes went wide at that.

"The death knight my lord? But he doesn't listen to anybody but you."

"He will listen to you once he sees this."

Dinaden reached under his throne and pulled out a silver medallion. It had lots of burns marks on it as Dinaden tossed it to Luther.

"Tell him to help with the invasion. But if he sees that wolf, I want him to kill him. Make him suffer."

Luther swallowed, seeing the rage in Dinaden's eyes before nodding his head.

"Yes my lord," Luther said before disappearing.

Dinaden let out a growl before calling for the healer. He was going to make sure he witnessed the utter destruction of that wolf.

///////

Devil opened his eyes to see he was back at the dojo. He got up from the futon he was on and walked out to see nothing has changed. A sigh escaped him before walking towards Iga's room. Sliding the door opened, his mouth went wide at what he saw.

"Well well, if it isn't my successor," Iga said with a smile.

"Master Iga!?"

"One and only."

Devil smiled as Iga walked over to him.

"You've done me proud today. I never thought you would actually turn a defensive spell into an offensive might."

Devil chuckled before rubbing the back of his head.

"It was kind of risky and spur of the moment. To feel every blow really sucked."

Iga laughed, patting Devil on the shoulder.

"And that's why you are the successor. You think quick on your feet and improvise to the fullest. You even merged with Masamune. Very impressive."

"It was a weird feeling I'll give you that. Masamune also has a sense of humor."

"You'll get use to it," Iga said before going serious. "You still have a job to do. The fight isn't over yet."

Devil looked at him confused.

"What do you mean?"

Iga smiled before starting to disappear.

"Wait master Iga! Don't go yet."

He wanted to chase him but a stabbing pain in his side made him gasp and go to his knees. Closing his eyes, he opened them up to see he was inside a house. A blanket was covering him as his head rested on a pillow. Letting out a grunt, he got to his elbows only to get a tight hug making him yelp in pain.

"Devil!! I'm so glad you're okay," Merriot said, tears in her eyes.

"Ease up Merriot. You're doing more harm than good," Devil chuckled.

Merriot let out a gasp before letting go.

"Sorry."

"It's okay. Where are we?"

"You are in my room," Sun said, walking in.

Devil looked at her before bowing his head.

"Your injuries couldn't be healed by our magic cause of Fafnir's evil. So we had to do it the old fashion way."

"Thank you for patching me up."

"We should be thanking you. Not only did you save our daughter, but you defeated Fafnir. I never thought it would be possible to do such a thing."

"Master Iga always told me that anything can be possible if you want it to be."

Sun was about to respond when the door slid opened and an angry Noel walked in, his teeth curled back in a growl.

"Alright human, I want answers and I want them now. Otherwise, I'll kill you here and now."

"Father, what are you-"

"Shut up Merriot," Noel barked making Merriot ears fold back. "Answer me human, what is your purpose here? This isn't your world or your battles. Why are you interfering with important rituals?"

Devil couldn't help but let out a growl at that. He forced his injured body up, looking Noel straight in the eyes.

"Ritual? How is letting your daughter be killed a ritual?"

"She knew what her responsibilities were when she got chosen. Why is that any of your concern?"

"Cause she is a living person and has feelings. Look at her!"

Noel took a glance over at Merriot who had her ears folded and traces of tears on her cheek fur.

"I know I'm a human and not suppose to be here. But I refuse to turn my back on her like you did."

"You watch your mouth!" Noel snarled. "You think I had a choice? You think I wanted to send my daughter up there to be killed? I love my daughter, but I have a kingdom to look after. One soul for thousands. You decide which is important."

Noel turned around, sliding the door open before stopping outside.

"You have until nightfall to leave this world. If you come back, I will kill you."

Noel closed the door as Devil let out a sigh and gently sat back down.

"Your father's something else."

"I'm sorry about him Devil. He tends to take matters of his kingdom very seriously. But get some rest. We had the best healers in the kingdom tend to your wounds," Sun said getting up.

"Thank you Sun," Devil bowed.

"You are quite welcomed. And thank you again for saving our daughter."

Sun gave a smile before leaving. Merriot grabbed Devil's hand, giving it a squeeze.

"I'm so glad you're okay. When you came back, you were bleeding so bad that I thought I would lose you."

She gave a soft sniff, wiping her eyes before leaning forward and burying her head under his chin. Devil gave a chuckle before holding her.

"I was trained for this kind of pain. Still hurts like hell though. At least now, you can live your life to the fullest."

Devil heard a soft snore and looked down to see Merriot out cold.

"Poor girl. She's had a hell of a day."

He laid her down on the futon before tossing the covers over her as she sighed. Devil sat there, looking at how peaceful she was in her sleep. But something in the back of his mind kept bothering him. What did Iga mean when he said the fight isn't over? Grabbing Masamune, he pulled the blade out and held it in the air, looking at himself in the reflection. He gave a smile feeling the blade give off a soft hum of power before sheathing it. Letting out a yawn, he leaned against the wall and was fast asleep.

/////////

Luther arrived at the village where he was told that the death knight would be. But what he saw made him shiver. The wooden houses were crumbling and burnt to the ground. Dead livestock litter the farm fields as flies and other things covered the bodies. Blood covered the ground as headless bodies were seen all around. Luther shivered, thinking that one person did all of this. A loud scream made him jump as he looked in the direction of where it came from. An otter rushed out of a house before falling on the ground. Its clothes were burnt as blood could be seen on it.

"Help! Somebody help me!"

A raccoon followed him, a sick twisted smile on his face. A large, obsidian scythe was in his hand, resting on his shoulder.

"Scream all you want. Nobody will help you."

The otter turned around, still crawling backwards before its back hit a wall.

"Why are you doing this? We've done nothing to you."

"You don't have to do anything. I kill cause its fun."

"The gods will have their revenge on you for this."

The raccoon laughed before readying his weapon. With a quick swing, he drove the pointed tip right through the bottom of the otter's chin. Luther almost gagged at the brutality of it. With a lewd slurp, the raccoon pulled the scythe out, blood covering the blade and the rest poured out like a faucet. A sort of sad sigh escaped his lips.

"I guess that's everybody. Why can't they take more pain? They are so weak."

The raccoon turned his eyes towards Luther making him tense.

"Well well, another one. How lucky I am."

Luther was paralyzed on the spot as the raccoon advanced towards him slowly. He snapped out of his trance before speaking up.

"Morholt the death knight?"

"You know my name? Excellent, that'll make this go easier."

"My lord request your help."

"I serve no lord."

Morholt raised his scythe, ready to strike as Luther showed him the medallion. Morholt's dark scarlet eyes narrowed evilly before he grabbed Luther by the collar and lifted him up with ease.

"Where did you get that?" he growled angrily.

"From my lord Dinaden."

"So, the time has come huh? Very well, what does he want from me?"

"He wants you in the front lines for the war."

Morholt's eyes went wide at the sound of war.

"A war huh? Sounds like more bodies to claim. Alright, I'll be there. Where is it?"

"You will meet with Caldor at Xanas to begin the invasion of Camelford."

Morholt turned to leave, resting the scythe on his shoulder before Luther spoke again.

"One more thing."

"Yes?" Morholt said with his back turned.

"There is a certain wolf that Dinaden wants to suffer. If you see him, make him your primary target."

"Suffer? Mmm, I like that word. What does this wolf look like?"

"Black, with blue chest fur, tip of the tail, and ears with jade eyes."

Morholt only nodded his head before walking off again. Luther shivered again. Just being in his presence was scary enough. With a final look at the destruction Morholt caused, he disappeared in a puff of smoke.

///////

Merriot stirred lightly before slowly opening her eyes. She saw her mother combing her tails down before her eyes looked towards her.

"Finally awake sleepy head?"

"How long was I asleep for?"

"All last night and into the evening. The sun is about to set soon."

Merriot let out a gasp at that before looking out the window to see the sun slowly disappearing into the horizon.

"Are you hungry? I can have the maids bring you something to eat."

She gave a slight nod as Sun rang a bell. Moments later, a cheetah walked in and gave a bow.

"How can I be of service my lady?" she asked.

"Bring Merriot some dinner that was left over."

"At once my lady."

A few minutes later, she came back with a plate full of food and handed it to Merriot who gave a thanks before eating quickly. Sun chuckled at how fast she was wolfing down the food.

"You must've been starving?"

Merriot clean the plate in minutes, letting a satisfied sigh before putting the plate down. She took a big stretch before standing up. Something seemed off as she looked around.

"Where's Devil at?"

"He went back home," Sun said softly.

Merriot let out a gasp at that.

"Why didn't he wake me up to say goodbye?"

"He said you've been through enough and look to peaceful to wake up. He's a real gentleman, even for a human."

Merriot let out a soft growl before heading for the door.

"Where are you going?"

"To yell at him for not waking me up."

Sun chuckled at that as Merriot closed the sliding door. She hurried down the hall to the stairs, taking them two at a time. Noel was at the bottom talking to a few guards when he saw her.

"Merriot! I see you are finally up. Did you get something to eat?"

Merriot let out a soft growl before walking past him. Noel reached out and grabbed her arm softly.

"Merriot listen. I know what I said was mean and harsh. But, you have to understand my position. You are my daughter, I love you very much. It pained me when you got chosen to be the Star Sybil."

Merriot turned to look at him as his ears were folded.

