Written short hand in a moment of depression

Please move along

Faces, I see hundreds of them I see nearly everyday Sometimes we know them but often we don't But one in particular I can't stand to see The strange one in the mirror looking back at me

An ever-present semi frown is set against the backdrop of sunken mistrusting eyes Signs of fatigue scattered all over What made them this way I wish I could make their day

Theirs is the face who longs to smile When with their friends they are united But this face looking back at me They have no near friends to share their tea

I wish I were my friends Devoid of my depression as they are With friends all around Their happiness around I wish I were my friends That can be alone, days on end That can create with imagination running free

A joyous sight for all to see But this face looking back at me can only wish They wish they weren't themselves Something to put this to an end The desire to be a cared for friend
