Brace for Impact: Chapter 2

By: Silverback Christianpaw

My wrestling name is Cross Wolfe. After being punked out by Dixie Carter's nephew, Ethan Carter the Third (EC3), I managed to bring it right back to him in my TNA Impact Wrestling tryout match where I beat him not once, not twice, but three times! I hoped and prayed that would get me noticed by the company and it looks like it certainly did because they gave me a contract!

This night was my first official match and it certainly started out like a dream come true. We were back for our second night in the Manhattan Center. The fans were rabid and this match was going to be taped for an Impact Wrestling broadcast. They put me in a Fatal-4-Way X-Division match with, DJ Zema Ion, "Stone Cold" Shark Boy, and Sonjay Dutt. Three tremendous X-Division athletes I was looking forward to facing in the six-sided ring. To help introduce me to the TNA fans they also scheduled a backstage interview before the match. I was going to make sure that both the interview and the match count. I wanted to be all over this broadcast once it aired.

I stood off-camera as the production guys cued up their equipment for my interview. Jeremy Borash stood with a microphone in his hand as a lady with glasses and long red fingernails counted him down.

She mouthed, "5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . ."

Jeremy said, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, Jeremy Borash backstage with our newest superstar," he signaled me to walk into camera frame as I stepped in behind him. He looked right up at me, I was already feeling like a big deal. "The man who pulled off a major upset last week by defeating Ethan Carter the Third on three separate occasions," he said, "This is Cross Wolfe; and may I say you certainly made an impact."

I made sure to be serious, I tried to be stern, "That's right JB, That's exactly what this business...particularly this company is all about; leaving an impact. And tonight, I'm going to leave an impact on the X-Division. You see JB, you have DJ Z, Sonjay Dutt, and Shark Boy; three of the greatest X-Division wrestlers in the history of TNA. But you see after tonight--"

"Tonight!"

I backed up and watched EC3 walk up to both myself and JB and . . . he was not alone. A very large man with a beard stood behind EC3, "Tonight Cross Wolfe, is because of me," he said. "You see, you should be thanking me because I _personally_went to my aunt D and got this match for you as a way to show...no hard feelings about beating me last week." He gave me that insincere grin on his face.

However I tried to be friendly, "Well thank you very much," I said with fake happiness in my voice. The large man kept eying me so I had to ask, "Who is this?"

EC3's smile grew, "Oh this, this man is my new bodyguard, Tyrus. You see, Tyrus, much like myself, just loves the X-Division. So tonight, speaking for my aunt D of course, go out there tonight and just have fun. X-Division your ass off. I want you to give it all you got. Because if you don't," he looked up and smiled at Tyrus before returning his look back to me, "Tyrus, will not be pleased."

I just huffed and puffed before walking away off camera. These two guys just ruined my interview. If he really was the one who got me the match then...guh...did he have something up his sleeve? I wondered. Well, for what it's worth I get to show my abilities with other wrestlers that have a similar style to mine. He wants me to X-Division my ass off? Well hell, that's exactly what I plan to do.

* * *

"The following contest is X-Division Four-Way Action, scheduled for one fall!" Jeremy Borash said in his microphone to the rambunctious TNA fans at the Manhattan Center.

Bah-bah-bah-bah-bah-Booooooooooooom!!!

Zema Ion (better known as DJ Z) came out from behind the curtain to a blast of hard-style rave music. He came out fired up and ready to go like I've seen him in every match. The crazy tall, rainbow hair that should be kept away from ceiling fans, the flashy white tights, and the athletic ability I know he possesses as he made his way into the six-sided ring.

Give me a Shell Yeah!

Rock music came one as "Stone Cold" Shark Boy made his way down the ramp. Many of the TNA fans putting their hands in a judo chop position and bouncing then over their heads, representing the classic shark fin sign. Only now it's with a smoking skull leather vest that smells of whoop-ass and clam juice.

Free your mind, free your mind, free your mind . . .

The original playa from the Himalaya, as he called himself, the X-Division soldier Sonjay Dutt came out and slid comfortably into the ring. He was small and extremely agile, but don't judge him by size, he is tough as nails.

In this world I find...a way to Cross the Line!!!

Heard my new badass theme music. I jumped up and down, pumped, ready to go. I push away the black curtain and walked down the ramp, coming out to the cheers of the crowd and the bright lights of the arena. All the fans jumping up and down ready for some X-Division action. I adjusted my mask to make sure I was strapped in and ready to blow the fans and TNA away with what I can do in the ring.

DING-DING-DING!

Shark Boy and DJ Z started going at it, leaving me to face-off with Sonjay Dutt. He hit me in the face, I tried to retaliate with a swing but it missed, he goes for a spin kick, I duck, I go for a spin kick of my own, he ducks, he goes for another, I duck, but hits a second one at lightning fast speed and it connects right to back of my head with a_SPACK!_

I get backed up into the ropes but quickly spring back to try again, but once again, lightning-fast Sonjay gets his body around me to get me positioned for a hurricanrana. I tried to push him off but he swiftly just kept on me, twirled his body around me like a revolving door and before I knew it his legs wrapped around my head and flipped me over connecting the hurricanrana on me. I flipped hard onto my ass but quickly slid out of the ring. Looked up and Sonjay was already ready for his next move as he grabbed the ropes with both hands and shot himself up to the top rope. I worked up back to my feet and he leaped out at me ready to take me down, I instinctively jumped up and hit him with a dropkick on the outside. We both crash back on the safety mats with him being the more worse for wear as he hit the floor with a SPLAT!