"The thought of losing my first child to that demon was too painful. I wanted to send my best knights to defeat Fafnir just to save you. But, you accepted your fate when we told you. You were even happy to be able to save me and your mother. I watched you grow up, dreading the day the blood moon would come and that demon take you away from me."

A couple of tears ran down his cheek.

"I let my duties as lord come first instead of family. If there was anything at all I could've done Merriot to save you, you know I would've done it. No matter what the cost."

Merriot smiled before hugging him as he returned it tightly, whining softly.

"It's okay dad. I understand."

"Thank you Merriot."

She let him go before giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Where are you going?" Noel asked.

"For a walk to stretch my legs. I've been asleep for too long."

"Okay, enjoy yourself."

Merriot couldn't tell him where she was really going. Otherwise there would be a yelling match which she didn't want to have. Walking into the courtyard, she made sure she was alone before her tails fanned out. Her eyes began to glow as she created a veil. A smile came across her muzzle as she saw Devil's home.

"Going somewhere?"

A yelp come out of her as she spun to see Sun standing there with a smile.

"When you said you wanted to see him, I thought you were kidding."

She folded her ears and let out a whine.

"You know your father will have a fit if you go there?"

"I know mom. But I have to see him again. Even if it's just to say goodbye."

Sun let out a sigh before walking over and handing her a small pendant.

"Wear this. It has the ability to keep your form as is instead of turning feral."

Merriot's ears perked up as she looked at Sun.

"Thank you mom."

"You are quite welcomed. Now hurry up before someone sees you."

Merriot nodded before hopping through the veil as it closed behind her.

Caldor sat on a chair, his eyes focusing on nothing as his mind wandered. He still wanted that human's head for the humiliation. But instead, he was here, waiting on orders to attack. A porcupine walked up to him and saluted.

"Captain Caldor, we have a messenger."

Caldor's eyes looked at him before nodding.

"Bring him forward."

A few moments later, a lemur walked up and bowed.

"What message do you have?"

"Lord Dinaden said that the death knight will be joining you in the war," he said.

Everybody around stopped what they doing and looked at him.

"The death knight? Are you serious? That guy's a killing machine. He won't listen to anybody."

People started to talk at once and panic, not wanting to be around when the death knight came. Just hearing his name mentioned was terrifying. Caldor's fists slammed into the table he was leaning on breaking it as everybody quieted down.

"Is that all?" Caldor asked.

"Um, no. Dinaden himself will be arriving also. He wants the total destruction on Noel's empire cause of what happened to him."

"What happened?"

"Apparently some wolf and the Star Sybil managed to defeat Fafnir who possessed him to get his power."

Caldor folded his arms. So, Dinaden was crazy enough to actually go through with letting Fafnir possess him?

"When is he arriving?"

"Tomorrow morning after he gets healed from his injuries. He wants you to have the soldiers ready to march on a moment's notice."

"It shall be done. If that's all, you may take your leave."

The lemur nodded before leaving the area. The soldiers around him still talked about the death knight coming to the frontline. He stood up as they all looked at him.

"You all heard what the messenger said. Have your equipment ready to go by tomorrow morning."

"But captain. The death knight-"

"I don't want to hear about it. Who cares if the death knight is coming. You all have a job to do, regardless of who is coming here. Do you want to look bad in front of his majesty?"

They all nodded their heads no.

"Good. Now that that's settled. Get your shit together and be ready to move."

All the soldiers went to their tents as Caldor sat there. Even he didn't like the idea of the death knight coming here. But who was he to disobey Dinaden's order.

///////

Devil let out a sigh as he sat in Iga's room, a cup of tea in his hand. Sun was nice of enough to open a veil for him to go through. He wanted to say goodbye to Merriot, but watching her sleep peacefully after all she went through, he didn't want to wake her. He took another sip before placing the cup down.

"Oh well, at least she can live her life the way she wants now."

He stood up and turned around to let out a gasp at who was behind him.

"Merriot!? What are you-"

He couldn't finish before his head snapped to the left from a hard slap.

"You thought you could just leave without saying goodbye?" she growled angrily.

"I'm sorry. But after all you've been through, I didn't want to wake you."

She growled angrily and started to advance towards him, making him back up to the wall. When she got him to the wall, she grabbed him by the shirt collar and pulled him forward, locking her lips with his. It shocked Devil at first, feeling her thin muzzle lips latch onto his. Her whisker tickled his cheek as she slowly detached herself.

"And that, was for everything you've done for me," she said with a smile.

Devil finally got his sense back before giving a smile.

"I....see. Well, that was um.....interesting."

She gave a giggle before bringing her hands behind her back and looking down at the floor, a blush on her face. God, did that scream cute. Then he remembered something as he looked at her.

"I promised you a cherry blossom viewing didn't I?"

"Yes, you did."

"Alright then, follow me."

They walked out into the zen garden, the moon shining brightly in the sky. He took her out the back door and into the forest behind the temple. The leaves crunched under their footsteps until they came to a clearing show a large cherry blossom tree. Her eyes widen at the sight before her. Looming in the clearing was a large tree. Its branches extended outwards as the leaves on it were in full bloom as it rained down cherry blossom petals onto the grassy floor below. Apparently, she was gazing for a while cause Devil came back with a small blanket.

"Come on, it's better when you sit under it."

She followed him under the tree as he laid the blanket down, taking a seat. He held his hand out as she took and sat next to him. She looked up into the night sky, seeing the blossom leaves fall around her. It was just too beautiful of a sight to behold.

"Devil.....this is......beautiful. It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."

Devil was just staring at her when she said that. He couldn't help but have these feeling for her. Sure she was a large talking fox, but hell, she was a female. A beautiful female fox. So what he said after she said that was pure instinct.

"Yeah it is. Very beautiful."

She turned to look at him, ears folded in a blush. He lifted his hand, caressing her cheek before he leaned down and kissed her again. A soft whine escaped her as she closed her eyes, enjoying this moment. Her arms began to slowly wrap around his neck, her head tilting a little too deepened the kiss. Devil let out a soft moan, pushing his tongue forward as it mingled with Merriot's. This added more heat to her body as a soft growl came from her throat and she straddled his lap, easily overpowering his tongue. They broke off panting softly as Merriot's turquoise eyes held an evil lustful glare.

"My father would have a meltdown with what I'm about to do with you."

"What daddy doesn't know, can't hurt him right?" Devil said with a smile.

"My thoughts exactly," Merriot murred before kissing him again.

She broke off, panting happily before standing up. Grabbing the knot around her kimono, she undid it slowly as it fell to the ground, revealing her body in all its glory. Devil looked at her, the grey fur seeming to glow in the moonlight as the petals just made the sight more radiant. She covered her breasts as she turned her head with a blush.

"Am I.....pleasing to look at?"

"You don't know the half."

"Can I see my first human naked?"

"As you wish."

Devil stood up and took off the shirt he was wearing showing his chest which still showed the scar from the fight he had. Merriot's ears folded looking at it as Devil gave her a reassuring smile. Next came the sweatpants as the cool night breeze made him shiver a little. Merriot's eyes were glued to his crotch. Seeing a human naked was an interesting sight.

"You don't have a sheath like male canines? Very.....cool. Gives me easy access to the good stuff," she said with a lick of her chops.

She walked over to him before going to her knees. Reaching up, she grasp his length making his body shiver at the feel of his soft pads and fur. His body responded quickly at the feeling as his cock hardened. She give it a small lick, making him shiver.

"A bit salty and has a musky flavor to it. But overall, not bad."

Devil looked down to see her mouth open. Now, the thoughts running through his head was, what the fuck, a mouth full of sharp teeth, belonging to a damn animal, and my penis is going inside it. He wanted to protest at first, but when he felt that long tongue, all inhibitions left him. The only thing he could do was moan. Merriot's ears perked up hearing that, her tails wagging happily behind her as she concentrated on the task at hand.

Devil never had time for a relationship due to letting his training take over his time and attention. So feeling that warm orifice and long, silky tongue covering every inch of his cock was making him lose his mind in forbidden pleasure. He reached down with a shaky hand and scratched behind her ears earning a happy whine and increase in pressure. Warm puffs of air wash over his crotch as Merriot took him deeper, her nose pressing up against his pubic hair and smelling his arousal. Pre was going out nonstop and Devil didn't know how much longer he would last as his legs started to shake from pleasure. She felt him shake and pulled off with a slurp.

"Getting a little shaky there. Wouldn't want you to lose your balance and have something happen to that wonderful cock."

Devil let out a sigh before falling to his knees and catching his breath.

"Well now, that was very interesting. For a second, I thought I was going to lose my pride and joy when I saw those teeth of yours."

"Ahh, did I scare you?" she giggled.

"For a second. But then, pleasure I never experienced before ran through my body. I must thank you for that."

She giggled at that before crawling next to him and giving him a kiss. Devil kissed her back before breaking off and tickling her chin making her tails wag.

"How about you lay down on the blanket and let me explore that wonderful body of yours."

She gave him a lick on the nose before laying on the blanket, making sure to keep her tails still as Devil crawled on top of her. Looking down at her, she was truly beautiful, even for an animal. Leaning his head down, he kissed along the side of her neck, making her whine and shiver. His hands began to explore her slim body, fingers making trails in her fur. She moaned loudly, loving the contact she was getting. A cute yip escaped her as Devil gave her perky breasts a squeeze.

