#3 of In Exchange For Love

This is the story I wrote back in the original days of when I was NightCat, in 1998. I was in Canton, Ohio, USA when I began it, and ended it in Ocean City, Maryland, USA.

There are some some names, like Kel and Raahk and Arrilon, that have appeared in other artists' creations since then, but I mean no intrusion on their creations. This was 17 years ago when these names were orginial.

It's longer and deeper and I wrote it BEFORE GreenMount. It's a big secret from those days, written when I was 18, in 1998, back when furry was so much smaller. I give it to you all now, because this may be my last chance.

It is my gift to you all. From the author of The GreenMount Chronicles, Ball of Yarn, Blue-eyed Diamond, The Butterfly, Warrior Wolf, Joint Interrogation and others, I give you "In Exchange for Love".

Time passed then, as it does when one is enthralled by a new fascination. My thoughts were of Raajin more often than not. A couple of days passed, and I did not see him. I went to the library almost every day, and when I came home I would glance at the knife he gave me and remember how we had first met. What a turn of fate it had all been!

For the next two days I went about my daily routine of working, cleaning my cottage and practicing the little bits of magic I was studying. Sometimes I spoke to acquaintances at the library-- the librarian was an old woman who treated me kindly and kept calling me "little one".

As I walked home one evening from the library, I looked down at the road before me, remembering how I walked with him in the dark forest. Even in the afternoon sunlight I could almost feel how the darkness swallowed us up, how the moonlight had cast down on the two of us through the leaves above. I remembered watching his feet tread over the ground, and the feel of his hand on me.

It was a private fantasy of mine, and it made me smile. No one knew why I seemed happier all the time, or why I would smile wistfully at the night sky as the sun set. At night, as I stretched out on the leather couch, I thought of his naked body, seeing it in glorious detail, his beautiful soldier's muscles. I imagined being close to him again, with no restraints, no even the water between us.

Though I saw no sign of him for two days, I knew I would again. That was the nature of Raajin, it seemed. He would appear quickly, unexpectedly, and then he would vanish with the same nature. And as I lay in bed, caressing myself as I saw him in my mind's eye, I knew he would come for me again.

I knew it.
