51Suddenly there was a loud BOOM! My

spaceship started to move extremely fast towards the third planet. The engine's

warning beeping told me that one engine was down!"Mayday!" I cried

but the radio was not working anymore.I yanked at the

steering and tried to control the spaceship, but the deed was impossible! As I

entered the Earth's atmosphere, everything turned red-hot. I knew that my small

burning spaceship was going to crash somewhere out there and eventually I would

become a roasted wolf! Something hit the engine - must be a small meteor - and

my spaceship lost control immediately. Even worse, the communicator was damaged

too. I did not wish to come to the Earth, I was just passing by only.

The earthlings hated aliens and liked to autopsy them. If they found me

and my spaceship...cold sweat ran from my forehead, I did not want them to open

my head and see my brains, or parted my stomach to see the organs.I checked the stealth

meter, damn, 0%! They could have detected my presence by now, I did not know

where would I crash but somehow they knew, and they would surround me in no

time. And then they would bring me to the Area 51, the alien prison!

"C'mon!" I yelled as I frantically pushed some buttons. None was working,

I could not escape from my spaceship, my spaceship would explode with me

trapped inside!I could see the sea

now, luckily I was going to crash into the sea, because it would be difficult

to find my corpse under the deep blue sea. I grabbed my chair firmly, preparing

for the coming impact, and death! My spaceship juddered

to a halt, not really, just slowed down only. Sadly my spaceship did not

explode because I did not want them to find me. Now my spaceship was drowning.

I saw nothing outside, the screen was smashed and the lights not working at

all. I glanced at the panel to check for damage report, oh my God! All reds, my

spaceship now became a pile of junk. Finally my spaceship

stopped drowning, I reached the bottom of the sea but I did not know the depth.

"What now!" I murmured when I saw water on the floor, my spaceship leaked!

I stood up quickly and tried to do something. Unluckily I did not have enough

tools to stop the leaking!"This is just

great!" I must abandon my spaceship now. I took out a small laser gun from

the drawer. Since the door was jammed, I would blast my way out. I pointed my

laser gun at the door and released the trigger, nothing happen! I tried again

but in vain! The water was rising fast, now it reached my knees! I did not have

enough time to repair my gun anymore. Soon I would be a dead wolf. I sat down

again, closed my eyes and relax. I could feel the water reached my chest.

Finally the water covered my wolf head and I could not breathe anymore. I began

to drink the water, soon my stomach was full and I could not drink anymore. Was

I destined to die here? Before I fainted, I felt my spaceship was shaking. They

were going to find a drown wolf in this ship. I would not feel painful anymore

no matter how they cut my body.******************I blinked and opened

my eyes slowly. Weird, I did not die. What was this place? Where was my

spaceship? "Good morning, how do you feel now?" a girl's honey-sweet voice

came from behind me. I turned leisurely and there she was. Standing after me

was the most beautiful wolf I'd ever seen. I suddenly lost the ability to

speak. I just starred at her.At that moment,

someone smiled and said, "So, this is called love at first sight."A human entered the

room, immediately I answered his smile with a scowl. The man who entered was a

sturdy, middle-sized fellow, some thirty years of age, clean-shaven, and

sallow-skinned. "Who the hell are you?" I looked up at him anxiously."Calm down, he's not

going to hurt you. Hi, I'm Nancy," the female wolf consoled me with soft

words. She looked at me with her big, childlike eyes."I'm Frank, what is

this place?" the girl was so lovely that I could not take my eyes off her."Area 51," Nancy

said soothingly."The

alien tomb - " I dared not complete the harrowing thought as I starred

at her as if she were a phantom.I recoiled in horror.

