#1 of The Wets

after the recent Houston flood (my house got 11 inches of water inside) i have been inspired to write about this setting. This is the first installment, more of a preface of sourts, to give you all a general idea of what the setting is and all that jazz. I'll be posting stories about this place as time goes on, I hope you all enjoy!

A geophage is a planetary desiese, as in the planet itself is sick. There were more than one geophage, all equally devistating, and word changing, however, the folowing will focus on what has become known as "The Wets."

The Wets had started as abnormal climate change, the humidity in affected areas had started to climb, bringing the dew point up with it. As people started to look into the matter, they had realized that other events were taking place, and soon, governmental panic had set in. Scientists around the world were only able to describe the phenomina as a sickness of the planet, and the world governments started to quarentiene effected reagions, constructing walls and floodgates 100 km away from the outer rims of the infections, to give the construction enough time to finish building before the preading could reach the walls. Military personel were assigned to the walls to keep people from entering, or leaving once the walls were finished, baraks and many other systes were built into the walls to make them completely self-sustaining.

As a result of the construction of the walls, the walls had become the safest places in the world, all unighted under one flag, as the global government came together, sharing resources and personell to keep the geophages contained in a massive global effort.

As for those in The Wets, the infection started as low clowd cover, quickly turning into a tall fog, blotting out the sun, making the affected areas no brighter than twilight at mid day. The fog became so dence that water started to form on almost all surfaces. The fog had changed to something closer to a rain cloud. Those living in the Wets had about 1 km of visability, however, with dew points so high, and coverage so tall, water remained continuously forming on walls and other surfaces.
