#15 of The Beginning

Hey guys, I decided to make some character development scenes and explain some backstory so I don't have to do that in the plot-centered chapters anymore. Like well.. I don't cohere to the flasbacks during fighting, but there will be some for extra effect, just not heavy ones. So I'm putting this all in here. The next chapter will be coming underway, don't worry! I'm happy it didn't take me a month to finish this chapter hahaha.

-- [KENKO INC. 1:27 PM, Saturday, May 12, 225th Floor, Top Floor Lobby] --

The two double doors opened as a figure wearing a white trenchcoat emerged from the lobby. The room's atmosphere was quite tense, seeing as the chief of police had found out about another sibling and this time, it came from her mother. But before they were able to speak of such matters, they were interrupted by a certain someone in the position of authority. The white haired male stepped inside the room as he seemed uninjured from the scuffle that happened earlier. Raiji was completely flabbergasted that he had made such a quick recovery.

"Meki, you're awake." Raiji said, reeling a bit from his injuries. He seemed to show nonchalancy, unlike earlier. "You should rest, it's going to be hard for the people if their governor is not in full shape."

"I appreciate the sympathies, but I am however, uninjured. I was never attacked in that little quarrel." Kashikoi explained as he rubbed his fingers together, the sound of wool colliding was heard from his fingertips.

"I beg your pardon, Kashikoi-sama?" Fumiko chimed in, a bit curious as to what he was saying. She clearly saw the governor knocked out in that room.

"As such, I thought ahead that the attack would most likely happen. So I procured a mirage to meet with you all, and so I can observe from a distance. I regret that I did not come personally." Kashikoi explained, shaking his head a bit.

"So, you're saying that your presence there was..?" But before Jason could finish his sentence, the governor already swiftly gave his answer.

"Yes, nothing but a little parlor trick of mine. I could not afford to go myself, as I had an intricate meeting to attend to. And my true presence there would mean that I have to fight inside that airship. That is a risk, that I cannot afford to do. But it's surprising that they found my weak point. That's odd." Kashikoi said, rubbing his lower back. "This was caused in an incident. I tried to save one of my students inside the fire. Debris fell, and I wasn't able to reach him. He was a very aspiring individual."

Raiki then stood up and stretched his body a bit as he plopped back down to his seat. Something that was considered quite rude, especially in front of a distinguished public figure before him. Even though he still kept up with the fact that he was indeed someone to be respected, it was clear that Raiki did not like the governor at all. Raiki then gazed out the window, as everyone kept staring at him and his odd gestures.

"...I bet he was." the male commented as he paid the governor no eye contact.

Kashikoi then gazed at the boy who was sulking silently in the corner, he could feel the pain resonating from the male. He knew what caused this pain, although he was conflicted whether he would choose to not reveal it at the moment.

"Kizu-kun, I know it must be painful to reminisce about the death of a friend.. but.." Kashikoi tried to comfort as he was only greeted with two golden eyes glaring at him.

"If you'd only let me in there, I could've saved him!" Raiki roared loudly as he shook the foundations of the building, the lights flickering on and off.

"Raiki!" Raiji said as he counterbalanced the electricity coursing from the male's body with his own regular lightning. It was very volatile, and every second the male tries to control it, it had been hurting some parts of his body. With his father's intervention, Raiki then calmed down as the lightning enveloping him disappeared. The teenage male huffed an angry sigh as he walked out into the roofdeck where the blimp was being repaired.

"I'm going to go and get some air." the male commented before leaving the group.

Kashikoi then gazed at the ground, seeming very concerned about the event that had happened all those years ago. But only in a matter of seconds did he regain his elegant composure. "I.. I'll just inform you all when I will hold the next meeting. Next time, on more.. secure matters. Raiji, I expect you to meet with me later at my office. There is a sensitive matter I must discuss." With a swift turn of his white trenchcoat, the governor turned and left, his blue-coated bodyguards following suit.

-- [KENKO INC. 1:27 PM, Saturday, May 12, 225th Floor, Blimp Docking Area] --

Gazing out on the blue sky, observing the white clouds before him. The view was breath-taking, and the high altitude breeze was cold and relaxing. The wind hit Raiki's face softly and gently, like a mother's kiss. The male closed his eyes, hoping to forget what had been all those years ago. Raiki kicked the metal beneath him as he angrily slammed his forearms onto the metal railing onto the balcony. With grasping fingers clawing onto his face, Raiki released his grip as he gave out a frustrated sigh.