"Ohhhhhh!" the fans yelled.

I got back up and made my way back into the ring. Shark Boy immediately came at me with a clothesline but I got myself under him and flipped him over the top rope to the outside.

I worked to pace myself and catch my breath but it wasn't working as I felt a hand around my boot. My body suddenly hit the mat and Shark Boy pulled me out of the ring. He hit me in the face but I fired back with a few shots of my own. Soon enough it was the two of us just firing blows any which way we could. Sonjay made it back to his feet and tried to get in the mix throwing fists of his own. We're all just going at it tooth and nail that I started to hear the fans cheers growing louder and louder. Shark Boy looked up, Sonjay looked up, I looked up, and saw DJ Z on the top turnbuckle. Before we could get away DJ Z flipped as he did this insane 720-twirl in the air before he came literally spiraling down on top of all of us.

BAM! We all go down in a pile. Thankfully, Shark Boy took most of the impact as all I got was a slight graze from Z's foot.

"TNA! TNA! TNA! TNA! TNA!" the fans started chanting. TNA is the X-Division and hearing those chants got me so damn fired up! I couldn't help myself now! I nipped up off the ground and back up on my feet. I made the climb up the turnbuckles to the top. The fans cheers drew down, wondering what the hell was going to happen next. My three opponents all made it back to their feet. I got ready and jumped up and hit the best damn front flip-and-a-half I could hit, a move I've done a million times before. A somersault flip in the air to come down with a big splash, better known as the 450 splash, as I come down on all my opponents. BAM!

The TNA chants ignite yet again, this time even louder than before. My chest and sternum landed hard on one of the guys shoulders, not quite sure who, before hitting the ground. Ugh! My sternum hurt like hell as I clutched to myself on the safety mat, a pain that I knew would soon go away . . . if I was lucky.

Shark Boy was the first to roll back in the ring. Sonjay got himself up back on the ring apron. He grabbed the ropes and jumped to the top before jumping high in the air to hit a dropkick. Shark Boy quickly got out of the way, letting Sonjay hit belly-first hard on the mat, and the mat of the six-sided ring is stiff. Shark Boy quickly capitalized as he grabbed Sonjay's leg and wrenched it in front of him while keeping Sonjay down in a Boston Crab submission maneuver. The referee got on all fours checking to see if Sonjay was ready to tap out. DJ Z climbed back into the ring and hit Shark Boy with a big kick to his back and he toppled over and hit the mat, but he still kept hold of Sonjay's leg as he tried to twist it. Sonjay quickly climbed on top, grabbed hold of Shark Boy's neck and flipped over onto his side to wrench it.

The fans grew into another rousing wave of cheers as three of the top X-Division stars were all hitting submission moves on each other at the same time. I quickly got back in, I could tell the referee was kinda freaking out not sure what to do. Well I couldn't win if I didn't get in there.

I quickly got down to one knee, grabbed DJ Z's leg and put on the first submission move I could think of, an ankle lock.

"Ahhhh!" DJ Z started yelling in pain. The fans cheers grew even more and they started clapping as well. I was the only one not in a hold. But I started to feel someone grab hold of me,

"Oh hell no," I said immediately. I was not going to get caught too. I quickly let go of the ankle lock, backed myself up into the ropes and saw it was Sonjay who was trying for a hold on me. I went ahead and chopped Sonjay in the chest. He grovels in pain. I thought fast as I got myself perched on the top rope, turned myself around and back-flipped for the biggest moonsault I could muster . . . and I wasn't sure what the hell exactly that I'm going to land on.

BAM! My body landed across DJ Z's body while grazing the two others a little bit as well but most of the impact was on DJ Z. My sternum was already hurting like crazy from the 450-splash, now the pain is getting excruciating with the moonsault.

Meanwhile Sonjay covered DJ Z,

The referee counted, "1 . . . 2 . . ." Z kicked out.

Shark Boy rolled up Sonjay's shoulders to the mat, "1 . . . 2 . . ." he kicked out.

DJ Z sunset flip over Shark Boy and went for a roll-up of his own, "1 . . . 2 . . ." Shark Boy kicked out.

Sonjay jumped up and used his legs to wrap around DJ Z's head and flip him over. Sonjay sat on him with Z's leg hooked, "1 . . . 2 . . ." he kicked out. Action was just fast and furious!

I got myself back to my feet. Took a split second, thought of next move, and just went for it! I ran up to the two guys that were standing, Sonjay and Shark Boy, and hit them both with a modified Crossfire, my running dropkick that took them both down. I got myself up again but DJ Z met me move for move. He jumped up and landed with his knees on my shoulders, my head clenched in between his legs as he leaned over the top rope, sending me over the top to come tumbling out of the ring but I still landed on my feet.

