Alright, this is the end. The Seventh Year. The Revelation. Chapter 19. The Alpha and Omega. This is the End of Ages. Catherine's Freedom. This is where I Finish the Fight. I must warn you... This story has a very sad ending. The contents of this final are ridden with sadness and loss. If you are feeling stone-hearted, you will not find and discomfort if you choose to continue. I warn you though, this is where most of us get off and walk home to those left in our lives who love us... With a tear in eye.

It was late.

Too late.

Alex had just gotten back from a family vacation to their lake house across on the other side of Lake Michigan with his mom and his cousins. A week of swimming in the deep with a bunch of younger kids in their Sesame Street life preservers, a week of pulled fur and tails, a tired week. He hadn't spoken to Jason for several days now. His mom had told him to leave his cell phone at home, which he had grudgingly but obediently done.

As he walked inside with his mom and his bag of clothes and stuff, he walked up the stairs slowly, letting his surroundings soak back into him like rain on cracked earth after a drought.

He walked into his bedroom at the top of the stars and upturned his bag and dug through the dirty clothes for his Zune. He grabbed it and clicked it into its dock. He saw the screen light up with the empty battery picture and looked away. He threw himself onto his bed, grabbing his cell phone from the desk beside his headboard. He held the red end button until he felt it vibrate through his fur to his fingers as he saw the logo appear on the small screen.

He saw that he had 3 new voicemails and a new text. He clicked the "View Message" button and read the text from his friend Matt:

"Hey iv got sum bad news gimme a call"

Hmm. Matt didn't often request that Alex call him if something had gone wrong. But he decided to check his voicemails first. He dialed his number and clicked the talk button when he heard his mom walking up the stairs with her bags and into her bedroom, piling her bags onto her bed.

As the robotic voice said, "You have. Four. New. Messages." He sighed a loud sigh and waited for the fist one to play.

"Hey kid, it's me. Uh... just gimme a call, k? Later."

God. It was so nice to hear Jason's voice after such a long time.

"To reply. Press. One. To delete. Press. Two."

Alex clicked the two key as he walked out of his room and down the stairs, moving his phone-free hand down the rail as his footpads softly carried him down the stairs to the living room. Alex turned left into the kitchen and slyly placed two of his mom's Miller Lites into the refrigerator, sliding them behind the solemn opened Tupperware on the bottom shelf. He walked on into the small hallway between the living room and the garage and slipped into the bathroom, closing the door. As he stood doing God's work, he deleted a stupid election campaign message from some local Democrats. Alex honestly couldn't give a shit who wins the presidential election.

***

Alex zipped up his pants as he shook is hands dry, smelling the befuddling scent of the watermelon soap his mom bought. He deleted another voicemail from some stupid presidential campaign crap and brought up his contacts and scrolled down the list in search of Jason's number.

He selected Jason's number and texted, "Hey u stud<3 what's going on?" He clicked the send button and watched the animation of a bird carrying an envelope across the screen. He flipped his phone shut and slid it into his pocket, walking back through the kitchen to the bottom of the stairs.

"Alex," he heard his mother shout from the second floor.

"Yeah?" he loudly replied.

"Will you bring up my red suitcase? It's by the door."

Alex walked over to their wooden front door and grabbed the deep maroon suit case by its handle and walked to the bottom of the stairs, putting the paw not carrying the suit case on the hand rail and walking up the carped staircase.

"Here," he said, placing his mom's suit case in her open doorway. She was laying on her bed reading a magazine, which she lowered to see her son.

"Thanks, hon." She raised her magazine up in front of her face and continued her reading while Alex crossed the hallway and entered his own bedroom. He selected ‘shuffle all' on his Zune's music list and laid down on his bed when White Zombie started playing.

