#4 of Shadow of Space

And here we are friends five weeks, four days of writing, three attempts at writing this descriptions, two missed deadlines and one crazy idea we have finally came to the first part of the "Season" finale, now don't worry I will come back to this, and trust me I am not behind with my work. I am currently getting two chapters per week, and am at the first chapter of a three series, and will give you a preview of both next week, if I don't miss the deadline.

Chapter Four: Markus and Helena, Part One

"As the trial of Markus Picak approached there was tension in the spaceship, on what would happen to him when he was inevitably found guilty. Half of the station called for a public execution, the other half called for us to place his body in the perm-a-brig." The Detective said as he walked down into the security offices, and into a set of large red doors.

"However, I needed more evidence from the hawk to better from my investigation in to the murder." He said as he walked into the brig and looked into the cage that the bird being held. "There was a force field in front of the cage, designed to resist any attack the shadow entity would and could throw at it."

"Oh look who arrived, Inspector Gadget." Markus said from inside the cage, his appearance had changed. He looked much more flighty and harebrained. His eyes were twitching everywhere as if trying to scan everything. There were bare patches of skin over his body.

"I thought about how badly we're treating the prisoner and it seemed a wonder that he wasn't more mentally detached." The detective said to himself as he took into the conditions of the cell. There were shed feathers over the cell and puddles of unknown material in the corner. "I thought to myself that we've really need to upgrade the conditions of cells."

"You don't know who I am, but I'm going to tell you. They created me for one purpose, destruction. I'm not like other hawks and attack birds, I was designed for creating death, my teeth and claws sharper, my powers made for killing." He said if raddling of a list he had created in his head.

"And there will be more of me; the Shadow entity that attacks is one of them. She is a revived saber-tooth tiger. Beware her power; if she wanted to she could have taken you to the void." He said sounding more and more crazy as the one-sided conversation continued.

"I decided to recommend the psychologist to see the prisoner, and would continue from that. Define intervention is need in order to manage the mental conditions of our patients." The detective said as he turned around and exited the cell.

"I wondered where the trio of adventures had gone after capturing the hawk, they were going to testify during the trail, but it was not at the state where they would be required. They most likely used the off-world teleported to go have an adventure or something." The detective said as he moved out of the cell, but the hawk still heard the information.

...

"OK, so this is the red leaf don't touch this one. If you do you will get systems not including to but limited to spinal tingling, random head boils, yeast infections of the foot, and explosion of the liver." Dwight said as he pointed out a deadly poisonous plant to Kory and Marian, luckily, all three were in contained hazmat suits but with Kory, he did not want to take much of a chance.

"Whatever you go do not get out of your suit and touch the red leaf." Dwight said being very clear to the priest, who was somehow wearing all of his priestly wear in the suit. "Also if you get hot tell us, all those layers are going to catch heat."

"What about the green leaf?" Marian said as she looked at the plant, it seemed to red leafs growing around a single large green leaf. However, the green leaf was surrounded by multiple red leafs and probably could not be touched.

"Well if you eat one of those, you can get healed factures, a slightly higher IQ, and general better mood. Those are why we're here don't you two remember?" Dwight asked as he looked at the shiny green leaf, it would be so easy to get if it was not for the red leaves.

"We need to go deeper into the forest and find a rare breed of the plants that live on a mountain side and didn't need to evolve the red leaf, to protect that those predators seem to love to eat." Dwight said as he formed in his hand a machete, started to cut away at the undergrowth, and made a path towards the large mountainside near them.

"Why didn't they just teleport us onto the mountain and repel down?" Kory asked as they traveled into the forest.

"Because, have some fun we rarely go on abandoned planets with overgrowing planets what could possibly go wrong." Dwight said he raised his hand to knock on wood but found none. So instead, he knocked on Kory's head, causing the priest to whimper.

"Ouch, what was that for." Kory said as he rubbed his head.

"Nothing, he was knocking on wood." Marian said, as even she could not resist laughing a bit at the priest's plight. They continued to walk forward into the forest, with Dwight's transparent machete cutting away at all the undiscovered land in the area.

