April 8, 2015: Practice, then trip to Tallahassee

Practice was a bit harder this day. We really focused on the defense and running today. It had me painting a little, but I was still able to keep up. I know it's a long shot, but I would really do anything to get more minutes. Proving myself to the coaches seemed to be the only way....but Wendy was still better. It's not like I hated her. I'm glad we're winning, I'm glad we're going to the playoff, and I think we may even be able to make the finals, but this season has been about me fighting myself really. 4 minutes a game, barely average 1 point. Is this just how It's supposed to be now? I'm just here to occasionally score? No, There has to be more to my game, more to me, than this.

I felt like I got my chance once during practice. One-on-one drills. Me verse Wendy. All I had to do was stop her. The coach wanted it fast. All I had to do was contain her. Coach passed her the ball and she came up court. I was in my stance. I was ready. I felt determined....but she did not hold back. Wendy charged right for me. I was surprised I stopped her the first time, but she just kept pushing through. Eventually she drove to the kettle and I was on the floor. Point for Wendy. She pulled me back on my feet and calmly said

"Keep your feet set."

I just nodded my head. Practice continued as usual, but I'm not seeing more minutes in my future. Well...whatever helps the team win.

After practice, we all headed out and went to go get ready for the flight to Tallahassee. Josh greeted me on my way to my car.

"Nice work at practice today."

I barely said anything for a while, and then finally said.

"Yea...I guess."

Those were the only words I said to him before I left to my car. Maybe I was too harsh.

The whole team met up back at the airport. Everyone had their dinners already, but the plane was still catering. Coach Howard got on the plane and immediately said.

"No drinks! Alright! Just go to sleep! We gotta long day tomorrow!"

"Got it coach!" I responded. It was a little embarrassing that I was the only one who responded back. Like I was a little schoolgirl.

I soon got to my seat and rested my head. It's pretty cool, you know. Being a professional Athlete and all. Get to go on private planes and all that. I bet no one would've thought the little coyote from the broken down streets would be in a private plane going to play Basketball. I had that little "dreams really do come true" moment, but it was soon interrupted when Josh came to sit next to me.

"Hey, Tex." He said. I decided that I at least owe him a hello.

"Hey, Josh." I said. "Que Pasa?"

"I'm feeling alright. Ready to fly sunshiny Florida."

"Yea, can't wait. The Typhoons are a pretty tough team though."

"Well, we're just going to have to be tougher."

I looked at Josh and smiled.

"Well said Josh." I said. Then the pilot spoke.

"Attention passengers, we are getting ready to take off into Tallahassee, Florida. The weather there is a little cloudy with some scattered thunderstorms, so we may hit some turbulence along the way, but we'll get you there in about an hour and half, safe and sound. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight."

"Awww, so much for sunshine." I said.

"I don't think I like Florida now."

All I did was laugh. Josh then put on his head phones and closed his eyes. Which soon reminded me that I forgot my headphones in my car. Just Great. I guess I'll just try to go to sleep then. I looked around the plane bored. Wendy was asleep. Her tail did like this weird snake-like movement around the seat though. Stoat was watching game film, which is probably what I would do if I had my headphones....okay, probably not. I would watch movies. I still never saw that one movie about the super heroes. I completely forgot the title, but I know one fur had a hammer and he would like, throw it, I guess.

Soon the plane started moving. I then looked out the window and saw the orange sky as the sun was setting. It made me feel relaxed for once. I felt ready for game day. I didn't even care that it was 10:00pm or that we were facing the Typhoons. All that mattered to me right now was looking at that awesome sunset. Then, all of a sudden, I heard the boisterous laugh of MacQuilkin.

"Oh my gosh! Twitter is blowing up!" He said.

....It's gonna be a long flight.
