#11 of Isolation

I went into this job thinking it was just another bug hunt, some Scientist dude who got careless with his vials and spawned nothing more than some blood thirsty flesh craving fruit fly or a huge snake. I thought it would be in, kill the monster, get paid and then go be my normal lazy self while I waited for the next job to come up. I assumed it was nothing to twist myself over. I was wrong. Dead. Wrong

22 Years Prior Prouxsas City, Bespin 11:01 AM, June 6th, 2144

"Your highness", The adviser said as he followed my Mom and I down the hall, "I must recommend that you and King Rizzolk attend the ceremony."

"On what grounds?", my Mother asked.

My mother who was around 37, stood at nearly seven and a half feet tall. Her light grey body color and head crest marked that she was the mate of the King and of the second highest authority. She was dressed in long flowing white silk robes with mahogany and crystal beads and she wore a diamond pendant with a gold inlay that carried Dad's seal on it.

"On the grounds that all of Prouxsas city will be expecting you and the King to attend", the adviser said, "we have a solider to receive a Royal Medal of Honor."

"For the fifth and FINAL time, I can not attend, I have things I need to get done", Mom said, "now please, go advise somewhere else."

"Your highness", The adviser said.

"Zip!", Mom said, "no more words!"

The adviser bowed and turned around, walking back down the hall.

"Mom", I asked tugging on her robes, "who was that?"

"A desk jockey as your Father calls them", Mom said picking me up.

She carried me down the hall to a set of mahogany double doors with some really cool engraving on them set in a gold and silver frame. The two Praetorian guards opened the doors as Mom walked through and closed them behind her. Behind the doors was a large hallway that was made of an expensive looking red carpet, more mahogany broads and paintings of Grandma and Grandpa as well as Mom and Dad that took up most of the wall. A fancy looking frame held each painting and there were diamond inlays in each corner. There was one guard on each side of the hallway spaced a bit apart from one another and they all dropped to their knees as Mom passed them. Near the end of the hall way, there was one guard I think that Mom knew because they both smiled as she opened the door for us. Mom walked up another set of stairs. They were elegantly made with mahogany steps and rails with marble supports and trimmed with a platinum inlay. At the top of the stairs were two more guards dressed in heavy battle armor carrying enormous axes that scared me...a little bit. They were fond of playing with them around me because they knew that they scared me.

"Afternoon your Highness", one said kneeling, "your mate is just inside with your son."

"Thank you Captain", Mom said, "you may rise."

"I see you have Skyline with you today", the guard said flashing his ax.

I buried my head in Mom's shoulder as the guards laughed and opened the door. Mom walked inside and the doors closed behind us. Once we were inside the room, I managed to summon my bravery again. Our house was made in a deeply stained Mahogany walls, gold and silver trim and tile floors. There was a carpet in the living room with our large leather couch and a few bean bag chairs that my brother and his friends used when they had video game days and there was a coffee table that sat between the couch and our 68 inch crystal screen TV. In the dining room behind that there was an oak table that had been stained even darker than the walls that had gold inlays on the legs and a huge vase of flowers set on top of it. Our kitchen was decorated with stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops and the light fixtures in the room were stainless steel with crystal decorations. My older brother Aegean and my Dad were sitting at the dining room table.

My Dad, who was 39, was king of Bespin, the only Giant Rock planet in the system. He stood at nearly eight feet tall, dwarfing Mom and rivaling Aegean, who was about the same height. He was still dressed in his white robes from earlier today and his body color was even lighter than Mom's, but not by much. He wore more decorations, beads and medals on his robes than Mom did, but that was because he was King. His head crest was the biggest and most elegant on the whole planet, telling everyone "I'm in charge."

My brother Aegean was 21 or so, I wasn't really sure. He stood just a an inch shorter than Dad at 7'11. Unlike the robes that they wore, he was dressed in heavy armor that had ammo pouches for an Gauss Rifle strapped to it and he had the big metal thing hanging on his back. He had his heavy helmet sitting on the table, letting you see his head crest, which wasn't as elegant as Mom or Dad's, but still impressive.

"How was your day Mom?", Aegean asked.

"Terrible", Mom said as she sat down at the table, "the advisers were bothering me all day about a Medal of Honor recipient. Not that I'm not grateful for what he did for us, but still, they're just being annoying with it."

