Vox chronicles - Prologue

So iv had an idea for a action series fanfiction swimming around my head for awhile. I wanted to write a story that takes a different take on the sonic lore. Set in a alternate dimension before the super genesis waves and casting a young a thin Ivo robotnik as captain of a order of robotic knights fighting along side the titular Vox, A young Rouge the bat, Sonic, Sally and a female human knight against Ivo's farther Ivan and his adopted son Julian Kintobor (the original Eggman in the comics).
Iv read enough bad fanfiction to know not to make any fan characters marry sues so just to reassure you Vox is far from some super badass who can run faster than sonic or punch harder than knuckles.
I love writing my other stuff but I really want to test myself in attempting to write a more serious story with arcs and character development so let me know what you think of the structure & wording of this prologue and if its shitty let me know and ill re write a better opening.
Earth Humanity's home for thousands upon thousands of years, on this small blue planet we overcame nature. Every patch of soil we claimed as ours and on it we built buildings that touched the heavens, Machines of unbelievable power and empires time and time again thought to be eternal.
But nothing is eternal.
On one fateful day long ago the Xorda came to our world seeking conquest. It is at this point reality split. The scale of our war so great it left echoes on the fabric of the universe splitting forever outwards creating a near infinite number of alternate realities. The multiverse was born.
The outcome of the war would change in each alternate reality but one thing remained a constant. It would always begin with the Gene bomb. Both sides would be forced to near defeat and in their desperation the Xorda would resort to their ultimate weapon. A bomb made to devolve all life on the planet rending the population helpless.
In a single moment the human race saw nearly all of its progress, all of our grand cities and armies crumble to dust. Those who could took refuge underground and those who could not were twisted into something new the Overlanders. But from this destruction came new life. The animals of our world evolved at a staggering rate the gene bombs effects reversed; in a matter of years civilisation began to form various species came together as they salvaged the relics of the human race.
The remaining Xorda exhausted and pushed further back by these new races fled our world and as humanity slept underground the animal races combined taking the earth as their own and proudly naming it Mobius and themselves Mobians.
It is at this point that a myriad of possible realities occur. In one possible outcome humanity dies underground like rats and the Mobians live unchallenged. In another the Overlanders take humanity's place swarming over the planet quashing the Mobians before they have a chance to fully evolve.
Our story however follows the time-line known as the zero point. A time-line stuck between all possible existences as a cosmic mistake. The events of this world would shape the events of every other if even in some small way.
It begins 1000 years after the gene bomb. Humanity has long since emerged from its vaults forming the U.H.R (The unified human republic) and quickly finds themselves drawn into a long bloody war with the Mobian acorn empire and the hideously mutated Overlanders who roam the earth as near mindless monsters.
Brokering peace finally after a 200 year war the Mobians and humans found peace with each other, but on the eve of the treaty, ambitious scientist Ivan Robotnik unleashed war upon the world again dragging a young fox Mobian engineer into the centre of the battle to shape Möbius history forever across time and space.
