Green Tea, with ice

(Cup Four)

"This is going to be a long day." Erin said with a yawn. Her and her lover had to get up and early to head back to Erin's house to get a little more sleep before having to get up and head out to school, where they were going now.

"I wonder what happened with your brother." Cassandra asked as the two walked to the bus stop, glancing over to her. "It seemed like something happened with him and his boyfriend, you think that everything is ok?"

"I don't know....I have never seen him like that." Erin said as the two got to the bus stop, standing close to one another trying to keep warm. "Maybe they got into a fight or something like that....I don't know, I will have to talk to him when we back this afternoon."

"I hope that it's nothing too bad, I think that the two make a good couple, and Casey is a sweetheart." Cassandra said nodding as she stood there waiting with her lover for the bus.

"There's a storm coming." Erin said, shivering a little as she reached down to rub at her leg, at the nub that was tucked into her fake leg. "And it's going to be a bad one." She said straightening up and starting to dig through her bag, pulling out a small pill bottle and popping the top off of it.

"Think that they will cancel school or something today, cause I would be perfectly fine with going back home with you and just snuggling into your warm bed." Cassandra said smiling as she watched Erin shaking out a pill from the bottle and popping it into her muzzle and swallowing it down. "What was that?"

"Huh?" She asked, pausing for a moment to think. "It's just something for my leg." Erin said as the bus pulled up. "Just something to help with the pain." She said as they started getting onto the bus and making their way to the handicap seats, sitting down, the kitten looking around at all of the new faces on the bus.

"Just be careful." She said smiling and nudging the bat. "So who are some of these people?" She asked glancing around the bus, looking at the many students that were talking.

"Well, that one there." Erin said pointing to a fluffy, long tailed mouse lemur girl, "is Renita, she's a little bit of a wild child. The one next to her is the exchange student, Chink, Cheng or something like, I never got her name." The bat said pointing to the crested dog next to her. "The fluffy puppy over there is Jessica, she's....a little.....off, but she is adorkable. The wolf boy there is Stan, younger brother of the guy that I got the stuff from last night. And then way in the back, the punk looking koala is Cindy, you kinda have to watch her, she's in with the mean girl crowd." The bat said as she leaned back in the seat, her hand slipping down to start rubbing her leg, just above her stump.

"Yeah, I will keep that in mind....I think that mom would kill me if I got into trouble this soon of us moving here." She said nodding and slouching, leaning close to her lover. "And are you sure that you're ok?" She asked, putting her hand on the bat's.

"I am, my leg is just bothering me a little, it's cause of the weather." She said smiling and purring softly. "Once my meds kick in, I will be right as rain, and it's so cute how you worry about me Kitten."

"Oh shush Flutter." Cassandra said smiling and nudging the bat with her elbow. "You're one of my only friends here, I'm going to worry about you."

"Awwww, you're just a big softy." The bat said smiling and snickering as she leaned against her friend. "Hopefully we will get to go home early.....that snuggling and stuff that you talked about is sounding better and better.

The ride to school was a boring one, the two sitting there watching things speeding by out the window, and the sounds of the other's talking, bits and pieces of different conversations. In the end the pair could have made it to school a little faster if they had walked, but it was easier on Erin and her leg if they rode the bus. Soon the bus had made it to the school and the kids started filing off and heading off to their lockers or to their classrooms.

"Ok.....It looks like I'm going to be your guide for the day.....or most of it." Erin said smiling as she got off the bus and started walking into the building with the cat in toe. "Don't worry, if I'm not around most anyone here is nice enough to help.....though if you see the koala girl....or a fairy armadillo....just keep walking, they are the two bigger bullies in the school."

"A fairy what?" Cassandra asked, tilting her head a little, before glancing over to the bat. The two walking through the halls, heading to the front office.

"A white furred armadillo....a literal hard ass....as in her ass is covered in that weird plate armor stuff." Erin said snickering as she lead her into the office, smiling at the workers there. "Hey Ms. Shellie." Erin said as she walked up to the counter. "I brought you a new kid." She said snickering a little as Cassandra walked up beside her.

"Hello." Cassandra said smiling and nodding to the maine coon woman. "I'm Cassandra Amrine, my family just moved here from up north." She said looking down, watching the office workering looking through some papers.

"Oh....just give me a sec and I will find your schedule and all that." Shellie said smiling up to the new student for a moment before going back to digging through some folders. "Here we go." She said pulling out a few papers, and it looks like you and Erin are in the same home room. That will make it easier for you to show her around." She said handing the feline the papers. "That first one has your class list, locker number and combo on it, the others are just papers for your parents that tell them about the different things that happen at the school."