Soon enough the layers on layers of underbrush ended, and they came face first with a massive rock wall. Unlike the walls on earth, which had materials of carbon, calcium and other things, it appeared to be some sort of conductive material. The static electricity on the suit transferred to the copper wall and the plants at the top ignited.

"Well we're lucky that those planets we need are protected, but boy the thunderstorms on this planet must be a blast." Marian said as she imagined thunder striking down and everything around it bursting into flames. "Yeah that would be a real blast."

"OK, start the magnetic climbing gear we have six hours until a massive storm starts and I don't want to be here to find out what rain on this planet is." Dwight said as he pulled a backpack off his hazmat suit and placed it on the ground. He reached into the pack and pulled out six pairs of gloves, and six pairs of boots. All six of the gloves had a large supermagnet on their palms. The boots had their magnets on the sole and tips.

"Ok, come on let's start climbing." Kory said as he grabbed a pair of gloves and boots from Dwight's hands. He pulled them over his white hazmat suit and placed his holy hands on the copper surface. He pulled his feet up and they too connected to the copper surface.

Kory started to climb up the large mountain with Dwight and Marian following him.

...

"I thought to myself what to say and knew to best convey my point I need to say, judge during my unbiased investigation of Scientist Picak I have found that he has suggested that he is either mentally crazy because he has been designed that way, or has gone crazy because of subpar living conditions within the cell. I wondered through weather or not a lesson could be learned through this and I figure that it would be in everyone's interest to upgrade the perm-a-brig, or so that is what I thought." The detective thought as he stood in front of the judge.

The security currently kept Markus in a forcefield with his lawyer being able to convey his thoughts. The representer for the station was standing on the other side of the courtroom; a plain brown wood covered the walls.

The judge dressed in tradition black robe and powdered wig, sat firmly in his seat.

"And thus I thought wondering how my monologue would affect the case, I conclude my monologue." The detective said as he finished speaking and walked back over to his seat in the courtroom.

"Ok, then that was one of the strangest combinations of monologue and testimony I have ever heard." The judge said, "However, it appears to me that Markus Picak can be nothing but guilty for the murder of his wife." The judge said smacking the gavel.

Markus looked down in shame and knew nothing could help him now. The security guards walked over to the forcefield and attached two lines of rope to it. The started to pull him out of the courtroom but the shadow entity appeared in all of her glory.

The jury gasped as the walking shadow quickly disposed of the guards. However, the detective saw how to deal with it last time the shadow appeared. He got of his seat and started to run towards the forcefield and thus the shadow. He jumped over the fence and in one move got over and latched on to the shadow.

However, this time it was different. His body burned as the shadow particles attacked his skin, almost akin to burning him. The detective let go and fell to the ground his body almost smoking.

"Silly wolf, I knew that was coming." She said as her voice modulator turned off and she decided to reveal her true form as a saber-tooth tiger. She growled at the jury keeping them at bay.

"Now then Markus, shall we wreak this spacestation?" The hawk stretched out and walked out of the forcefield stand.

"Ah that's more like it, so now let's get to this. I feel that this spacestation is a too far away from the energy ring to collect its energy, how about we use the thrusters to dip it in?" Markus asked as he turned behind him and looked at the jury.

He placed his hand on the ground; electricity followed out and flew into the jury, knocking them all out. He laughed as he turned around and rejoined the shadow entity; they exited out of the room and looked at the massive protesting crowd before them.

"So, Helena I say as the new captain of this ship, no more shall you protest." He said giving Helena a command as she reformed her shadow entity form and looked at the crowd, causing them to back off. However, before they could run away she formed a massive portal underneath the crowd, which led into space.

The air around them decompressed out into the portal and forced the crowd out into space. They looked down as the air equalized in the section, and saw the people's heads exploding. Helena quickly closed the portal and waited for the emergency scrubbers to replace the nothingness of space with air.