Alex pulled a tub of Sonic the Hedgehog comic books out from underneath his bed and grabbed the top one, flipping it's cover open to reveal his blue hero. He began reading the comic books of his childhood, bringing back all the memories of sitting with his friend Matt and a bowl of popcorn on the living room carpet, reading comic books, making card towers, watching Spongebob, and playing Sonic Jam on Alex's Saturn.

Which reminded him to call Matt. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and was in the process of dialing his best friend's number when he felt the vibration running through his fingers and the screen turned red with the ‘incoming message' alert.

He clicked the ‘view message' button and read the text:

"Nuthin. Just didn't hear from u for a couple days. Where were u?"

Alex quickly texted back that he had been on vacation with the family for the last week in Michigan. As the sending animation stopped, he clicked the end button and dialed Matt's number.

He put the phone up to his ear and heard it ring. As it rang, he got up and closed his Sonic comic book and placed it back in the bin, which he covered and scooted back under his bed. He heard Matt pick up: "Hello?"

There was lots of noise in the background. It sounded as if he were in a huge crowd of talking people somewhere. Alex replied in an unusually jaunty mood, "Hey, what's up? You said to call..." He sat back down on the edge of his bed.

"Yeah, I've got some bad news, Alex," Matt's tone sounded very serious and grave, which wasn't usual.

"Yeah, you said that too."

"Uh... My dad... You know how he works for American Airlines, right?"

"Yeah..."

"Well... he's getting re-located... and..." Matt paused for several seconds. "Alex, I'm moving to Rhode Island next week."

Alex was dumbfounded. He couldn't speak at all.

His only real friend... the person whom Alex had spent his entire life with... was moving half-way across the country?

"Alex?"

Alex's mind left him. His hand that was holding the phone fell to his side, the phone landing on the soft carpeted floor. Alex simply sat there on the edge of his bed, staring into space... This couldn't be happening. This simply couldn't be happening. He heard something... but he couldn't tell what it was.

"Alex..."

He didn't know what to do. He sat.

"Alex!"

He just sat there on the edge of his bed, staring into the sunlight coming his window, looking through all the millions of tiny dust particles swirling around in the free flow of the air.

He heard his chirpy ring tone go off from the floor, but he just continued to stare. He was scared. Alex couldn't live without his best friend in the whole world... and now, he was moving to where Alex would never be able to see him...

He heard his phone ring again. And again.

***Two Weeks Pass***

Alex was getting off of his bike after a long ride around the neighborhood. After Matt had left, he hadn't really anything to do. Jason was working, so they could only hang out on weekends. His mom was gone on another business trip, so Alex was alone in his home once again. He didn't have really much of anything to do anymore, besides play video games all the time, which he simply was not capable of doing.

Alex walked his bike into the garage and pressed the big orange button by the door, watching it lower and darken all of the outdoor tools they kept in there. He walked inside and into the kitchen, trying to think of something to do. Looking around, he opened the fridge and grabbed a Pepsi and walked through the living room and out onto the patio in their back yard. He sat own and reclined one of their sun chairs, putting his head back and closing his eyes, letting his fur warm up in the sun. He put his soda down on the glass table beside him and lay there, letting himself fly away to a place where we all wish we could be.

***

Alex awoke a few hours later. He sun was on the horizon and it was starting to get a little cooler in the July heat. Alex sat up and looked around him, wishing he could be doing something destructive with Matt. But that was out of the question, so he stood up and grabbed his flat Pepsi and dumped its remainder into the grass, tossing the can into the recycle bin just inside the sliding screen door. He stood in the doorway for a moment when he saw the forest behind the next row of houses.

Hmm. I think I'll go for a walk and find some broken bottles, Alex thought to himself as he started across his neighbor's yard and past their house and into the street, and towards the many dark trees. He hadn't been into the forest since he and Matt were very young. He remembered they had found an old rotted out tree-house one time, but it has been so long... He couldn't really remember where it was. Maybe I'll find the that old tree-fort again, Alex thought to himself.