"Miss Nancy, when are they going to autopsy me?" I asked."Autopsy!" the

human cried, and then he choked and laughed again until he was obliged to lie

back, limp and helpless, in the chair.Nancy looked at me in

amazement."Mr Frank, what're you

talking about?" she asked at last."Are they going to...

rip open my body and...study my organs? Or torture me forever?" I answered

frankly, mopping my forehead.Nancy sat down beside me

on the chair and patted me kindly on the shoulder. "Of course not! Why must

they do that? What makes you think so?" she said reassuringly."From the TV, they

said that Area 51 is the place to enslave aliens, the government tortured and

then kill the aliens eventually," I explained with my eyes opened wide. The human chuckled and

wriggled in his chair, as was his habit when in high spirits. "Frank, you're so

funny," he interrupted.Nancy suppressed a

giggle. "Mr Frank, you've been cheated by the TV shows. Actually, Area 51 is

our safe house. Many of us crash-landed on this planet, the government brought

us to here and helped us to go home," she explained away my fears.I clapped my paws

softly together and chuckled. "So, I'm safe now? No one is going to eat

me?" I said after a long silence.Seeing my confused

look, Nancy took my paws and began to explain. "No one is going to eat you, or

any aliens here."The human sat up in

his chair in considerable excitement. "Nancy, I think this is his first time

visiting other planets, and no one told him about Area 51. Frank, where did you

come from and why did you come here?" he asked excitedly."Planet Peace, a small

planet near Mars. I live in Bayport, a small but thriving city of ten thousand

inhabitants, located on Barmet Bay, three miles inland from the Central Ocean.

I was passing by this planet when a meteor hit my spaceship," I answered,

returning to my natural manner."Poor wolf," he

said, commiseratingly, after he had listened to my misfortunes. "Don't worry,

we'll help you to go home. Nancy, bring him to my office after twelve o'clock.

I got works to do now.""Yes, sir."After the human left

the room, Nancy turned to me. "I'm one of the nurses here, since you're a wolf,

the Commander chose me to help you. Well, same species are easier to get

together, don't you think so, Mr Frank?" she smiled affectionately at me."I agree," I

observed with a smile. "So, what happened to my spaceship now?"Nancy let out a small

laugh. "When we found your spaceship, you're trapped inside and your belly

bulged until it was going to explode. It was a miracle that you woke up so

fast. Come, this way." I looked thoroughly surprised at her narrative.I followed Nancy into

a room where I saw more humans and anthros. "Mr Frank, don't make any troubles

here, or else you'll be in big troubles," Nancy said gently.******************Soon I saw the sky

again. It had cleared in the morning, and the sun was shining with a subdued

brightness through the dim veil which hangs over the great city. Suddenly I was

so hungry that my stomach's rumbling. She stared at me in astonishment."I suggest we eat

breakfast first," Nancy said and I agreed.Nancy led me to a

hawker centre. At first glance, these stalls resemble walk-in closets,

cluttered with cooking equipment and ingredients. "Don't let their size fool

you - these cramped little kitchens punch far above their weight," she

explained.For five minutes or so

I was oblivious of my surroundings. All I did was to eat and eat until nothing

was left on the plates. When all the food was finished we ordered glasses of

sweet sugar cane juice to drink. I finished off two glasses. How wonderful it

was to have such food and drink."Miss

Nancy...burp...sorry, I'll pay you back...burp...sorry again...after I created an account

here cough cough."Before Nancy spoke

again, she finished the delicious apple pudding on her plate. "He! he! You are

a funny one," she chuckled. "It's ok, you don't need to pay me back, I'm

glad that you're already fully recovered."When we stood up, a

waiter came to clean the table."How's this place?

Does Chinese food agree with you?" Nancy asked with a grin."This dish is to my

taste," I said, nodding approvingly; "I can't believe this is Area

51."Five minutes later we

were in the street, walking towards the landing field. "We've the best

engineers here, you can take this opportunity to upgrade your ship," Nancy

remarked.I considered for a

moment. "Sure, I'll check with them later," I answered. We had reached the

landing field as we talked. I saw my own spaceship, as well as other

spaceships. Some anthros were running around and busy repairing my spaceship. A

skunk approached us, "Hi, I'm Thanara. Your ship is seriously damaged and we

need roughly one month to fix it. We are trying to repair a breakdown in the

refrigeration system now."I smiled and rubbed my

paws, "I'm Frank. What hit my ship?"Thanara looked round

me with curiosity. "A debris, space junk, you're not the only one hit by it. It

destroyed your main engine and short circuited the computer systems," he

answered, thoughtfully.I pricked up my ears.

