Paul was looking up at the magnificent stone dragon that stood sentry in the middle of the dojo's floor, he was deep in thought as Spyro walked up to him and said "Paul, the guardians want to see you" Without looking Paul replied "why do they want to see me, have they got more questions or something?" Paul replied in annoyed voice he was really getting tied of all the questions and the constant nagging that the guardians put him though, all he wanted was to be left along to think about his future in the ‘dragon Realms' or whatever they call them. "Are you alright Paul?" asked Paul suddenly worried about him"Yeah I am fine, let's go" Paul said trying his best to not collapse in a heap crying and sobbing about everything he left behind. as he started walking towards the massive archway that was the entrance to the Temple's dojo Spyro had to run to catch up with Paul as he headed towards the guardians in silence "Ah there you are Paul" said Volteer, Paul stood at ease in front of the assembled guardians, including Cynder and Spyro."Paul is there something bothering you?" asked Ignitus instantly all of the dragons were focused on Paul except for Sparx who was quietly devouring a small pile of dead butterflies in a corner but still a part of the meeting. "Yeah, I am just thinking about all of the people that I left behind and..." Paul voice trailed off as he stood silently missing his close friends and everyone else who had been left behind when he came to the dragon realms. "It is O.K Paul, we know it is hard for you to take in everything since you have only been here in the dragon realms for a very short amount of time" Cynder said in a kind and friendly way. "If you want we could give you some time alone to ponder and gather your thoughts" Exclaimed Cyril, Paul answered him as we walked off toward a nearby balcony. "Yeah... I think I do need to gather my thoughts can you give me 5 minutes?" "Of course we can, but we do really need to talk to you Paul" exclaimed Ignitus. Paul remained silent as he slowly walked out on the balcony, all of a sudden his emotions got the better of him and he started to sob, then he felt a light paw on his shoulder he glanced backwards and was quite surprised when he saw Cynder that was with him. "Cynder" Paul asked quietly as he fought back tears, not wanting to openly cry in front of her "it is O.K Paul, I understand your sadness I know it is hard for you to understand what is happening and how to adjust to the things that happen around here hell, to tell you the truth I am scared, so is Spyro and the rest of the guardians." Cynder said trying her best to comfort and reassure Paul. The only answer she received in return was silence, pure and utter silence after a few minutes of silence Cynder finally gave in and turned tail to leave Paul by himself, but just as she was about leave the balcony, Paul spoke "thanks Cynder for helping me realize that I am not the only one that is scared and that someone actually understands my sadness right now and how it is hard to adjust to things around here" he looked around and chuckled "I think my 5 minutes is up." Ignitus was just about to send Sparx to go and tell Paul that his 5 minutes was up, as well as fetching Cynder who wanted to have some fresh air. Cyril whispered to Ignitus "Cynder is back and she has brought Paul as well".Ignitus was now ready to tell Paul about the situation with the apes and how the apes were going to try to attack on the temple and how they needed Paul's help in defending the temple if such an attack was to take place. After hearing about the situation, Paul asked Ignitus "so what made the apes do all this in the first place?" but before Ignitus could tell Paul, Cynder interrupted and said to Paul "it was my army, well it was when I was controlled by the dark master, I did things that I do not want to rembember and to think that I laughed at their pain and suffering" Mumbled Cynder sounding sad.

• * * "How would you prefer to nail the apes, indoors or out, you choose" Paul said with some authority in his voice as he addressed the assembled dragons that stood in front of him. The Guardians just looked at each other and looked shocked at Paul's statement, and then Volteer spoke up "I think that we would be at a better defensive position if we build up our positions here and keep them at bay from the balconies of the temple, by dropping rocks and strafe them while they approach." All of the guardians looked at Paul, expecting Paul to say something but Paul was nowhere to be seen, "We got company!!" yelled Paul loudly so the guardians could hear him; they all rushed outside where Paul was standing looking down at the advancing Ape army. Ignitus looked down at the army and addressed the Guardians."We don't have time to build up our defenses so I want all of you to grab armor and meet me back here ASAP! Go!" The Guardians did not need further prompting; they quickly turned tail and ran towards different parts of the temple. As soon as Ignitus saw them disappear, he turned to Paul and said "Paul we are going to need your assistance in this battle if we are going to drive off the ape army"Paul thought about this for a few seconds before making up his mind, "I will help you in this forthcoming battle Ignitus"Thank you Paul, your help will be greatly appreciated in this battle, let's go, but before we do we need to get some armor for you, that is if you are going to survive." 15 minutes later they were ready for battle, Paul,Spyro,Cynder,Cyril,Terador,Volteer and Ignitus stood in front of the assembled defenders of the temple, Ignitus nodded to Paul, who started to speak to the assembled crowd. "Spyro will be the Commander of Alpha Company, Cynder is the XO. Ignitus, is the Commander of Bravo Company, Cyril is the XO. Sparx you are with me. Terrador go with Volteer and co-ordinate attack runs over the army." Paul yelled, he waved Sparx over, as soon as Sparx was over Paul whispered to Sparx "I don't know if they understood me so can you yell, "is that understood to them, please Sparx" "Yeah sure I can do that Paul." Sparx said proudly as he puffed out his chest. Suddenly Sparx yelled. "IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?!!" The assembled dragons stood silent for a few second until a massive roar erupted from the crowd. Paul was taken aback by the force of the roar, Sparx then turned to Paul, "I think that they understand you sir." Sparx replied. "ALLRIGHT THEN LETS GO!" yelled Paul at the top of his lungs, Spyro, the Guardians and the defenders all ran out towards the defenses. 