Chapter 5: A Royal Occasion

The fight had barely begun and Mark was down several times already This guy can really pack a punch. But that's about all he can do.

"He is not faring well, sister. " Tanya said with concern, seeing as Mark was being tossed around the arena.

"Patience, Tanya. " Regina, on the other hand, was perfectly calm. She believed in Mark with all her heart "In order to win, he must first know the enemy. " Mark dodged a swipe from Vasilis's tail "Find his strengths. " another big fist barely scraped his nose "And his weaknesses. " as Vasilis's previous fist was still swinging, Mark quickly did a fast spin-kick over it to the Nidoking's head "That's how he defeated me. " Vasilis stumbled back and snarled back at Mark who was in a low fighting stance "And that is how he will defeat Vasilis. " Mark taunted Vasilis to come and fight him.

"I hope you are right, Regina. Otherwise we are going to be defiled by that brute. " the royal sisters didn't like the sound of that. Meanwhile on the battlefield, Mark was ready to take down Vasilis.

"Getting tired yet? " Mark could see Vasilis was beginning to lose his, already slow, speed and stamina He'll be down soon. Aww yeah! Now you're back? After I did all the work? "However dishonorable that may be-" Vasilis frowned immediately "-there is nothing in the rules against using berries. Continue! "

"You coward! How dare you use- " Tanya was screaming at the top of her lungs but was interrupted by Regina's even louder yell.

"SILENCE! " the arena went quiet quickly at the sound of the queens angry voice "Vasilis has not broken the rules! Earthquake and Rock Smash are physical moves, therefore, they are allowed! "

"And you didn't mention this why? " Mark was barely standing on his feet Well, she did say special moves weren't allowed. This one's on you. Now that Mark thought about it, The Voice was right How could I have been so stupid? I'm really out of my game. The rules are easily bended without getting them broken. It's basic fight knowledge. "You're a tough one I'll give you that. " Vasilis raised his fist and it began to glow "But even you can't stand up after a Giga Impact! " Vasilis charged Mark with his attack ready. Just before the attack connected, Mark side-stepped, grabbed Vasilis's head and crashed it into the wall. Combined with Giga Impact, the damage dealt was huge. Vasilis ended up destroying the wall with the force of the impact and remained buried under the rubble. Mark quickly moved away from Vasilis to gather his strength. His move was accompanied by a thunderous applause from the crowd which gave a boost to his confidence Continue like this for a while and we'll be getting pussy in no time!

"GgggrrrRAAAAAAAH!!! " Vasilis came bursting out of the rubble and began viciously attacking Mark. While he managed to dodge some of the swings, sacrifices had to be made. "Dropped something? " Vasilis quickly patted his pockets and found his remaining four berries missing. That made him even more mad.

"I'll kill you! " the Nidoking roared in rage and charged Mark like an oncoming train. Mark used Vasilis's rage so he easily dodged his punches. Too easily. Just as Mark was about to counter, the Nidoking lowered his head enough for Mark to scratch his right forearm on it's horn. Just as he touched it, searing pain went through his arm and lost hold on the berries he stole.

"AAAAAAARGH!!! " Mark fell to his knees from the pain and Vasilis stood over his with a satisfied grin.

"Poison Point. Really useful against morphs. " he grabbed Mark by the hair and raised him up "Even more so against humans. " Vasilis then punched Mark directly in the face, sending him flying across the arena, leaving a few strands of hair in Vasilis hand. The force broke Mark's nose and he remaind lying on the ground. Vasilis shook of the hair left behind in his hand and walked towards Mark "I don't know why Regina has chosen you. " he raised him by the head again "You are weak! " then smashed his head into the ground. Vasilis walked behind Mark and grabbed one of his legs "Nothing but a ragdoll for me to toss around. " to prove his point, Vasilis tossed Mark through the air and the latter landed with a painful grunt. The Nidoking began approaching Mark again and once he reached him, he crouched before him "Soon this kingdom, and Regina, will be mine. " Mark was glaring at him but still unable to do anything "I'm gonna' have some fun with those sisters tonight. " Vasilis had a disturbingly lustful grin on his face "I will rape them all night while your severed head watches from a pike! " then he began laughing like a maniac. Even Regina and Tanya felt chills down their spines. If Vasilis wins he has the right to do as he pleases.

"Sister we have to do something! " Tanya pleaded but Regina didn't respond "Regina! "

"WE CAN'T! " the queen screamed in desperation "We can't interfere! The battle has to run it's course. " Regina then looked at Mark who was getting beaten into the ground and the poison spreading through his right arm, making it darker and darker while rendering it useless "For the better or for worse. "

"Screw the rules! " Tanya was about to jump over the balcony but Regina used her large tail to smack her sister back into place.

"We'll lose everything if you interfere now! " the queen growled at her sister who shrunk back in fear "I have faith in Mark and so should you! " with that, Regina continued watching the battle leaving Tanya mad with rage.