The door opened behind him as a peeking eye came into view. A blue iris gazed at the male who was releasing pent up emotion. A foot slowly made its way outside as it made a clanking sound onto the metal it touched. Raiki could already feel the vibrations in the ground through the electricity coursing into his veins.

"You here to laugh at my outburst? Here for some payback?" the male said nonchalantly as his saddened gaze only gaped at the the cyan drapery before him.

"..No. I just.." Jason spoke out in a rather nervous tone. "I just came to.. check up on you."

"We've only known each other for 2 weeks now, usuratonkachi. Don't think you're in the position to be doting on me." Raiki scoffed out as this elected two rolling eyes from Jason.

"Is that it, Mr. Tough Guy? Mr. 'I Like Bottling Up My Emotions'?" Jason retorted in a rather irritated and sarcastic manner. Although, this elected no response from the male. "By the way.."

Raiki could only feel a piece of rubbery clothing thrown on his back. Feather-like things tickled the base of his neck; recognizing the fabric, he took it and gazed upon it. It was his jacket. He had only realized that he purposely lent it to the male.

"Thanks, by the way. For the other night. Although, I could've kept myself warm, y'know." Jason said, a little grin plastered on his face. Without a word, Raiki placed his jacket back on, shaking his head in irritation as his brows creased into a glare. Jason could feel the tense aura emanating from the teen, he could tell that he was a bit frustrated still. He walked towards the lackluster teen as he took a place beside him on the metallic balcony.

"The sky reminds me of more peaceful days back in Avalon. I would go into the fields everyday and just stare at it for hours. Everything was so peaceful, and I was one with the nature around me. The war back then, and all the terrible events that happened to me seemed so fleeting. The simplest things in life truly are free, don't you think?" Jason then tilted his head as he smiled at the emotional male.

Raiki's eyes could only light up at the sight of those white rows of teeth, that enthusiastic smile; one that never surrendered to the evil holds reality can bring. The feline's mouth was agape at those words; his look could equate to a cat being fascinated by a ball of yarn. Slowly, blood started to rush on the male's face as there was some strong metaphor hidden in those words. It sounded like.. sounded like him.

"That's just some crazy talk so you can ignore everything around you." Raiki then pulled back his amazed look as he dragged the topic down with more of his depression.

"Something's bothering you, isn't there? You know you can't lie to someone of my ability." Jason said, a concerned look forming on his face. Raiki could only keep silent, as his lies and concealment were of no use to him here, but inside his bottled up feelings were getting out of hand. It was hard.. hearing the things that he needed to hear, but didn't want to. Raiki was in a pure state of denial. "It's hard, I know.. it might be sting a little.. but sometimes we have to let it go-"

"Yurusai." (Shut up.) Raiki quickly and abruptly interrupted as his electric current, rose into various heights. Jason's heartbeat only rose faster as he knew that Raiki was becoming volatile again.

"Raiki.. I.. I understand you.. please.. let me..--"

"YURUSAI! SHUT UP!" Raiki exploded, eyes becoming golden from the former amber. Lightning rose from the metal beneath them, creating a powerful ground. Jason could feel the power and volatility from where he stood, hairs on the back of his neck stood still at the display of immense power. But he was ready, if ever he'd be assaulted. Raiki's lightning then calmed down slowly, as the sparks disappeared one by one and the strands of his hair were slowly relaxing. "You think you can come here like you're an old friend? Like you've been there for me through thick and thin?! Well, I have had enough of people saying they'll be there for me, and yet, I am always a tool to be used!"

"What about Guren?! Isn't she there for you?!" Jason retorted back as he shouted with the same intensity.

"She's an exception. She's actually been there for me!" Raiki growled as the lightning sparks continued to rise; Jason was angering him more and more. "But you?" Raiki then took a step closer and asserted a dominant position. The male stomped at the metallic floor as shrieks of lightning was all around the boy. Jason took a step back as he was frightened at the monstrous sight. "You think you can come here, counsel me, know what's been going on in my life?! You think you can say things because I look like I need help, but you don't know a single thing about me! So, drop the good boy act and leave me alone!"

