Is it just me or am I getting worse at writing?

I followed the others down the path to the beach, taking note of the rock formations out in the water. The tide was level and calm, but beyond the rocks it looked like madness and chaos. There was a stretch of the beach a few yards to our left that had more rock formations, much larger than the ones in the water. The stone was all of orange and amber color, and the rocks glittered from what I guessed was tiny crystals.

Seth threw a towel down on the beach and laid on it, and I did too, snuggling up to him. There weren't very many people on the beach, mostly because it was Tuesday and it was kinda over cast for Summer. I remembered hearing Ted's dad talk about how we were supposed to get a thunder storm or something over the next couple of days, and how it was global warming's fault for making such a massive storm. When we'd gone over to Daniel's for him to get his swim trunks I heard his dad talking about how there was no explanation for it. Right, as if anyone could understand the fucking weather to the last detail.

The few people on the beach were just other teenagers, and only one of them was a guy. They didn't pay much attention to us, and I noticed Ted and Daniel taking off their shirts and kicking off their sandals. They went off to swim in the water for a few minutes, but me and Seth stayed on the beach. Neither of us were wearing swim trunks, and I didn't know that he had any.

Everything was going smoothly until one of the girls came over to us, a badger wearing a floral print sundress.

"Hey, are... Are you single?" She was starring at Seth, not me. She was standing off to the side, and clearly didn't see our hands locked together. Seth lifted our hands, and the girl blushed even worse than before.

"Oh, thank god."

"Uh, what?" [Seth]

"Yeah- no, my friends dared me to come over and ask you out. I'm, kind of dating someone, and they don't know, and... it's kind of serious."

"Oh, so I don't have to apologize?"

"He he, no, not at all." She headed back over to her group of friends, and I noticed Ted and Daniel coming over to us.

"What was that all about?" [Ted]

"Poor girl tried asking me out." [Seth]

"You're lucky I'm not Valen, man he would've killed you." [Me]

"For a girl asking me out?"

"Yup."

"There guys like that. I mean, Sammy was like that." [Daniel]

"I'm probably like that." [Ted]

"Well yeah, and so am I, but... oh Sammy..."

"Heh, you still love him."

"Okay, you can't be jealous of-"

"N-no, it's sweet."

"So, what did Sammy look like? I mean, I know he was an orca, but-" [Seth]

"Sammy wasn't an orca. Well, he was, but half orca. He was so special... He was hybrid of a folf and an orca. He was adorable as fuck, and his fur was so smooth and soft..." [Daniel]

"Huh. Man, there are some weird hybrids out there. I mean, Markus, for example." [Ted]

"Markus is kinda cute." [Me]

"No, Markus looks a bit like a freak." [Daniel]

"So what if he looks a little unusual, he's still my cousin." [Seth]

"Yeah, I'm not saying he's creepy or ugly, but I certainly wouldn't say cute." [Daniel]

"Okay, he has the genes as Seth, a lot of people in his family are cute." [Me]

There was an awkward pause in conversation, and Ted rubbed his arms as if he was cold, and Daniel put his arms around him.

"Well, this was fun." [Seth]

"Would've been more fun if you guys had joined." [Ted]

"Hey, I'm not showing off that star on my chest yet."

"Oh come on, it's not even that noticeable." [Daniel]

"Hey, if my boyfriend doesn't want random girls looking at his body, than he doesn't have to have random girls looking at his body." [Me]

"What about other gays, though?" [Ted]

"That's a definite no. Well, unless they're you guys."

"Psh, liberate the people from their lack of view of pure beauty." [Daniel]

"I feel like you could've just said commit suicide. I mean, seriously, the pentagrams may be harder to see on my face, but they aren't on my chest. They still stand out, and I'm not entirely happy about-" Midsentence, vermillion green lines started tracing his body, and I felt the warmth instantly leave his fur as the line raced around his arm. It felt refreshing, but also burnt a little.

"Great, that's another reason why I don't want to show myself off in public." [Seth]
