The Yoshi Mask
#27 of Paco and Sid
A story about Paco and Sid and the Yoshi mask.
Basements aren't always the first place you'd go into if you were bored. Most other time, most people would rather be playing video games, drawing, writing or doing anything else than cleaning on out. But when you have nothing else, desperate times call for desperate measures. And cleaning out a basement was exactly what Sid and his dinosaur friend Paco were doing. The little human couldn't even remember the last time he had even been down here, never mind clean it. Still, it had to be done at some point and what better point was there than to clean it during a rainy day with nothing else to do?
"Hey Sid!" Paco yelled from the other end of the dark, dusty room. "Yeah?" the human replied. "Have a look at what the heck I found!" The smaller male came over to his Dino friend and saw a treasure trove of NES games. There had to be at least fifty of them in the chest. Paco dusted them off and blew into a few of them. "I didn't know that you had a NES!" Paco said as he scanned through the cartridges. There was quite a few hidden gems in there: Super Mario bros, Zelda, Tennis... "These games look pretty good!" Sid just shook his head. "I got rid of my NES ages ago Paco. I don't know why this is still here. "Aw.." The chubby T-rex moaned as he put the games back and closed the chest. "I thought we'd actually found something interesting...."
The two continued to look around for a bit before it was sids turn to find something cool. After searching through an old dusty closet he found a massive green yoshi mask. "Hmm? When did this get here?" He thought to himself as he tried to put the mask on. Sadly, it was too big. Two large purple hands reached over and grabbed it out of the boys hands. "Too big for you?" Paco asked as he examined the mask. "Yeah.." Sid sighed. "Well, lemmie try." The dino said as he put the mask on. It was a perfect fit. "Hey, this is pretty coo-ah!" Paco screamed as a green goo erupted from the mask and covered his face. "Wh..What is this stuff?!" Paco yelled as the goo moved down his body, turning his once=purple body a bright green.
Pacos big maw suddenly compressed in on itself, getting smaller and smaller by the second. In it's place grew a giant green nose and a smaller white mouth. His head grew a few orange spikes on the back as his tail became much shorter and stubbier. His belly became white colour as his feet shrunk and two brown coloured shoes appeared out of nowhere. His eyes changed too, growing in height and turning a sky blue in colour. On his back came a small red saddle as the transformation completed itself. "What the heck just happened?" Paco asked his friend, his voice having gotten a little higher in pitch. "Am I a Yoshi now?!" "I...I think so.." The little human replied. "And you look adorable!"
The dinosaur was then met with a big hug as his friend embraced him. "Hehehe... Thanks Sid." Paco said as he hugged back, his skin feeling a little softer and squishier than usual. "So...Uh...Am I stuck like this forever?" The Dino-turned-Yoshi asked his friend as he looked himself over and stuck out his tongue to examine it. It sure was a lot longer than it was before it transformed. "I dunno." Sid said happily. "I like you like this though." "Yeah, me too." Paco said with a big Yoshi smile.