"Impressive. I must say, you are probably the most gorgeous thing that I've ever had the pleasure of bedding."

"And how many have you had?" she asked with half lidded eyes.

"None really," Devil said with a heavy blush. "I've kissed a few girls, but never got this far."

"Well, you would be my very first."

Hearing that made Devil proud, seeing that he was a virgin himself. His tongue lashed out against the dark nipples that grew hard under his touch. He nibbled and bit on them softly, giving each a tug with his teeth making her whine sharply. He went further down, laying soft kisses on her stomach making her tails twitch. He was surprised that he didn't collect any loose fur in his mouth. She must groom herself very thoroughly. A musky odor hit his nose as he got to the gold mine.

"May I?"

"By all means," she replied in deep pants.

A single finger trailed her labia, noticing how wet and slick it was earning a gasp in the process. Bringing the finger to his lips, he licked it clean, savoring the taste. It was a unique taste that was for sure. A little bitter, with a hint of something else. But all together, wasn't too bad. With a grin, he drove his tongue inside getting a surprise yelp as he swirled that muscle all around. Merriot arched her back off the blanket, eyes closed in rapture as her tails trashed underneath her.

"Oh....by the.....gods," she whined, tongue hanging out.

The heat inside her body started to build as she panted heavily. She reached down and grabbed Devil's hair, urging him to go deeper. He didn't disappoint either as he pushed as far as he could, his nose rubbing her nub adding more pleasure and causing her to hump into his tongue. Unknowing to her, she was clenching her legs together, trapping Devil between them and cutting off his air. Devil's eyes went wide as the only air he could get was Merriot's scent. He tapped her legs rapidly making Merriot gasp and ease up as Devil sat up, gasping for air.

"I'm sorry Devil," Merriot panted.

"That's okay," he chuckled. "Just took me by surprise."

"I think we've both had enough fooling around. Time for the real fun," she said with a slight, lustful growl. "Lean back against the tree and relax."

Devil smiled, putting his back against the tree as Merriot straddled his lap. He could feel the heat coming from her loins as she grinded against his penis. She never thought she would be doing this. By all accounts, she should be dead. But here she was, ready to lose her innocence to the person who has done so much for her and showed her that there is more to life then following rituals. Breathlessly, she ease up and grasped his length getting a moan from Devil. They locked gazes as she took him slowly.

Devil groaned, feeling the tight, hot tunnel grasp him hard. He could feel her body tremble as his penis disappeared inch by inch inside her, until he felt that barrier. She leaned down and locked her lips with his, murring happily. He rubbed her back softly, feeling the tension slowly fade away before she dropped completely down onto his lap, tearing that barrier. Her claws dug into his shoulder, nearly drawing blood as she whined loudly. Devil broke the kiss and started to nibble her neck, hoping to ease the pain. She tilted her head back, moaning softly as her body adjusted to her first mating.

"Are you okay?" Devil asked between his kisses.

He got his answer in the form of a growl as she began to slowly lift herself off before plunging down again. A grunt escaped him as she did it again, slowly picking up the pace. The muscles in her body gripped and massaged him in ways he never thought was possible. He grabbed her hips tightly and hung on for the best ride of his life. Merriot couldn't believe how good this felt. He may not have a sheath and a knot to tie, but by god did it feel good. Her claws detached from his shoulders and dug into the tree. With that extra leverage, she began to really ride him, making sure to grind their hips together and stimulate her clit.

"Oh.....Devil....it's....so good," she whined, head thrown back in rapture as she drooled.

Devil looked at her lilith body ride him with vigor, her breasts jiggling in his face He was mesmerized by the perky globes before he reached out and took one in his mouth, sucking loudly. She let out a yip at that, her claws digging deeper as her tails began to fan out and glow lightly. A raging fire, was starting to build inside her, ready to unleash and burn everything around her. Her body moved faster making Devil groan, lost in pleasure himself. The fire in her body was beginning to be too much as she whipped her head back and forth, whining loudly. Her eyes opened wide as that fire erupted, causing a howl to escape her which echoed into the night sky. Devil felt her body tremble heavily in his grasp as hot liquid coated his cock and dribble down his lap.

"Mmmm.....wow," Merriot moaned softly, coming down to earth, still shaking a bit as she panted.

"Enjoy your first mating?"

She nodded softly before giving him a kiss, her claws detaching from the tree and swinging around Devil's neck.

"But now it's your turn love. I want you to truly claim me."

"As you wish."

With a quick spin, he laid her down on the blanket, being mindful of her tails. Her legs hooked around his back as she gazed into his eyes lovingly. He leaned down and gave her a kiss which she returned happily before moaning as he withdrew his hips then pushed back in. He started off slow, loving the cute little sounds she was making before picking up the pace. Her tongue lolled lazily out of her mouth as the human drove into her body with need.

Devil's hand gripped the blanket by her head as his waist connected loudly with her. He never would imagined that he'd be doing this with an animal of all things. But what difference did it make if it was an animal or a human? To him, Merriot was neither. To him, she was his equal. A groan left him as he double his thrusting, feeling his peak approaching fast. The lewd sounds of sex and the cute yiffy sounds Merriot was making was the only thing he was concentrating on. Her soft whines slowly turned into a growl. Devil opened his closed eyes to see Merriot looking at him. Her maw opened slowly, showing those dangerous teeth.

"Mine!" she said a vicious growl.

In a blink of an eye, she latched onto his shoulder and bit down hard, making Devil gasp in surprise. The mixture of pain and pleasure overwhelmed him as his lower body went faster, feeling those slick walls coax him to let loose. He closed his eyes trying to hold back as sweat coated his body. Merriot's ears picked up his labored breathing, knowing he was going to cum. She squeezed him harder, making Devil growl himself as he dug his hands into the ground, getting dirt into his nails. He knew he couldn't hold back anymore.

"Mer....Merriot....I'm going....to..."

He couldn't finish as Merriot mashed her lips against his in a heated kiss. That pretty much sealed the deal as Devil locked his hips with her, pushing as far as he could and let loose with a loud groan. Merriot felt his cock twitch violently inside her before a warmth began to coat her walls. She whined happily before joining him in a glorious climax. Her body clenched heavily onto his, wanting to prolong this moment for as long as she could. Devil collapsed onto of her, spent and feeling complete. Merriot let out a happy murr, nuzzling his cheek and licking his shoulder where she marked him.

"That's some hickey you gave me," Devil chuckled.

"I marked you as mine. Now nobody can take you away. You belong to me," Merriot murred happily.

Devil smiled before pulling out slowly, earning a gasp as both their combined fluids leaked slowly onto the blanket underneath. He rolled onto his back, catching his breath as Merriot wrapped her arm around him, head under his chin as she sighed happily. He threw his arm around her, rubbing her back as her tails wagged happily.

"Thank you for everything Devil. Including this perfect night."

"You are quite welcomed my lady."

Devil looked into the night sky, watching the petals continue to fall to the ground. A slight warm breeze washed over them both making it the perfect night. He heard her calm breathing, meaning she was fast asleep and probably having the best dream of her life. Giving her a kiss to the forehead, he carefully grabbed the blanket from under them, feeling the grass tickle his bare skin as he tossed it over them both. With a happy sigh, he held her close and was soon fast asleep along with her.

Caldor sat at the table, a small vase filled with sake beside him. The oil lantern lit the tent as he studied the map. If they could take Camelford, then getting to Linnuis would be simple. Camelford was pretty much how Noel's kingdom got their goods. Cut off their supply, and morale would plummet. Commotion caught his ear as he looked at the flap of his tent. It was late. Why would they be making so much noise? A soldier rushed, eyes wide in surprise.

"The.....the death knight is here."

Caldor let out a sigh before standing up and leaving out the tent. He saw his troops give Morholt plenty of room as he walked towards him. Even though Caldor stood a couple of feet over Morholt, his presence was still scary. The aura around him just screamed death and destruction.

"Who's in charge here?" Morholt said calmly.

"That would be me," Caldor responded.

"I'm here to assist in this little invasion. But not by choice."

"We are honored to have you here."

Morholt laughed at that before shaking his head.

"Are you sure about that? It seems your troops demeanor speaks otherwise."

"Don't worry about them. They know what they must do. But you must be tired from long trek here. Would you like a tent to rest in?"

"No thanks. I prefer the outdoors."

"As you wish."

Morholt smiled before hoisting the weapon over his shoulder and walking towards the camp fire. He laid down next to it as his scarlet eyes watched the dancing flames. Caldor looked around as the troops just stared at Morholt.

"If you're done gawking at me, might I suggest getting some sleep?" Morholt said with his back to them, his tail twitching from side to side.

All the troops shivered before heading back to their tents. Caldor took one last look at him before heading to his own tent and taking a seat. He poured another shot of sake before downing it quickly.

"I really hope Dinaden knows what he's doing with him."

////////

Noel and his advisers sat around the round table looking at the map in front of them and placing little flags on certain places.

"Our barricades here and here, should be enough to quell Dinaden's advances for a while," a stallion said pointing to a few flags.

"What about the villagers? Have they all been evacuated to Hervey?" Noel asked.

"Yes my lord. There will be no casualties except on both sides," a giraffe spoke up.

