Chap.4

The room was small, dark, and surprisingly cozy. It was circular, with bare stone walls, floor, and ceiling, and a small entrance tunnel leading to the outside. I stood up.

Looking down, I saw two black paws. My paws. My felt tears welling up into my eyes, but I held them back. I looked at my sides, only to see the black body of a wolf where my human body should have been, my tail drooping and my whole body shaking.

"Understand, Victor, that you are not the only one who is frightened by this change. All of us are."

I turned around slowly to face this man. Before me sat CloudedPlain, a brown furred male with patches of creamy white fur in splotches all across his sides. He was blind, but his knowledge of everything's location made that impossible to believe. He was staring back at me with those cold, unseeing, yet all-knowing eyes, and I felt powerless.

"Then why do you keep me here? Just kill me so that you can all go back to your lives!"

He tilted his head to the side and his expression turned to one of sadistic amusement.

"I would gladly put you out of your misery, but I owe you no kindness. Besides, maybe your behaving like a pathetic bitch will show us why we should just get rid of you."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me."

I felt angry, but I knew retaliation would only result in worse consequences than the ones I would already be facing.

"I understand that you are... upset. Have you considered what our Alpha has asked you?"

"No."

"Well I urge you to do so," he growled, "It might be the only way you survive. Come, Alpha wishes to speak to you."

"How the hell could you know that?"

He chuckled, whispering, "Wouldn't you like to know?"

He walked outside, and I followed.

Chap.5

It was night, and I could only see by moonlight. The hillside was grassy. I knew the other dens where at the bottom, and the one I had just come out of was halfway up.

A loud screeching filled my ears, and I collapsed, holding back screams.

"Victor! Ignore your senses! Listen to me and me alone!"

His voice added to the screeching, and I tried to ignore the noise, but I couldn't, it just kept getting louder.

After a few moments I passed out.

Upon awakening, I found myself in small cave again, roughly the same size and shape of the other, and a fire was burning in the center of the room. Laying on my side, I stared at it. It was blue.

"Finally, you awaken."

The voice of the Alpha came from the fire, reverberating off the walls.

"You were unconscious for an entire day. Because of that, we didn't need to waste food on you. Good job."

"Is that a joke?"

"Depends. Was it funny?"

"No."

"Then yes."

I almost smiled. I used to say that.

"Why did you want to see me?"

"Because I have an offer for you, a very important offer."

"What do you want?"

"I understand you were a human scientist before the accident a week ago. What research were you working on?"

"I already told you."

"Of course, it slipped my mind. Tell me, has your memory of that day improved?"

"No. I have odd dreams though."

"Of what, exactly?"

"The lab, before... whatever happened."

"So you still aren't sure what happened?"

"No."