He started into the trees, stepping on the twigs and fallen leaves of the edge of the trees. Walking through, he stopped to take some pictures of strangely shaped trees and things.

Alex walked until he couldn't remember what direction he had come from. He turned around, looking for daylight in any direction, but he couldn't see anything. It had gotten dark out. He walked forward for a minute and then started walking faster. He didn't know how big this forest was, he hadn't been inside it many times before. He was beginning to feel slightly anxious, as he started to walk faster. Then an idea struck him.

He walked to the nearest tree that looked easy to climb and jumped, grabbing a hold of one of its lower branches. He would simply climb to the top branch and look around to where the edge of the trees happened so he could walk in that direction. He pulled himself up and got a secure footing on it, taking hold of another branch. He placed his other foot in the ‘Y' of the tree and stepped higher onto another branch. He looked down at his foot and saw that he was higher than he had at first thought. He was shocked by how high he was. It hadn't felt like 20 feet, but he was easily that high off the ground. He put his foot on another branch, when his sneaker slipped on some moss that had been growing. He was struck by fear and panic when everything seemed to slow down to a crawling pace. His paws had been balancing him when he had placed his foot on the mossy branch, so he had no support by the tree. It felt as though the tree had recessed away from him instead of being strong under his paws to support him. Alex was in mid-air, with the wind rushing from underneath him. Strange. Wind usually came from the side, not from the bottom. He then felt most terrible pain he had ever felt. It was as though a thousand knives had been plunged to the hilt into his shin. He mashed his eyes shut and he let out a cry. A blood-curdling cry.

The cry and the feeling of fire ants eating his leg from the inside out were the last things he remembered before he woke up.

***

Alex opened his eyes. It was dark all around him. He lifted his head up off the ground and looked around him. It was pitch black all around him. He began to remember where he was... The forest... what... had he fallen asleep against a tree?

No... He had been climbing a tree to see the top of the foliage...

He then remembered. He tried to move his leg, but the feeling of fire returned to him, making him scream as loud as his lungs could go. After the pain stopped, he tried to think of what to do. His leg didn't hurt unless he tried to move. He laid back down onto the cold earth and slid his hand into his pocket. He felt the cold plastic of his cell phone on his paw. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and flipped it open. The screen didn't light up. He felt for the red end button and pressed it.

Nothing. He pressed it again.

"No..."

He pressed it and held it as hard as his thumb could.

"No... No, no, no! NO!"

His cell phone was dead. He hadn't charged it last night...

He panicked. He looked all around him as he heard a twig snap.

"HELP!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.

"HELP, SOMEBODY!"

It was dark. It was late. He couldn't even tell what time it was. He had left his Zune at home and his phone was dead. He had no watch, because the two devices he kept with him always both kept time... but at this current time, neither of them were any help.

"SOMEBODY, HELP ME!"

He heard another twig snap. He looked all around him, his head rolling over on the cold dirt.

He heard footsteps to his left. He turned his head to look, but he could see nothing. His ears were pointing straight out...

"Hello?"

The footsteps grew closer.

"Hello... Who's there?"

He heard the footsteps grow closer until he felt the warmth of whoever's breath.

"Who are you..." Alex was scared.

He heard movement coming from directly above him. He then felt paws grabbing him underneath his arms, pulling him up onto a lap.

"AUGH! WHAT'RE YOU DOING!" He shouted and struggled, trying to get free of the stranger's grip.

He then felt the warmth of the strange man's breath in his ear. "Shhhhh..."

Alex calmed himself. He had been pulled up into the person's lap, and they had leaned Alex's head against their chest.

"What're you doing? Who are â€""

And that's when it hit him. His shoulder exploded into billions of tiny shredded pieces as he felt pain greater than that in his leg shoot down his arm and into his soul. He threw his head back opened his mouth wide, but no scream was heard. He simply lay there. Pain shooting up and down his entire right side, in the arms of a man who he did not know.