"If we don't defend Camelford, we'll lose our ability to get goods and supplies. And if that happens, our food supply will suffer a dramatic hit," a leopard added.

Hurried footsteps could be heard down the hall as the guards stood ready. A puma hurried in, resting his hands on his knees and catching his breath.

"Yama, what's the word on the front line?" Noel asked.

"Dinaden's troops have started the attack."

"Is our defenses holding strong?"

"They are my lord but..."

Everybody looked at him. They didn't like the word but cause it usually means something's wrong.

"But what?"

"The......death knight is fighting alongside Dinaden."

"Say what!?" Noel barked.

"The death knight is helping Dinaden. He's at the front lines going through our knights like nothing."

"Dear god," Noel said pacing back and forth.

This changes everything. With the death knight helping Dinaden, all their planning is pretty much useless.

"And that's not all. With the knights paying more attention to the death knight, the Corba tribe is starting to advance from the east. Our defense is severely thinned out and it's only a matter of time before Camelford will be lost."

"How soon can we send more troops?" the giraffe asked.

"We can have another two hundred troops at the ready, but probably won't make it in time," the leopard added.

Noel let out a sad whine. This was just going from bad to worse. They all looked at him as he ran his claws through his head with frustration.

"Gish," he said looking at the leopard.

"Yes my lord?"

"Set up another blockade between the village. If Camelford should fall, Dinaden won't stop until he takes this place."

"At once my lord," Gish said bowing before dashing out.

"What do we do my lord?" the giraffe asked.

Noel slammed his hands several times on the table in frustration. He let out another sad whine before shaking his head.

"I don't know. With the death knight on Dinaden's side, I don't know what we can do."

Sun heard everything as she stood by the door. She never heard Noel give up like this. But with the news of the death knight joining the fight against them, he didn't know what to do. But then, an idea popped into her idea. A crazy idea that might just work.

////////

Merriot's eyes fluttered opened slowly. She let out a yawn and gave a stretch. Sitting up, she found she was inside Devil's room as the door was opened. She smiled as she remembered last night. It was the best moment of her life. Getting up, she saw her kimono by the futon as she got dressed. Walking outside, she saw Devil training. He had no shirt on as she could see the muscles on his body flex and relax. It was kind of hot as she blushed. She walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him from behind.

"Good morning my lady. Did you sleep well?" Devil asked.

"The best sleep I ever had," she sighed happily, moving her tails as they wrapped possessively around his body.

Devil chuckled before turning around and giving her a kiss.

"Are you hungry? I can make you something to eat."

"No thanks. I'll get something when I get back. Do you think you can teach me some of that ninjutsu?"

"Sure why not."

He told her the basics of ninjutsu, where it came from, and how it was used. Merriot listened intently like a kid in school. When it came time to actually do the magic, Devil was surprised at how fast she picked it up.

"Impressive. But I forgot that you're from a land of magic."

"Thank you. But can you show me how to do thing you did against Fafnir?"

Devil was about to respond when he tensed up and looked at the double doors. Something was heading towards them at a fast pace.

"What's wrong?" Merriot asked.

"Something's coming here."

He held Masamune at the ready before something jump over the wall and landed softly. Merriot's eyes went wide at who standing there.

"Mom!? What are you doing here?"

Sun stood up, wearing a beautiful yukata that was yellow with black lining. She looked around before seeing Merriot. She walked over and gave her a hug.

"Hello my daughter. How are you?"

"I'm fine. But, what are you doing here? Does father know you're here?"

"The war has started with Dinaden. So his mind is more focused on the task at hand."

"The war has started?" Merriot said with a gasp.

Sun nodded her head before her eyes looked at Devil. A small blush appeared on her cheeks seeing his firm physique. Devil gave a bow before walking over.

"How are you Sun?"

"I'm fine thank you."

"Please, come and have a seat and explain this war."

They all took a seat in the zen garden, Merriot next to her mom. Sun was about to speak when they heard a voice speak up.

"Hey Devil, are you here?"

"Crap, its Endo. You guys have to hide. If he sees you, there's no telling what he'll do."

Sun reached up and took off the pendant she was wearing along with Merriot, turning them into foxes. Devil looked in shock for a second before he heard Endo coming through the front door.

"Hey man, you haven't been to school in a while. Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine. Just trying to get my head straight."

"I know. You're still thinking about the old man huh? I understand."

He looked behind him to see Merriot and Sun as his eyes widen.

"When did you get dogs? They look so cute!"

He walked over, making them tense a little before going to his knees and scratching them underneath their chins, making them murr and tails wag. If Endo only knew.

"I'll come back to school eventually."

"Okay. Everybody's asking about you. I'll let them know you are still mourning and will come when ready."

He gave them a finally scratch before heading out. They watched him leave before Devil sat down. A flash of light caught his attention as Sun and Merriot returned to their original form.

"That's a neat trick. How come you didn't use that before Merriot?"

"I was being chased, remember?"

"Yeah, sorry about that. Now then, what's this about a war?"

Sun took a breath before speaking up.

"Dinaden has started his attack on Camelford. If we lose Camelford, our food supply will be cut off and we won't last more than a couple of months."

"That's not good," Devil said.

"It gets worst. Dinaden has somehow acquired the assistance of the death knight."

"Death knight?" Devil asked confused.

Sun nodded her head.

"He's a ruthless monster that kills for fun. He got the name death knight by killing whole armies by himself. People say he's death's right hand cause of the scythe he carries and the dark magic he uses. Nobody dares oppose him or they find themselves being buried the next day. He doesn't care who he kills as long as he kills somebody."

"Sounds like a lunatic," Devil spoke up.

"He is. And with him leading the front lines alongside Caldor, Noel has half his troops just trying to stop them. But in doing so, the Corba tribe is using that distraction to advance from the east. The remaining troops there won't last long and it's only a matter of time before Camelford falls."

Sun let out a whine before looking at Devil. She put her hands in front of her and bowed her head, ears folded.

"Nagasumi Devil, will you help us again?"

Devil waved his hands back and forth in embarrassment.

"Please Sun, don't bow to me like that. You know I'll be happy to help you in anyway I can."

"Thank you so much Devil."

"Let me get changed and we'll head back right away," Devil said getting up.

They watched him leave before Sun looked at Merriot.

"Now for you, young lady. Don't think I can't smell what you two did."

Merriot blushed heavily before looking away.

"It.....just happened mom. I couldn't help myself."

"And I see you left your mark on his shoulder. You know your father will skin him alive once he sees it or finds out."

"I won't let him. Devil belongs to me. I will protect him," Merriot said firmly.

Sun smiled at that before kissing her forehead.

"You are growing up to fast. Pretty soon, you'll be moving out and having a family of your own."

Merriot chuckled at that with Sun as Devil walked out wearing a grey vest with matching slacks.

"Shall we go ladies?" Devil said with a smile.

"Indeed," Sun smiled.

////////

Dinaden watched with glee in the background as Morholt decimated every knight he faced. Either leaving them with no head or gutting them and leaving them to bleed out. He still didn't see that wolf anywhere. That was the only thing on his mind. And when he showed up, he was going to enjoy watching him suffer. Caldor walked up to Dinaden, his gold armor covered with blood as he bowed.

"We are pushing them back more and more my lord. Pretty soon we will have complete control over Camelford."

Dinaden paid him no mind as he continued to watch Morholt. Caldor looked also, grimacing a little at the sheer brutality Morholt was doing to the knights..

"Was it necessary to bring him my lord?"

"Are you questioning my orders?" Dinaden said, a glare in his eyes that looked almost mad.

"No my lord. Its just the knights are worried that when the battle is over, he will turn and kill them."

"He will do no such thing. I have command over him until this war is over."

Caldor nodded his head and was about to return to battle when Dinaden stopped him.

"Any sign of that wolf?"

"No my lord."

"He'll come. And when he does, Morholt will make him suffer."

Caldor gave a nod. He wanted to kill that human, not Morholt. With a grunt, he returned to the battlefield.

///////

Sun and Merriot hurried through the temple halls with Devil right behind them. They made it to the meeting room as Sun turned and stopped Devil.

"Let me go in first and explain my plan."

Devil nodded as they walked in. Noel was pacing back and forth before his ears picked up footsteps. Turning, he saw Sun and Merriot standing there.

"Merriot, where have you been hiding?" he said with a forced smile.

"Hanging around. I heard Dinaden's attacking. Is it true?"

"Yes, its true."

Sun walked up to him and held his hands.

"Love, I have an idea that might turn the tide in our favor. But you have to promise me you'll have an open mind."

"What kind of idea?"

"Promise me first," she said.

Noel sighed before nodding his head.

"I promise my love. Now, what is this idea?"

Sun gave a soft smile before looking at the door.

"Come on in."

When Devil walked in, Noel gave a wicked snarl.

"YOU!! Guards, seize him!!"

"Stay where you are," Sun barked.

Noel looked in shocked as she walked over to Devil.

"Sun, what is the meaning of this? Why the hell is he back here?"

"Noel, he may be the key to turning this war in our favor."

"He's been nothing but a threat. Ever since he came here, nothing has gone right."

Sun growled at that making Noel fold his ears.

"He saved our daughter and killed Fafnir. We thought Fafnir couldn't be killed but yet he did it. He may be a human, but what difference does that make? What matters is what he's done for us."