"Yes, my Queen! " Tanya spat the words out and left the balcony. Regina felt that remark hit her harder than any punch she ever received combined. Tanya never called her queen except when they were in company of others due to formality. But there was nothing she could do now. Her duties as queen came first. The future of her people was at stake right now and she couldn't risk Vasilis winning because they broke the rules "Please... " a small tear escaped her "Please Arceus, let him win. "

While all this was happening, Mark had a really hard time staying conscious I can't go on much further. You have to! We can't let him win! He's just too strong. I can barely keep my eyes open. "STOP THE BATTLE! " Regina screamed over the crowd and they, as always, went quiet in an instant "Vasilis is disqualified! " the crowd was shocked to say the least as no one knew why he was being disqualified. Not that they minded though. Vasilis's followers were quite angry on the other hand.

"WHAT? " Vasilis roared at the queen in anger "I didn't break any rule! "

"SILENCE! " Regina roared back and Vasilis actually flinched a little "You are disqualified for using Focus Blast! " now the crowd went wild with booing.

"That's a lie! " Vasilis countered.

"I have to give you credit though... " Vasilis turned towards Mark who was on the verge of blacking out "It takes a lot of practice to use Focus Blast that focused into a small area. " Mark was hoping this'll be over soon "You did quite a number on me... He-he..." he fell to his knees "But it's my fault for not noticing it earlier... " his right arm was black from the tips of his fingers to his shoulder slowly creeping towards his heart "You probably didn't use it on Regina since she'd notice it right away... " Mark was ready for a long rest by now but it still wasn't over.

"Vasilis! " the Nidoking turned towards the queen "You have shown dishonor in battle and have therefore been disqualified! You and your companions will leave peacefully and never return! " Regina's followers were suspiciously eyeing the members of Vasilis's clan should they make a dangerous move. Vasilis remained quiet but then began laughing quietly, the laughter growing ever louder.

"It doesn't matter anymore! " Regina looked confused "The entire Kanto region will be under my master's command! " Vasilis turned towards Mark, his fist glowing with the familiar glow of the Hyper Beam.

"SEIZE THEM! " Regina's troops had their spears on the throats of the intruders in a flash ad Regina was jumping over the balcony to save Mark.

"You're too late! " Vasilis knew Regina wouldn't make it in time and the Hyper Beam would turn Mark to ashes.

"Just to make this clear, this one is personal! " Vasilis would fire the beam any second now but Mark was defiant till' the end. He raised his middle finger to Vasilis.

"This one as well... " his arm fell down and he waited for the final blast. This was not how he imagined he would die. True, this was probably the best scenario since the others were him being tortured to death after being captured on a mission. But his life has just gotten good. His girls loved him. He was going back to Hoenn to claim the title of champion and even meet new people and morphs. Maybe find new love along the way. But now it's over. Mark remembered going in and out of consciousness for a while. He heard many voices during this time but couldn't recognize them.

"I feel great. " once he realized how he sounded he began to laugh but immediately stopped once he felt his ribs hurt.

"Don't move. " Nina gently placed her palm on his chest to calm him "You need all the rest you can get. Once you've recovered we'll continue towards Celadon. "

"And don't worry about us. " Rei felt like Mark was going to ask where will they be while he's recovering "Regina- " the Blaziken shot a glare at the queen who, for the lack of a better word, looked miserable "-offered us to stay with her. "

"He is. " Nina answered and Mark felt her grip tighten on his arm. He held in the pain from the grip "Most of his body is burnt though. He'll remember us for a long time. "

"If the guards didn't stop us we might've even broken a bone or two. " Rei was disappointed that didn't happen. As far as she was concerned, she wanted to use Overheat and burn the arena to the ground along with Vasilis.

"You did great... " Mark was proud of the two for not crossing the line.

"Um... " Rei was squirming in her seat "There's... Something else. " Mark wondered what could have happened "Your, umm... Tattoo is gone. " Mark frowned and looked at his left arm and saw the Rayquaza tattoo was still there. Switching his view to his poisoned right arm he slowly began removing the bandages. He didn't remove them all the way, just enough to see that it was indeed gone.

"How? " he didn't sound angry nor upset, just, really confused.

"When our healers were removing the poison from your body. " everyone looked at Regina who began explaining "The antidote they used probably recognized the ink as part of the toxin and removed it from your body. " Regina slowly approached him and caressed his right shoulder "But a part did remain. "

"The Three Horns of Odin. " Regina nodded with a smile "That's okay. That was probably my favorite part of the entire thing. "

"You're not mad? We know it meant a lot to you. " Rei knew that the Nordic and Celtic tattoo on his entire right arm was in memory of his parents.

"Now rest. You will need your strength tomorrow. " Regina gave him another kiss on the forehead and followed the girls out.

"Another fight? " Mark asked but already had an idea what she was talking about. Her lustful look confirmed his thoughts.

"You could say that. " and then she closed the door behind her.

" the grunt gulped "Not only did you not manage to steal a small Meowth from an even smaller girl, you managed to lose your Raticate and inform the world that Team Rocket still existed. "