"Maybe I am doing this out of pity!" Jason cried out, his eyes glaring in the intensity Raiki had as he took a step forward, to counter the dominant position the other was in. Raiki was slightly shocked at this resistance, he slowly took a step backwards, a bit frightened. "But at least I care enough, more so for a stranger like you! Yeah, that's right, I don't know you. I don't know a single fucking thing about you! But here I am, swallowing my pride, wanting to understand you! You never gave me the chance!"

Words could not harm anyone physically. But Raiki felt as if there was a train in front of him and had hit him where it had hurt. Those words were true; he didn't give Jason one opportunity to actually mend his wounds. Truly, he had wanted people to cure him from the loneliness and pain he had been carrying around. He was shunned as a child, and became popular as a young teenager. But he couldn't let go of the past. He held his grudge for many years. And these events were true.. but he couldn't accept them. Raiki gritted his teeth in anger as a tear slowly formed under his right eye as he slowly sobbed whilst still glaring at the male.

"If you're so inclined and angry, and hurt and sad.." Jason then spread both his arms out, still glaring at the male. "Take it out on me then!"

Gritted teeth and and anger suddenly was replaced by a surprised and shocked look. The male stopped sobbing and only gazed upon the determination that was facing before him. Lightning sparks ceased to rise, and the air and atmosphere was overshadowed with the confidence and determination of the boy before him. Raiki's intimidation was completely wiped out.

"Let me prove to you that I'll be here for you, go on! Hit me!" Jason then tilted his face to the side as his right eye closed, preparing for an impact. Raiki could only gaze upon what was happening. He had no rebuttal, no reply to this action. He was completely awestruck and clueless. Just then, the doors opened slowly as a baritone voice echoed from the inside of the room.

"That's enough, you two." the voice said, as a grown man emerged from the doors. It was Raiji who had stopped this fight. "Raiki.." a fatherly gaze of concern looked upon his son. Raiki could only put his forearm onto his eyes as he started to sob once more. Knowing that he could not take anymore emotional pressure, Raiki jumped off the dock, falling down 200 stories high.

"R-Raiki..!" Jason exclaimed as he chased after where had jumped. "Raiki!!"

"Don't worry, Jason-kun. Raiki has some tricks up his sleeve, he normally does that when he wants actual alone time." Raiji chuckled as he pats the boy on his back.

"What're you talking about?! Your own son just jumped two hundred stories high!" Jason exclaimed, not believing the nonchalant notion of Raiji.

"We Kizus have pioneered a technique that allows us to manipulate lightning in ambiguous forms, shapes and sizes. We can even create weapons out of just lightning. We are the only family who can do that, and seemingly the only specie of Luxray who knows how. That includes becoming lightning ourselves. The art of our combat prowess is something the line of Kizus were fond of; perfecting our power was key. And what more to be masterful than becoming our own element?"

"So.. what're you trying to say here.. exactly?" the confused teen said tilting his head.

"Long story short, we can turn into lightning. That means we travel like lightning. A fall like that would never be fatal, as long as we're conscious." Raiji said, chuckling as he gave the boy a hard pat on the back. The male was pushed front as it slightly knocked the wind out of him.

"Th-That's a relief.. then.." he managed to cough out. "W-Was he always like this?"

"Raiki was.. feared. When he was born, he managed to actually cut off the electricity lines in the hospital.. you could imagine how much I had to pay for that." Raiji chuckled as he gazed out into the sky, "But Raiki was a misunderstood boy.. his volatility made him unable to make friends. And everything he touched at that time would've gotten electrocuted, that includes the children. He once injured someone with his touch, and the child's parents called him names like freak, outcast, oni.. that means demon in Japanese. And the kids made a name for him, they called him the lightning demon."

"...That's.. that's tough." Jason said, gazing at the ground as he sighed in pity.

"We'd always catch him running back home, crying. And because of him being shunned, he got into fights pretty quickly. And more people became afraid of him. More so that even Kashikoi told me to put Raiki on a leash. And I had to accompany him wherever he went. Raiki became a threat to the city, since his volatile anger led him to causing blackouts at one part of the city. He was feared." Raiji said, shaking his head, his eyelids dropping in guilt. "I guess I'm one to blame for that. I never thought that it would cause such a dilemma."

"..But Raiki seems.. liked within the community now. I see that he gets praise from everyone at school." the teen said, seeming curious as to why Raiki had that childhood, yet was popular in his adolescent years.

