Ash recently became the Champion of Kalos and he had decided to take a vacation in Alto Mare with his friends.

So what happens when he brings Serena to Alto Mare? Latias is murdered and he commits suicide. The suicide wasn't successful.

Ash is found washed ashore on a Johtonian beach. When he wakes up, he remembers nothing of his past. And he may also have no future. His memory is empty. He only remembers what happened 30 minutes before he committed suicide. (Contains Altoshipping, Amourshipping, Dewshipping, Aura Ash and more.)

This is a very old draft of a story I've originally written in. I won't continue this, but a story under the name "Vengeance" is the same story with a same plot, characters, ending, but a different exposition. It can be found in my profile, or my fanfiction profile "D.F. Vengeance III"

This story is dedicated to the memories of _Mekon, latiasfan1 and coolbluelatios. Former Fanfiction authors of legendary Altoshipping stories. These authors have either passed away or are extremely busy in post-secondary educations._

Disclaimer: Will Ash ever fall love in the Anime? The correct answer is: No (Because it would end the series)! My ownership to Pokémon has the same answer: No.

I also do not own the artwork.

A/N: Hi, readers! This is an Altoshipping and Amourshipping story. This story will be dark. If you do not like the concept, then I'd like to kindly ask you to not read this. This is the prologue and parts of prequel are covered.

A Fine Line Between Love and Friendship

Prologue

Present time, somewhere in Alto Mare

Ash fell to his knees, staring at the red and white corpse in front of him. 'No... No, this can't be...' he thought. He saw Serena, a smug look plastered on her face, as she brushed the blue shards from her sole.

"Oh, hi, Ash," She said, not a hint of regret in her voice.

"S-Serena... What have... What have you done!?" His hands ran across Latias' rapidly cooling body, desperately trying to find a pulse.

There was none.

Serena giggled, insanity breaking through her calm facade "Oh, you silly boy, isn't it obvious? I killed Latias! She was getting between us!" Joy was replaced with panic when Ash practically flew from where he was, trapping her neck in a vice grip that cut off her ability to breathe.

"You..." Pure rage laced his words. His eyes, eyes that once glittered with childish happiness and glee, were now dark as a maelstrom. "...You... Bitch..." He tightened his grip, threatening to break her neck. "... I loved her... I loved her more than my own life... And you... YOU SIMPLY KILLED HER!" Saying the words himself brought a wave of realization. She was dead. Latias was DEAD. His grip lessened as his mind was taken over by grief.

Serena, feeling as though she was now safe, caressed his face. The trainer of Pallet flinched at her touch. "Now, now, Ashie... *Cough* ... She's not going to come back. Ever. But now you have me. I'll love you more than she did... And you'll love me even more..." Ash fell to his knees as she spoke. She noticed he had grabbed a fairly large, and wicked sharp, shard of the Soul Dew. "... A-Ash?" The trainer chuckled darkly.

"... You're right..." He said. "... Latias is gone... And she's never coming back..." He looked up, meeting her gaze. She did not see the eyes of the trainer she had fallen in love with. Instead, she saw the look of a man whose mind had broken. "...Never... Ever coming back..." He pointed the shard at her. "If I killed you, it wouldn't bring her back but..." Ash stared at the shard in his hand. "... She doesn't have to come back... I... I'll just go to her!" Saying that, he ran. He stood up from where he was and ran towards the entrance of the Garden.

She was dead for good, she was killed twice -- the first being a barrage of Shadow Balls and Dark Pulses, and the second one being crushed by the heels of a 15-year-old girl. Ash had no intention of staying alive anymore, after discovering her own death.

He released Charizard and was burned right in the face. He wasn't impressed, but didn't care about it either. Getting tortured to death by Secret Service agents, or even watching yourself remove your own visceral organs were both extremely painful ways to die, but it didn't seem to matter anymore. He had no intentions of living anymore. Any of those options would sound like a good way to die. Just like how anything would taste good when somebody has been starving for weeks.

But those two ways were too slow, and he wanted to end his life immediately. Slitting his own wrist or throat wouldn't be fast, but it wouldn't guarantee death either. And the worst case would be ending up in a mental hospital if he's saved.

His Flame Pokémon grabbed him and lifted him and Pikachu to the roof of the nearest tall building. Unbeknownst to Charizard, his Trainer was about to abandon him. He was thrown and his nose face laid flat on the rooftop. It was painful and Charizard laughed, but he didn't seem to care a single bit.

He stood up with an exaggerated nosebleed, not even bothering to wipe them. He looked down at the large shard of the Soul Dew in his hands, thinking about the dead body. "I've grown old enough to realize... That I regret my actions for the free plane tickets. I shouldn't have cared. It was supposed to be my own vacation, but no... The friendly side of me wanted to bring friends along."

Scene 1 -- Spare Tickets

9 days ago, somewhere in Lumiose City, Kalos.

Time: Day

We see three teenagers and one pre-teen having a conversation inside the Pokémon Center. They are Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie.

Ash Ketchum, who recently defeated Diantha, stood up and started asking questions. "Bonnie, Clemont and Serena. You three are the best people I have ever met in my journey. I couldn't have defeated Diantha without you guys."