"Well that went well actually, but let's continue on to security." Markus said as he walked forward and entered the security room. He jumped up over the counter and quickly shocked the two remaining security guards and took one of their IDs.

He walked into the hallway and swiped the access card on the door; he entered and looked at all the weapons in the room. He quickly grabbed a pistol and cocked it. Helena looked at him while he walked out of the security room; he walked back out into the hallway.

He walked forward through the hallway and people started to scream when they saw him, running into adjacent hallways and hiding from the two criminals. A few people shot at them as the two walked down, nothing able to change their paths.

They finally arrived at the center elevator, the only one able to access the bridge. Markus and Helena walked into the elevator and pressed the top button on the interface, scanning the security card when the elevator asked for authentication.

"So then after we start to destroy the station, perhaps you would like to go on a date maybe?" Markus asked the saber-tooth tiger. They both blushed in the elevator and looked at each other.

"I think that would be nice, I'd love to go out on a date." Helena said as the elevator reached the top floor. The looked out and no one was currently in the bridge. Markus walked forward and approached the navigation console. On the screen was a schematic of the star from top down and path they had to take in order to stay in orbit.

"Ok switch this to horizontal view." Markus said as he pressed a few buttons on the console and the view switched to show how far above the energy ring they were, which was currently fifty miles below. He opened up another window, which showed their propulsion system. He activated the upward facing rockets on the wheel.

The alarm flashed knowing what he was doing, but he swiped the card and it stopped as soon as it began. The spacestation started to slowly fall towards the energy ring, albeit slowly.

"Well we have about five hours, we should go do something. Doesn't this place have a genetics lab in R&D?" Helena asked as she walked over to the elevator, laying her body against the elevator body, showing off her body.

"Yeah, why would want to use the genetics lab?" Markus said as he walked over to the elevator and swiped the card again. The door opened and Helena fell into the elevator followed by Markus entering the elevator for real. He pressed a few buttons on the interface and the elevator started again.

"Well let's just say I'm looking for a bit of code, and this lab should be able to find it." She said as the elevator took them down to the R&D department on the second floor. With the propulsion rockets firing at their current rate they would have about five-ish hours until the bottom floor of the station started to dip into the energy ring.

...

"Come on Dwight your almost there." Marian said as she reached down and grabbed for Dwight's hand, he was almost at the top of the copper clip and he had a little more to go until all three of them arrived at the top. Marian and Kory pulled Dwight up and all three of them looked around.

"See wasn't that fun." Dwight said as he took very deep breaths, his velociraptor legs were not suited to climbing and he had to use way more force to climb the same amount of distance that Marian and Kory would climb.

"Yeah, I got to look at a priest's butt. Also, you've got a nice butt Kory." Marian said as she looked around the mountaintop, looking for what was around. She saw a few of the green plants. She walked over, grabbed the top of the leaf, and pulled it.

She placed it into a plastic baggy and placed that into her regular backpack.

"Ok, now I'll just call Steve and have him teleport us back to the station." Dwight said as he pulled out a cell phone from his backpack.

"Wait, if we can teleport from off of here then why can't they teleport us here? You just wanted a little fun; station life is too boring for you." Marian said accusing Dwight.

"Oh great Steve must be at the trial, I'll someone else." Dwight said as he called another number.

"Guys, does it look like the upwards facing rockets are blasting the station towards the energy ring?" Kory said as he looked upwards in to the sky, as the planet was in the blue star's system he could see the station.

"Shit." Marian and Dwight said simultaneously as realized what was happening on the station.

"Ok, then we have to get back to the station somehow, you're not their so how can we manage that?" Dwight said as he looked up and saw that he would be out of his ship's teleporter range.

"Well there is this but it might be a bit danger, it's a hand teleport that works off of enough static electricity or by lighting, so if we take shelter during that storm and connect this to the mountain maybe if there's a strike we get teleported." Marian said as she pulled out a handheld device.

"This must be one of the old ones; this one doesn't have a self-powering device." Marian said as she looked at the device. The clouds quickly moved over them as they moved down the mountain said.