Then, through all the pain, he felt something soft brush against his ear. He turned his head to look through the dark and his muzzle bumped into the wolverine's head. The evil canine had his powerful jaw clamped onto hopeless Alex's shoulder, and was sucking his blood.

Then... The pain... it suddenly disappeared. Alex could see. He saw his leg bent at an unusually strange angle. He saw his hands. He looked to his left and saw the nose of the wolverine who had been feasting on him. But the second Alex could see... The second the light had shone on the two of them, the man stopped and released Alex's shoulder. He looked up and turned his head, looking at something Alex couldn't see.

His vision suddenly became very blurry. He felt something hit the back of his head and his upper back. He saw boots, running toward him. He heard noise... but he simply could not comprehend what was happening as everything just went black.

***

Alex awoke. He didn't open his eyes. He could hear some quiet hustle and bustle around him and a very steady and very quiet beeping sound. He shook his head, static from the pillow making his fur stand on end.

He opened his eyes and saw a white tiled ceiling. He looked to his left and over a white pillow he saw a white curtain. He looked to his left and saw a white wall.

Everything was so white here. He looked down his body and saw he was laying in white sheets. He attempted to try and sit up and felt a stabbing pain in his shoulder. He clenched his teeth and inhaled deeply, putting his uninjured arm on his bandaged shoulder. Weird. White bandaging too.

The beeping coming from his bedside had sped up while he had been gripping his bandaged shoulder, and a very pretty cheetah wearing a white skirt pulled the curtain aside and saw Alex gripping his shoulder.

"Well, look who's awake," she said in a beautiful voice.

Alex opened his eyes and turned his head to look at her.

She must've seen a confused expression on his face, because she said to him, "Welcome back, Alex."

Alex furrowed his brow and laid his head back down.

"You're in the hospital, kiddo. You've been asleep for two days. You must've been tired out in that forest," She said, taking his hand off of his shoulder and placing it on his stomach.

"Forest..."

"Yeah. An old man said he called 911 when he heard screaming coming from the trees in his back yard.

"When the ambulance got there, you were out and you had an open wound on your shoulder and a fractured leg."

"Bleeding shoulder..." Alex remembered falling out of the tree he was climbing. He didn't remember anything happening to his shoulder, though.

"What were you doing out there, Alex?"

"I... how do you know my name? Who are you?"

The nurse laughed quietly to herself. "Alex, you had blood up and down your shoulder. We took your DNA and looked up your identity. At first, the results from the lab were a little screwed up, so we tried it a second time."

"Wha... Where... Have you called my mom?"

"Yes we have. She hurried home from her business trip and came to see you day before yesterday, but you were still asleep. She should be on her way here right now. We told her we'd give her a call as soon as you woke up."

"So... Wait. Whaddyou mean, my first result was ‘a little screwed up'?"

"Well, we got two different sets of DNA. One that was yours, and one of a black wolverine."

"A black wolverine... He's the one who bit me..."

The nurse's expression changed to a very inquisitory look and she said, "Bit you?"

"Yeah... see, I was climbing the tree because I was lost, and I wanted to see where the edge of the trees was, but I... fell..."

Alex tried to remember what happened after that.

"Yes? What happened after that?"

"I fell... and... I... I don't remember... It was dark, and this guy grabbed me and I thought he was trying to comfort me or something, because he pulled me up on his lap... but then he took a bite out of my shoulder, and he was... he was drinking my blood..."

Alex looked at the nurse, who looked bewildered.

"He was drinking... your blood? Well, wolverines do that. You eat a lot of meat, I expect?"

Alex replied, "Well, yeah. I'm a fox. We don't find very good taste in plants all the time..."

The nurse replied, "Well, neither do cheetahs. But still, that wolverine shouldn't've done that."

"You didn't loose his DNA, did you?"

The nurse looked away from him and said, "Well, his saliva didn't match your profile, so his DNA sample was discarded and your shoulder was cleaned. I'm sorry."