"You to?", Aegean asked, "they interrupted our live fire exercise for it. I swear if it wouldn't have been a Court Marshal I would have shot them. So would a lot of the guys. I kind of have to go because I know the guy receiving."

Dad put down his book, "You know him?"

"Private Second Class Imauneal Vaohq", Aegean said, "sweetest back hills kid you've ever met, good friend too. Four rounds from a 20mm Long Range Rifle at about 5 miles, lost both legs, an arm and his tail. It's a miracle he wasn't dead before he hit the ground."

"Wow", Dad said, "did you get the sniper?"

"No", Aegean said, "he gave us the slip. We figured he was gonna come back so we pulled out."

"So have I lost that area?", Dad asked.

"Nah", Aegean said, "were gathering some tanks and going back in in a few weeks."

Dad nodded, "good and about the advisers, the next time they interrupt a live fire exercise, give them armor and guns and send them through the course with the other Praetorians."

Aegean laughed, "Can I make that standard policy?"

"You have my blessing son", Dad said smirking.

Aegean laughed, "what about you Dad?"

"Same old", Dad said, "sat on the Congress floor and listened to the same idiots argue over the same old shit. Nothing too exciting. What I'd give for something worth my time."

"My day wasn't much better", Aegean said, "after training I went to hang out with my friends at the track, and like half way into the drag I blew the diff on my Camaro."

"You blew up your car?", I asked.

"Just a piece", Aegean laughed, "not the whole thing, but the piece it needs to, you know...work."

Dad laughed, "haven't you learned by now that cars from Earth, especially cars from America, suck?"

"Hey it's fast though", Aegean said looking at the clock, "we should get going if we want to make the ceremony in time."

Dad nodded, setting his book down and standing up, giving Mom a kiss on her cheek, "we'll be back late, think you can have dinner ready for us?"

Mom nodded and kissed him back, "I will, and remember you owe me."

Dad blushed, "not in front of the kids."

Aegean laughed as he put his helmet on, "go on."

"Blah!", I said, "disgusting!"

Dad laughed and kissed me, "you'll see soon enough."

Dad and Aegean left. Mom turned on the TV and set me down on the couch as she went to make dinner. The channel was the news, which wasn't my favorite, but interesting enough as all of my shows were on re runs now. The news was had an article on now about the wounded solider that was supposed to get a medal.

"As you can see behind me there are thousands of people gathered in front of the Royal Palace for what is to be the first Royal Medal Of Honor given since World War 2, nearly 240 years ago. Private Second Class Imauneal Vaohq lost both legs, an arm and his tail to an enemy sniper in the raid on a Glykseian compound several weeks ago, but his actions directly resulted in the capture of the compound which many believe will be the final nail in the coffin for the Imperial Army. King Rizzolk is expected here just minutes from now to present the medal."

The clip continued with the reported interviewing a few others before Dad showed up. Everyone bowed as he took the stage. A few seconds later he motioned for the crowd to rise and then he took the podium.

"My day was horrible so forgive me if I'm informal", he said.

The crowd laughed.

"Yeah", Dad said, "not joking. Regardless of how I feel, how any of us feel about our day, we should be thankful that not only has the Imperial Army finally be defeated, but that we have people, such as Private Second Class Imauneal Vaohq, who are willing to put themselves in the line of fire so that the rest of us are free to live our lives, I think he deserves a little bit of thanks."

The crowd began to clap as the solider was helped to the stage by two Praetorians. Dad shook his hand and then Aegean handed him a Platinum medal with gold and Diamond inlays and a silk ribbon. The soldier looked like he was ready to cry as Dad clasped the medal around his neck and everyone began to clap again.

"On behalf of everyone on Bespin", Dad said, "and by the power trusted and vested to me by the People of Bespin, I hear by award the Royal Medal Of Honor to Private Second Class Imauneal Vaohq of the 13th Guards Rifle Division, 5th Battalion, Alpha Company."

There was more clapping as Dad faced the solider and shook his hand again. The camera turned back on the reporter.

"And there you have it", she said, "the first Royal Medal Of..."

She was cut off as someone in the crowd pointed up in the sky and shouted, "look up there."