Noel growled and looked away. Devil walked up to him as the guards stood ready. He went to one knee and bowed his head.

"Your majesty, I know I'm a human and that you don't trust me. But all I'm asking for, is a chance to save this kingdom. If you still want to kill me, then here," he said unsheathing Masamune and presenting the handle. "Strike me down, here and now."

Noel looked down at him before grabbing the blade. Merriot wanted to stop him but Sun held her back, shaking her head. Noel let out a growl, raising the blade high in the air, expecting Devil to attack him. But Devil kept his head down, ears folded and neck exposed. A tired sigh escaped him as he lowered Masamune.

"Why do you even care what happens here human? This isn't your world."

"Whether it's my world or not, my master told me to never leave those in need of help. You are in need of help. I will offer my services under you, if you will have me."

Silence was golden before Noel looked up at Sun and Merriot. Sun smiled and nodded her head. He finally smiled before looking back down at Devil.

"Stand up."

Devil stood up, still keeping his head down. Noel gave him back Masamune as he sheathed it.

"Do you really wish to help my kingdom?"

"Yes my lord."

"Very well. I accept your help."

Merriot smiled, her tails wagging happily behind her along with Sun.

"What's the situation my lord?" Devil asked.

"We are on the verge of losing Camelford. Dinaden got the assistance of the death knight."

"So I heard. What can I do to help?"

"With the death knight taking so much attention, the east side is too vulnerable and is being attacked by the Corba tribe," Noel said, looking at the map. "I need you to help them hold that side. How fast can you get-"

He turned to look at Devil but he was nowhere in sight.

"Where did he go?"

"To Camelford to help," Sun said. "I had a veil opened and he used it."

She walked over and gave him a kiss.

"Thank you for being open minded. I'm sure Devil will do all he can to save Camelford."

"I hope you're right love," he said before looking at Merriot who was smiling at him.

"Don't worry father. I know Devil will come through."

////////

"Keep fighting, we have to hold them back," Kiloph said, parrying an attack before countering and driving his sword through a snake man's chest.

Even though Kiloph said that, he knew it wasn't looking good. He heard about the death knight attacking the front lines where Dryst was, but there was nothing he could do about it. They had their hands full with the heavy onslaught the Corba tribe was doing. He was so focused on the the two in front of him, that he didn't hear the one behind him until it was too late. He let out a yelp as the jagged sword cut right through his armor and into his back.

"Dammit," he growled, spinning fast and cutting the head off the one who attacked him.

He staggered backwards towards a building, smearing his blood on the wall as he panted hard. There was just too many of them.

"I'm sorry lord Noel. There is just too many of them. Forgive me."

Three snake men advanced towards him, their jagged swords covered in blood as they had a smile on their faces. Kiloph let out a whine, closing his eyes and waiting for the final blow. Suddenly, he heard the sounds of pain. Opening his eyes, he saw the snake men covered in flames before dropping to the ground, still covered in fire.

"Are you okay?"

He looked up to see Devil standing on the roof. Devil hopped down and gave a smile as Kiloph looked at him.

"What are you doing here human?"

"Me and a few buddies are here to help."

"Buddies?" Kiloph said confused.

Five more copies of Devil appeared from around the building and smiled as Kiloph looked shocked.

"How are you doing that?"

"Magic baby," Devil said with a grin. "How many knights do you have left?"

"I don't know," he said before groaning in pain.

"Hide out in this building and we'll take care of the rest."

Kiloph couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as he stumbled into the building and hid. Glad to be taking a rest, even though it wasn't the rest he wanted.

"Thank you human."

Devil gave a thumbs up before they all disappeared in a flash, heading into the fray.

///////

This fight was taking longer than it was suppose to as Dinaden's claws sunk into the chair he was sitting on. The east side should've been in his control by now and the Corba tribe joining the battle. A beaver ran up to him and bowed.

"Well? Did we take over the east side?" Dinaden asked.

"No my lord. Noel sent help."

That was impossible. It would take at least half a day to get here.

"How many did he send?"

"Just one knight."

"Just one knight? You're telling me, one knight is all he sent?"

"Yes, but this knight somehow spilt himself into six, and is killing the Corba tribe single handedly."

Spilt himself into six? That sounded familiar.

"What did this knight look like?"

"He was a black wolf my lord. I didn't get a good look cause I came right away to report."

That was him! Finally, he showed himself. Dinaden couldn't help but have a sick smile on his face.

"So, he finally showed himself at last."

"Were you waiting for him my lord?"

"Waiting is an understatement. I wanted him to come. Now it's time for payback. Morholt, get ready. Your target is near."

Morholt gave a grin before pulling his scythe out of the body of a gator. He looked ahead to see Dryst holding his own ground before stalking towards him.

"Captain Dryst, the east side has been secured," a knight shouted from a building before fixing an arrow and firing.

"How is that possible?"

"Lord Noel sent a lone knight to help. Apparently he killed the Corba tribe all by himself."

"Does he have a name?"

"We don't...look out!!!"

Dryst turned to see Morholt in front of him. He stood ready against, his silver and gold shield in one hand while he held a zweihander in the other.

"Death knight Morholt! What busy do you have siding with Dinaden?"

"I owe allegiance to no one. But I owe him a favor," Morholt said with a shrug of his shoulders as if it was no big deal. "And besides, I love killing. So this is a plus for me. But enough talk. My blade demands more blood."

Morholt charged him with unreal speed that caught Dryst off guard. He barely reacted quickly enough to raise his shield to block the attack. The force behind it staggered him backwards and stunned him for a brief second.

"You left yourself open," Morholt smiled evilly.

His left hand got covered in dark flame before thrusting it forward, connecting sharply with Dryst's chest and sending him sliding on the ground. Dryst coughed up blood, trying to move his body but found that he couldn't.

"I struck a vital point in your chest, but I didn't apply enough power to it. A rare mistake I hardly make. But no matter, this works for me also. I love to see the expression on my victim's face before I kill them."

He raised his scythe in the air, blood dripping from the tip as it was ready to claim another soul. Dryst watched with a sad whine, seeing his life flash before his eyes. Before Morholt could deliver the final blow, his senses kicked in as he spun quickly behind him and block an attack aimed for his head. His scarlet eyes looked at his attacker before he smiled.

"Impressive. Not many people can sneak up on me."

"I aim to please," Devil responded before he went on the attack.

Devil and Morholt went toe to toe, parrying, dodging, and avoiding each others attacks with skilled precision. Many knights from both sides looked on with awe, seeing somebody crazy enough to take the death knight head on. They came to a deadlock before jumping back and began to circle one another, sizing each other up and trying to find a weakness of any kind.

"That's the one!!" Dinaden shouted. "Morholt, I want you to make him suffer. Make him suffer so bad he'll beg for his life to end."

Morholt directed his eyes to Dinaden before back to Devil.

"So, you're the one who pissed off Dinaden? Good job."

"I get that alot these days."

"Since he wants you to suffer, I guess I can't use Hades," he said.

He dropped his scythe as it disappeared into his shadow, being replaced by a crimson red twinblade. Each blade was curved and and seemed to be glowing lightly. He spun it expertly before looking at Devil.

"When people need to suffer, I bring out Ripper. Each blade is lightly coated with a special kind of magic, created by me. When in contact with flesh, it burns very badly. The perfect tool to make people suffer with, don't you agree?"

"I suppose everybody has to have a sick, twisted hobby."

"Just do me a favor? Try not to die too fast. I do enjoy hearing the screams of my victims. It turns me on."

/////////

"Lord Noel!!" a skunk said rushing in before giving a bow.

"What's the situation?" Noel asked.

"The east side has been secured. Whoever you sent to help, secured the east side all by himself and is now facing the death knight head on."

Noel couldn't help but smile at that. Devil was true to his word when he said that he would help. But taking on the death knight is a little extreme, even if he is a good swordsman.

"Have Gish ready the troops to advance on Camelford at once. We have to end Dinaden's reign here and now."

"At once," the skunk said rushing out.

Finally, something good was happening for a change. He walked out the war room and headed down the hall to see Sun and Merriot helping some of the wounded that made it back. Sun looked over to see him as she gave a smile.

"What's the word love?"

"Devil actually did it. He defended the east side all by himself. Just who the hell is he to take on the Corba tribe like that?"

"He was trained by a good master," Merriot spoke up. "And his magic is pretty impressive also."

"And how would you know this?"

"I watched him train when he saved me. His magic and fighting style would help your knights greatly for future battles."

"There won't be any future battles. I want to end this now. Devil is fighting the death knight all by himself, which is suicide. If he can hold him at bay, we can take out the rest of Dinaden's troops. But in order to do that, I'm going to need the help of both of you."

Sun and Merriot looked at each other.

"What do you need of us?" Sun asked.

"I need you to make a veil to Camelford so Gish can send his troops there."

"One person is okay, but to create a veil to let a brigade through is taxing."

Noel let out a soft whine before walking over and holding both of Sun's hands gently.

"I know it's a lot to ask, but I know you and Merriot can do it."

Sun looked at Merriot who nodded her head.

"I'm still the Star Sybil. The blood moon may be over, but I can still feel some of its power."

"Alright my love, we'll give it a try."

///////

Devil blocked several attacks before going on the attack himself. There was no kind of weakness that Devil could spot. It was like his defense was perfect. He did a quick backflip from a swing that would've split him in half and landed on top of a roof looking down at Morholt.