"Thank you ma'am." Cassandra said as she took the papers and glanced over them.

"Look at that, we have home room and a few other classes together." Erin said smiling, and your locker is near mine.....I think it's just at the end of the hallway." She said reaching out and taking the cat's hand. "Come on and I will show you to homeroom and all that." She said tugging her a little as she started walking out of the office. "I think that we have a lot of the same classes together, and the few that we don't aren't that bad or hard to find."

"That sounds like a good idea to me." The cat said as she followed the bat down the hallway, smiling and glancing around the hallway, looking at the different classrooms and the people walking around them.

"Ok, this is your locker." Erin said as she came to a stop in front of a set of lockers, pointing to one with the number one hundred and three. "Mine is just a few down, if you want to ever leave me a love note or something." She said pointing to the locker numbered one hundred and eight.

"This is the combo for it right?" Cassandra asked as she looked up from the paper, not bothering to open it as she didn't have anything to put in there.

"Alright." Erin said taking her hand and tugging her over to her locker, stopping long enough to open and grab the books that she would need before pulling the feline onwards. The white bat lead her down the hallway and around the corner, and up to one of the doors. "This is it. This is our homeroom."

"So what exactly happens in homeroom, I know that it tends to be something a little different between schools." Cassandra said following her in and up to a desk near her.

"Well here, it's just mostly to make sure that everyone is here and no one is cutting class." The bat said slouching down in her seat, stretching her leg out. "I'm ready to go home." Erin said with a little huff, slowly rubbing her leg.

"Oh come on, we just got here." Cassandra said smiling and rolling her eyes.

"Do you really want to be here?" The bat asked cocking her eyebrow at her friend.

"No, I would rather be at home, snuggled up with this really cute bat girl that I know....maybe doing some other things with her to." Cassandra said smiling and snickering.

"That sounds so good.....so much better than being here....and maybe then my leg wouldn't be hurting me." Erin said smiling and reaching over to nudge her.

"Ok class." The male beaver said waddling into the class and up to the desk. "My name is Bob." He said coming in and sitting down at the desk. "I know that most of you know who I am, but we do have a new student with us today. Miss Cassandra, would you come up to the front of the class and tell us about yourself."

Once she got to the front of the class, she looked around, blushing a little. "Umm hello, I'm Cassandra." She started out, shifting from paw to paw. "I'm from a city up north called MarbleCliff. I moved here with my mom and dad, because we inherited a nice house or something." She said looking from the class over to the teacher, "is that all that I need to do?"

"Yes sweetie." He said watching her heading back to her desk before getting up and walking in front of the class. "Well I do have a little announcement." He said holding up a paper. "It looks like we have some bad weather coming in, and it's looking like we may have to cancel classes." He said as he went back to his desk, sitting down and tossing the paper in the little bin next to his desk "Until then, we will go on with class like normal."

The teacher's little speech was met with a chorus of boos and groans from the class, it was clear that the kids didn't want to stay in the class this morning, much less spend the rest of their day there.

The morning went on, slowly but it went on. The teacher giving his normal lectures and the like, talking about different things that were happening in the school, upcoming events and things like that. It was getting about that time for the bell to ring to let the students know that it was time to move on to the next class, but this time it was the intercom that sputtered to life again.

"Students, after having checkeding the weather, it looks like the upcoming snow storm is nearly here and that it's going to be, like they said, a harsh one." The voice of the principal came through statically. "So because of that, we are going to be releasing the students to go home before the storm gets here. So, for the ones of you that need to, you may use the phone in the office to call and make arrangements for a ride, students that ride the bus, you will still be able to catch a bus home, we will be making an announcement for that shortly. Other wise, you all are free to return home." The intercom went silent.

"Well it looks like we will get to go home and have those snuggles and stuff that you were talking about.....Though knowing mom, she will want to go to the store before the storm hits, to make sure that we have bread and milk, but I'm sure that she wouldn't mind me and you just laying around the house." Erin said with a little snicker as she forced herself up and out of her chair, staggering a little on her fux leg.

"Erin, are you sure that you can walk well enough to make it home?" Cassandra asked as she got up, watching the bat shifting from leg to leg. "Your leg must be killing you."

