Chapter 15: The Man With No Eyes...

The Next Day...

"[Groan]" Seje woke up, feeling like his back was cracked all over. "Man, if I wanted to fall asleep on the cold, hard ground I woulda asked to sleep on Golurk..."

He rose off the ground, seeing that the chair he was sitting in had retreated under the desk on its back. Not even looking around, he walked over to their food source-a few boxes labeled 'Food'. It was a lucky find, but they were delivered there five days prior, so they had to eat it fast. He reached in and grabbed a brownie, seeing Kora nearby.

"Kora," he took a bite out of the brownie, tasting slowly aging chocolate fudge and walnuts, "wake up."

The Medic snapped up, having been pretending to sleep to see who else would get up.

"Hey Seje-kun...[Yawn] What'chu eating?" She had heard his rather large chewing and had gotten curious.

"Brownie. Want one?" He held out one for her to grab, which she did with a joy. She opened it and dug in quickly.

"[Munches happily] So Brubber...Where's the others?"

They were to be considered brother and sister at this point, but they had their "own" versions of saying it.

"I don't know Sussy. Maybe they went out." He looked around, not seeing any hide or hair of Chris, Sin or Kuri. Worry filled his heart as none of the doors were propped open. They did shut on you unless you put something in-between them to block them.

"Let's try and find them." he suddenly said, making Kora jump a little before she nodded. Walking around, they took in the condition of the warehouse.

The storm had not did any internal damage to their knowledge. The roof was still holding strong but occasional leaked run-off into the room. The walls were damp from the battery of rainwater seeping through the cracks of the brick material they were made out of. They were lucky there was a bathroom as Kora had to go to the Oval Office for a quick meeting on sale taxes. Overall, nothing that looked broken...

Except for the computer.

When Seje looked at it, it was all black and smoke was rising from it. Now that he had a clear look at it, the chairs around were also burned, almost as if...

"Kora..." he started, "I think something happened to them..."

She walked over to him to see what he was talking about. "What gives you that idea?"

All he did was point at the desolate area at the computer desk. Her mood did a 90 and she grew worried...

What happened last night?...

Lilycove Base-Hoenn-Boss's Office-12:39 P.M...

"So...You decided that it'd be fun and games to try and hack our mainframe?"

Adam was being held captive inside the Base Boss' office, hands behind his back and Bullet in a cage next to him. His face was expressionless, but on the inside he was a squirming storm of nervousness, anxiety, fear and worry all in one. Only for five minutes, he was in there listening to the Base Boss belittle him with every phrase in the book.

"..." Adam did not speak, not in the mood for giving in to the Boss nor trying to speak out of turn.

"Just a simple brat...Trying to be all goody-goody. BAH! It'll get you nowhere in this life..." The Base Boss lounged in his chair, swiveling around while smirking at the boy in his office. A call came in, so he picked it up.

'What?'

'Sir,' one of his guards replied, 'we're getting massive energy spikes to the west of Lilycove, somewhere near the old Safari Zone.'

'Hmmm? That old place? Isn't there a warehouse there?'

'Yes sir. We believe we found a new energy source for L's project. Should we engage?'

At this, the Base Boss thought to himself, closing his eyes to better focus. Should he engage such a priority or try and keep things simple? Step-by-step...No...He wasn't like he used to be...

An Espeon jumped up onto the desk, surprising Adam as it laid down on the desk, being petted by the Base Boss. The look it had on its face was one to be scarred by as its mouth was sewn shut. How it hasn't died from lack of sustenance baffled Adam to no end until the Base Boss spoke again.

'Ready the Tanks.'

Tanks?

'Right away sir.'

Tanks!?

The Base Boss hung up, leaving the room in silence before he spoke to himself, "Only a matter of time before we have the regions on their knees..."

He slowly pet his Espeon on its back, before its twin tails brushed against his mask.

"No. I'm not taking it off Espe. I keep telling you this."

He turned away from the psychic kit, facing the window as the morning sun shone inside and slightly illuminated his full-face mask...

Warehouse-Exterior-14:01 P.M...

Outside the warehouse the Guardians were hiding out in, there prowled a certain being...A cute Eevee walked up to said figure, chirping its curiosity as it sniffed at the figure's weird feet...

[CLING!]

The figure drew a staff that glowed with weird, purple energy, the sharp end pointing very close to the scruff on Eevee's neck. The poor fox kit paled and ran away, crying in fear as the figure continued to watch the warehouse, knowing that his target was in there...

Warehouse-Interior-14:09 P.M...

"Okay Kora...Are you sure you wanna do this?" Seje asked, trying to see at any point did Kora want to back out of this. He had tried restarting the game, but all he got was...