"Can you please upgrade my ship?" I said hopefully."Sure, I suggest you

install Gideon - an AI - to secure your safety and talk with you whenever

you're bored," Thanara advised.I gave a gesture of

relief, "So, how can I help you to speed up your work?"The skunk shrugged his

shoulders. "Nothing, luckily the blueprint of the ship is still readable. At

the meantime, why not spend your time with this lovely girl, as there is

nothing you can do here."Nancy looked perplexed

for a moment. I gave a whimsical smile. "Thank you, have a nice day," I

said.******************After we left the

flying field, Nancy spoke up, "This is a small place for us to take a break,

not to stay. That's why we're getting low salary, they don't encourage us to

work for long term here."I asked curiously.

"How long have you been working here?" I looked at Nancy admiringly."One year. I liked

this place because I can meet different kind of species every week here."

Nancy chuckled good-naturedly. "You see those walls? Don't climb out, for that

is human's territory and you need a special permission to visit the humans. If

you did climb out without permission, you'll end up in the circus for the rest

of your life, and we won't help you," she cautioned."I won't," I

promised fervently. "So this is our world, sponsored by the Government? Why are

they helping us? Can we trust them?" I asked in undisguised wonder.Nancy's eyes sparkled.

"Yes, some of the humans are afraid of us, but some are willing to work with

us. Earth is resourceful planet and many aliens came here to extract materials.

So the Government built this place far away from the human's territory so that

we don't scare them. In short, the Government tried to make friend with us so

that we won't disturb them."I thought a moment,

then said, "I see. When bad alien attacks them, they'll ask us to help

them?"Nancy glanced at her

wrist watch and saw that it was after twelve o'clock. "Yes, that's their main

purpose - fight fire with fire. Now let's go visit Mr Jerry, our Department

Head."As we made our way to

the Aeon Building after leaving the landing field, Nancy gave me a few more

particulars about the Department Head whom would be my boss.Nancy showed me a

small building, "Welcome to the Aeon Building. The Human Resource Department is

located at ground floor," she said with a smile. I was surprised again to

see aliens and humans working together. Some humans greeted us with a wave and

a broad smile. We also greeted them warm-heartedly."Mr Frank, we treat

each other with respect and dignity," Nancy replied. Then she continued,

"This way."Finally we stopped in

front of a door and Nancy knocked the door gently. The door opened and I saw

the same human sitting in front of a desk, two cats stood behind us and one of

them closed the door.He pointed at the

chairs in front of his desk and said, "Hello, I'm Jerry. Please have a

sit."After we sat down,

both cats sat behind us. They were about four feet tall only. She donned a

single-shoulder short top that left her midriff bare and a skirt made of

different hanging pieces. His outfit was asymmetrical, having only one glove on

his left hand.Jerry smiled broadly.

"They're my bodyguards. Don't slight them, they called themselves The Lightning

Cats," he said. "I know you won't eat me but just in case. Anyway, I'm

glad that you look very alright now.""Thank you for saving

me, Mr Jerry," I began."You spaceship is

badly damaged, of course you must pay for the repairing fees. When are you

going to pay for the bill? You can pay half of the amounts now," Jerry

asked at the writing table, he was typing something on his notebook.I listened as Jerry

further explained, "Your ship will be re-modeled in order to install Gideon and

new cooling systems. They're working 24/7 so that you can go home ASAP."I was immediately

interested. "I'll pay full amount now, Mr Jerry. Thanks for the efforts,"

I said.Jerry leaned forward

expectantly in his chair. "Cool, give me your bank name and account number.

Bingo! Luckily still can locate your bank. Ok, now scan your paw here and enter

your password, this is the amount you're going to pay - after installing

Gideon."I checked the amount,

luckily not so scary. I scanned my paw, entered the correct password the

transaction was completed in less than five minutes. "So, Mr Frank,

what're you going to do now?" Jerry offered. "I can give you a short-term

job to cover the bills. Or you want to eat and sleep for the rest of the

month?"My face brightened. "I

need a job," I said. "Any kind of jobs will do.""Nancy, bring him to

see the Head of Librarian," Jerry said sternly. "Remember, don't break the

rules. Any questions?"I shook my head,

profusely thanked them again for rescuing me and we left the office."Mr Frank, there's a

very simple job for you, the Librarian. What say you?" Nancy asked with interest.