Alex got angry. "What the hell? Why? Shouldn't you always keep all the info you find on a person who has several unexplainable injuries?"

The nurse gave him a stern look and replied, "Well, it's not a regulation and we have limited spaces in our storage facilities, so we had no reason to keep it. I apologize for discarding that information, but there's nothing we can do about it now. Are you hungry?"

Alex suddenly realized that he was very hungry, and he said, "yeah..."

"I'll have the orderly come by with the lunch cart."

And Alex ate his lunch, completely forgetting about the night in the forest, his casted leg, and his bandaged shoulder.

***

Alex had finally been discharged from the hospital and was back at home, with nothing to do, again. It was August now, and school was looming nearer. He decided not to be outdoor much again after his incident on his nature-walk through the woods. Having a club on his leg made going anywhere hard in the first place.

It was late at night and Alex was sitting on the living room couch watching Shop Erotic on TV, watching the two anatomically perfect 25-year-old girls describe and show off all kinds of fancy dildos and pumps... he wanted one so bad...

Alex pulled his phone out and texted Jason, "Hey stud, whats up?"

He clicked the send button and flipped his phone shut, placing it on his stomach as he slouched even lower into the deep sofa looking at a particularly nice purple vibrator with a knot at the base. As he looked to the side of the screen for the price, he saw "$79.99" which was ridiculous. You could get a cheap hooker for that price.

He felt the phone vibrate in his hands and he flipped it open, reading Jason's reply.

"Nothin just watchin a movie. You?"

Alex clicked the reply button and typed "I'm watching shop erotic on TV. Its great, but I'm not old enough to buy anything"

He clicked the send button and flipped his phone shut again, looking back at the TV.

He had told Jason about his incident in the woods, and he had rushed over immediately to comfort his boyfriend, but Jason had work the next day, so they couldn't spend the night together.

The girls on the TV were demonstrating how flimsy and flexible a rubber double-dildo was by bending it in half, its two penile ends touching together.

He felt the phone vibrating in his paw again, and he flipped it open and read Jason's message.

"Oh, you want me to get u something?" Alex had to read this message again. Jason, the guy who had fucked Alex hard so many times... was offering to buy him an artificial version of himself.

He texted back very quickly: "Really? Youd do that for me?"

He looked back at the TV and watched the girls demonstrate how the featured item worked... a nine-function double vibrator... how would that even work? What nine different things can a double dildo do?

He felt the vibration of the phone in his paw again and he quickly flipped it open and read Jason's text.

"Sure. Jus text me the item number. Ill pay."

Alex was excited for this... He quickly replied, "Thanks thats awesome! I like # A4635," which was the particularly fine vibrating member with the knot he had seen before.

About five minutes later, his phone vibrated with the replying text, "It'll get to ur house in 9-12 busines days"

Alex was quite excited at this. He was smiling broadly on his sofa, reading Jason's message. He texted him back very quickly, saying "Thanks <3 you wanna hang out tomorrow? Have a beer and a movie?"

He clicked the send button for what seemed like the hundredth time that night. Looking at the TV and seeing that Shop Erotic was over, he sighed and clicked it off, heaving up from his seat. As he stretched, he felt the phone vibrate in his hand one last time that night. He flipped it open and read Jason's answer: "Absolutely. Ill take care of everything. Just come by my house around 9."

Alex smiled to himself. Alex's morale had been so low after his best friend had moved, so smiling wasn't something Alex did very often. If it hadn't been for Jason, Alex didn't know what he would've done with himself.

***

The next afternoon, Alex was stepping out of the shower, singing along to Crimson Glory. He plugged in his blow drier as he sang "Where Dragons Rule," feeling the warm air rush through his fur. As he dried himself off, he was thinking about what movies he wanted to watch tonight. He would probably get to Jason's house and watch whatever Jason would put in, but he couldn't help but be excited about going to Jason's house again.