"And if we connect this to here, it should transmit the electricity to the device. We just have to connect this to our hazmat suits we should be able to teleport." Kory said as he connected a plug to his suit, followed by Marian and Kory. "And it's raining Rubidium."

They looked up and red clouds had covered the sky and the view of the spacestation. Red rain fell down on their body, their hazmat suits negated any damage it would have done.

Behind them, there was a roar of thunder and another roar. A massive figure jumped out of the underbrush behind them. Dwight was the first to figure it out and quickly jumped out of the way knocking him into Marian and Kory. The action disconnected all three of their plugs but he knocked them out of the way of the beast.

"Crap this happened, we have to either kill it or we have to hold it off and hope to god lighting strikes." Dwight said as he got up and turned around holding Kory and Marian, as they faced against the massive polar bear like beast that mossy red fur and white polka dot spots covered their bodies.

"Don't move." Dwight said as he attempted to appear perfectly still. The beast opened his mouth and growled out, saliva hitting their face. "OK, quickly run!" Dwight said running away, with the beast jumping over the two and chasing Dwight.

"Ok, maybe we can get this teleport working quickly. " Marian said as she watched the beast chase Dwight, she looked in her backpack and found a strange s-shaped object.

"Oh, it's a crank. There must be a hole." Kory pointed out as he grabbed the teleporter and showed Marian the hole.

"You know that would have saved us quite a bit of time." Marian said as she knelled on the ground and started to crank the device. In a few seconds, the device glowed and a holographic sphere formed around them.

"Dwight quickly, you've have to hurry back here!" Marian yelled to the velociraptor who was currently running like a dinosaur to escape the beast. He took notice and charged towards the teleporter. Marian bent down and pressed the button just as Dwight managed to make it back down into the holographic circle with a jump.

With a flash of white light they teleported back to the station with Dwight of course landing on the floor with a thump.

"And the station has gone to hell." Marian said as there was on one in the area, and there was the eerier sound of silence.

...

"And look at that there is one." Helena said as she stood in the genetics lab, looking at a computer screen. They both had entered into a DNA scanner and now they were comparing results, "And you are the father."

The screen flashed and it scrolled down their long DNA shown and pointed out a sequence of DNA that completely the same.

"What is that, why do have two completely same segments of DNA?" Markus said as he looked at the computer screen, taking the information in and looking at it.

"Well that my hawk is the segment that gave us our powers, as well as body modifications. This is what makes us better than every person in the universe, unfortunaly the velociraptor has this segment in his DNA also." Helena said as she plugged her flashdrive into the computer and downloaded the information.

"So then what do we do with it?" Markus said as the two turned around, exited the lab, and entered the medbay. They walked out of the clear doors and into the lobby.

"Well, we can either use this to modify our own DNA and become more powerful or we can create an army of predators." Helena said as she walked forward and out the medbay doors. However, she and Markus paused as she looked forward. "But first, speaking of the velociraptor, let's beat some butt."

In front of them was the teleported gang, they turned around and all three of them faced the duo of predators.

"Now then guys, let me handle this." Dwight said as he stepped forward and in his two hands formed two pistols but with bayonets over the muzzles. The dinosaur ran forward spreading out his arms. He jumped up towards Markus, but the hawk fired a blast of electricity.

The blast of electricity knocked Dwight back against the floor, but quickly stood up pointing his bayonet gun at the two.

"Now then this is a fight, so why don't we actually try." Dwight said as he grabbed the trigger and fired three shots at the two. Helena stepped forward and covered her body in shadow; she opened her arms and let a burst of shadow energy out, hitting the bullets and knocking them of their path.

"Wait you're the shadow entity, but that's impossible." Dwight said, as he stood frozen in the middle of a battlefield.

"Yes, I'm a girl and I did use a voice modulator, but isn't that a little sexist that you think I'm a man at first." Helena said trying to convey her message.

"No, it's really not that sexist." Everyone in the room said including Markus.

