Handlo is a place of peace for it's anthropomorphic population. Everything is tranquil and safe. This is a story of George, a young, teen, dog anthro, trying to find love amongst his community. However, it is not as easy as he thinks, with mishap and embarrassment, along with plenty of fun, it is a long road ahead of him to reach his goals in life.

Island of Handlo - Introduction

Dawn breaks over the tropical island of Handlo, the blazing sun rises over the horizon bathing the promenade in a warm orange glow. From the ocean comes a cooling breeze, stopping the island from roasting. If it weren't for this cool sea breeze Handlo would be completely uninhabitable. Not only does the sea air cool the island, it delivers a salty, seaside smell to the island, making everywhere feel like the beach. The smell has been on the island so long, you can begin to taste the salt. Kingshaven, the island's only town is a quaint place with small local shops, small local banks and everything else; local. Handlo has a small airstrip of which only small planes can land and takeoff again, which means that there aren't many tourists on the island, no need for big business. Everything in Handlo is peaceful, the people; mainly comprised of fox-human and dog-human anthros, but has other animal-human hybrids as well. Including, but not limited to, horses, wolfs, the odd bear and a few cats.

Since anthropomorphic creature's existence was proved, not everyone has taken to them kindly, many people prejudicing and discriminating them because of who/what they are. On Handlo there is no such thing. No humans, no contact with the outside world, a separate infrastructure and a separate Internet network. The Handlo culture was like no western civilisation, it was different. There were no prejudices, no war, no thievery and no evil. Without any of the citizens knowing, there were people in the world who idolise their culture and community. Many of these people try to contact the island, or travel there, but their letters are burned or they are hastily turned away by military presence. The only western presence was the air mail delivery pilot and he was only ever on the island once every month for just under an hour.

Many generations have grown up here, gone through it's schools, found love, had children of their own and, eventually, die. On this island everybody has fun, yet everybody works hard to succeed. Maybe that is why the western people hate anthros? Because they spend time being happy and surrounded with companions, yet achieve everything they want to achieve. Everything is peaceful on this island of tranquility. It always has been and always will be a place of rest for it's people.