He looked at Bonnie. "Bonnie, I would like to thank you for being such a wonderful friend. You're the clown, you're always there to entertain me and make me laugh with your marriage gag."

The boy then looked at Clemont and spoke, "Clemont, I would like to thank you for offering me valuable advice on Electric-type Pokémon. I couldn't have defeated Diantha without your advice on Pikachu."

He then turned and looked right into Serena's eyes, in which allowed her to feel nervous with millions of thoughts racing through her head. 'Arceus! He's making eye contact with me! Is finally going to confess his feeling towards me?'

"Out of the three. You're the best one, that's why I mentioned you last," Ash explained.

'Yes! here it comes!'

"Serena, you're a very caring friend. You were always there to put a smile on my face, even when I had almost given up on the league. You have encouraged me to push beyond the limits, and thanks to you, I've defeated Diantha. Thank you."

'What is he doing?'

"I want to thank all three of you for supporting me all the way until the end. Now, I have some questions that I want answers to from all three of you."

'Will he ask me about my feelings?' Wondered Serena, blushing.

"Can I have a hands up from any of you who travelled outside of Kalos?"

Serena raised her hands. At the same time, her blush vanished.

"Serena? What regions have you travelled to?"

"Ash, do you remember how we first met?" she inquired, feeling rather disappointed.

"Yes, I do. It was like 9 years ago in Professor Oak's Summer Camp."

"Yes!" she said, smiling.

"In a few days, I'm leaving to Alto Mare," he announced.

Serena cried silently. 'Arceus! why must you do this to me? I haven't confessed to him yet, please, give me another chance!' she thought.

"Uh Serena? what's wrong?" Ash asked caringly.

"Ash... I just want to say..." she said. 'I don't have the nerves to confess! Better change up the idea!' "I... I'm going... To miss... You," she stuttered, wiping away her tears.

"She likes you!" teased Pikachu.

Ash didn't understand Pikachu.

"Come on! she loves you!" Pikachu teased again.

"Serena... Look at my hands and tell me what you see," he said, grinning happily over his achievement.

She looked up, again, wiping her tears.

"I have tickets, for all three of you."

FLASHBACK ENDS

--

"Ash? What are you talking about? Look on the bright side. What about Melody and Dawn? Don't you realize they still love you?"

"SHUT UP!"

He called out his Pokémon, who greeted him cheerily. They had no idea of what was happening outside, except one who was arguing with the boy.

"I just can't believe it. It's been less than a month, and she has already been killed! By that girl!" Ash screamed with all his strength. Damaging his vocal chords didn't matter anymore, with the thoughts of suicide present in his head. "Maybe it's Wikstrom's fault, I should have ignored him!"

"Latias, I'm coming for you!"

FLASHBACK

--

7 days ago, somewhere in Alto Mare.

Time: Midnight

It was midnight, and there was a thunderstorm. Latias was panicking, hugging tightly onto Ash. "... Ash, I'm scared... Please don't leave me..." she begged. Suddenly, a bright flash of light flashed, and it was followed up with a loud rumbling noise that occurred seconds later. (1)

"Coo!" she screamed.

Ash patted her back softly, "Latias, please don't worry. We're beside each other," he comforted her, feeling her soft hair brushing on his shoulder.

Ash shivered, feeling nervous all of a sudden, "La..tias," he hesitated.

"...Ash? what is it?" she asked, removing herself from the hug.

Ash looked into her auburn eyes with a blush, trying to build up his nerves. "Do you remember, re-remember, the kiss you gave me years ago?"

Latias went into hysteria, she grabbed his shoulder for support and leaned forward to kiss. "Do you mean this?"

His body temperature returned to normal. "Yes! Your hug reminded me of the kiss. Latias..."

"Do you love me, Ash?" she asked.

"Yes... I, love, you," he replied.

"Will you marry me?" she suddenly asks.

Well, that escalated quickly.

"What? I.... Uh.. Yes?"

FLASHBACK ENDS

--

He walked towards the ledge, looked down, and prepared to jump.

"Pikachu, Charizard, Goodra, Hawlucha, Talonflame and Greninja, I'm sorry," Ash cried, giving a final glance. "I cannot, cannot live without her anymore. I must go, and join her. My friends... remember me..."

He closed his eyes and jumped.

He waited, but nothing came. He felt something holding tight onto his arms. He opened his eyes. It was Serena. "Hey? Let me go! I don't want to live anymore!" he shouted.

"No, I will not let you go. You deserve to live, in my eyes."

"Let me go!" Commanded the Trainer, again.

"No!" she cried.

"Then I'm going to force you to!" Ash shouted, reaching out to stab her wrists with a chunk of soul dew. It was very sudden and it gave her no time to respond.

Serena's hands became paralyzed; unable to continue holding her fingers closed due to severed bones and nerves. "No!" She released her vice-like grip. "Fuck!"

Ash began to freefall. The wind rushed past his ear. His falling body somehow became outlined in cyan. It wasn't psychic, but rather his own Aura.

He crashed, and not a single bit of blood was spilt on the cold floor, but he was knocked unconscious.