"Why not?" I replied with a broad grin. "I like reading." Then,

becoming serious, I added, "I won't break any rules here, don't worry."

"The food here is cheap but the accommodation is expensive and we're not

allowed to build our own houses. So, you either sleep inside your own ship, or

share room, or sleep near the forest. Since your ship is still under repair, I

don't think you can sleep inside for now," Nancy remarked.

This was bad, I was going to spend my nights near the forest for a month?

"Some aliens are more open minded than human, they don't mind sharing rooms

with opposite gender. Do you want to stay at my place and pay half of the

price?" Nancy went on.

"Yes but..." I said, shocked. Nancy was so open-minded.

Nancy's eyes began to sparkle and color came into her cheeks. "It's lonely to

stay alone, we can share information if you like to," she said. Then she

chuckled. "Luckily we don't need to wear clothes, this alone saved us a lot of

money."

I looked thoughtfully at Nancy. "I agree, and I accept your kind

invitation." I declared in genuine surprise.

After I successfully applied for the position of Librarian, Nancy led me to the

Aeon Square. "Remember this place? The delicious hawker centre?"

"Yes, I can smell Satay."

"There're only two places to fill your stomach here. One is that hawker centre,

from seven morning to seven evening. The other is over there, from seven

evening to seven morning. Some anthros and humans tend to love night

life."

I had an instant answer. "Owls and bats."

Nancy gave a mischievous smile. "As I said earlier, this is a small place. So,

I don't think you need a map or a transport. See that motel? Come, this is the

only place to spend a night."

When Nancy approached the information counter, the girl stood up slowly from

the chair and smiled at us. She looked young and pretty. The elegant gown was

based on a dragonfly and was done primarily in dark colors. It has a layered

skirt with an A-line waist and round sleeves.

"Room 88, please. He's going to share room with me."

The lovely girl took out a device and placed in front of me, "Sir, please scan

your paws here." She began busy operating the computer, "Thank you, have a

nice day," she said with a twinkle in her eye.

We barely reached the lift when the receptionist suddenly said, "Mr and Mrs

Frank, have a nice day!"

We reddened in embarrassment. "We...not married...yet...good day to you too,"

Nancy replied.

After we left the counter, I wondered why Nancy did not take any keys. She was

fully aware of my thoughts. "We don't need any keys to open doors and

lift," she chuckled and said.

When we stood in front of the lift, Nancy added, "You need to scan your paw

here after 10p.m."

A couple walked out from the lift, "Hey Nancy, new boyfriend?"

"He is Frank, a normal friend. Mr and Mrs Reset," Nancy said, introducing

us.

"Frank, nice to meet you. When did you arrive? What are you up to now?"

the man asked in undisguised wonder. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with a

mop of dark hair and heavy, solemn brows that were offset by a boyish grin."How are you?" I

said cordially. I gave him a short sketch of my adventures."I'm terribly

sorry," he remarked sympathetically. "Luckily you met her.""Can I touch you and

take a photo with you?" the woman interrupted suddenly, smiling at my

expression of surprise. "This is my hobby, you can reject if you feel

offended." A pink silky ribbon embedded within the mop of golden curls

covering her head, acting as a natural wig given to her by the almighty

creator."Not at all," I

answered, earnestly. I did not have the heart to reject the woman.Ten minutes later."Thank you, Mr

Wolf," she said and the conversation drifted away into other channels. After they left the

motel, I turned to Nancy, "Did she do that to you too?""Yes, can't blame them

because they seldom see an anthro," Nancy remarked, chuckling at my

surprise.

A few minutes later, we were standing in front of Nancy's room. "Frank, scan

your paw here to unlock the door."

I scanned and there was CLICK sound, Nancy pushed the door wide and closed it

after we entered the room. "This is the living room, she said." The living

room contained a three-seater sofa, two armchairs with LED TV on the wall and

some comic books on the dining table. "In my opinion, home without a living

room like the body without the spirit. The bathroom is over there, separated

from the toilets," she said.

"This is my bedroom," Nancy opened a door gently. It was small but

beautiful. The walls were purple, except the pink ceiling. Her bed was in the

middle of the room, surrounded by two drawers and small bookshelf. There was a

study table with a PC on it near the windows.