"It is, but it's not that bad....just yet." The bat said as she gathered up her bag and coat, slipping said coat on and walking around her desk to stand with her lover. "Now lets get home, I want to get out of these cloths and snuggled up to a fluffy kitten." She said smiling and leaning in close.

"You're a dork." Cassandra said with a little snicker. Without warning the two found themselves on the floor, the bat cursing at the fact that she had just fallen on top of her lover.

"Well, would you look at that?" A voice called out, causing the two to look over, standing a few rows over was a badger female. She was short, rough and full of fire, dressed in the school uniform she was still punk looking. "The one legged wonder forgot how to walk."

"Fuck you Robin." The bat said, trying to get up off of her friend, having a little trouble at first, but getting help from the seval.

"Yeah, you wish, you carpet muncher." The bitch badger said snickering, nearly bursting into a fit of laughter as she looked at the bat standing there on one leg, her fake leg laying on the floor.

"Yeah and? I still get more sex and better sex than some butch dyke." Erin said snickering, watching Robin's expression changing. "That, and I'm not like you. I don't get off on having my head shoved up the school slut's ass."

"You know what. I'm going to beat you shitless, and make it so that you don't need that fake leg.....I'm going to put you in a wheelchair." Robin said, nearly yelling. The commotion that the two were causing called the attention of a large brown bear, the school's biggest bully and slut.

"Well speak of the bitch and she shows up." Erin said glaring at the bear that had joined the badger. "Shouldn't you two be off getting the dyke's head lubed up so you can get it back up your ass?"

"You know Stumpy, you have one more thing to say to me that pisses me off....or look at me the wrong way and I will beat you shitless." The bear growled out, glaring at the pair.

Erin didn't say anything at first, she just bent down and picked up her prosthetic. "Well.....did I tell you, your mom left her dildo at my house when we were fucking?" The bat said with a snicker.

"Erin, calm down.....she's not worth it." Cassandra said, turning to face the bat. "She could use a good ass whooping, but not here."

"Well, it looks like Stumpy's bitch is doing her job and talking some sense into her." Robin said laughing at her own childishness.

"You know what? I'm just going to beat you both to death with my leg." Erin said holding the leg up like a club.

"Alright you lot." The teacher's voiced filled the room, getting the group of kids to turn and look at him. "Break it up. Robin, you and Brandy go on and go home, or to the bus, which ever." He said walking over to Erin, watching the two bullies to make sure that they left.

"Thank you." Erin said smiling a little at the teacher as she lowered her arm before sitting down and slipping her leg back into her pants and wiggling her stump into it.

"Do you two have a way home?" Bob said smiling at the two, the larger beaver doing his best to be helpful.

"We normally catch the bus or walk. We were going to walk home." Erin said smiling at the teacher.

"Ok. Just wanted to make sure that you two could get home." He said smiling and walking over to his desk.

"Come on Flutter." Cassandra said smiling and offering her hand to her friend, helping her up.

"Ok Kitten." The bat said smiling and grabbing her bag before the two headed out of the classroom, making their way to the front of the building and then out to the courtyard.

"You sure that you will be ok walking home like this?" The cat asked as the two started walking through the school yard, having noticed that her friend was walking a lot slower and her limp seemed worse.

"Yeah....mostly." Erin said nodding. "That and we don't have to go all that far, I mean we will be passing by the store, we can stop there and rest or get mom to take us home." Erin said smiling to her friend and lover.

"Ok, I don't want you to over do it or anything." Cassandra said as the two made it to the main gate of the school, heading out onto the sidewalk of main street. Most of the walk up the street was a silent one, the pair enjoying the sights of the town and the gathering clouds in the distance that was getting closer. "Think that it's going to be a big storm like the weather says?"

"I don't know, but I'm sure that it's going to be a pretty big one....just going by the way that my leg feels." The snow white bat said as the store, The Belfry came into view. "I know that we are going to need a lot of snacks and snuggles to keep warm and all." Erin said as they kept walking up to the building.

"Well.....it has been a long time since I had some good s'mores....I kinda want one now." Cassandra said snickering a little, remembering some of the things that happened that time at summer camp.

"Ever have stovetop s'mores?" Erin said with a little snicker, as they got to the door of the building, slipping into it. "Mom, it's just us. They let us go home early cause of the storm that is coming." The bat said as she walked through the store with the serval behind her.

"That's good. At least if it gets too bad you all will be at home." Ruth said as she leaned on the counter. "Cassandra, have you called your parents about staying with us? Or do you need a ride home, I was thinking about closing the store down for the day."