"Fine, then what do you want?" Kory said trying to defuse the situation, he stepped up and put his hand in his pockets.

"Well first we want full control of the spacestation." Markus said as he started to rattle off his demands.

"The we want a genetic scanner, with telecoms capabilities." Helena said stepping up and taking control of the situation.

"Well then, I believe my answer to that is go to hell!" Kory pulled the metal chain out of his pocket and it glowed with purple energy as he focused on what he did before. A massive purple shockwave was sent forward and it quickly hit Helena and Markus before they could react.

They were knocked to the end of the hall where luckily for them there was an elevator. They scrambled towards the elevator as they got up and quickly entered the capsule. Markus scanned it with his card and locked it as they disappeared to a different floor.

"What's with the metal chain?" Marian asked as she looked at the show of force that Kory just put on. Kory grabbed it and roped it all in, he placed it back in his pocket after it stopped glowing with psychic energy.

"I don't know metal can conduct my psychic energy, Helena gave it to me when she captured me. She said something about training my abilities to make me a worthy foe." Kory said as he remembered what Helena had told him during the time that she captured him.

"OK, be careful with that only use it with things that you know are trying to hurt you." Dwight said sounding like a strict parent.

"Ok know we need to get to the bridge, and they probably are going to lock off all elevators, so we need to take the emergency vent system, we should be able to climb up a floor and get to the place we need to go." Dwight said as he started to walk forward.

"But first it might help to get you some weapon's Marian and if I remember right there should be a security outpost with a weapons crate, so if we hurry up over their I can protect you because when we get to the bridge they will hurt you if I lose concentration." Dwight said taking the strict and protective parent stereotype to the limit.

He turned around and instead of walking closer to the center of the spacestation, he walked away into a spoke hallway that connected the main sphere the station to the wheels that held the cabins and other systems of the station.

They walked forward and into the wheel of the spacestation. Dwight used the flashdrive to open the lock on the station door and walked into the security check.

"Ok, Marian, Kory, go get the weapons you need I'm going to check the security cameras and see where tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum are." Dwight said as he walked over to a computer and plugged his flashdrive into the port. He looked at the screen and saw the two in the escape bay.

Unlike any other port, security officers had higher rank than most people and could close off the pods. He did as such and two freaked out, they looked around and stood still. If he wanted to Dwight could easily kill the pair by closing off the entrance and sucking the air out of the room, but his pride stopped him.

He instead plugged his flashdrive into his PDA and the security system controls were transferred into the PDA. He stood up and shut down the computer but he kept monitoring the two. Marian came back from the armory armed to bone, with two pistols in hostlers, an machine gun slung on her back, and a crossbow on her left leg and arrow holster on the other.

"Uh Marian, over prepare much." Dwight said as he reopened the door and exited into the wheel. However, there was a sudden shake in the station. The three ran over to the window and found the energy ring had hit the bottom level. The shaking only intensified as the ran through out the hallway. However to their surprised as they traveled through the spoke they found themselves face to face with the combatants.

"So Helena, Markus have you come here to surrender?" Dwight said as they stood right before the spoke started right were the airlock door stood. Dwight realized what was going to happen.

"Crap, quickly get back into the wheel!" Dwight yelled as he grabbed Marian and Kory, he had to get them back to the other side of the spoke, but it seemed so far way. His blood rushed, sweat was bursting out from his head and his breathing intensified.

However, Helena had different plans about it. She engulfed her whole body in shadows, pointed her hand at the floor, and fired. The shadow hit the floor and as it burst, the air sensors with their last bit of electricity sent the message.

The airlock doors shut and the air decompressed out of the spoke. Dwight, Kory and Marian tried to run, but the force of decompression hit them like a brick. The force pulled them back and towards the open void of space. Seconds turned into minutes as decompression pulled them out of the spacestation.

Dwight formed a clamp in his hand and grabbed on to the edge of the floor. Marian quickly grabbed on to his leg and Kory on to her. Dwight looked down and realized that this might be the last time he saw his friends.
