#2 of The Orphan and the Priest

There is nothing gruesome about this chapter. Please feel free to read.

The Orphanage was hitting hard times because of a lack of funds to the archdiocese. The children went to work in the fields of their own free will with Sister Grace and my help. They planted numerous trees which they grew as equally numerous fruits, reducing the cost of living for many with a new food and money supply.

Steven had attended a public school all his life, eating homemade lunches with the occasional school lunch. He told me that he didn't really have any friends at school since no one shared his intense love for the Church. I, with my meager wages, bought Steven numerous candies and chips and soda products because I liked to see him happy. His gray fur and mass growing every day in weight and capacity.

Then, I was surprisingly called to give a speech at the school which Steven attended. Steven was in English Class, and I was called to give an exegesis on G. K. Chesterton's poem _Lepanto. _I knew he loved the poem as much as I did, and he constantly asked me Theological questions about the poem. This obviously caused some discontent among the students, as the poem is not politically-correct.

Afterward, I stuck around a little and saw him get punched around and called names like, "lard ball," "sanctimonious fatass," and "Catholicboy" the last with a derogatory undertone. I talked to him after school about it, and he said they meant no harm. He claimed he like his warm, plush belly; and that he was proud to be Catholic.

A few days later, he took a bold step saying that he trusted me. He told me that he wanted to enter a national food-eating competition. I told him I would support him, but that he would be hard-pressed to find training to win. He was overweight, but he didn't have the monstrous, endless appetite to win. But he said he would look into it.