"Damn. Just who the hell is this guy? I can't seem to find any kind of weakness in his defense."

Morholt looked up at him with a smile.

"I like you wolf. You actually got me excited for a fight. I've wanted to go full force against an opponent for so long, but they all die too fast. But with you, I can finally go all out."

He held up his hand as it got covered with a dark flame. Making a fist, he slammed it into his chest letting out a grunt. Laughter started to come from him as he felt his power start to rise. His scarlet eyes opened and looked at Devil. Right there, Devil felt pure fear. His ki was just pure evil and it made him shiver from head to toe.

"Are you ready wolf? It's time to suffer."

Morholt took one step before literally disappearing. Devil's eyes went wide as he looked this way and that. He even tried to pick up his ki, but that seemed to disappear as well. Morholt appeared in front of him, shocking Devil who let out a yelp as he got struck with a hard blow making him fall off the roof and land hard on his back, taking his breath away. Masamune hummed with power making Devil flip backwards as Morholt's blade struck the ground where his head was. He got his bearings and looked up to see Morholt no longer there.

"Shit, this is bad. I can't sense him anywhere."

He let out another yelp as a searing burning pain shot across his back. Morholt wasn't kidding when he said that the burning sensation was painful. It felt like somebody was running a hot poker across his back.

"First blood to me little wolf," Morholt chuckled.

Devil let out a growl and turned to strike Morholt, only to hit nothing but air. It was hard to concentrate with the constant burning pain on his back. Masamune hummed again as Devil turned to his right to block Morholt's next attack, much to his surprise.

"Impressive little wolf."

"I aim to please. But it's my turn now."

With quick speed, Devil threw his head forward, connecting hard on Morholt's nose making him yelp in shock. Still in motion, he made two cuts across his chest before slamming his foot square in his chest sending him sliding on the ground. Morholt got to his feet quickly, head down as he started laughing. He took his finger as drew it slowly across one of the cuts, collecting the blood and licking it off with joy.

"I love the taste of this. It does something to me inside. Care for some? It's really good."

"I'll pass," Devil said, breathing hard and still feeling that fire burn.

"Morholt, quit playing with that wolf and kill him already!" Dinaden shouted.

Morholt let out a depressed sigh as he looked at Dinaden with a puppy dog face.

"But this is the first time I'm able to go full force. Why do I have to rush it?"

"Because I said so. Now KILL HIM!!"

Morholt looked backed at Devil before shrugging.

"You heard him. I have to kill you now. Of all the rotten luck."

He grabbed Ripper by the handle before twisting it. It came apart as he held a blade in each hand.

"I wanted to enjoy myself, but orders are orders. Are you ready to die?"

"Not today," Devil growled as he stood ready.

///////

The veil stood opened as the troops rushed into it. Both Merriot and Sun's tails were glowing brightly as they kept the gateway opened. It was taxing as they both were breathing hard.

"Just a few more troops love, hang in there," Noel said.

Once the last of the troops went into the veil, it closed with a snap as they both went to their knees out of breath. Noel smiled and hugged both of them with joy.

"Thank you both. With your help, we can end this war once and for all."

Merriot gave a smile before a shiver went up her spine as she looked at the closed veil. Sun noticed it as she looked at her.

"What's wrong dear?"

"I...don't know. It feels like Devil is in some kind of trouble. I should go help him."

"Absolutely not! I won't allow you to risk your life anymore. This is the death knight we're talking about," Noel said firmly.

"But father...."

"No buts Merriot. If you have any common sense at all, you know there are some things you can't help with."

Merriot let out a whine. She knew he was right, but she wanted to protect her mate. With a frustrated sigh, she nodded her head in understanding.

"I understand father."

"Good. Sun, do you think you can open one more veil for me? I want to take the lead."

"Of course love."

Sun's tails glowed brightly as she held her hand out, causing a veil to open. Noel gave her a kiss before standing up.

"Be safe my love."

"Always," Noel grinned as he hopped into the veil.

Merriot watched it closed, wanting to jump in and help Devil.

"He'll be fine Merriot. Have faith in him," Sun said softly, brushing her cheek.

////////

Dinaden watched with glee as Morholt made cut after cut on Devil's body.

"More!! Make him suffer more."

Devil was leaning on a building, his body burning from the multiple cuts Morholt made. This wasn't looking good at all. No matter what he did or tried to do, he couldn't land a single hit or block anything that Morholt threw at him. Morholt looked at him with a smile, tapping one of the curved swords on his shoulder.

"Come on wolf, surely you can do better than this? Where was that feisty spirit you displayed earlier? Don't make me go all out for nothing."

Devil gritted his teeth. His vision was starting to blur slightly. The cuts may not have been deep, but they were numerous and the blood loss was starting to get to him.

"How the hell do I fight him? Nothing I do is working. Master Iga, what do I do?"

Morholt let out a sad whine, ears wilting slightly.

"I guess the fun is over. Oh well, it was fun to actually use my full power for once. Thank you for the opportunity."

He held his blade up as it glowed with a dark tint. With a slashing motion, a wave of dark power came at Devil. Devil jumped out the way onto the roof of another building as that wave of power cut the building in half as it crumbled to the ground. Masamune hummed making him turn around only to let out a yelp as he got struck back down to the ground.

"You are too predictable wolf."

Devil got to his hands and knees, blood dripping from his muzzle.

"Who ever taught you how to fight, should be ashamed of how you are right now."

A snarl left Devil's muzzle as he gripped Masamune tightly, getting to his feet. He turned around, eyes blazing with anger.

"I don't care what you do to me, but when you insult my master, I'll make you pay."

Masamune glowed purple, as the white wings appeared from behind Devil again. Morholt raised an eyebrow at what he saw before letting out a muffled gasp. Devil flew at him so fast, his hand grabbing his face before throwing him through the wall of a building. Morholt let out a yell of anger before their blades clashed again, causing flashes of light with each strike of metal against metal. Dinaden watched with anger, seeing the same thing that happened when he was fused with Fafnir. A doe hurried over before giving a swift bow.

"Lord Dinaden, we are being flanked from behind."

"By who?"

"King Noel."

Dinaden turned around to see what remained of his troops engaged in combat with Noel. He let out a snarl before turning back around.

"Tell Caldor to handle it."

"Caldor is engaged with the enemy already. Our troops are being killed one after the other. It's only a matter of time before we are overrunned."

Dinaden's hands balled into fists, his claws digging into the pads and drawing blood. If Morholt wasn't taking so long, none of this would've happened. He turned his attention to the fight to see Morholt slide to a stop next to him.

"Morholt, this has gone on long enough," Dinaden said angrily walking up to him. "Because of your stupid obsession to have fun, I'm going to lose this war. And it's all your fault."

He made a point to poke him hard in the back with those last few words which was all Morholt could take. With an inhuman snarl, he turned quickly, blade ready as Dinaden's head left his body. All the soldiers looked in horror as their king's head rolled to a stop next to Morholt's feet, the headless body dropping to the ground.

"Much better," Morholt said with a happy sigh before locking his eyes with Devil. "Now, where were we?"

Caldor watched from afar, seeing his king fall to the hands of the death knight. Seeing as this war was pretty much over with the addition of Noel's troops, he dropped his weapon on the ground and went to both knees, hands up in surrender. Other knights joined him as Noel's troops let out a shout of victory.

"Round up the enemy knights and kill anyone who doesn't surrender," Noel said before walking towards Caldor who looked up at him. "See what happens when you follow a mad tyrant?"

Caldor didn't respond as Noel sighed. Kiloph and Dryst walked over, giving Noel a bow.

"You two okay?" Noel asked, seeing his two best knights looking worst for the wear.

"Yes my lord. We're a little beat up, but if it wasn't for Devil, we'd be dead," Dyrst replied.

"Where is Devil?" Noel asked.

He got his answer when a building collapsed in the background. Devil emerged from the wreckage slowly, his body in all kinds of pain as the wings on his back were wilted and some burned away. He let out a howl of pain as Morholt drive his sword right through his leg.

"Yes, yes!!! That's the sound I was waiting for. Let me hear more."

Devil whimpered loudly as Morholt twisted the blade, tearing muscle in the process. He pulled the blade out before licking the blood off slowly, eyes closing in pleasure.

"Your blood tastes.....exotic. Maybe I won't kill you. Maybe I'll keep you alive to savor your blood."

Devil was at his limit. He didn't know how much more his body could take. Even with the help of Masamune, Morholt's power was just overwhelming, even worse than Fafnir. He couldn't think of anything that could possible contend with him. Morholt looked around as he felt eyes on him.

"Does anybody else want to play? It seems this little wolf is all burned out. Kind of disappointing really."

He started walking towards the troops, making them back up little by little, even Noel. Devil gritted his teeth as pain was just all over his body, his mind working overtime to figure out something, anything. Then, something clicked in his brain. Something so crazy, that it might just work against somebody like him. Summoning what energy he had left, he picked his body up to his feet, putting all the weight on his right leg since his left leg was useless.

"Can't believe I'm actually going to try this. Master Iga said this move was only suppose to be used in desperate situations. I think qualifies. But it's going to hurt like a bitch."

Morholt looked around, looking for volunteers to step forward.

