Chapter 3: Take Me To Your Leader
................... "WAKE UP!! Penny!! It's morning!" My eyes shot open as I heard the exited Antwon yelling and shaking me.
"Okay, I'm up, I'm up! Sheesh!" exclaimed a much less enthusiastic Skitty. Today was the day Antwon said he was going to help me figure out why I can't remember anything except my name.
"HURRY UP! Lazybones!"
"Ugh, I'm hurrying! ... Where is this ‘guild' place you were talking about anyway?"
"It's just up here, past Duskull's bank!" He said as we made to the front of the stairs.
"No EFFING WAY!! ... There's gotta be a MILLION stairs here!!"
"Actually there are 1,556,943 stairs ..."
"That really doesn't help at all." I stated with a sprinkle of malice, "Do we really have to WALK up all these stairs?!"
"Unless you sprout a set of wings in the next ten seconds, come on, it's not that bad."
"OH! Not that bad, it's like Mt. Everest!"
"Mount What? Anyway, we better get a move on."
"Yah, if we wanna make in there by nightfall." I added sarcastically.
-Much complaining about the stairs ensued until ...-
"Finally! We're here!" Antwon and I both exclaimed at the tops of our lungs.
"Well, where is this Grandmaster SpringyFluff guy anyway?" I asked
"That's, GUILDmaster WIGGLYTUFF, and he should be inside the guild somewhere." He said as we walked right in the front door.
"INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!" an annoyingly high-pitched voice was repeating.
"Intruders!? WHERE?!" I asked
"I think he's talking about us."
"Oh, ok good. I thought we were in danger." I said just as a group of pokemon came pouring out of the guild entrance.
"Hey hey hey! What's the big Idea?"
"Oof! What's all the hubbub?"
"Oh my gosh! I love meeting new people!"
"I dunno, they look pretty shifty to me!"
"ENOUGH!!" An obviously agitated Chatot exclaimed, "Would everyone settle down!? You two, please meet me in the Guildmaster's office." Chatot ordered, Antwon and I were very excited to meet the Guildmaster... well ... at the time we were glad ... that changed a little.
. . . . . . "YOOM TAH! Nice to meet you, friends!"
"Uhhmm ... Nice to meet you too JigglyBuff ... err ... WigglyTuff!" I stuttered
"That's enough of pleasantries, now please tell me, what is your business here, we have zero tolerance for solicitors." Chatot explained.
"No, no sir, we're here to form an exploration team!" Antwon stated with a smile.
"Is that so?" Chatot said relieved, "Well then, to form an Exploration Team you must complete TWO very important tasks. First, you must have at least two pokemon, including yourselves, on your team, and second, you must think of a team name."
"... That's it?" Antwon asked, "There is no test or anything?"
"Oh don't be ridiculous, if your team name isn't approved with the Guildmaster, than you will not become an exploration team, so it better be good." Chatot said with malice.
"So friends, what will your team name be?" WigglyTuff asked.
"Umm ... well, we haven't really â€""
"Team Smartz, spelled S-M-A-R-T-Z, whadya think Antwon?" I asked.
"I think ... well, I think it's perfect, how did you think of that so fast?"
"Remember those 1,556,943 stairs we had to climb to get here? I had a lot of time to think."
"Very well, Team Smartz, spelled S-M-A-R-T-Z, will be registered as your team name," WigglyTuff said with a smile, "... Registering ... Registering ... YOOM! TAH!!!" WigglyTuff exclaimed so loudly that Antwon and I were thrown back on our tails, "Team Smartz is now a registered Rookie Level Exploration Team, Here is a box of supplies to help on your journey." The Guildmaster said while placing a big red box in front of us.
"Wow this stuff's so awesome!!" I exclaimed as I pulled out a pretty pink bow and tied it around my neck.
"Look, team badges!!" Antwon shouted as he pulled out two white pokèballs with wings that had the words "Team Smartz" carved on the back along with our names, "Here's yours," He said as he tossed me one, "and here's mine." Inside the box we also found something that resembled a messenger bag, a light-blue bow that my partner tied around his neck, and a Wonder Map.
"Well, now that that's settled, let me show you two to your room." Chatot said as he walked down a hallway, past two other rooms, into the room at the end of the hall. " Well, here it is, this is where you'll be living until you graduate from the guild." Antwon and I looked around the room, inside was a window, a desk for writing, and one big bed next to the window.
"It's no Ritz, but this place is classy!" I observed.
"Umm, are you quite sure she is okay?" Chatot whispered to Antwon.
"Oh yes, she used to be a human, so that's probably why she keeps saying things like that." Antwon explained.
"Excuse me?!" I asked incredulously, "I believe you meant to say ‘HE used to be a human' thank-you-very-much."
"Oh, I'm sorry Penny, I thought you were a girl," Antwon confessed, "It won't happen again."
"Hey, it's okay, I've been mistaken for worse," I admitted, "So, anyway, It looks like it's getting late, maybe we should hit the hay." I said as I jumped into the bed.
"Sounds good to me." Antwon said as he fell over right next to me, " I can't wait ‘till tomorrow, Good night Penny."
"Good night Antwon." We said as we both drifted into a deep sleep.