As he limped across the hall and into his room swing his hips, letting his fuzzy nut sack swing free between his legs. He got into his room and clicked the ‘next' button on his Zune remote, listening to what came on next while he dressed in a polo shirt and his favorite pair of beachy cargo shorts.

As he fed his tail through the hole that he had specially cut on all of his pants, he looked over to his Zune and looked for the time in the corner of the screen. 7:38p. He needed to get going if he wanted to get to Jason's house early.

As he walked back into the bathroom to run a brush through his fur, he realized that he couldn't ride his bike over to Jason's place because of his leg, so he limped back across the hall to his phone to send a text to Jason regarding his predicament.

He sat on his bed waiting for Jason's reply which read, "Well, is anyone else at your place? Cuz I can bring everything there"

Alex clicked his reply button and sent the message, "No its just me. Come on over."

He ran made his way down the stairs and was just turning on his XboX to play Red Alert 3 when he heard the truck pull into the driveway. He got up, looking away from the hammer and sickle EA logo to go greet the one last person who he had in his world.

He opened the front door and leaned against it, watching Jason grab a CD wallet and a soda cooler, which Alex was positive contained beer.

As Jason approached him, he held out an arm to plant a hug and a kiss on him, greeting him with, "Hey, you."

Jason replied, finishing the kiss with "Hey. And how are you?"

"Much better, now."

Jason chuckled and smooched Alex one more time before coming in and setting the small cooler down next to the refrigerator, and looking around before saying, "Well, would you like to get watching?"

Alex smiled and replied, "Absolutely," taking Jason's paw and leading him around the centerpiece that contained the staircase that lead to the small second floor.

As they sat down on the mushy couch, Jason put his arm around Alex, holding him close and placed the fat DVD wallet on their laps, flipping it open.

"What do you want to watch?"

Alex didn't even look into Jason's collection of movies. He simply stared into his loved one's eyes. "Whatever you want. I just enjoy the company," he said this with a smile, placing his paw onto Jason's belly, slowly starting to massage it.

"You horny fox," Jason smiled and kissed Alex's nose before looking down into his movies, flipping the pages. They finally came to rest on Shaun of the Dead, and Alex took it and stood up to insert into the DVD player.

As they sat back and turned the lights off, Alex pulled his legs up onto the couch with them and snuggled into Jason's warm embrace.

During the course of the movie, Jason had gotten up to get the cooler and had brought it into the living room to where the movie was. By the time the movie finished, Alex had had five, without really even noticing, and was starting to feel a little frisky. As the credits started rolling, He looked up to see Jason's face in the dark and licked the bottom of his muzzle, playfully.

"Well, that was nice," Jason said, and Alex couldn't figure out if he meant the movie or the lick, so he continued to getting up onto his knees and jumping to straddle Jason, whose lap seemed to approach him faster than it usually did.

"Yeah... want more?" Alex touched his nose to Jason's, who was somewhat confused by Alex's response before he realized what he had been referring to.

Jason simply chuckled before sinking his muzzle into it's locked position with Alex's, whose shirt he started to slowly peel off.

Breaking the kiss so his shirt could be removed, Alex looked down and started to undo the slowly tenting pants he was sitting on. He was having a lot of trouble with the zipper, which seemed to be slithering from between his fingers whenever he tried to grab it. Jason lowered his hands to undo his own zipper, along with Alex's.

Alex stood up off of Jason with some trouble because of his cast and lowered his pants, leaving him standing in front of his man wearing nothing but a pair of deep blue briefs. Jason lifted his hips off of the couch to remove his pants and his boxers at the same time, letting his fully erect cock to stand out proud in the light cast by the TV screen.

As Jason rested his arms on the back of the couch, Alex smiled very coyly to himself before kneeling and giving his foot-long territory a very wide and wet tongue from the base to the tip, before lowering his muzzle to take Jason's fuzzy nut sack into his mouth, rolling them around on his tongue, sucking gingerly on it.

