Chapter 25.

I awake in the loving arms of my mate, Tony, I snuggle deeper into his strong, furry body. I nuzzle into his neck fur and breathe in his intoxicating scent. My thoughts begin to stray, back to the recent rescue of Hammy, it is then that I realise that with everything that has happened of late, that we all need a vacation, I also realise that maybe, just maybe it is time for me to get some Bodyguard training in, as I had now decided that the assassin part of my job, would be solely kept for very special circumstances.

I've heard of a place in the USA, an Army base no less, that has what is considered to be one of the best Bodyguard training facilities around, all I have to do is get in contact with the base, to see if maybe I can get myself a spot on the training course, sure I am already widely regarded as one of the best Bodyguards that money can buy, but I want more, I want to be able to protect Senior Doberman, Loboron, Tony and the rest of my extended family, to the best of my ability.

I head to my computer and activate the search engine, and type in the army base name of Fort Peterson, a results page appears and there, at the bottom of the page is the website that I seek. I click on the link, which opens the website, I'm taken straight to the home page upon which is listed details of everything the base has to offer.

I look down the list and spot the very item I'm looking for, Advanced External Combat Training. I click on the Contact Us link, and find a list of email addresses, including one for a General Stanford, a thought rushes through my mind, 'mmm a General no less, he seems like the kind of fur I need to be dealing with', I click on his address which opens my compose email page.

I send the email, asking for details on exactly what the Advanced External Combat Training entails. After sending the email, I decide to head for the home gym, again, Tony knows only too well where I'm headed.

"You are determined to kill yourself aren't you Wolfie, I know where you were heading, and I also know that you weren't going to ask for a training buddy, well Wolfern Stone-Steel, you may not want a training buddy, but like it or not, you got one".

A sigh escapes my muzzle, "Fine Tony, you wanna spot me, I guess I could use the company, but I warn ya now, I fully intend to push myself hard, my recent fight highlighted some weak points, and a bodyguard with weak points, well let's just say that if Senior Doberman ever found out about them, he would be less than impressed".

Suddenly from behind I hear an Argentinian voice, my instincts kick in moments before my brain does, and I swing round to face the voice, ready to attack should I need to.

"Wolfie, relax it's me, Senior Doberman, I am not foe I am friend, I come in peace, so put your lethal weapons down!!. I'm sorry that I chose this exact moment to make my entrance, but I did also hear what you said about some weaknesses, and true enough, if I had seen weakness, the very least I would have done would be to send you for retraining, at worst I would have fired you, but those thoughts are null and void now, I have just startled you and almost paid the price for it, in short, I see no sign of weakness, maybe you and the family need time away, a vacation".

I drop my attacking stance and speak.

"Senior Doberman, please, don't do that, I'm on edge enough already as it is. As for the vacation idea, I have already taken steps to do just that of sorts, I'm hoping that it will be like a busman's holiday, a time where I can retrain and be with Tony and Loboron, I'm just awaiting for an answer to the email that I have sent to Fort Peterson, in the US".

Senior Doberman's eyelids shoot up at the mention of the army base.

"Fort Peterson, ah Wolfie, let me tell you, if you can get on a retraining course there, you will be in very good paws, I know of the General, an extremely large wolf, by the name of General John Stanford, I offer you this friendly warning, if you get onto this course, you WILL show respect to the General, if he says jump, you will ask how high and how many times. I also know that the General has a son whose name is Micah, maybe Loboron could get to meet him, knowing the General as I do, I am willing to suggest that Micah will be a good role model for your adopted son. Now from my knowledge, the Stanfords are very patriotic, and I do have an office in the US, so PLEASE don't get upsetting the status quo".

With Senior Doberman's words still ringing in my ears, I head to my weights.

I spend two and a half hours on my training and by the end I am extremely tired, so I decide to take a nice long sauna, before then heading out to the pool. Once in the pool, I find that my time is now not my own, with it being such a beautiful day, Tony, Loboron, Wolverine, Senior Doberman, Matt, Hammy, Mike Nash, even Todd Styles, decide to join me in the pool, yes, part of me was in need of some alone time, but how could I not love this feeling, the feeling of having such a large family. Sure I know that technically Senior Doberman is my boss, but I also think of him as family, he did look after Loboron whilst Tony and I were at our last fight after all. Loboron begins to splash about in the pool, a smile graces my muzzle as I realise that this is the first time in a long time since Loboron had anything close to fun.

I say a silent prayer for the friends that I've left behind, Throttle, Vinnie and Modo, I also say a silent prayer for my one time friend and ex-boss the late, great Vinnie Van Daz, they will never be far from my thoughts or my heart.

After my time in the pool, I dry off and head back to my computer, hoping against hope that I have received an email from General Stanford. I open my email page, and find to my joy the very email that I was waiting for, with all the details checked and double checked, I decide to accept the place on the training course at Fort Peterson, knowing that I would at least be trained by one of the finest military furs and his team. The course itself will take one month and will mean that myself, Loboron and Tony will be away for that period, plus the travelling time. I send my confirmation email, and knowing that I would be leaving the following afternoon, I had to set things in motion, there was Senior Doberman's temporary Personal Bodyguard and Driver to sort out, so I head to the main house to speak with the great dog.

I enter the house and find Senior Doberman, having just returned from the pool, sat at the kitchen table, still drying his head fur with a towel.

"Senior Doberman, I have had a reply to my email and I have decided to take this opportunity to get some more training done, whilst at the same time, allowing Tony, Loboron and I some time alone to bond fully as a family, now we will be away for just over a month, however, I will not let your safety be compromised, Wolverine will take over as your temporary Bodyguard, and Mike Nash, will take over as your temporary Driver. Sir, I realise that this puts you in a little bit of a tight spot, and I apologise for that, but hopefully, when I return, I will a better bodyguard".

Senior Doberman replies.

"Wolfie, you are already bodyguard enough for me, we both know that this is more about your family bonding than your retraining, but, I do see your need, so please go with my blessing, and Wolfie, I don't give you many orders, but I'm giving you one now, and that order is enjoy yourselves and when you come back, I hope to see the wolf that you used to be, only better".

I thank Senior Doberman and head out to find Wolverine and Nash, to give them their new, temporary assignments.

"Wolverine and Nash, just the very furs I was looking for, I have something I need to tell you both, tomorrow afternoon, myself, Loboron and Tony will be heading out to America for just over a month, I have accepted a place on a retraining program that is being run at Fort Peterson, now for that period of time, you will both have new temporary assignments, Wolverine, you will become Senior Doberman's head bodyguard, and chief of security, and you, my old friend Nash will become Senior Doberman's driver. Now guys, it goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, Senior Doberman and I share an incredible working and family relationship, when I return, I would like that relationship to be intact, after saying that guys, have fun and I will see you both upon my return".

I head back to my place to get Tony and Loboron ready for the trip, this will be the first of what I hope will be many trips that the three of us take together, as a family.
