#7 of Fifty Shades of Tan

The intrepid Leilani journeys to the store with Gerald, partakes in a little "food play", and learns something quite...interesting about her tiger companion. ^^

Remember those "mommy" issues?

The tiger was right.

From the moment we stepped out of the hot sun and into the cool store, seeing every variety of creature milling around aisles and checkout lines, I indeed felt completely lost. Having Gerald by my side was fortuitous after all. For one reason, he certainly knew the store's layout and item location quite well, and we did in fact get in and out of the store quite quickly. Perhaps more fortunate, I was not approached by anyone the way I am used to being amorously chased at the beach, or swimming -- not with a seven-foot, at least 300-pound tiger by my side.

He took my arm and led me to a row of shopping carts, and I grabbed one carefully. "This is so different," I remarked, and watched as my companion took a cart for himself. "So...where should we go first?" My eyes widened in awe over the abundance and varieties of food I saw around me.

Gerald saw me already sniffing and laughed, clapping my back gently. "Come on, little otter. Watch and learn. I used to go shopping with my mom a lot growing up. Gang-way!" He growled and pushed the cart forward, nearly slamming into a few others as he cleared a path for me to walk down the first aisle, this one filled with all sorts of jarred and packaged fruits and nuts. If I had been hungry before, I was practically famished as I eyed the selection. I started to open one of the bags of dried pineapple that had caught my attention, and the tiger quickly took my paw. "Nono, Leilani. You have to pay for it first. Um...you have money, right?"

I grinned and held up my change-purse. "But can I not taste it at least?"

"Well," he sighed and looked around furtively, then winked. "Go ahead. I didn't see nothing."

I nodded and munched appreciably on one of the pineapple pieces. It was sweet, like candy, and chewy enough I could hold it inside my mouth and suckle it if I wanted to. My mouth was watering after the first slice. "These shops tease us," I whined playfully. "Having all this food here, and we cannot eat it right away."

Gerald laughed and squeezed my shoulder. "My mom used to let me open one of the bags of candy while I was in her cart, and by the time we'd get to the checkout, I'd have eaten it all. One of many perks being an only child."

I smiled and nodded, drawn next towards a large bakery section with display cases and shelves, giving off the most heavenly smells. Down from the shelves of breads, I saw a small group of pastries, donuts, pies, and cakes. I pressed my nose against the glass display and sighed. The smell of fresh donuts is almost too much for most to resist.

Gerald saw me in practical orgasm and nudged my hip. "Oh yeah, Trader Vic's makes some of the best donuts. Want to try one?"

I nodded enthusiastically, still staring at the rows of brightly colored, frosted goods. The tiger ordered a "cream stick" for me, glazed over with chocolate frosting, and then handed it to me with a grin. "Careful, they fill these up pretty much to the edges. One bite in the wrong place and you'll have cream all over you."

I carefully held the roughly seven-inch pastry, curiously looking at the bit of cream coming from one of the edges. Heeding the tiger's words, I closed my eyes and nudged my tongue gently at the spot of cream, giving the pastry a few careful flicks until it was gone. From the moment my tongue touched the sugary paste, I just wanted more of it.

When I opened my eyes, I noticed that by this time Gerald and a few others were watching me intently. I gave the pastry a gentle squeeze, and a bit more cream came from the tip for me to lick. "This is amazing," I said between licks, "It is like the cream does not end." I giggled and pressed my digits a bit more firmly around the cream stick, watching more and more of the sweet, sticky goo emerge from the tip, and I hungrily licked at it, until I had cream around my nose and whiskers.

Without bothering to stop and clean myself off, I closed my eyes, pushed my mouth up against the edge this time, closed my lips around the hole in the pastry, and with my paw giving the cream stick several firm squeezes around the lower half, I was able to enjoy a gush of cream going into my mouth and down my throat. I moaned softly, making sounds of delight, and after a few more firm squeezes, I was able to drain the pastry almost completely dry.

I heard another soft moan nearby, and I saw a slightly-built skunk in jean shorts and a t-shirt, watching me intently, his paw between his legs and rubbing at a useless erection. Beside him, his female companion, another skunk, glared over at him and slapped his face, snapping him out of his erotic reverie, and he sheepishly walked away behind her angrily-twitching tail.

I turned and saw Gerald watching me dreamily, his eyes wide, and he shook his head and chuckled. "Come on, little otter. We'll get you a dozen of these. But let's put them in a bag, okay? Before you turn on the whole store."

I did not understand what he was talking about but my tail was already wagging. "Oh yes, please. This is my new favorite food." I giggled, side-stepping around a few others who had been eying me, and followed the tiger to the counter to order more.

In other aisles, I located cookie mix and whipped cream, and added them to my cart. I had no idea how to make my own food, especially processed like this, but I was determined to do my best. Gerald excused himself briefly to go to a baby-care aisle, and returned with diapers. "I did not know you had little ones, Gerald," I smiled, thinking of the adorable tiger cubs I had seen sometimes in Tahiti. Tourists come from miles around to enjoy the beach and its denizens, and very often I would see children running around. I have always liked watching them, and playing with them.

I just am not the mother-type.

"Oh, um...I don't actually. Um...they're, uh, for my sister." His face got a bit red and his whiskers drooped. "She's staying with friends for a while but she lets her cub come over to visit us, and I gotta keep these things on hand, just in case, you know. She's great, my sister, a good mom, she's going to school to become a nurse, and graduating this summer, so every so often she'll bring over her cub for us to look after."

I nodded uncertainly. Had the tiger not said he was an only child before?

I decided not to pry further and followed Gerald to the checkout line. "Strange," I remarked as we got in line, helping myself to another cream stick - and inadvertently drawing more attention to myself. "All this processed food you all eat." I gestured to the cookie mix box.

Gerald grinned. "Way of the world, little otter. You'll get used to it. We're a lazy society."

I looked at his cart and saw the diapers. I asked, "How old is the cub?"

The tiger flushed and it seemed his demeanor was once again bashful. I thought maybe he was just nervous about my asking personal questions. "Oh, he's...um, uh, well, he's older than most cubs. We're...uh...t-trying to get him used to big-boy pants soon."

I smiled around my cream stick and brushed some of the goo from my whiskers. "How sweet. I would love to meet him."

Gerald looked white as a sheet for a moment, then seemed to color again as he replied, "You will. And...he'd like to meet you too."

I noticed the usually-chatty tiger was now a bit more reserved and quiet, so I appreciated the silence as we walked out with our purchases and headed to a nearby cab-stand. As we walked, I chatted instead about Tahiti, growing up wild and free, my journey to the States, and my excitement over exploring a whole new ocean. Gerald would nod and smile on occasion, apparently happy to listen.

When we got back to the condominium, we said our goodbyes at the elevator. I had just enough time to make a late lunch for myself, bake cookies for Cody's visit tomorrow, and then hurry over to Roxanne and Rhonda's apartment for dinner. I reminded Gerald I was really looking forward to meeting his sister's cub.

"So am I, little otter." He was all smiles as he walked away, carrying his bags and the box of diapers, and added over his shoulder, "You're gonna just love him."