The camera turned on the sky to show several ships beginning to descend. One was what looked like a freighter, but the others were F-Class fighters. From where I was, I could even see them out the windows.

"Mom", I said, "there are ships outside."

Mom walked into the living room as loud bangs began to pierce the air. People started screaming below us and I could hear more gun fire braking out. Mom grabbed me off the floor and ran into the kitchen, ducking behind the counter. She held me tightly as the bullets began ripping through our windows and walls, sending splinters and glass every where. I felt my body size up with my fear, I couldn't have moved if I wanted to. Everything around us began to disappear in splinters of lead, wood and glass. I could hear Mom screaming for Dad and more gun fire braking out in the hallways.

Everything happened too quickly to take in. The counter we were using as cover disappeared, I felt Mom jerking around. That was about the time I started to notice that my robes were wet and Mom's grip on me had loosened, her breathing was shallow as well. Her body was limp, she wasn't moving at all.

My heart began to race.

"Mom!", I cried feeling the tears coming, "Mom please! Mom please wake up!"

She didn't move.

"Mom no!", I cried, "please! Please wake up!"

I could hear more foot steps in the hallway and then the door flew open and a small, metal cylinder flew in. Next thing I knew, I couldn't see anything and there was noting but a ring to replace the gun fire and the screams. I felt four hands force me face down into the glass and splinters. The hands locked me into hand cuffs and they tied a rope around my head so I couldn't bite at them as well as tying my tail to my back. When I finally could see again, I saw two Glykseian soldiers turn Mom over on her back.

"Is that the queen?", one asked.

"Was", the other snickered, "looks like she bleed to death."

"So what do we do with this little thing?" the first one asked.

"Sell him", the second answered grabbing my by my head, "get up you little fucker, your coming with us."

The soldier forced me up and walked me down the stairs and out of the palace towards their freighter. There were dead people all over the place. Some of them looked like they had died in the ship fire, others looked to have been executed. I could smell smoke and hear Dad's screams, I couldn't help but look that way. My father was tied to a metal pole...on fire. He was screaming in pain as Aegean tried to brake the hold that four Glykseian troopers had on him, but didn't have any luck, I could hear him shouting.

"You'll pay with your lives for this! The Praetorians will destroy you! We will have no mercy on your souls!"

"How do they plan to destroy us without their leader?", one of the soldiers asked as he put his gun to Aegean's head and pulled the trigger. Aegean's blood went everywhere, burning the two men behind him down to the bone, killing them in the process.

I felt my heart stop as the two guards tossed me into the ship. I smacked my head on the metal flooring and couldn't get up, I was still sized up. The guards picked me up and tied me to the wall with a few other prisoners, most of them Xenomorph's. The freighter's door closed and the ship began to pick up.

"Is that Prince Iemse?", one of the prisoners asked.

The others looked at me.

"It is", a female said, "animals. Why the hell would they kidnap a 2 year old?"

"Sell him like stock", the first prisoner said, "just like us."

The prisoner beside me managed to un tie the rope around my head, though his hands were shackled.

"Where are they taking us?", I asked.

They muttered to each other for a minute.

"There going to sell us as slaves", the prisoner beside me said, "who knows to who."

"I wanna go home!", I cried.

The guy beside me hugged me tightly, "we all do."

The prisoner held me tightly as I eventually cried myself to sleep

-1 Hour later-

I woke up when the soldiers came and un chained me from the wall. The dragged me from the cargo bay and into a small metal room where a few humans were standing. They looked like drug addicts, just from they way they were dressed and carried themselves.

"You wanted someone more important?", The soldier asked, "have I got a deal for you. This one is the youngest of High King Rizzolk and Queen Cloefenna."

"Un injured, young and royalty", the man said looking me over, "how much."

"35,000,000", the solider said.

"What?", The man asked in shock, "hell no, ten grand at most."

"Come on man!", the solider said, "this is a Prince were talking about 20,000,000."

"Fuck you!", The man said, "I'll pay you 50 grand, but no more."

The solider sighed, "fine, 50 grand."

The two guys shook hands while a third picked me up and the fourth handed the soldier a case of money. The man who made the deal looked me in the face and said in a low, sadistic tone.

"Don't worry little Xeno, we'll be really good to you."
