Jake's Escape

Rake looked over the large stone building, surprised to have gotten an acceptance letter back so soon from the new Esseno laboratory that had sprung up rather close to his burrow. As he passed through the front doors an into the reception room, a wolf in a white lab coat approached. "I take it you are Rake?"

The winged red fox nodded, before extending a paw. "Nice to meet you Mr.?"

The wolf shook the offered paw ."Name's John. Now I'm sure you have plenty of questions about the lab , but for now we could use your help on a simpler matter." The wolf leads the fox through a few sealed doors , swiping his ID through each key card slot. After passing a few white - walled testing chambers they happened into a room with many monitors.

"Oh? I thought I'd be helping in the testing chambers?" Rake asked, peeking over a few of the monitors each of them showing a different test chamber.

"You will. In due time that is, but for now we need someone to keep an eye out for any sudden changes that may need to be addressed."

The fox rubbed the back of his head, before nodding slightly, taking a seat at the empty desk. "Are there any particularly dangerous experiments going on?"

The wolf nodded slowly an pointed to the top rightmost monitor. At a quick glance the fox saw only a blue tiger sitting on the edge of a bed, but as he stared it became much clearer that the individual was see-through, the dark blue tiger looking almost like a mold of blueberry Jello. Just as he thought that the wolf was playing a practical joke on him, the figure moved, turning its head to look at the camera.

"What is it?"

The wolf smiled at the question. "He is one of our greatest experiments, a mixture of DNA animated here in the lab. His body is impervious to most forms of damage and can reshape himself at will."

Rake nods and tilts his head as he looks over the figure. "He looks kind of lonely."

The wolf scoffs at the idea. "We would offer him some company if he wouldn't tear them apart." The wolf points to a monitor looking over an individual whose body seemed covered in burns like that of acid. "The experiment's body can break down just about everything he touches to make more of himself."

The winged fox nods. "So he's the most dangerous cause he could break free?"

The wolf nods. "Just pay close attention and if he ever seems to be missing from his room, call for help. We'll get some freezing agent that will hold him while his room is repaired."

Rake nodded slowly and sat back as he started to watch the different monitors "I'll leave you to your work." The wolf said a slight smirk across his muzzle as he left headed down towards one of the testing areas. Rake nodded slightly "Yeah."

Rake's eyes scanned back and forth over the rows and stacks of monitors, watching for what felt like hours over the many rooms of folks in white lab coats, his eyes every so often drifting back to that gooey feline. His attention was soon trained on lab room 6 as the scientists seemed to be working on an odd ray gun of sorts, watching in bemusement as the team started to celebrate over the shrinking of a few test objects. "Hehe, you are just a little outdated there."

After a light chuckle he went back to slowly scanning each screen only to jump when he noticed the blue tiger was nowhere to be seen in his room. _ _"Where'd he go?" Rake went to reach for the phone to call for help, before pausing with his paw just above it. "I think, I'll handle this." He stepped away from the desk and made his way down to the gooey tiger's holding cell. A special suit and spray gun were positioned right outside the sealed door. "Shouldn't be too hard..." he said, soon working his way into the suit before checking to make sure the spray gun was in order.

Rake took a deep breath, his heart pounding, as he slowly opened the room. Upon first inspection, it seemed empty from top to bottom. "How did he get out?" The tiled walls and floor seemed completely clean of any goo.

As he stepped inside his ears perked up at the sound of the door closing an latching behind him. "Oh, no..." he turned about only to confirm his fears that the door had locked him in. He frowns before starting to wave at the camera for help, only to yelp when he felt a strong paw grip his leg. Looking down, he only managed to catch a glimpse of the goo pooling out from the cracks in the floor before it'd quickly rise, covering the suit he was in from head to toe.

Rake starts to flail about, trying to free himself from the elastic goo coating the suit, his heart racing as he felt parts of the suit eaten away, the cool gel starting to work its way inside. The suit quickly dissolved away, followed by the spray gun breaking down in that blue tiger's grip. Rake closed his eyes and mouth, preparing for the worst.