DJ Z stood on the ring apron and it looked like he was about to hit another flying move on me. I beat him to the punch with a kick to his ankle and DJ Z's body landed hard on the ring apron.

"Gah!" DJ Z yelped.

"Ohhhh!" the fans yelled.

"Grrraaaahhh!" I grunted as I dragged DJ Z by his rainbow hair off the ring and threw him over the steel guardrail into the crowd. This is just pure insanity that I absolutely love it! The fans nearby were going crazy. It was addicting and I couldn't help but get swept up in the excitement. I climbed over the guardrail into the people and hit him in the head a couple times. He came back with a punch and a knee to my already hurting sternum. I connect with a few uppercuts, but DJ Z is a lot tougher than he looked, rainbow hair and all.

Suddenly all the fans started standing up and I started to hear chairs moving around and sliding around me. I held my sternum in pain until we both looked up at the ring. Sonjay Dutt was on the top rope and staring right at us.

"He's not gonna do this, he can't do this," I openly said to DJ Z . . . then he jumped.

"Ohhhhh!" The fans yelled as Sonjay jumped off the top rope, out into the fans as he crash-landed right into the two of us. It knocked the hell out of me. My shoulder and head hit the back of a steel chair as we all smacked the concrete floor.

My head has started to ring, all I could hear were the fans freakishly loud chants of, "Holy Shit! Holy Shit! Holy Shit!"

I rolled over on my stomach as we all tried to get up, "Oh Gawd," I muttered under my breath. I delivered quick chops to both Sonjay and DJ Z. They started their own slug-fest between each other as I crawled back over the guardrail and gingerly rolled back into the ring.

CHOP! Shark Boy hit me in the chest with a hard knife edge chop of his own.

I reared back and CHOP!

He hit a chop, I hit one, he hits one, I hit one . . .

Ladies and Gentlemen . . . E . . . C . . . 3

All of a sudden music started blasting throughout the Manhattan Center. I looked at the entrance way as Ethan Carter the Third came down the ramp with his new bodyguard Tyrus following behind. Guh!What the hell were they doing out here doing my match?!

I quickly kicked Shark Boy in the chest. Grabbed his arm and threw it over my shoulder before picking him up and slamming him back down with a snap-suplex.

I got up and looked at EC3, he was just smiling away. I watched him smile and whisper into Tyrus' ear.

"What are you doing out here?! Get out of here!" I shouted at them. EC3 put his hands up defensively, acting like this is normal and that I'm angry for no good reason. "First my interview and now my match?!"

Suddenly I felt an arm crawl under my leg. Shark Boy pulled me up in a roll-up with my shoulders down on the mat. The referee counted, "1 . . 2 . . ." I did everything I could to kick out, I will not be distracted for a roll-up!

I ignored the pain and sprang back up to my feet to see if EC3 or his friend got into the ring. Nope, they were still just standing there watching the action. I just did my best to ignore them. I readjusted my focus back to Shark Boy with a few good shots to his face. They all connected over and over again and I even got in another chop to his chest for good measure. Soon enough he was backed into a turnbuckle in perfect position for the Crossfire dropkick.

I backed up into corner across from him, took a deep breath as I sprint! I sprinted across the ring and jump up to hit the dropkick on target but Shark Boy swiftly got out of the way. I drop-kicked nothing but turnbuckle and unfortunately landed once again on the back of my already hurting head and shoulder, which was still stinging from the chair.

"Ohhhhh!" the fans yell.

I pulled myself back up as I tried to regain my bearings but before I knew what hit me Shark Boy kicked me in my sternum before dropping me with a huge jawbreaker move he called the "Chummer", once again knocking the hell out of me, this time for the kill.

I laid on the mat and he covered me, I could hear the referee count and I tried to kick out again but with all the pain in my chest, neck and my head but all I could get was my foot to flicker as the referee counted, "1 . . . 2 . . . 3!"

DING-DING-DING!

Give Me a Shell Yeah!

Shark Boy's rock music played and the fans all stood up and cheered and clapped, I'm sure for all of our efforts, but it sure wasn't for me winning. I rolled over hunched in pain and grabbed my jaw to make sure it wasn't knocked out of place. I couldn't sit up so I got on my hands and knees but eventually got back to my feet. EC3 and Tyrus looked at me the entire time, only now EC3 was hunched over in exaggerated laughter while the big, creepy Tyrus had a smile across his face.

This was a big match for me, and while I'm sure I did enough to continue impressing the company, but there's only money and glory in the win. Wins lead to the title shots, the main events, and the championships. I can't buy groceries on "impressing" people. I want to give the fans all that I have but I also want to win. That's not going to happen with EC3 and Tyrus distracting me. I don't know for sure if I would have walked out with the W but I guarantee those two showing up definitely didn't help. If they want to ruin my matches and interrupt my interviews then we have a problem on our hands. A problem I was going to have to solve all on my own.
