A chance encounter

After a minor injury, a hedgehog goes to the hospital where he meets a new friend. However, there's more to him than meets the eye and the hedgehog will need to choose how involved he wants to be.

-"Are you sure you'll be all right Chris?" A frog asked as he opened the door for his companion.

-"Sure, no problem Lance," a hedgehog answered, "it's nothing, really."

-"Fine, I'll go wait over-"

-"You don't have to. Thank you for driving me here, but I can go on myself."

-"Ok. If you need anything, call me."

-"Thanks Lance." And with that, the frog left the hospital, leaving the hedgehog alone.

Chris didn't like being in the emergency ward for such a minor thing, but there was no other option so late at night. Luckily, while he would need to wait for a doctor to arrive, he would be able to wait in peace, or so he thought.

After taking a seat, he saw that he wasn't alone. From the looks of it, his partner in disgrace was a meerkat of about the same as him. The meerkat was a little thin and short while still looking good, and Chris wondered if maybe the meerkat was of the ideal size for his species. By contrast, the hedgehog knew for a fact that he was pudgy even by the own standards of his own big-boned kind. He looked at the meerkat's body: the black tip of his tail, his small but strong paws, and his face. However, the hedgehog realized that he might had been too obvious when he saw the smiling face of the meerkat looking at him.

-"Hi! John."

-"Chris."

-"So, what are you here for?"

While the hedgehog would've preferred to just wait in silence, he decided to go with the flow since there was nothing else to do anyway. The same thought probably also went through the meerkat's mind as why else would he be talking with him in the first place.

-"Nothing serious, "-- the hedgehog lifted his foot a little-- ", I only twisted my ankle, but you know how moms are."

-"You shouldn't be making her worry, you know. It could be more serious than you think"

-"You sound just like her."

The meerkat laughed, "Oh good, now I'm ready to get married. So, you live with your mother?"

-"No, by myself. Well... with a roommate, but don't change the subject. Why are you here? You look fine to me."

-"Car accident."

-"Really? Are you ok?"

-"I feel fine. Still, it doesn't hurt to get a checkup."

The two continued talking for a while. As time passed, Chris felt closer to John and hoped for their conversation to last forever, but he knew deep inside that it would end sooner or later and that they'd leave as they were before they met each other. The meerkat would go back home to his friends, and the girlfriend he sure had, with a story of the boring fat guy he met at the hospital while the hedgehog would return to an empty room and think of the friend he would never have. They could swap phone numbers, but what would be the point in annoying him any further?

-"Mister Page, the doctor will see you now." The nurse said.

-"Huh, but-"

-"It's ok, you go first. I can wait, see you soon."

Before the hedgehog could say another thing, the nurse hurried him and he grudgingly went to see the doctor.

After the appointment was done, there were no signs of the meerkat ever being there. Chris wondered if maybe John had seen someone else, or maybe he was so bad that they had to hospitalize him, or maybe he had just taken the opportunity to get away from him as soon as he could. Anyway, the meerkat had not fulfilled his word and Chris decided to just return to his apartment.

The lights were out except for the one in the kitchen, which Lance probably turned on for when the hedgehog arrived since the switch was quite far away from the entrance. Chris considered for a moment thanking him, but he had already learnt to not wake up his roommate if it wasn't important, so the hedgehog went to his room and lay on his bed.

-"See you soon, my ass."

-"Well, if you insist." Said an all too familiar voice.

The hedgehog, hesitatingly at first, turned towards the voice only to find John next to him. Several questions went through his mind. What was the meerkat doing there? How did he find out his address? When did he get here? But more importantly, "H-How did you get in here!?"

-"You see... I'm a ghost."

-"Lance..."

-"Chris, just listen to me."

-"Lance!" The hedgehog screamed as he ran to the door, but several feelings and images invaded him, stopping him from opening it: the meerkat's scent, the brakes of a car, the heat of another body surrounding him, an unknown turtle, himself at the hospital, loneliness. For a few moments, their lives had become one.