"Oh come now, surely somebody wants to try and kill me?"

"Hey bub, I'm not done with you yet," Devil said, holding Masamune ready.

Morholt turned around, a gleam in his eyes. Noel looked on as Devil tried to stand up to Morholt but knew he couldn't.

"Devil, that's enough. You are in condition to fight anymore."

"Wrong my lord. As long as I can breath, I can still fight."

"Then let me cure you of the disease called life."

Morholt ran towards him, blood lust in his eyes as he gripped his swords tightly. Devil had to make sure he did this right. One false move and he could die himself. He had to bait him to attack which would be easy enough. When Morholt got close enough, he threw what strength he had left in an attack, which hit nothing but air. Masamune hummed which he expected as he braced himself and positioned his body at the last moment. A shrill howl escaped his muzzle as he felt that blade go through his body.

"DEVIL!!" Noel shouted.

"It's over little wolf," Morholt whispered in his ear. "You were a worthy foe. Your skull will hang proudly from Hades' blade hilt."

"You're right about one thing," Devil said gritting his teeth. "It is over."

Morholt let out a gasp, feeling real pain go through his body for the first time. Looking down, he saw Masamune going through his chest. He let out a grunt as Devil twisted the blade and raised it upward, doing extreme damage to his internal organs. Morholt staggered backwards, blood coming out of his body like a river. He grabbed the blade and pulled it out, listening to the slurp of bodily fluids. He collapsed to his knees, a weak chuckle escaping his muzzle as he looked at Devil before clapping softly.

"I commend you.....little wolf."

Morholt dropped to the ground, blood pooling around him as all the knights looked shocked, even Caldor.

"He.....he did it. The death knight has been killed."

Devil reached back and pulled Morholt's sword from his body before dropping to the ground himself. Noel hurried over, kneeling next to Devil who was chuckling weakly.

"Devil, are you okay?"

"A little more to the right and I wouldn't be," he said with a weak laugh before groaning in pain. "That's going to leave a mark. No wonder master Iga said not to try that move unless it's a last resort."

Noel chuckled along with Devil before calling a few knights over. They helped Devil up carefully as he grimaced in pain.

"Is the war over?" Devil asked.

"Thanks to you it is. I don't know how I can ever repay for for everything you've done."

"Well for starters, can I get fixed up?" Devil said with a grin.

"Absolutely. All right men, bring the prisoners and lets head home."

All the knights cheered at that and headed back to the castle. Noel took one last look at the headless Dinaden. With a shake of head, he followed his knights back to Linnuis.

///////

Noel stood at his window, a smile on his face as he watched his town. The sun was shining brightly and everything seemed perfect. Sun walked in and stood next to him, interlocking his paw and resting her head on his shoulder.

"What a perfect day," she said with a murr.

"That it is my love."

"Who knew our kingdom would be saved by a human?"

"Life is full of surprises, Has his injuries been fully healed?"

She nodded her head before chuckling.

"Merriot stayed with him all night healing him."

"Do I even need to ask if there's something between them?"

Sun folded her ears with a blush as Noel sighed.

"I kind of figured that."

"You're not mad are you?"

"I should be furious about it. But after all he's done for us, I'm honored she's taking a liking to him."

Sun smiled at that. If he only knew what they did. A knock on the door was heard as Kiloph and Dryst walked in.

"Your majesties, Devil is starting to train your knights, if you want to watch?" Dryst said.

Noel's ears perked up at.

"Sounds interesting. I'll go see for myself what kind of magic he has."

They walked out to the training grounds to see all the knights lined up and listening intently at what Devil was telling them.

"The Koga style of ninjutsu can be used as an offensive weapon or a defensive tool depending on your situation. If used correctly, it can save your life or the lives of others."

He wrote a kanji in the air before it turned into dark smoke and covered him. When it dissipated, he was nowhere to be seen as everybody looked on in surprise.

"That is just one of the many tools at your disposal when you master the Koga style," he said behind them before walking up to the front, noticing Noel and Sun. "Continue your training on the basic spells."

"Yes sir," they all saulted and started practicing.

Devil walked over and did a bow.

"Your majesties. I hope you are doing well?"

"That was pretty impressive. You have......interesting magic," Noel said.

"Thank you my lord."

Sun walked over and gave him a hug.

"Thank you for everything you've done for us."

"It was my pleasure my lady."

"I told you to call me Sun," she said with a grin.

"My apologies."

"DEVIL!!"

Devil turned only to get embraced in a tight hug by Merriot.

"Merriot? What are you...mmph,"

He couldn't finish as she mashed her lips against his in a deep kiss, surprising him and her parents. She broke off happily before hugging him close, her tails wrapping around him possessively.

"And just what are you doing young lady?" Noel said with a grin.

"Giving Devil my thanks father."

"There's a time and a place for everything Merriot."

Merriot looked at her father then Devil, giving a toothy grin.

"You're right father. There is a place."

She opened a veil behind her before pulling Devil through, getting a yip from him as it closed with a snap. Noel let out a sigh as Sun laughed.

"What am I going to do with that girl?"

"She's in love dear. You were like that with me you know," Sun chuckled, giving Noel a kiss on the cheek.

"And I still am," Noel grinned, nipping her neck making her yip softly. "Lets follow their example shall we?"

"Way ahead of you," Sun murred.

///////

"You know Merriot, I don't think your father knows what we did yet. Doing that in front of him might make me a marked man," Devil said, being pulled through the forest by the paw.

"Well tough break for him. I said it before and I'll say it again, you belong to ME!" Merriot snapped back.

"Where are you taking me anyway?"

"You'll see."

She dragged him through the forest before coming to a stop right where she wanted.

"This is the place. What do you think?"

Devil stood there amazed. All around were cherry blossom trees in full bloom as the leaves fell to the grassy ground below.

"Wow Merriot, this is amazing. How did you do it?" he said walking up to a tree and touching the bark, feeling the wood on his pads.

"With a little magic. I know it's not the real thing, but I tried my best. How do you like it?" she asked with a blush.

He walked back to her before kissing her deeply, making them both moan.

"How's that for an answer?"

"The best answer ever," Merriot said with a grin.

She wrapped her arms his neck and kissed him deeply, her tongue demanding access which was granted instantly as her tails wagged happily. She broke off before cuddling under his chin.

"I'm so happy I met you Devil. I couldn't ask for a better protector or mate than you."

"I'm pretty sure your father would've found somebody for you."

"They wouldn't be you."

She took a step back before undoing the knot of her kimono, letting it fall to the ground. Devil smiled, getting to see her body again. She walked up and grabbed his vest with a growl.

"Why are you still clothed?"

"Just admiring a beautiful figure in my presence."

"Well stop admiring and come get it."

Devil couldn't argue with that as he took off his vest, getting a growl of approval. The pants came next as the red tip of his cock peaked out from his sheath. He gave her a kiss before going down to her neck, his nose picking up her true scent which was high with arousal. His claws dug gently into her fur making her shiver in his grasp as he explored her body in his new form.

Merriot let out a yip, feeling his cold nose against her breasts. A cool sensation went across her nipple as Devil lashed his tongue out. Her tails twitched behind her as her eyes closed in pleasure. A giggle escaped her as Devil laid kisses gently on her stomach. She reached down and cupped Devil's face as he looked up at her from his knees.

"Is there something wrong my lady?"

"Nothing's wrong love. I just can't wait anymore."

She laid herself down on her back, tails going still as she held her hands out for her love. Devil smiled before crawling over her body and kissing her lovingly. She looked into his eyes as he did the same.

"Take me love."

Devil didn't want to wait either as his erection throb with need. He lined himself up with Merriot's opening, the heat coming from her made him growl slightly which surprised even him. The first couple of inches went in without effort as they both closed their eyes, enjoying the intimate moment. Fully hilted in his love, Devil panted happily feeling Merriot's tunnel constrict tightly around him.

"This....is new," Devil said "Who knew male canines are this sensitive?"

"It gets better, trust me," she said, licking him under the chin slowly making him shiver.

Devil withdrew his hips, a moan escaping both of them before he pushed back in. He thought the first time was good, this was ten times better. A whine escaped him as he started to move his hips faster. Fur on fur was a new feeling for him, but it was something he could get use to. Merriot moaned, throwing her head in pleasure as her tongue lolled out her mouth. Her legs wrapped around his waist, urging him to go deeper. Pre spilled non stop as the lewd, slurping sounds drove Devil on.

"Oh Devil......yes," Merriot moaned, her claws digging into his back as her hips moved in sync with his.

Devil panted hard, sweat forming on his body. For some reason this was taking more out of him then usual. Merriot seemed to sense it also as she held his face and gave him a kiss.

"Something wrong?"

"I don't know. For some reason I'm using more energy. I didn't have this problem before."

She giggled at that making him frown.

"I think I know what the problem is."

She got up from under him before turning around on her hands and knees. Raising her six tails high, she looked back over shoulder and smiled.

"Maybe this might help some."

Devil crawled behind her and grasped her hips, sliding his cock against her wet lips making her groan.

"Why are you teasing...eeep," she gasped as he speared back into her depths.