It never came. He opened his eyes slowly to see his body encased in blue goo almost like a suit over all but his head. "Are you... going to absorb me?" The goo stayed silent, but the fox would start to feel the sensation of paws rubbing over his body. "I... Well, thank you but could you please let me go?" The question was met with the feeling of paws searching through his shorts pockets, as if looking for something. "I don't have the keys if that is what you are looking for." A breathy sigh seemed to come from the goo itself, before the rustling would stop. Rake then blinked as the goo pushed his legs forward making him take one step at a time bringing him to the door. "What do you want me to-" He'd blink again, looking down as a small trickle of goo pressed up against the bottom of the door, the soft sound of suction being lost from around the door could be heard, followed by the sudden unlatching of the door as it'd swing open from a gooey arm seeming to have pooled on the outside of the door. "You know, if you'd wanted free why didn't you do that in the first place?"

Without an answer the goo started to bolt, pulling Rake along. "Where are you going?! They'll find you like this." The goo didn't stop, even as alarms sounded through the building. "Hold it!" He tried yelling as the blue goo shoved them through the front doors, only to be met by a large team, all equipped with the same type of spray gun from before. "I told yo-" Rake blushed a deep red when he'd feel the goo start to melt away his shorts, only to then feel the extra goo spread up to control his wings "I wouldn't advise this..." Rake said, trying to hold himself back only to have the goo race forward towards the group. "What are you-" he'd yelp as the goo sprang up launching them into the air an forcibly flapping those wings. "Did we just get free?" It's then the fox would feel cold seizing up his wings, a quick look back revealing the two frozen appendages, leaving the two to plummet quickly into the forested area just outside the complex.

Rake closed his eyes and readied for a hard landing, when he felt the goo spread up and over his head, his entire body being encapsulated. He could feel the force of them landing as they smacked against tree branches, before crashing against a trunk. Yet it was all painless as the goo seemed to absorb most of the impact. The winged fox slowly moved to get up while the goo bubble that had formed around him pulled back, joining back together into the gooey tiger. "You are crazy you know that?"

The tiger seemed to smile at that, and a loud purr could be heard from the tiger's chest. The goo stood up in front of Rake, before stepping forward to give the fox a hug. "Thank... you..." The being's voice though deep sounded of a child learning new words. The goo put a paw to his chest. "Jake." He said with a proud smile.

Rake nodded slowly. "It was nice to break out with you Jake bu-" His ears flicked as he picked up on the sounds of approaching agents. "It'd be best you get going to make it worthwhile." Jake nodded, before leaning in and pressing its lips to the fox's own, sharing in a gentle kiss, before Rake would feel the tiger push its tongue into his mouth, then with a quick pull away leave the piece there, the blueberry flavored goo seemed to squirm of its own accord, before forcing its way down into the fox's stomach, only to go still.

"What was tha-" when he looked for where the tiger had gone Jake was nowhere to be seen.

Rake sighed letting the agents find him, debrief him, get him some spare clothes and then send him on his way home all the while keeping the mass in his belly a secret. "I hope you are happy Jake." He said, looking over the notice for him to keep away from the lab. After returning home to his burrow and getting a proper shower in, he sat on his bedside, thinking over the events of the day. "Mmm, was quite the first and final day at work." As he laid back to sleep he felt the mass in his belly start to squirm.

"What's going on?" After a few short bursts of movement, it settled down, followed by his stomach starting to churn. "I hope he didn't need that." A momentary concern turns into a pleasant surprise when he felt a gooey paw reach from under his bed and grab his foot. "Were you following me?"

Jake wasted no time, pulling himself out from under and then onto the bed next to Rake. "Home?" The tiger asked, his face showing how unsure he was of the word.

"Yes, this is my home. But you can stay a while. Though tomorrow morning we are working on your speech." He said with a smile. Jake nodded and curled up tight to the fox purring happily, before he drifted off to sleep.