"I don't think that they mind if I stay, but I will call them and find out." Cassandra said walking to the front of the store, pulling her phone from her pocket.

"Your leg is bothering you isn't it." The mother bat asked, turning and looking at her daughter that was now leaning on the counter. "I know that the weather has to be doing it."

"It is....but it's not that bad." Erin said smiling and nodding. "Once we get home and I can get off of it, it will be better." She said smiling, leaning down to rub it a little more.

"You sure?" The mother asked sitting up and putting her hand on Erin's shoulder. "I know how you are with pain....I mean you get it from me."

"I'm sure." Erin said rolling her eyes, about that time the serval came back from the front of the store, putting her phone back in her pocket.

"I called and told mom about the storm and all that, and she said that it would be ok if I stayed, well as long as it is ok with you and all." Cassandra said as she walked up to the others.

"Well that sounds like a plan to me." The mother bat said turning to walk to the back of the store. "You two wait here, I'm going to grab the keys and all and we will head out."

"Ok mom." Erin said as she reached into her bag, fishing out the small pill bottle out and popping one of the little pills out into her hand before tossing it into her muzzle, scooping up the can drink that her mom had sitting on the counter before sitting it down.

"Erin, you're not taking to many of those things are you?" Cassandra said cocking her eyebrow.

"No....I'm following the little label." Erin said right as Ruth came out of the back.

"Alright ladies." Ruth said smiling and waving for them to follow her, the girls following her through the store and out of the building, stopping outside so that the mother bat could lock up before leading them around the building to the parking lot in the back and up to her car. "So, do you girls want to come with me to make a snack run and all that or do you want to go home and have some private time before I get back with snacks and Chad.....then again he might be staying with his boyfriend."

"I don't think he will.....I kinda think that something has happened between them." Erin said as she got into the back seat of the car. "And I think that we will head home and rest there a little, I don't really feel like walking that much."

"Ok, that sounds fair." The mother bat said as she started pulling the car out of the parking lot and starting to head home. "And no, he hasn't said anything to me about it."

"I think they might have gotten into an argument or something." Erin said as they pulled out onto main street and starting to drive up it, a light snow starting to fall.

"I wouldn't out and bother him about it." Ruth said shrugging a little, "but if he comes to you about it, I would be a good sister and listen if I was you." She said smiling a little.

"I didn't plan on it." Erin said slouching back a little. "I just worry about him." She said looking out the window, the sight of the apartment building now sitting to the left of them.

"Oh I know sweetie." Ruth said smiling, turning back and glancing at her daughter. "Do you have your key?"

"I have the key." She said smiling and nodding as she reached into her bag and pulled out a key ring before opening her down and the pair getting out. "See you in a little mom."

"See you later Ms Ruth." Cassandra said walking over to the bat and following her into the building, the bat seeming to move a little slower. "Erin, I think that you need take over the couch, lay down and rest, and just let me take care of you."

"I'm fine.....Thank you and all but I just need to sit down and stay off my leg, I can still walk and take care of myself.....though I can think of some other things that you can take care of for me." The bat said with a little snicker, her hand reaching over to pat her friend on the butt, getting a meep out of her.

"Such a perv." Cassandra said rolling her eyes as the elevator door opened and the two got in, Erin hitting the button.

"Sometimes, but you love it." Erin said snickering, the elevator lurching to a stop and the door opening for the two to make their exit and head down the hall to the bat family's apartment. "Ah, home sweet home."

"Now go get that ass parked on the sofa." Cassandra said smiling and pointing to the sofa.

"Ok mom." Erin said rolling her eyes as she walked to the sofa. "I could use a little rest." She said as she kept walking past the sofa to the window to look out, taking in the sight of the snow that was starting to fall a little harder now. "Well it looks like the snow storm is here."

"And it looks like a bat isn't laying on the sofa." Cassandra said smiling and poking her head out of the kitchen.

"Oh mom." Erin said rolling her eyes as she went back to the sofa and setting her bag down on the floor before flopping onto the sofa and then reaching down to take her leg off before laying down.

"I'm going to make us some snacks." Cassandra said from the small kitchen. "Is there anything that you want?"

"Na, I think that I'm going to take a little nap.....some kitten kept me up most of the night." Erin said with a little snicker, rolling onto her side and leaning over the sofa to start digging into her bag. "You could stop hurting anytime now." The bat whispered as she pulled out the pill bottle and popped the top on it. Shaking several of the small white tablets into her hand, her logic clouded by the opioids that she had already taken, she thought that if taking the one, the dosage didn't work, taking more would. Reaching over and grabbing the bottle of water from the table, one that someone left sitting there from the night before she used it to take the pills before laying back on the sofa and closing her eyes for a little nap.

