#5 of Into the Darkness

It wasn't a pub. It was half an aircraft hangar, with a large board hun askew over the doorway with 'Murphy's Pub' scratched into it. I was still being dragged along by Corduth and his mate, whom I couldnt remember to save my life. His mate was massive though, standing at just over 11 feet and a deep green scale set. Made me not speak unless addressed to, which made him laugh, and try to explain how he wasn't going to hurt me.

"Really little one, I won't harm you, I promise." he laughed, as he reached out a paw to place on my shoulder, as I flinched backward, before shaking my head, keeping my eyes averted low.

"Sorry sir, but when you can pull my spine out and off with my skull easily with one arm, means I am a little hesitant around you." I said softly, as I scratched my arm, pushing up my uniform, which they thankfully let me keep, as the air had a bit of a chill today.

He nodded, as he released my shoulder, as the warmth slipped away from it, as he stood at the entrance. "Ready?" Corduth asked me, as he grinned happily.

"Sir, I have had feral drakes chase after me and I have been more amused." I said in a shaky voice, worried I would be killed inside without a second glance.

"You will be fine." He said, as his mate gave me a nudge with his tail forward, as they both walked inside, as I now hung close to the large one whom I had admitted just a moment ago to being afraid. However, as I got inside, I was surprised.

Inside lay a mass amount of tables, as the bar, an island all its own in the midst of them, lay hundreds of dragons, some anthro, some feral, all mingled and laughing. Pool tables sprung up randomly around the pub, as the balls were the size od grapefruit rather than the smaller, human version. I felt myself as a small person in a dollhouse as I walked over the worn wooden boards, following the two as they walked over to the bar, grabbing themselves a drink. "What do you want little human" His mate asked me, as he looked down.

"Um, just a water." I said, trying not to be a burden.

"Come on, my treat." He offered, a warm smile on his maw, which helped calm me a bit.

"A coke then." I smiled, as he scratched the back of my neck, looking around discretely, making sure not to make eye contact with any of the others, figuring I liked my teeth in my mouth, not on the floor.

He nodded, as he grabbed the coke, handing it down to me, which was a reach, as I grabbed the glass, taking a sip to help my seemingly dry throat. Both of them leaned on the bar, as they chatted with each other, as corduth moved close to him, hugging his mate as he kissed his cheek. I blushed and looked away to give them their privacy, which was one of the biggest mistake of my life, as when I looked back, they were gone. Shit.

I frantically looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of them, as I moved around trying to spot them, not wanting to go too far just incase they came back for me. I didn't feel the claws dig into my chest till much too late.

I was hauled up, as I grunted, finding myself face to face with a very drunk Askook, who was currently crushing my chest.

"Worthless bag of flesh." He growled into my face, as I could smell the booze he had ingested hit me hard in the face. I kicked to try and escape the clutches, as others nearby stopped, and were watching.

"Let me go." I grunted, as I felt his claws tear through my uniform, and into my skin as I watched my blood trickle down his claws.

"Or what little human, you will get that weak spined captain after me?" He laughed, as he clenched harder, as I groaned again, now seeing spots.

Seeing as I had only one opportunity, I swung my lower half back quickly, before swinging hard foward to knee him under the jaw, jarring his jaw and my knee, as he roared angrily, throwing me as I landed on a pooltable top, groaning as my chest continued to bleed.

I looked up to see the faces of other soldiers, as the light above it blinded me as I covered my eyes with an arm, as well as it being a feeble attempt to block incoming blows, as I looked over to see Askook coming over to finish me off, but I was surprised as was he of what happened next.

"Leave him be drake." Boomed through the hall, as everyone stopped speaking, and seemed to stop breathing as well, save that of my now wheezing breaths, as I tried to turn my head, groaning as I reached up to feel my head, finding it had been spilt on the table, and was bleeding badly.

Askook quickly bowed, going down one one knee as chairs and tables were moved aside, and I felt through the table the floor tremble with each step. I rolled onto my side, as my eyes fluttered, before I caught sight of who was talking.

"You have to be kidding me." I sighed, as h I looked at the drake who days before had be trapped in a bus.

"It is good to see you too little one." He chuckled, before turning to the drake next to me, whom had been only moments ago playing pool. "Help him, he is going to bleed out."

The drake quickly nodded, as four of them scrambled to get me ice and a cloth for my head, as the world began to spin black for me, as I fought to stay up. "I-I can walk, I am fine." I said, as I pushed them away, trying to act tough, as I leaned over the edge of the table, swinging my legs to stand up, as I took my first step.

One step.

Two step.

Three step.

Floor.
