This poem (lyrics really) were written to go along with Audiomachine's "Heart of Courage" on their album Invincible.

If you want to understand, listen to the song a few times to get a feel for the music, then read. The words begin when the drums pick up.

Through those gates she strode, full of fire and wonder. Through those gates of iron and stone, and all the world asunder. Alone she stood. Alone she cast. Alone she broke the silence. The cannonade, the deadly rain, began.

They'd thought her dead, of broken soul, and yet she stood amongst them. The cannon bounced far and wide, but none close. Her heart was pure, her magic strong, and all the world would know it. She channeled loss; she channeled heartbeats... Her love would not permit this. It called out; whispers flew forth, and one by one they silenced.

That day we now remember well, in peace and war and legend. That bloody tunic, that shattered soul, and her message beyond comprehension.
