[BEGIN LOG]

Unbelievable...I can't believe I fell for that. I was so worried about the fate of those humans from the last log I dug up that I didn't stop to realize that, had they not survived, the person writing it wouldn't have been able to make the log to begin with. Well...silly me. Heh... ... ... ... Hmm...anyway, I was able to find the second part of that log that explains the end result of their journey. I'm curious to see what happens next as a result of this development.

SUBJECT: New Earth

I awoke, slowly opening my eyes to a brightness that flooded my vision. Soon after, the sounds of rustling wind and voices filled my head. My mind swam in confusion for a moment as I had now become conscious again in the world. But, what world was this? I suddenly began to recall the last moments before I blacked out--how we all gathered awaiting our fate to determine if we would make the journey light years away or perish. I entertained the idea I could be dead and perhaps living out the final moments of what neurological signals my brain could muster. This was quickly dismissed as my head turned to one side, my gaze now parallel with the ground that I realized my back laid against. A bit of resistance gave as I remembered the suit I was still in. Then, my vision came into clear view as I witnessed a few of my comrades were equally struggling to make out their surroundings. Some were still on the ground writhing around in confusion. Some were already standing up and gazing about in wonder as to the world we have now apparently ventured successfully to. I took the in sights as well, there were bits of what appeared to be snow falling in this region. It was not heavy as the ground visibly bore familiar plant life, although alien in its own right. This snow substance had formed light dustings on the plants and what appeared to be grass as well.

I struggled slowly to my feet, grunting out as my body felt heavier than I remember. Perhaps it was the fatigue from the trip or the suit I was wearing. Although, the weight it adds should not be this extensive. I then realized there was a chance that gravity here was a bit more emphasized than it was on Earth. I took a moment to gaze around as I now stood tall to view this strange planet we had managed to venture to. It seemed so reminiscent of Earth with the general look of plants and landscape, but different somehow. Though, this difference was more of a feeling than just the fact of how some things looked. Maybe it was the travel that still had my head feeling funny. I guess I would know in time. As I turned my head to get a good idea of my surroundings, I realized this location must be starting to get into its winter months. I couldn't see too far with the snow falling, perhaps a quarter mile at best. Still, it gave me a moment to notice were were in the midst of a field. In the distance, several trees and plant life acted as natural borders to the field with a couple partings here and there that would allow us to avoid the more forested areas should we desire. For now, scouting out the surrounding area and setting up camp here seemed ideal.

Caution is no doubt a high priority in a foreign land, but this was the first time any of us would have visited an entirely new planet. Anything could be expected. We could only hope the weapons and gear we brought would help us survive whatever may lie out there. If there was anything, hopefully it's not worse than the war we fled from.

After much searching and surveying we did not find any life of significant intelligence. Either it simply does not exist here or was located elsewhere. Most of the creatures we came across seemed harmless or disregarded us. This was definitely fortunate. Interestingly, some of the creatures we saw ranged from completely new and unseen before to familiar spin-offs of ones we've seen on Earth. The same could be said for the plant life as I've observed earlier. During this time, we were able to determine there were no harmful airborne microbes and that oxygen levels here were acceptable for us. One person volunteered to subject himself to the elements by taking his helmet off. He was surprised at the welcome scent of the natural aromas from the area. It was all so pristine and pure compared to what one was used to back on Earth.

Over time, the rest of us felt comfortable enough to remove our helmets and take in the new air this planet had to offer. It was simply uplifting and immediately filled me with energy. It was like taking a first breath, opening my eyes to the sheer beauty of this place. I could only imagine how even more intense and revitalizing it would be had we come here during the warmer periods. Perhaps we could trek to other parts of the planet to find such regions in the future. But, for now, we worked to set up camp and establish a central location for ourselves to call home. In total, there were 34 of us, myself included. We all managed to create a main camp within a few hours. Sentries were set up to keep watch and defend us from any bold creatures, lamps were set into key places to prepare for the night.

From that day forward would be the start of a new human era, one that finally brought us outside of our own solar system. That was about a year ago now. Today, we have constructed homes, places of work, areas of entertainment. Our colony has flourished successfully. There were some hard times as we adapted to this new home, but overall we have done well here. Unfortunately, during this time, we had yet to see the events unfolding on Earth. We could only imagine things were going awry. We were at a stable point that we could construct another teleportation beam from here to send probes through and relay information back to us. We all had mixed feelings about it for obvious reasons. As much as we wanted to know the outcome thus far, we didn't want to see how bad it was. Nonetheless, that day would happen upon us soon.