-"Do you believe me now?" John said.

-"Is something the matter Chris?" The frog's voice came from behind the door.

The hedgehog composed himself and opened the door enough to look at Lance while trying to hide the meerkat as much as he could.

"No, nothing. I, hum, just had a nightmare."

-"If you want... I could sleep with you, so that you feel safe." The frog said, giving his best smile.

-"No, thanks. I'm fine, see you tomorrow." The hedgehog said before slamming the door, leaving a very disappointed frog behind.

-"I think he didn't see you."

-"It's not like he could," a somber gaze was on John's face, "only you can do it. Only you can see me, hear me, or sense me in any way."

This came as a low blow to the hedgehog. Whatever it was that the meerkat wanted, Chris wouldn't have any of it. He wasn't even John's sloppy seconds; he was just the only one available at the moment. He returned to the bed and curled into a ball, not wanting to see any more of the meerkat.

-"So that's why you're here."

-"Chris, that's not-"

The hedgehog bared his spines, but they wouldn't help him against the opponent he was fighting. In spite of his attempts to keep the meerkat away, he could feel a hand caressing throughout his body, and then his face.

-"Just listen to me for a moment... yes, I'm here because you're the only one that can see me, but that's not all. If you were as worthless as you think you are, you really think I would have come at all? Give yourself some credit."

Worthless. Chris wanted to deny that he considered himself like that, but there was no point in trying to hide it. Just as he had seen a glimpse of the meerkat's life a few minutes ago, John had likely experienced something similar.

-"I also know that you want this," -- the meerkat's hand, which had been traversing the hedgehog's back all this time, lowered itself and stood above Chris's butt -- "and I'll take it... if you let me."

The hedgehog just nodded without even looking at the meerkat. His eyes were closed, and thus Chris was unable to see the smile on John's face, the same smile that had started all of this. From the feeling in his hole, the meerkat's penis was not the biggest Chris had taken, but he wondered how it would be giving his partner's special circumstances as he felt the meerkat poking him. He braced himself and let the ghost appendage enter him, taking some time to get used to the cock that wasn't really there to begin with.

John's technique was, for a lack of a better word, chaotic. There was no pattern to how often, or how hard, he trusted and each time it was in a different angle as if he was searching for something. That something was Chris's prostate, which became evident as the trusts became more focused in reaching that spot over and over again after the first time he came across it. Finally, the meerkat let the tip of his penis rest for a moment beside the gland and lowered himself to whisper in the hedgehog's ear.

-"Did you like that? How about this?"

What came next was something that Chris didn't expect. The meerkat poked him a little harder and the hedgehog felt as if he was being penetrated for a second time. John, being a ghost, was able to touch that which was forever to be hidden: he went through the hedgehog and directly reached his prostate, the meerkat's touch and heat invading him. It seemed that John understood the effect he had on Chris, since he decided to lie on the hedgehog's back and continued his endless proving until Chris could no longer hold it anymore and came, immediately falling asleep.

The next morning, Chris could not find John or any sign of what happened the night before. Had it only been a dream or had the meerkat gone away to never come back? Either way, the hedgehog missed his new friend, but the real world waits for no one. As he dressed up, however, he could see a familiar smile looking at him from the mirror.

-"Looking good"

-"Y-Yeah"

The pair continued their conversation from before while the hedgehog finished getting ready for work and then both left for the bus station. On the way there, John took the opportunity to fondle Chris, and the hedgehog was glad that no one else could see the erection that the meerkat, and himself to a lesser degree, sported.

The hedgehog thought that this would only continue until he took the company bus, but, once it came, the meerkat ran inside and sat on the only available seat, inviting Chris penis in hand. The hedgehog hesitated for a moment, but he had no other choice and sat over it for the way to work. He hoped that there wouldn't be many bumps in the road and wondered about the long and hard days that awaited him.