"Mmmm." Jason leaned his head back and lowered one arm to scratch behind Alex's ears.

Alex moved back up to the long member before him and slowly lowered his muzzle onto it, bobbing up and down a few times before standing back up to remove his briefs, climbing back astraddle Jason's finely toned thighs.

He came to rest on his knees, his tail brushing against the bottom of Jason's erect cock. He kissed Jason on the nose before lowering himself slowly to touch his tail hole to the hard member beneath him. He closed his eyes before sinking slowly, his hole clamping around the head.

Jason groaned and leaned his head back again, placing his hands on Alex's hips, gripping him tightly, guiding him down. Alex slowly lowered himself further and further, feeling the long erection touching deep inside him until he felt Jason's thighs against his. He then pushed himself upward, feeling the warmth when he stopped, the cockhead pulling against his tail hole. He lowered himself back down faster this time, letting the bounce at the bottom help him back up.

He began to speed his pace up, bouncing up and down on Jared's erect member while he listened to his and his lover's moans and deep breaths. As he fucked himself on Jared's cock, he could feel it rubbing against his prostate, sending bursts of pleasure throughout his entire body.

After several long and much enjoyed minutes, he started speeding up and tensing his anal muscles, tightening his grip on Jason's cock until he heard the deep voice grunt out, "Mm.. Alex... I'm gonna..."

Alex's reply was to speed up even more and say, "Oh yeah... let it go..." when he felt the pulsating against his insides, releasing his own load all over Jason's stomach. He slowly leaned forward against Jason's chest, resting his head on the shoulder. He felt Jason place his hands on his fuzzy butt cheeks, but not to pull him off... to keep him on as he shifted his position to lean against the arm of the couch, to sleep... with his member still deep inside his love... as they drifted away together.

***

When Alex awoke, he was cold. He had fallen asleep with Jason's cock still inside him... but he knew it must've slipped out while they slept. He opened his eyes and pushed himself up straight, when he realized that Jason was why he was cold. He put his hands up to his chest, feeling the gray fur... and it was cold. He grabbed Jason's hand and held his fingers... and they were cold.

Alex furrowed his eyebrow. He looked down at Jason's cold, grim expression. That's when he realized that he wasn't breathing.

Alex felt a bucket of ice cascade into his stomach. He lurched forward and grabbed hold of Jason's shoulders, "Jason?"

He shook the cold shoulders gently. "Jason..."

He shook the cold shoulders again. "Jason..."

He jostled himself on Jason's lap and shook his shoulders violently, "JASON!"

The only result was Jason's head bobbing around, limp on his shoulders.

"JASON!!! WAKE UP!"

Alex took the cold wrist and felt for a pulse... the only thing he felt was the soft gray fur underneath his fingertips.

He dropped the hand he held , looking for a sign of life... but they were all gone. Alex felt a tear soak the fur beneath his eye. He clenched his eyes shut, trying to withhold any tears. He leaned forward and said very quietly... "Jason... wake up..."

He started quietly sobbing against the chest of the only person who he could be with anymore. He listened quietly... but there was no heartbeat. He felt more tears roll down his muzzle... He didn't know what to do.

Suddenly, Alex had an idea. He stood up and ran to the kitchen and grabbed a knife out of the wood block next to the toaster and ran back to the living room couch, to where his cold, lifeless lover lay. He jumped back astraddle Jason's legs and tried to shake him awake one more time before making the biggest decision of his life.

With a tear in eye, he slowly placed the blade of the knife against the fur on his wrist. He pressed harder... until he saw what would bring him and Jason back together again.

As it dripped off of his wrist and onto Jason's cold stomach, he pressed harder, watching the blood seep faster from his wrist. It seemed to flow out of him and down his arm...

And he started to feel very dizzy... When... he put his head down and let his eyes drift shut one last time, hoping to see the one person who mattered to him... one more time.

I'm sorry. But I will be back.