A swirling vortex that looked deadly dangerous with a good chance of death. Good thing they've dealt with this before or whereas their friends would be trapped forever.

Seje had to configure the laptop to keep the vortex open for enough time for Kora to get through.

"Yes Brubber. I'm sure. We have to; it's for Chris-kun, Sin-kun and my sister." Kora responded, standing firm and ready in front of the laptop. Seje nodded before turning the game back on. IN an instant, the same vortex that took the others came out and lashed at Kora ensnaring her into an electro-web that kept her immobile. She was lifted off the ground and slowly inched towards the vortex.

"Remember Kora-." Seje reminded,"- find all the mementos, get the others out of there, find your staff and make sure you don't look back." Kora swirled into the vortex like the flush of a toilet, finally setting in with a pop. The resulting flash went through all the windows for anyone to see...

Anyone...

Game-Starting Area-Kora...

Kora's vision was blackened, having still to recover from the effects of such a method of transportation. Blinking her eyes slowly, her vision returned to the sight of a dim light. Further looking in, she saw that she was in a foyer.

Not much to said foyer. There was a statue of a woman pointing towards the front door in front of her, with a couple of tables to her left and right. Staircases were also in the aforementioned directions that lead to a dark second floor. There were three hallways up ahead, one leading to her left, straight ahead, and right.

'Kora?' Her Com. went off, Seje's voice on the other end.

She responded almost immediately. 'Seje? What's up?'

'Okay, it looks like we can talk from these for now. I think I know how to get you to the others.' Kora had been walking to the left hallway when he said that.

'Really!?' Her squeal was followed by thunder from the storm outside that she didn't notice til now. No reply, she figured. She decided to explore where she was. Who knows? Maybe this big ole house will be an interesting adventure!

Later...

"...This house is BORING!" Kora finalized as she came back to where she started for the fifth time and counting. She had been trying to find somewhere else that didn't either have a bed, dresser and/or table, but she was about as unlucky as the others. During her travels, she had found a glowing key, meaning there was a locked door or chest somewhere. But alas, her luck left her hanging dry like laundry in a drought. She decided to pout by the door. And there...

'[Static]...-ess this damn thing won't work at some places...' The sound of Seje's voice in the Com. made her mood do a 180 and a kickflip.

'Seje!?'

'Oh, there you are, silly Sussy.' His tone was one that contained slight irritation. She had yet to know why.

'How come you stopped talking earlier Seje-kun?' she asked, getting silence at first...

'If you stayed still, you woulda heard me say that the only way we could talk is if you're completely still.' Now she felt silly for not waiting.

'Well, go on. What am I supposed to do Brubber?'

'From what I was able to*-[Clank]-gather, this game is a CreepyPasta version of the original. Apparently someone from a long-ago peace in the world took this game and modified it for-[Bang]-* entertainment purposes...'

The noises on his end seemed to be unnoticed, so Kora kept listening.

'Whoever made this changed a few rules. Or it seems that the game can self-adapt for its environment at where you are. Do you still understand?'

'Uh...Yes?' The tech talk was making her brain hurt, but she persisted. 'Anything else Brubber?'

'Find your staff first; it'll help you find the others. And if you...go night-night for some reason, don't worry; it seems the game gave you three lives to spare. That's more than enough to get used to the area you're in. Don't forget the mementos. Seje out.'

'Okay.' Now that she had a definitive task, she could get moving again. But there was still one problem...

Where's a damn locked door!?...

Warehouse-Interior-15:22 P.M...

"[Sigh]" Seje was still a little sleepy from last night, so once he got done talking to Kora, he set off to find something to wake him up. But not even five steps away from the chair...

[BANG BANG BANG!]

Unless there was a riot outside he didn't start, Seje had no idea who was at the door. And whoever was there wasn't waiting for his answer as the door began caving in from the banging. Something in his gut told him to grab the computer, and right as he did so-

[CRASH!]

The door was smashed inwards and landed at Seje's feet. The cause of such?

The Sentinel.

"I told you...I would come back...Didn't I?" He said in a raspy, echoed voice.

"You made that stunningly clear. What do you want?"

"The device...in your possession..." The Sentinel pointed his bladed staff at the computer that was still in Seje's hands; he was about to place it in Kora's bag.

"You can't have this. Too much is on it for me to just give it away. Why do you want it?"

Seje didn't get an immediate answer; the Sentinel grabbed his staff with both hands ad leaned it forward...

"That is for me to know...And for you...to die trying to figure out." With that, the once-Vault Guardian charged at Seje, blade ready to sever his head from his shoulders. Seje hurriedly moved to his right, barely dodging the slash that would have took off his head cleaner than a Cincinno. The desk was now a victim.

