#11 of Under Cloak of Darkness

(Song: Ka-boom Ka-boom by Marilyn Manson)

(Scene: The Death of an Immortal/Kimona Gets Molested)

Eveser awoke with a start. He looked around, he was in his room. For a few moments, he didn't remember even his own name, but then it all hit him like a truck. He remembered the wild afternoon he shared with Cyllea, all the explaining he had had to do to Kimona and the other Omaki who had come to see if he was ok.

A moan came from next to him. He looked over and saw the steel-gray dragoness, his mate, waking softly next to him. Eve smiled at her when she awoke with a look of both love and care in his eyes.

When Cyllea opened her eyes, she saw her beautiful mate looking back at her. As they looked into each other's eyes, they felt a feeling of unimaginable love for the other.

However, as they moved in for a passionate kiss, there was a loud boom that rattled the fortress. The love was quickly, reluctantly, replaced with concern. They jumped off the bed and ran towards the door. Eve opened it for Cyllea and shut it as they both scampered out of the room. When they reached the courtyard, they saw an odd site: the Lindix roaring at the entrance, a whole building demolished, Kimona moving slowly towards it, and Darrow standing off to the side. Eve walked up to Kimona, who was trying to calm the rabid monster down.

"What happened? How did it get out?" he asked. She glared at him.

"Shhhhh, don't get in the way. This is a very delicate operation," she said angrily. The Lindix was quiet as she approached it. It cocked its head at her. She spoke softly and tried to make it calm again. It started to stop gurgling and be quiet. The closer the feline got, the quieter it got. As it became completely soundless, Kimona put her hand down and patted the beast on its slimy head. It looked at the gateway once more, and only had a second to realize what was happening before something unbelievable occurred.

A huge, spinning, metal ring sliced clear through the Lindix's neck and sent its head tumbling to the ground. It tried to re-grow the lost limb, but found it couldn't and then fell dead to the ground. Kimona gasped and looked towards the entrance. The ring flew in a boomerang-style turn and landed in a metallic claw. Eve, along with everyone else in the fortress, stared with awe. There was a tall man, well not really a man, standing at the gate. It had disgustingly tannish-pale skin and metallic, skeletal limbs and head.

"Who are you?" Kimona asked forcefully, getting to her feet and grabbing the hilt of her blade. The new enemy chuckled and vanished into thin air. A few seconds later, an Omaki fell to the ground dead, then another, then another, than another. This slaughter went on until only Eveser, Darrow, Cyllea, and Kimona were left. The new enemy appeared in front of Kimona literally a few inches from her face.

"Hello kitty-cat," it growled. "Still don't recognize me?"

Kimona's only response was pulling free her blade and ramming it into the creature's stomach. It stepped back, unfazed, and looked at the sword in its gut. It reached a claw down and grabbed the hilt as Kimona watched in surprise, fear, and awe. With one mighty pull, it tore the katana out. No blood stained the blade, no wound on the creature's skin. There was no evidence that Kimona had even stabbed the thing.

"Ooooooh, feisty," it smirked. "I like it."

He jumped and was immediately gone again. She looked around quickly. He appeared behind her and licked her in the crook of her neck. She swung around with a strong punch and hit nothing. He again appeared behind her, but this time she was ready. She punched the second he appeared. He raised his arm to block, and then smacked her fist in to the air momentarily. That moment was all the time he needed. He reached with his claw and grabbed her right breast with his claw. She looked at him, eyes wide, and he raised an eyebrow back at her.

"Not bad," he said aloud. She swung and he vanished, only to appear a couple feet in front of her. "C cup right?"

He chuckled and disappeared again before she could strike. It was now that she turned to Darrow, Cyllea, and Eveser.

"Guys?! As much fun as getting molested is, could you help me out?!" she screamed at them just before the thing appeared behind her and grabbed her ass. She yelped and tried to back-roundhouse kick it, but again missed. It chuckled dementedly as it appeared a good five feet away from her.