"Well.. it was that fateful day when we attended a formal party celebrating the twenty-five years of Kenko Inc. Yoshiyuki, Guren's father invited us as close friends. I remember that day.. it was when Raiki finally got his first friend. And I was so happy. Raiki had a guitar recital that day to perform for the guests.. and he got very nervous that his power immensely rose. His finger tips sparked and he destroyed the guitar, he got so scared that he ran out of the ball room. Then I tried to chase after him but there was this little girl that beat me to him. I saw that little girl give Raiki something, it was a pair of leather gloves. Raiki put them on and he was given this tiny ukulele by this little girl and she asked him if he could try again." Raiji said, smiling as he reminisced about old memories.

".. Mm.." Jason said as he could make out that the girl was indeed the lush-haired lady he knew.

"Then Yoshi came up to me and asked where his daughter went. So, I assumed that this girl was Guren, Yoshiyuki's daughter. I had never seen her before, only knew her name. Raiki gave the best performance that day, and everyone cheered for him. I was ecstatic. I had never seen Raiki smile so brightly, even brighter than the lightning he emitted when he felt joy. But.. since his power was connected to emotion, he passed out after hearing the applause. I smiled as I.. took him off the stage and told everyone that he seemed to be sleepy, since it was really beyond his bedtime. And, I felt like Raiki had found a friend. After that, it was time to take Raiki and enroll him into Tokugawa.. and his title, the Lightning Demon was still at large at that time. But I was lucky that Guren was there to stand up for him." Raiji chuckled once more.

"And.. since he was friends with Guren.." Jason thought of, but just hypothesized, so he let Raiji confirm his thoughts.

"That's right. Being friends with a popular child like Guren really boosted his confidence and slowly, everyone was slowly accepting him. Although, he wasn't the forgiving type. He held a grudge. He didn't make friends, but he was intelligent, athletic even. He has all the girls swooning for him at school, but he didn't care. All he cared about was the people who stood by him. That's why he ignores all the people who've praised him. And you can understand why he has trust issues." the old male said as he gazed into Jason's visage. "I'm glad Raiki's found someone like you, I feel like he's being steered into the right path."

"Well, I must be going now. It's getting a little late and I'm pretty sure I'm needed back in SCEPTRE headquarters to report the events." Raiji turned his back and waved at the young boy as he approached the exit of the docking quarters.

"Wait... D-did you really know my mother?" Jason asked, still rather perplexed by the revelation. The teen played lightly with his fingers, hoping to get some light on the subject.

"Well.. What your mother and I had was something very special. I was a fool-hardy, young man filled with goals and ambition at the time. And I was none the wiser, deceived by my own greedy wants. She saw through all that darkness inside me, and saw the golden light of justice glowing inside me, if I remember how she described it." the old man chuckled, his mind truly being pulled back to memory lane at these past minutes.

'That does sound like mom..' Jason thought to himself, seeing as her mother was a positive ball of sunshine. She'd always see the good in other people.

"But, there came a point in where I had lost so much. My men, my trusted advisers and ministers even my own family members. They sacrificed everything to that I may walk, unscathed in my conquest. Seeing how so much was taken from me because of war and bad decisions, I couldn't let your mother stand by me through everything. After all, she was a drifter, and she wasn't even supposed to be in that place at that time. Although, time has passed quite some time and the war was at a stand still. I had become blinded with anger, seeing that I cannot make ambition a reality. I was tyrannical at the time and your mother lost all sense of hope for me and she had left at dawn before the final battle with my final adversaries. And, years after, I found out that she had someone to protect her. And I was glad. We had our own families now." Raiji went on as he smiled. "Fate really turns things around on you, you know? To think that I'd actually meet her son, it's quite remarkable."

"But.. what about Ms. Fumiko?" Jason asked, understanding Raiji's story a bit. He never knew his mother had someone else before his father. This world truly is small.

"Fumiko.. well. I gave the full custody of Fumiko, of course to her mother. And she refused to take any outside help from me, so I didn't financially support her, even if I wanted to. When Fumiko was seven years old, she ran away from home after having a fight with your mother and your father. Fumiko indeed wanted to know who her real father was, and so she ran away and took an ink portrait of me. But it was quite impossible to discern my face at the time as I was much younger in the portrait than I was currently then. She went and hid inside a cargo ship heading for Shinzuku's port and she searched for me."