It took Cassandra about ten or fifteen minutes to get the snacks for her and the bat ready, she had found some apples and cut them up and covered them in a little brown sugar before popping them into the oven for a few moments. Coming into the living room she saw her friend laying on the sofa, snoring softly.

"Hey flutter, I made snacks." She said smiling and setting the plate on the table. "It's not a lot but I think that you will like it." Cassandra looked over to the bat, watching her for a moment, seeing that her breathing was a little shallow. "Hey Erin."

There was a moment of silence as the cat looked down at the bat that showed no sign of waking up or moving for that matter. Rushing over and around the table the kitten was next to her lover, hand on her shoulder and calling her name, shaking her a little. Slowly and weakly the bat's eyes fluttered open.

"Erin......Erin wake up." Cassandra mewled out as she shook her, something in the back of her mind was telling her that something was wrong with her friend. "Come on wake up." She said leaning a little closer, a hand shooting up to her friends face, fingers carefully pulling her eyelids open, seeing that her pupils were like pin points. "Oh god.....what's wrong....Erin....Erin." She barked out as she shook her harder. "What do I do?" She whimpered out, it was about then that it hit her, Erin's brother was a nurse he would be able to help.

Reaching into the bat's bag she dug through it, looking for her phone, the first thing that she found was the mostly empty pill bottle. She let out a little curse, she knew that this had to be the cause of her lover's condition. Giving up on looking through the bag, her hand slipped into the bat's pocket, finding her phone and quickly unlocking it and scrolling through the list of names and numbers stopping and hitting the one that was labeled 'brother'.

"Come on....pick up....." She whispered as she heard the phone ringing. "Erin, wake up.....stay with me." She murmured as she reached out and nudged, even going as far as to pinch her.

"Whatcha want?" Chad's voice picked up on the other end, coming in over several sounds, it was clear that he was in a car.

"It's Erin!' Cassandra's spoke up. "Something's happened to her." She said, her voice nearly creaking as she tried to keep from sobbing.

"Wait....what is it?" Chad's came back, sounding concerned, Ruth's voice heard in the background, asking what was wrong.

"I'm not sure, but I think that she has taken too many of her pills." Cassandra said resting her hand on her lover's chest to make sure that she was breathing.

"Check her pupils and see if they are constricted....little pinpoints." The male bat said before holding the phone away from him to say something to the mother bat.

"I did and they are." The kitten squeaked out. "She's breathing but it's really slow and shallow." She said leaning in to get a better look at her lover, she could see that her lips were slowly turning blue.

"Ok, she's still breathing." Chad said. "It looks like she's going through an OD. We are on the way home, mom is calling an ambulance now, so go unlock the door now." He said, the mother's voice replacing his, Cassandra could hear her talking to the operator.

"Ok." Cassandra said as she got up and rushed to the door, unlocking it and then slipping back to her lover. "Fuck.....fuck.....Erin!" She screamed out. "I think that she's stopped breathing."

"Put the phone on speaker and set it on the table, get her on the floor and get ontop of her like you would be riding her." Chad spoke up, only a hint of panic in his voice, his years of training starting to show through.

There was a moment of silence save for the sounds of the phone being set on the table and the limb body of the bat being moved to the floor. "O....Ok."

"Ok, I'm going to walk you through CPR." Chad's voice filled the room. "Put one palm on top of the back of your other hand and lock the fingers together." He started out, giving the serval a moment to do so. "Press the palm of your hand into the middle of her chest and using short jabs, press down ten times." He stopped again, hearing Cassandra's voice counting out, going from one to ten. "Now hold her nose, tilt her head back and make sure that her tongue is out of the way and form a seal with your lips around her's. Breath into her three times and then start over."

"The ambulance will be there in just a few." Ruth's voice chimed in. "Tell her just to hand in there that it will all be alright."

At this point Cassandra blocked everything out, focusing on nothing but her lover and making sure that she was breathing, making sure that she would make it. She had only met her a few days ago, but there was something about the girl. Something that she was just attractied to and by god she didn't want to lose her now. It wasn't long after the bat's mother said it that she could hear the sound of an ambulance stopping outside of the building and the thundering rush of people coming up the steps.