"This is your room, you can switch on the air-cond if you feel hot," Nancy

opened another door gently. My room was painted with white, it made me feel

comfortable and relaxed. The queen-size bed was covered with red sheets. An

empty bookshelf was located beside the study table near the windows.

"This is a very lovely room."

Nancy grinned widely. "We're not allowed to cook here, I'll take a shower

first, you can have a look around."

After we took turn to shower, we walked out from the motel, "You can buy almost

anything from this 7-11. If not, there's a small shopping mall inside the Aeon

Building," Nancy started to say.

"Oh I see."

"Frank, want to see the lake? It's still early."

"Sure," I asked eagerly. "Where is it?"We sauntered through a

natural avenue of trees, it was shady, dark and cool almost cold. As we came to

the end of the trees it opened up into a lake. The air was warmer, the sounds

of insects were almost too loud. The lake seemed like a black void, the sun

bouncing off its surface."Visit on a hot

weekend; fishing, boating, and swimming are just a few of the activities you

are likely to see. However, not so many visitors during weekdays," Nancy

commented."I'll surely pay a

visit to this place someday during weekends.""We found you just

outside this lake. If you didn't fall into the sea out there, you're already

dead by now.""I concur," I

said sincerely. We did not stop for

long, soon we're heading to the other hawker centre. "See that hospital? I'm

working at there now," Nancy said."I see, really nice

place.""Let's fill our

stomach now."It was about seven

thirty and the tables around the stalls were nearly filled with people. Young

and old, anthros and humans, fat and thin of all shapes and sizes came here to

enjoy in the many varieties of food available. I saw the mee seller feverishly

at work trying to cope with the orders for his mee. Some of his customers were

already eating. Chopsticks and spoons dug into the bowls of mee. Other

customers waited patiently for their food.Every table has a

table number indicated on it. "Some stalls owners will ask you for your table

number when you order. They'll prepare the food and deliver it to where you sit

and you pay them when they send the food to your table," Nancy explained,

smiling.After Nancy ordered

her food, I approached the mee seller to order a bowl of mee. He asked me to

scan my paw first, I scanned and informed him the table number. Soon he printed

a receipt for me to keep.Ten minutes later, the

mee arrived. Luckily he provided me both chopsticks and fork. I began to eat

with the fork only. "Frank, you don't know how to use chopsticks?" Nancy

asked in surprise and I shook my head.Nancy's face lighted

up as she said, "Then it's time for you to start learning, I'm willing to teach

you.""How about now?"

My eyes sparkled in anticipation. After we finished our

dinner, we went to the 7-11 to buy some man's stuffs, and then we returned to

the motel."Phew! I'm full

now," Nancy said.I nodded, "Me

too."After I entered the

room, I gazed at Nancy affectionately and several thoughts raced through my

mind."What's wrong? Did you

forget to buy something?" Nancy asked me worriedly.I lowered my voice.

"Nancy, can we increase our friendship?""I know what you mean,

but we better clean our muzzles first," Nancy said enthusiastically.I grinned. "Sure, you

wash first," I said. "I'll go and buy condom now.""You don't need that,

I don't mind," Nancy suppressed a giggle.******************

Three months later, I walked to the landing field again with Nancy.

"Good morning, Mr Frank, your ship is fully repaired and upgraded!"

Thanara declared gaily.

The outlook of my ship was a bit different but I did not care. "Finally!"

I said, rubbing my paws.

"Come, Mr Frank, meet your new partner - Mr Gideon," Thanara said as we

entered into the ship.

"Good morning, Frank."

I did not see my new partner. I felt like I was talking to an invisible man.

"Good morning, Gideon."

"Frank, I can see you and communicate with you through the small cameras."

"Thank you Gideon."

"Mr Frank, I propose you fly back to your planet one time so that Gideon can

record down the route. After that, you can switch to auto pilot whenever you go

home. If you want, you can also download the route into your friend's

computer," Thanara said earnestly.

"This is breathtaking!" I cried excitedly. "I'm going to try it now. Apart

from Gideon, anything new?"