3 minutes later they were in position and ready for the incoming attack, then they heard it. The loud bellowing Howl of the ape army rushing towards the base of the temple, Paul looked though his pair of binoculars at the rapidly advancing army as he lay prone at the entrance of the room where Volteer and Terrador were organizing flights of Rock dropping dragons that Volteer named the ‘HELL DRAGONS' were going to take off. "3 minutes before there are in range." Paul spoke to Sparx who was hovering near Paul listening intently. Spyro had organized his dragons into several squads, which now waited for the apes to attack; Ignitus also divided his dragons into squads which now stood guard over the only ground level entrance to the temple. Several apes rushed the dragons that stood guard over the entrance; the dragons did not stand a chance to the large number of apes, who rushed inside of the temple unchallenged. Ignitus looked on in horror as the ape army rapidly entered the temple. Ignitus then flew as fast as he could to Spyro to tell him to pull back and push back the apes. Spyro was horrified that the apes some how gained entry to the temple and he quickly under Ignitus's advise began to pull back his squads to the interior of the temple in an effort to hopefully repel the apes that swarmed into the dragon temple at an alarming rate. Meanwhile....... Paul was helping a group of defenders bitterly fight back the apes that surged into several of the rooms of the temple and barricaded themselves in, suddenly a wave of apes rushed Paul and the defenders that were trying to keep control over several rooms, one of which the HELL DRAGONS were based and were also fighting bitterly a losing battle against the waves of ape intruders. Paul heard a scream and looked around to find a young dragon being over run by a group of apes, he Roared loudly and charged the group, he killed the first ape with a slash, all around him the apes were falling, he felt that he was being slashed and stabbed but he kept on fighting the group of apes that were attacking the young dragon, that he was now saving. Once the apes were killed he scooped up the dragon and ran back to the fighting, and to the dragons that were desperately trying to hold off the surge of attackers. He heard a massive roar and looked up to see Cynder unleashing a horrible green mist over the apes, the defenders stopped fighting to see the apes suddenly wither and howl in pain as the green mist hit them. Spyro was close behind and ripped though the apes with a massive wall of flames. In his mind Paul yelled Reinforcements!! Now we have a fighting chance to defeat these apes. After about 2 hours the apes were forced into retreat by the dragons. A dragon ran up to Paul and said "the last of the ape forces have fled sir." "Thank you soldier, carry on" Paul replied. The dragon saluted and ran off, Paul returned the salute and walked off to where he was going to meet Spyro and the Guardians, as he started to walk, he heard a loud clacking sound behind him and instinctively turned around to see the dragon that he saved run up and hug him tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, for saving me from the apes, I thought I was going to die until you killed them all!" The dragon said that was tightly hugging Paul. Paul was taken aback by this, and did not know what to say. "Well, I saw that you were being attacked and I acted about it." Paul replied to the dragon that was looking in his eyes as he spoke, "Well I am going to see the Spyro and the Guardians now, so if you want to come with me then that is fine." Paul said to the dragon as he turned to make his way to place where he was going to meet Spyro and the Guardians. As he started to walk he heard the clacking sound again and turned to see the dragon running towards him, "Why do you want to come with me?" queried Paul as the dragon started to walk beside him. The dragon thought about his question for a few minutes. Then the dragon replied "I wanted to meet the Guardians, You, Spyro, and Cynder." "What is your name?" Paul asked in a friendly way, the dragon took the question in its stride and kept on walking. "Eve" Eve replied as she kept on walking with Paul as they rounded the corner to the hallway that lead to the meeting room that Spyro, Cynder, and the Guardians were going to meet them. "My name is Paul" Paul said to Eve as they entered the meeting room. "Welcome Paul" Ignitus spoke to Paul, then said "and who are you young dragon?" continued Ignitus when he saw Eve standing next to Paul"I am Eve" replied Eve to Ignitus, who looked at Paul with a confused look. Paul looked around at the remaining Guardians and sighed, "Ignitus, Eve is a dragon that I saved from being killed by a group of apes." Paul explained, "And I told her that she could come along to this meeting with me" "oh ok then back to the meeting Paul, we have successfully pushed backed the apes and we can now say that they will not be a problem for a while, that was thanks to your help Paul." Spoke Ignitus and with the rest of the Guardians nodding in agreement. "Paul you brought up the topic of ‘Karate' and we have all seen you practice this and we have a number of dragons that have some interest in learning your ‘Karate' that you have been practicing." Cyril spoke to Paul, "since we have such a large number of dragons putting forward their interest in this we are asking you if you want to teach those who are interested how to do ‘Karate'. Cyril Continued, It only took Paul a few moments before making up his mind. "Ok I will train those who are interested in karate then." replied Paul.
