#1 of Light of the Heart V2

**Hi SoFurry. It's been quite a while since I put something on here. The reason is because I'm definitely not a writer. I'm pretty content just reading everyone's amazing work on here and yet I still always daydream about fantastical scenarios and feel like I can put them down on paper, errr word document. I feel bad because I know how it feels to get into a story and feel disappointed when you get to the latest chapter only to find that the author has given up on it for some reason or another. I deeply respect each and every author here and understand that they have lives to live outside of the internet or other business they would rather attend to. In any case, here's this thing that is going to be the replacement for the original "Light of the Heart" which I was not satisfied with hence "V2". I'm stating now that I might very well leave this to rot like the previous iteration and will post chapters as they're finished which may take obscene amounts of time. I am working on this in the name of enjoyment for myself and maybe yours too. In any case I hope you enjoy this little bit of what i imagine from day to day and I'll progress it further as I feel inspired to do so. Also this series will eventually have some gay romance if I get up to that point so if you don't like that then I trust you know what to do.

Oh and if you get some of the vague name references I put in here you can kill me for my unoriginality ^_^**

He felt as if he was floating in midair. He remembered going to bed earlier and very little after that. He assumed he had fallen asleep and was now dreaming but was surprised when he could identify his situation as such since he had never experienced a lucid dream before in his life. Although the sudden occurrence was surprising it was more of a pleasant surprise so he decided to go along with this new experience. He started by finally opening his eyes which he had kept closed while mulling the situation over.

What he saw was...white.

Literally all he could see was a vast expanse of whiteness without even the slightest sign of an end or a beginning. It reminded him of how he imagined the universe was before it began without having to include the concept of "nothing" of course since white certainly wasn't "nothing." He couldn't get a bearing of where he was at all since he had no surface to cling to and no objects to mark his position with. The experience made him somewhat dizzy as he floated aimlessly across the blank space.

After finally giving up on trying to do something other than float and gawk he just waited wishing for something, anything, to happen that would break the eerie nothingness he found himself trapped in. Fortunately his wishes were answered when he heard a thunderous crackle from behind and turned around to see a mass of radiant blue energy discharging not to far from him. He was both relieved and afraid and willed himself to stay calm as the energy began to take the form of another being.

After the apparent "transportation" completed the energy storm cleared and revealed a creature which he found both majestic and terrifying despite his secret desire for such a being to exist on his world. The space before him was now occupied by the presence of a gigantic, golden eastern dragon. It was about 20 times as long as his lacking 5"4 frame and yet he couldn't look away partly because he knew that he would never be able to escape and partly because he found it extremely beautiful. Its scales emitted a radiance which somehow outshined the white void that surrounded them and he could feel the power that resided within the dragon just by being near it. The dragon's piercing gaze tore right through his flesh and into his soul as it regarded the boy carefully. Despite the unmistakable feeling of intimidation that he felt he could also feel a soothing aura as if the dragon was trying to make him feel more comfortable.

With difficulty the boy mustered up some courage and spoke.

"U-um hello?" he said in a voice that did not betray his fear. Then, the dragon did something he did not expect. The curves of his maw which had been positioned to form a neutral frown smoothly curved upwards. The dragon, now wearing a warm smile finally spoke.

"Greetings young one." The dragon said in an extremely deep yet soothing tone that showed both his power and gentleness. "I was wondering when you would come to your senses and speak" he said as he chuckled. In response the boy calmed down a little and collected his thoughts for a moment.

"Sorry about that, um, if it's not too much to ask, where...exactly are we and who are you?" the boy said still a bit nervous at the whole situation.

"To answer your first question, you are now located in what is called the Beetwixt; The plane that both connects and separates your world from my world." the dragon said.

"I'm sorry but...your world?" the boy interjected with a puzzled look on his face.

"Yes, there exists a world parallel to the one you are accustomed to called Runeterra. This world is extremely different from your own but the fact still remains that they coexist and cannot be without the other. My name, given by the people of that world, is Bahamut and I am their God of Creation. I indirectly govern birth, inspiration, and other concepts of creation." the dragon explained.

"You mean, you're a GOD?!" the boy exclaimed in astonishment. He always imagined fantastical worlds other than his own and often daydreamed about living in such worlds but he never imagined he'd gain knowledge of the actual existence of one. Let alone meeting a GOD of said world.

"Indeed, I am one of the many elemental dragon gods of that plane known simply as "The Dohvine". Examples of others include Caius God of Darkness, Mithra Goddess of Light, Terros God of Earth, Gheddos God of Destruction, Brez God of Wind, Akriloth God of Fire, Aria Goddess of Water, and Krenos God of Lightning. There are others but the ones I have mentioned should be enough to emphasize my point. We all hold power over certain aspects of Runeterra but we are not able to have direct influence as this would upset the balance and cause a catastrophe. In terms of our role we ensure that the balance previously mentioned is preserved by keeping each other's overall strength in check. For example, it is my responsibility to balance Gheddos' destruction with my creation and vice versa." Bahamut explained.

"Okay...so, why am I here then? I definitely doubt my lone existence is meaningful in the mechanisms of all this." the boy questioned. Sure he could clearly understand the concept of what Bahamut was talking about but that didn't explain what the point of him, a regular human who wasn't even from the dragon's world, knowing this was.

"Well, I honestly cannot tell you why you of all beings was chosen but I can tell you your intended purpose based on past experience with this situation. You see, we of Runeterra's Dohvine Plane can have no direct influence on the events of the world below as explained before, however we can somewhat get around this through our avatars. In a cycle that has repeated itself since the beginning of our existence our powers manifest on the mortal plane as personal avatars which represent each of us. We do not choose our avatars. They are simply chosen by a force beyond even our understanding. In any case, an avatar contains a small portion of their respective god's power in its purest form. For example, Akriloth's avatar would have a natural affinity and superb control over fire compared to anyone else in the world. Of course in the name of balance these "gifts" have limitations specific to each avatar. At times we may communicate with our avatars to have them carry out our will but this is where we are again limited since the choice of how the power if used is left entirely up to the individual. As such, my understanding of why you are here is that you are my next avatar and therefore will carry within you the element of creation once you arrive in Runeterra.

"M-me? But I'm not even from Runeterra! How could I be the one chosen to represent a god of another world!?" the boy exclaimed.

"Again, I cannot tell you. I do not understand it myself. This is something unheard of, even for me. Never before has a being from Gaia, your world, been chosen to become an avatar let alone cross over the Beetwixt. All I can say is that it is too late for regrets since events have already sprung into motion. Do not worry young one. It is my duty to watch over you and should you require my guidance you need only call out to me with your mind." the dragon stated.

Just then the boy's body began to dematerialize starting at his feet and then the fading effect slowly traveled up his body. He panicked and looked up to Bahamut who only maintained his calm gaze on the boy.

"W-wait! What about my friends!? What about my family!? They'll worry about me you can't just force this n me!" Everything below his neck had now dematerialized and he could no longer speak as the bottom half of his head faded.

The dragon, frowning in empathy began to glow in the same blue energy he had arrived in.

"Do not fear. Although it is likely we will not speak again for some time, know that I am always with you and all you must do is keep moving forward along the path that has presented itself to you. I know it is much to ask of you but please, as a friend I ask you to help protect the world my brothers and sisters as well as myself treasure above all else." Bahamut said as his body was devoured by the blue light.

Just as the entirety of the boy's vision completely faded to black the last thing he heard was.

Good luck, Darius