"Look asshole. I don't have time for your shit. My friends are in danger." Seje said, going 'N' with akimbo Unforgivens pointed and ready. The Sentinel stared at Seje, seemingly thinking about something...Before he switched to his angry face with red glowing all over him.

"YOU SHALL BURN!" In an instant, he ignited the room, Seje dashing out a window to get away from the flames. The fire kept going, as if being propelled to get him, so he kept moving to get away, keeping onto the path to avoid starting a forest fire.

"You cannot...run from your eminent doom..." The Sentinel had him in sight, ready to blast him to bits as Seje ran East towards Lilycove...

Lilycove Base-Boss's Office-16:00 P.M...

The phone began to ring again, drawing the Base Boss' attention from the window and petting his Espeon.

'What is it n-?' Not even able to finish his bored question, he was interrupted by one of his head scientists.

'SIR! WE'RE GETTING READINGS OFF THE CHARTS! IT'S ALL COMING FROM THE NEARBY ROUTE! THAT POWER SOURCE IS NEARING! SHOULD WE MAKE HASTE AND ENGAGE!?'

That was a little unnerving; their potential power source was coming here? Surely there was something else going on here.

'Are you sure? Where are they?'

He didn't get a verbal response; instead, he was given a holographic overview of the route to the west of Lilycove. On it, you could see the trees and what-not...before they were torched by a figure. The Base Boss looked closer before seeing that the fire was being directed by-

Was that Wake's project down there!?

'Engage ASAP! I repeat, engage ASAP! Bring me that power source alive and full!'

'RIGHT AWAY SIR!'

The Base Boss hung up the phone, going back to petting his Espeon. The Sun Pokemon flicked its tails against his mask, making him groan in annoyance.

"Stupid cat." He kicked it off the desk, making it fall off and hit the ground painfully. It rose with a shake, glaring daggers at its Master. Adam saw the whole exchange with a grimace.

'If he's like that with just his Espeon, I don't even want to KNOW what happens to the others...' Adam thought to himself. He looked at Bullet's cage, seeing the poor Shiny Quilava was still unconscious from his beating earlier. 'Don't worry Bullet...We'll get out of this...I know we will...Besides...I'm sure that S-.'

[BOOM!]

The Base rumbled, having just been hit by something. The Base Boss was rattled in his seat, struggling to steady himself. The alarm went off, signifying that they had an intruder. The phone buzzed loudly, signifying that he had multiple calls. He put it on speaker, signifying that he wasn't about to answer them one-by-one.

'What the hell's going on!?'

'Sir,' one of his Admins answered, 'we have intruders in the Tank Garage!'

'Who is it then!?'

The far wall flashed a map of the base, Adam marking it down in his head before it zoomed in to a room that was flashing red. On the screen showed the power source they were looking and...

Who was that?

'Do we have an identification on who the power source's combatant is!?'

'No Sir! We'll try as we-!' The transmission was cut off by another explosion, rocking the building from the force.

"Dammit!" The Base Boss cursed, going to his desk to grab his method of defense-A Luger pistol. But this one was different than the normal model...It's not supposed to be long-barreled...Nor is it supposed to be bladed under the barrel...

Nor was it supposed to glow in a mysterious purple.

"Let's see if we can get that power source..." The Base Boss chuckled to himself before the Base shook again, knocking him on his ass. Adam silently chuckled to himself, but as if he knew, the Base Boss rose off the ground, shook himself off and pistol-whipped Adam before walking out the room. The words 'Incompetent brat' were heard on the way out as Adam rubbed his new wound...

Game-Bottom Floor-Kora-Progress: 2/12 Mementos...

"Okay...I can do this..." Kora had been weirded out ever since she's been down here. First, she found a grandfather clock that was glowing in a corner in one of the dead ends here and this weird music started to play. It sounded forewarning and the storm had stopped in its ferocity to show how scary it was for doing so. Leaving the scene in a jiffy, she hurriedly ran off to see a boiler, finding another glowing object. The music seemed to get louder and the storm was-

[Crrrrrrackle...BOOM!]

...Getting louder with every second she searched. She hadn't found hide nor hair of her staff or the others. Kora hoped they were okay...

As she walked past what looked like a bathroom, she saw a box standing on a toilet...She squinted before looking closely to see that...it was glowing. Kora ran to it, grabbing it and adding it to her collection.

[3/12 Mementos Collected.]

Feeling accomplished, she walked out the bathroom...

Only to run into something...Or rather...

Someone...

Before she could even scream, her vision flashed static, a loud noise playing before she was given the sight of a man with tentacles coming out of his back, wearing a suit and tie. He woulda looked like he was late for a funeral...

If he had a face to show it...

Her vision went black before she saw this:

|You died. Continue?|

|Y or N?|