This position gave him more leverage as he began to ravage her body. All Merriot could do was gasp in pleasure as she felt her mate dominate her. Her ears folded against her head as she whined in submission. Something started to rise in Devil. Maybe it was the way her body clung tightly to his whenever he pulled out? Maybe it was the whines she emitted when their bodies collided? Or could it be the new found scents he was smelling? The smell of her pheromones begging him to breed her? Whatever it was, he didn't try to fight as he let out an evil growl and took her harder.

"Oh...god.." Merriot whined, the upper half of her body fell to the ground and shook as her first climax hit hard.

Devil felt her muscles bear down on him causing him to snarl and thrust as hard and as deep as he could. Her nectar seeped out and matted their fur, making the impact of their bodies sound louder. The base of his penis started to grow bigger. Making him work harder in trying to go full hilt. This confused his sex daze enough to look down at their joining.

"What's......happening?" Devil panted.

Merriot whined when he stopped and looked back at him through half lidded eyes.

"It's called....a 'knot'. Males have them to......ensure females are properly......breed. Now......keep going."

He nodded his head before continuing his pace. The more he thrusted, the larger his knot became until it assaulted her labia with each collision of their hips.

"Knot me.....Devil. Become one with me."

"But.....won't I hurt you?"

"Just do....it."

Devil gripped her hips tighter, slamming his hips into hers and pushing that bulb of flesh into her body little by little. Small yips came from Merriot with each strong thrust. She bite her lip and pushed back into him, wanting to truly to breed. Slowly but surely, Devil's knot pushed into Merriot with a lewd pop. Merriot let out a yelp as she felt that knot increase in size a little more before locking them together. Her muscles went to work, massaging and coaxing that life giving liquid to come forth.

Devil let out a whine before hunching over her, pleasure surging through his body as his sensitive knot got caressed by her inner muscles. He thrusted with the limited movement he had, feeling his body shake and ready to claim his prize. Before that happened, something inside his head told him to mark her. To make sure nobody would take away his mate. With a growl, he opened his jaw and clamped down on her shoulder. Merriot's eyes opened wide before letting out a howl as she came violently, clamping down on that knot and demanding his seed. Devil felt the extra tightness which was all he could take. He folded his ears, tail raised high before letting out a whine as he unleashed his seed into her womb. It felt exquisite, feeling the ecstasy run through his cock before it shot another rope of cum into her hot tunnel.

Merriot whined happily, tongue lolling out the side of her mouth as she was bred thoroughly by her mate. The hot seed sloushed around her womb making her feel giddy, wishing she was in heat right now. Her tails wrapped around Devil who was still panting over her. She chuckled softly knowing he probably had the best experience as a wolf instead of a human.

"Are you okay up there? You looked ready to pass out."

Devil released her shoulder before giving her cheek a lick.

"If that what males go through when mating, how do they think straight with all the pleasure going through them?"

"With lots and lots of practice. Don't worry. You'll have plenty of time to be an expert."

Devil chuckled before looking at the mark on her shoulder. Merriot looked also, beaming with pride knowing she belonged to him. Devil tried to pull out but let out a whine feeling trapped.

"How long am I stuck like this for? Not that I'm complaining."

"Anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour."

"Joy. I could get use to this," Devil smiled before letting out a yawn.

He laid on his side, holding Merriot close as they murred happily together.

"My father's going to make you knight commander and leader of his soldiers. Isn't that wonderful? Now we can truly be together."

Devil was quiet which she noticed.

"What's wrong love?"

"I just can't leave my home like that. I'm still in school and the dojo needs to be cleaned and maintained."

"You don't want to be with me?" she asked sadly.

"Merriot, you mean everything to me. But we do come from different worlds and have different cultures."

Merriot let out a sigh. He was right in a sense, but she didn't want to lose him. She interlocked her paw with his and squeezed tightly.

"Will you.....visit me?" she asked.

"That's a dumb question to ask. You couldn't keep me away even if you tried. I belong to you, just like you belong to me."

Merriot smiled at that before letting out a yawn, enjoying his warmth and scent that covered her body. Pretty soon her eyes closed and she fell asleep. Devil ran his paw up and down her side gently, feeling her tail wag softly. He didn't know what to do. He wanted to stay Merriot, but he had to take care of master Iga's dojo and finish school.

"Oh well, I'll figure something out."

WIth a yawn himself, he joined Merriot in peaceful slumber.

Devil sat at his desk, listening to the teacher ramble on about science. He looked out the window into the clear blue skies with the sun shining brightly. All he thought about was Merriot. Could he stay with her, maintain the dojo, and go to school? The bell rang signalling the end of the day as he got up and went to his locker, putting on his shoes and exiting.

Hey D, wait up," Endo said.

Devil looked back to see Endo walk up to him.

"What's up?"

"Glad to see you back in school. How are you holding up?"

"I'll live," Devil replied.

"I managed to get you a date with that girl for the weekend. Are you interested?"

Devil remembered the mark Merriot gave him and chuckled.

"I'll have to pass sadly."

"Dude seriously? What gives?"

"I found somebody else. That's all you need to know."

Endo grinned at that before tossing his arm around Devil's neck.

"Sweet dude. Oh well, I tell her better luck next time. Take it easy man."

Devil watched him leave before heading to the dojo. Walking through the doors, he laid his bag and went to his room. Getting changed into his training clothes, he stopped at Iga's room and knelt down at his picture, clapping his hands twice before saying a silent prayer.

"Why are you being stubborn?"

Devil's head shot up and turned around to see Iga behind him.

"What are you talking about master?"

"Your saying this dojo is more important than your happiness?"

Devil held his head down.

"I just don't want to lose what memories I have of you."

He let out a grunt as Iga whacked him on the head with his cane.

"Dummy. I'm always with you. My spirit is in tune with Masamune so you don't have to worry about little things like that. Don't give up the happiness you just found."

"What about school?"

Iga smiled before rubbing the back of his head.

"I never graduated myself Devil. I dropped out during my junior year. I'm pretty sure you won't need to know much where she lives. And if you do, I'm sure she'll gladly teach you."

Devil smiled at that. Iga was right. Why deny his happiness with trivial things?

"Thank you master Iga. I know what to do now."

"Good. You've made me proud Devil. Continue using the Koga style with honor."

Devil gave a bow, watching Iga disappear. Hurrying to his room, he grabbed a bag and stuffed his clothes into it. He locked all the doors before heading out into the zen garden. Using a scoop, he picked all the goldfish out and put them into a bowl. Heading to the back doors, he took one finally look at the dojo before leaving. Walking to the stream, he dropped the goldfish into it watching them swim away. With that done, he took out Masamune as it glowed purple. Making a cut into the air, he opened a veil and jumped in.

Noel watched his knights train using the strange magic that Devil used. He wanted him to be his knight commander and lead his knights whenever there was a battle, but Merriot told him that he went back home and probably wouldn't be coming back for a while.

"A real shame. He would be a great commander."

Dryst walked up to Noel and gave a bow.

"How is their training coming along your majesty?"

"I don't know. I am unfamiliar with this kind of magic. So I don't know what kind of progress they are making."

"They are coming along slowly, but they'll get the hang of it."

They both turned to see Devil with a bag on his shoulder.

"Devil!? You came back?" Noel said surprised.

"I got some sense knocked into me. If you would have me your majesty, I would be honored to be your knight commander," Devil said with a bow.

Noel smiled before walking up to him.

"The honor is all mine Devil. The position of knight commander is hereby yours."

"Thank you your majesty. Do you have a spare room for me to live in?"

"Absolutely. Dryst, show him to his room."

"A pleasure. This way commander.'

Merriot let out a sigh as she looked out the window of Sun's room.

"Cheer up honey. I'm sure Devil will visit whenever he gets a chance."

"I know mom. I just like having him near me."

"Ah young love," Sun sighed. "Your father and I were the same. You couldn't separate the two of us."

A knock on the door made Sun turn her head.

"Come in."

The sliding door opened as Sun's eyes went wide. Devil held a finger to his muzzle, making Sun smile.

"Do you want to marry Devil, Merriot?"

"If father would give us his blessings, I would marry him tomorrow."

"Marriage huh? I'm kind of young for that. But if it meant being with you, I would be honored," Devil said with a smile.

Merriot's ears perked up as she spun around to see Devil standing there with a smile. She couldn't help but shed a few tears of happiness as she rushed into his arms, holding him tight with a soft whine.

"What are you doing back here?" Merriot asked looking up at him.

"I got my priorities straight. Master Iga told me to be happy. And I'm happy being here with you."

Merriot smiled before kissing him deeply, murring happily as they held each other.

"I'm also the new knight commander, so I have responsibilities now."

"I'm happy for you Devil," Sun said. "You deserve it after all you've done for us."

"Since I don't officially start until tomorrow, want to go for a walk Merriot?"

"I would love to."

They headed out the temple into the courtyard, paws interlocked all the way as they stood amidst the various flowers and held each other.

"Why did you really come back?" Merriot asked.

"I couldn't stop thinking about you. And besides, I like this place a lot better."

"What about your schooling?"

"Bah, I'll get by with what I know. If I need extra schooling, you'll teach me won't you?"

"Of course. But I won't go easy on you," she giggled, sticking her tongue out playfully.

The wind blew a soft breeze around them, kicking up flower petals as they stared into each others eyes.

"I love you Devil, my protector."

"I love you too Merriot, my mate."

They kissed each other lovingly. Merriot happy to have her mate beside her always, and Devil happy to find his destiny in life.