"You can now fly at Mark Five, however your ship is not built to fly above Mark

Five," Thanara replied. "Gideon will tell you about your new engine on the

way home, good luck with your new toy.""Honey,

do you want to come with me?" I said, kindly, putting my paw upon Nancy's

shoulder. "This will be a fun ride."

"Sure, hubby," Nancy responded. Her eyes twinkled. "I can't wait to visit

your planet."

"Ok, I'll go to the control room now," Thanara spoke up excitedly.

After Thanara left the ship, I locked the door. "How beautiful!" Nancy

exclaimed softly.

I examined the new devices and raised my eyebrows. "Can't believe he built a

toilet for me," I said with a grin. There was a small room with 'Toilet'

written on the door.

Soon we reached the bridge.

"Wow! Just wow!" We exclaimed as we sank into comfortable seats.

I checked the brand new panel. "Mr Frank, can you hear me?" Thanara asked

from the control room.

"Loud and clear, thanks for the toilet," I remarked.

"See the timer? You can take off in five minutes. Glad that you like it, I

didn't modify the control panel, still same old interface," Thanara said

keenly.

"Cool, you're a genius," I praised Thanara.

Shortly, my ship was already above the planet Earth. Nancy's cheeks were

flushed and her eyes danced with excitement.

"Frank, do you want to enable the lock feature? I mean, who else can access to

your ship in future?" Gideon inquired suddenly.

"My wife only," I replied.

"Mrs Frank, please show me your paws, do you want me to synchronize with your

computer system?" Gideon responded.

"Yes, please," Nancy spoke up.

"Scanning...done. Nancy, twenty five, same age as Frank. Ok, found your computer

system, link established. Lock feature enabled, now Nancy can also access this

ship. So, Nancy, do you want to modify your lock feature?" Gideon offered.

Nancy nodded with a smile.

"Wait...ok, lock feature updated, Frank can access your ship from now on. Frank,

do you need my help?" Gideon added.

"Yes, can help me to avoid the space junk?" I said cheerfully.

"Shield activated, I'll draw out the safest route for you now, I'll use this

route whenever you switch to auto pilot. FYI, there're no other ships ahead of

us, you can continue with Mark Five," Gideon concluded.

I gripped the arms of my chair in excitement. "This new system is so

cool!"

"My dear," Nancy said, laying a paw on my arm, "You look like the cat that

swallowed the canary. No doubt Gideon is the best AI."

"With this speed," I commented, smiling. "We can arrive home in no

time."

Nancy's eyes danced. "When you're free, you can also install songs and latest

news."

Soon, we saw a blue planet. Immediately I reduced speed and entered the orbit

slowly. "Gideon, this is my house."

"Frank, route recorded, you can use auto pilot next time," Gideon replied.

"Hubby, you've a nice house! I'll show you mine next time," Nancy

exclaimed joyfully.

"Thanks, let's take a walk for a while," I laughed gaily.

As I landed beside my house, a group of anthros gathered about my ship. I

introduced my future wife to them. They congratulated me and chatted with us

for a moment. After we entered into my house, Nancy sat on the sofa and smiled,

"You've a nice house, are you sure you don't want to work at your hometown

anymore?" she questioned teasingly.

I gave Nancy an affectionate hug and kiss. "I want to see you every day."

Nancy's pretended to pout. "I'm okay with your funny plan. Oh, don't forget to

bring your notebook."

"I'll go and take now," I said with a wink, "come, let's try the breakfast

here before we go home."******************

One week later, we returned to my hometown again. This time, we entered the

Marriage Registration Office together. When we came out from the office, there

was a small tag hanging on our neck. Since our fingers were too large to wear a

ring, we decided to wear a tag instead.

When we returned to Area 51 again, we changed our status to 'Married and not

available'. And Nancy changed her name to Frank Nancy.

"So, do you have a new plan?" Jerry snapped his fingers.

"We'll stay here until we got a baby, then we'll think about next plan," I

said with enthusiasm.

"Sometimes, no plan is also a good plan," Jerry grinned. "I wish you

success and fulfillment in the years ahead." We

all shook hands, my wife and I thanked Jerry and left his office happily.Five

years later, we bought a new spaceship which could fly at Warp Eight. The

end.
