It's been weeks since their last escape from the dragon castle. Fay and Kohan got separated on their escape from the dragon's attack. Apparently, after the head commander found out Kohan was letting one of their captive escape. But just as time passes. Kohan began tracking back his former travelling partner. The task was not easy, he had some information of a blue haired satyr travelling past villages after village. Fay seemed to have an idea of her own where she is headed.
Though along the wary travels, he did picked up a new partner. A Lizard-ling, as her species are called. He found her as a slave for trade during his pass-by in the market. Apparently, a group of bounty hunters raided a nest of Lizard-ling, and decided to take them into captive and sold them as slaves. It happens. Due to their obedient and timid nature, the Lizard-lings made a suitable house slave, or mostly, out of common folk's interest, sex slave as they show no emotion to being physically abused by other more dominant species. Kohan didn't bought her on purpose, however, he found her instead. Her former master was killed by theives during their way home from the slave market. Kohan saw the process. At first, he tried to ignore the event happening before him, as he is not unfamiliar with the scene. However, it became his business when the thieves saw him and began assaulting him, saying it was for "silencing the witnesses".
He killed them in the end of course, all of them. Just when he's about to leave, the little lizard came forth, pulled his cloak.
He turned to look at her. With her height reaching below his shoulder, he gave her a thumb up. "You're good to go, now run along."
The lizard-ling swallowed, then chattered in her own language. It sounded like some bird cackled. It sounded like she's pleading, as she clasped her hands together.
"Run along," he signaled, giving her the "shoo" hand gesture.
The Lizard-ling stayed perfectly still, unknowing what to do.
Kohan stared at her in question, before deciding to move on his own path.
Kohan is actually on a quest on getting a cure for a sick dragnire he met brhind the bars. She was locked up because the townfolks believed she brought a mysterious plague to the town, Londero. How it all began was a mystery, but he didnt bothered with the details. The town offered a lot of copper in finding a cure for the disease. Since he needed some income, and through observation he concluded that the task was doable, he decided to take it up. The plague was not what it seems. Its more of some 'magic draining spell' as he would put it. And something is clearly sapping the town life force. Dragnire has a vision, the vision of Quer, which enables them to see the aura of people. if what he heard is true, having the dragnire tracking the aura of the life force around town would lead him to the cause.
All seems to be in place, if not for the fact that the only person, or thing that could brew such a cure lives on the mountains outside of town. What motivates him, or drives him going, is the payment. Nothing else.
Hours later, at the outskirt of town, he looked back. He sighed when the lizard-ling still follows him. Looks like he's getting a slave, whether he likes it or not.
Whatever, _he sighted, _atleast she'd make a good company at night. He remembered how the slave trader said of the lizard-ling being an obedient and satisfying slave.
He gestured the Lizard-ling, and decided to test It.
"If you are going to come along, then you'll have to pull your own weight," with that, he passed her his bagpack. There's nothing important in the bag, except for all the small pots, and trophy junk he collected during his adventure. So, there's nothing to lose if the small lizard decides to run away.
The lizard-ling took the bag quietly and held it in front of her, as if she's carrying them.
Okay, she passed the first test. No questions asked. No complaints even.
Then, he started walking, while the Lizard-ling followed.
"Sun's setting, so, we need to set up a camp fast." said Kohan as he proceeds further into the woods, "I am looking for a house ontop of a hill. Its far, we will have to continue tomorrow."
Soon, they reached a clearing in the woods. They are very far from the village now. Kohan began readying to set up camp. He started unpacking, and setting up his tent. The lizard-ling seemed to understand what he's trying, thus ran off into the woods, and came back soon after with dry branches in her arms. She piled them up in a rock circle.
"Hmmmm, you've read my mind," said Kohan, feeling impressed, "seems like you might come in handy afterall."
The camp was set up quick, fire was lit, and the night falls soon after.
Kohan was sitting facing the fire, while the Lizard-ling at the opposite, curled up behind her tail. She watches quietly as he cooked the steak he brought from the town.
He handed her a small piece, enough to fill her tummy.
"Can you understand english?" Asked Kohan.
The lizard-ling nodded her head, gesturing "a little".
"A little is good enough," said Kohan, "and i take it you are my slave now? If it is, then do whatever things i asked you to do, no complaints. Or you are out. I prefer to be travelling alone anyway. So don't be a burden."
The lizard-ling only nodded in silence.
The night crept on as the fire flickers before them. Kohan left the fire tending business to the new slave. Kohan was busy sharpening his sword as the lizard-ling sits before him. Along the time, he spent the hours watching her every movements. Her slim and reflective skin shines under the dim light of the camp fire.