'She got mom's tenacity, that's for sure..' Jason said, smiling a bit as he continued to listen to the story.

"My wife was having our newborn baby due, that was our firstborn, Raiki. It was raining heavily then. And that's when the most stressful moment of my life happened. Whilst Mitsuko's water broke, I heard a loud banging on the front door. There I saw a little girl, glaring at me heavily while she was dripping wet from the rain. And she asked if I was the man on the picture. Of course, I was very shocked to see why she had that in her hands, after all, that was a one of a kind picture." The old male then starts laughing hysterically as Jason was caught for a loop. "Then.. she starts saying I'm her father, which was ridiculous at the time. As the only child I had was in America, coming here wouldn't be possible for a lone child. At that exact moment, my wife went into labor and I had to let Fumiko in without discernment. That was one crazy night, to be honest."

"She sounds very persevering." Jason said with a slight grin on his face.

"She was a perfect reflection of your mother. Although she was quite abrasive as she grew, but she means well." Raiji said as he crossed his arms, as if everything that had happened during the span of his lifetime had seemed like a fleeting dream.

"What happened after?" Jason asked, seemingly getting more interested at hearing these stories about the sister he never knew.

"Well, she asked me to train her, for some reason. Being that she was a Luxray, much like I am, I figured that I would be a good teacher. She also developed the formidable Fighting abilities of her mother. And an unexpected fighting style as well.. The kaen-tori." Raiji said, closing eyes.

"The.. kaen-tori? I.." Jason said, a bit shocked to hear those words.

"I thought you might be familiar with that fighting style. I saw you use it during your little scuffle with Kiyoshi and Raiki. And yes, you might know that this ancient-old fighting style was innovated on the incessant footwork and rapid punches of the Blaziken race. I found out that she was also trained under the tutelage of someone named Aiden Alexander." Raiji said, electing widened eyes from the young teen.

"Th-That's.. my father. I.." Jason said, quite perplexed once more at another revelation.

"I knew your father once, he was very strong and was an aspiring young man. We met in the Valley of Heroes, he seemed to be a wandering man inside Rakuen. It was during that time when the war had distorted Rakuen and sent rifts to unknown places in our world. That was how Natalie and Aiden were able to come to that world. Like I said, there came tragic moments when I was a young man, I was broken up into little pieces, seeing all the devastation my selfishness had caused. Then this man came up to me and said things that I couldn't realize. Bitter and disgraced, I attacked him with no hesitation. And at that time, I was battle damaged from war, so naturally.. I stood no chance." Raiji smiled as he reminisced the words given to him by the Blaziken. "Your father helped me at that time, realizing that my duty was to protect that world and its sanctity."

Jason could not believe his ears at this moment. This kind of information was shocking enough to hear, never did he think he would be hearing such sensitive subjects from this man. And why he had rambled all through that course of time, it seemed to be unlike him, that being someone who was centrally focused with work. He would abstain from his post for a little while longer just to tell him things like this?

"Excuse me, if I may interrupt, Raiji-san.." Jason said, his eyes looking at the ground. "Can you tell me why you chose to disclose such things with me? I mean.. Raiki and Guren.. and mom and dad.."

"You asked, didn't you?" Raiji then chuckled loudly as he patted the boy on the back once more.

"Th-That's not what I meant.." Jaosn scrolled his eyes around nervously but the older male already interrupted him.

"I chose to say these things because you had the right to know. And I believe that you can be the turning point in Raiki's life and everyone around him. And I'm not just saying this to encourage you or sweet talk you. I know your parents. And I've seen their mettle, and I know those qualities have been bequeathed unto you." Raiji said as he placed his large hand onto the top of the Lucario's head. "Well, I better be going, it's been quite the early afternoon for me." the older male then ruffled the boy's head, as he turned around to leave, his body dissipating into streaks of black lightning.

Jason could only stand there as he took in the man's words. Was he really that special? He never knew the lives his parents had to go through, and now he's really getting it from a second-hand source. The world truly is a small place. It was all too much to take in, and he was feeling quite dizzy. He never knew how much events had happened before he was born. His former problems were currently done, but now new ones arise. He was being taken in for a loop.. just then the doors automatically opened as Guren came out.

"Jason, we need to go. Kiyoshi's calling for us." she said with a serious expression on her face. Jason then nodded as he was still staring blankly into space as he followed the Gardevoir to the elevator.
