#7 of Others

Sorry if this seems a bit rushed, it was more a last moment story so sorry if one or two parts don't make sense. College and Confuzzled made it difficult to focus on writing, hope it's good. Leave a comment, vote or a fave if you wish.

So, I live alone. I don't mind at all, it actually suits me rather well. I'm more of a loner you see. I don't avoid people by nature, I just don't go out of my way to make friends. I lived a pretty normal live by most definitions... well, until today at least. I was making my lunch in the kitchen as a soft whistling sound began in the yard. One of the neighbour had a pair of children so I didn't take much notice. The sound became louder and deeper as it neared, quickly becoming loud enough to make my ears ring.

I turned around in time to see a white form crash into the yard, crushing the slabs without a sound. I ran out quickly and went up to the humanoid form that layed in the cold winter air. Two large wings expanded from the humanoid's form, a light brown and white lion-like head breathed softly in a sleepy daze. I took a moment to look at the naked creature, going down to my knees.

"Oh my God, you're a..." I stammered, I slowly began shook the lion-man, "are you ok?"

"Mmm, not now mother..." He moaned softly, "I have a... a date with a soft... warm cloud."

He seemed to be out for the count. I slowly picked him up in my arms and brought him inside, I layed him softly onto the couch and brought a quilt from upstairs. I sat in front of the couch and looked at the creature's face, the small twitches the whiskers made, the slight flick of an ear. I brought my hand up to his cheek and felt the fur under my hand, making sure that he was still real.

A small purr rose from the creature's mouth and he pressed against my hand, his tongue lapped over my wrist wetly. I smiled softly and stayed there for a second, liking the feeling of his tongue over my skin. His eyes slowly opened and I quickly took my hand away, knowing my cheeks were tinged red.

"W-Who are you?" He said in a slightly deep voice.

"M-My name's... Uh, Charles." I stammered, my cheeks still burning red.

"Charles? I haven't heard of an angel with that name."

"O-Oh, I'm not an angel."

"What do you mean? Where am I?" The lion-man asked, sitting up slowly.

I tried to comfort him back down, putting my hands on his shoulders. "Be careful, you fell a long way."

This got the creature's attention, his eyes going wide. "Fell...? I-i fell? Oh gods... What did I do wrong?" The lion put his paws to his eyes, tears beginning to trail down his soft cheeks.

"What do you mean? Where did you come from?"

"I-I... c-c-came from..." He stopped for a moment, rubbing his feline nose of snot. "I th-think you ca-can call it heaven."

"Heaven? You mean you're an angel, an actual angel?"

"Yeah, I am." He said with a deep breath as he sat up, settling down slowly.

"Why are you here then?" I asked, sitting next to him.

"If you're right, if I did fall, then the gods have banished me."

"Banished you, do you know why?"

"N-no... well, maybe." He said, his cheeks going a little red.

"Maybe?"

"The gods... they are very traditional in relationships. And they tend not to look kindly on those who... well like their own gender."

"So, they banished you because you're gay?" I asked.

"Yes, kinda. But I don't know what I could do now, since I won't be in heaven anymore, and now I'm mortal."

"You're mortal now?"

"Yeah, any banished angel loss their immortality."

"Well, you could always stay here." I suggested, looking straight at him.

"What? Do you mean it? You'd trust me so quickly?"

"Yeah, I've trusted stranger people in weirder situations."

"Thank you!" The lion-man said, his arms going around me in a warm hug.

"No problem," I replied as I gave him a little hug back. "Well, since you might be here a while, what's your name?"

"Gabriel, my name is Gabriel." He replied as he withdrew from the hug.

"Gabriel? You mean THE Gabriel? God's messenger to Mary, that Gabriel?"

"Yes, well one of the Gods messengers."

"You keep saying Gods, does that mean their more than one?"

"Well, yeah. There's one God for each animal species," Gabriel replied.

I stared at Gabriel for a second before replying. "Ok, kinda take back what I said about weirder situations."

"I understand," Gabriel replied. "... Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"May I nuzzle you...? I don't want to be alone right now," Gabriel said as he looked down, almost in shame.

"S-Sure thing," I replied.