"Do you work out?" it mused. Kimona gave it a disgusted look and was about to run towards it. She was stopped when Darrow jumped in front of her and a gunshot rang out. The Thing just stood there, as if the bullet missed. But that's impossible, Darrow never missed!

"Oh! Is this yours?" the creature asked and held up its hand. It held a small, silver mass of metal. Darrow's bullet. Darrow stared in awe.

"How the-?" Eve asked in disbelief. The Thing looked at him and shrugged.

"It just takes practice, and a lot of free time," he said and held out his hand towards him. The first bone in his arm separated into many small sections connected by a metal wire that ran through the inside of the bone. It stretched out towards Eve and grabbed him by the throat. The Thing tried to pull him back towards him, but couldn't. He looked back at his hand. Cyllea had breathed on his forearm, making them unable to move. He snarled at her.

"Didn't you learn your lesson last time I killed you?" Thing asked. Up until now, no one had gained any insight into the identity of the new enemy. With that last remark, it became blatantly obvious.

"Swade?!" Cyllea asked eyes wide.

"No! Dameon Swade is dead. He was a failure who couldn't even kill a simple dragon and his bitch! No...my name is Dirge," he said malevolently. He jumped into the air and lunged, using his stretched out arm to pull himself forward. With a screech, Cyllea was head-butted backwards. She slammed through a wall and landed in a pile of debris inside the building. Eve was distracted with care for his mate just long enough for Dirge to call his ring-blade over to his hand. The second he grasped it, he jumped at him and swung it in a devastating arc of death in Eve's direction. A wet, crunching noise and a clang sang out through the air.

There was a spatter of blood that hit Eve in the face and forced him to turn his gaze from his injured love to the sight in front of him. Dirge's ring-blade was stuck dead-center in Kimona's chest. Her sword was held in front of her as if to try and block, but it was just inches away from where Dirge had hit. She looked with awe, as if she didn't understand that she was hit. Dirge just laughed and pushed harder, forcing the edge of the blade to protrude from her back. Eveser felt as though he had been hit as well.

"Aw, isn't that a shame? I really liked you," Dirge chuckled as he placed a foot on Kimona's shoulder and kicked, knocking her off the ring-blade. She landed with a thump, Eve looking on as a wave of heartfelt grief washed over him, then a surge of uncontrollable anger. He stared at Dirge as he wiped the blood off of his blade and vanished. Eve knelt down to Kimona.

"Kimona...I'm so sorry...I...didn't mean to...I got distracted...I...oh god, now I'm just making up excuses," he moaned piteously. She coughed and a couple drops of blood jumped from her lips. He wiped it away.

"Don't apologize, it...wasn't your fault *cough racked with pain*. I couldn't move my arms fast enough...if I *cough racked with more pain* had moved instead of gawking...well, at least you're still live, and that's *cough of the dead* all that m-matters. Take care of yourself, will you? Don't go *cough* gallivanting into the lion's den or anything like that...and remember, we'll always be with you, no matter what, we'll always be there to guide you in your darkest hour...*exhale of dying breath*" Kimona coughed one last time and let herself sink into her deepest sleep yet.

"Kimona...no! Don't go! Please, no..." Eve tried in vain to keep her awake. Cyllea was just walking up behind him when he let Kimona's body fall to the earth where it belonged. Cyllea wrapped her front paws around his neck and hugged him close.

"We can get him, together. That's all that matters, stopping this monster before he destroys everything we know and love...what Kimona would have wanted," Cyllea said softly.

"You have to promise me something," Eveser said quietly.

"Of course, anything," Cyllea responded eagerly.

"Promise you won't get in my way," he said, bitterness and spite dripping from his words. Darrow walked up behind them both.

"Only if you get to him first," he snarled. Eve smirked. He stood up and looked at the gate with the others. There was another man standing there.

"He-hello? Could you please help me?" the man said, sounding very nervous. He stepped into a sunbeam and all three of the Omaki gasped. It was Dameon Swade.