Gabriel moved next to me and put his furry head against the underside of my arm, right next to my torso. His wings folded around his body, making a white and feathery cocoon around himself. He slowly purred as his mane ran over my torso, running a paw softly up and down my chest. I put my arm around Gabriel neck, my hand resting just over the tip of his muzzle. Gabriel looked up slightly to my hand as he began to lick it softly.

I felt right, here with Gabriel by my side. I took a second to enjoy this moment. I then slowly moved my hand so Gabriel could lick it easier, which made him purr even more. I picked the TV remote and turned it on, this simple act made the lion-man's eyes widen like a child to a giant, sugar coated lollypop.

"What is this?" Gabriel asked.

"It's a TV, haven't seen one before?" I asked.

"No, what does it do?"

"It shows movies, like a recorded stage performance, and TV shows which are kinda like a continuous story that's performed."

I turned to E4 and the TV showed the very first episode of How I Met Your Mother. I looked down to Gabriel and saw his eyes trained on the screen, giving it his full attention. I relaxed back into the couch, my eyes beginning to grow heavy as sleep began to take over me.

"Charles? Are you alright?" Gabriel asked me.

I jerked up slightly as I woke up from the sleep, Gabriel looked up at me from his place on the couch.

"What?" I asked, seeing the room had grown dark.

"Are you ok? You didn't seem to be moving."

"Yeah, I'm fine. Was just getting some shut eye," I replied.

"Shut eye?"

"Yeah, you know, sleep."

"I don't sleep, least I didn't use to." Gabriel replied.

"Are you tired?"

"Yeah," Gabriel replied with a large yawn.

I turned the TV off and got up, I offered the lion-man a hand, which he slowly took. I lead him upstairs and into my bedroom. Since I lived a rather... uneventful life, I never saw the need to put away my 'toys'. A habit I now regretted as a medium sized, canine themed toy stood proud on the chair. A highly detailed A4 of a tall and brightly eyed German Shepard with his red shaft exposed was blue tacked to the wall. Gabriel gave both of them a look and giggled slightly, his eyes going a little sneaky.

"Sorry about that," I said as I took the picture off the wall and put the toy into a draw.

"Don't be sorry, at least we have a thing in common." Gabriel replied.

"Being gay?"

"No, liking men of the canine variety."

I smiled at him with a slight blush, never before being able to talk about my 'liking' of animal people.

"Yeah..." I said as I sat on the bed. "I've never told anyone of my... of my sexual preference."

"Neither have I," Gabriel replied as he sat next to me.

"Am I wrong? Me wanting to be with someone... someone of your species."

"You're only as wrong as me."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You like animal-men, I like humans."

"You do?"

"Yeah," Gabriel replied with a small kiss on the cheek.

I smiled and rested my head on his shoulder, a soft smile on my face.

"I think it's time to go to sleep," Gabriel said softly.

"Sure thing," I replied as I slowly got up.

"How... do I sleep?"

"You just lay down, close your eyes, relax and let sleep take a hold." I said as he slowly layed on the bed, sinking under the soft quilt.

"Is that all?"

"Yeah," I replied as turned and began to walk. "If you need anything then just call."

"Wait!" Gabriel said as I got to the door. "Can you stay with me?"

"A big angel like you need someone to keep you safe?" I asked with a small smile to show I'm joking.

"No, I just don't like to be alone."

"Sure thing."

I walked back to Gabriel and sat on the bed, putting a hand on his shoulder, petting it softly. He purred slightly at my touch, his eyes closing slightly. I smiled as I continued to pet him, enjoying the feel of fur on my skin. His breathing slowed to a rhythmic, almost hypnotic breathing. Gabriel's breathing then turned to small sobbing, almost silent to my ears, I looked down to him to see tears starting to trickle down his cheek.

"Gabriel, what's wrong?"

"I'm never going back," he replied in a sad tone. "I miss the golden leafed trees with rose flowers, how they looked like a forest on fire in the evening sun."

"It sounds amazing," I replied.

"Thank you."

"No problem," I said with a smile.

Gabriel looked up to me for a moment, "will you stay with me?"

"Sure."

I layed down in front of him, the quilt becoming a small barrier between us as I layed on top of it. Gabriel purred softly as tears continued to fall down his cheeks, although fewer than before.
