Enter the Pyramid
Isis teleported them to the outside of a building a few hundred miles away from New York. She entered a code into the keypad by the door and went in with the bear, who Raid found to be named Horus, and Night Raid at her heels. They entered what looked like an old museum and Isis led them to a hidden stairwell behind one of the exhibits. The stairwell took them down for a few hundred feet then opened to a command centre the size of the Oval Office. There were seven different work stations, each with different information on their screens and there were two more doors leading off to other rooms. There was a circular table in the centre of the room with a touchscreen, probably connected to the main monitor on the far wall. Raid discreetly tapped a button on his wrist just as Isis turned to him.
"Welcome to the Pyramid, our HQ. We're a team of heroes from around the globe and we track down and fight the biggest threat known on Earth."
"What or who is the threat? Set's gang?"
"No," said a guy emerging from one of the rooms, "he's a small fish in a big ocean. Who we want is his boss, who goes by the name Python Python."
"Night Raid meet Ra, our leader and this is his brother Osiris," Isis gestured to another man walking out from the same room as Ra.
They both wore sleeveless shirts with leather straps, forming a cross on their chests and leather trousers with thick combat boots on their feet. Ra had a skin tight hawk shaped mask on his face and Osiris wore a strip around his eyes similar to a ninja. Ra's getup was a bronze colour while Osiris' was blue.
"Who's the dog," asked Ra
"I believe they prefer to be called Lupines brother," said Osiris, putting a hand on Ra shoulder, "this particular Lupine calls himself Night Raid but-"
Osiris stepped towards Raid, eyes glowing blue. Night Raid felt a tugging sensation in his mind and could see parts of his life coming to his mind's eye. His parents and his friends came into view in his mind's eye but he shook them off, realising that Osiris was probably a telepath.
"Nice try blue boy," said Night Raid, "but your mind games won't work with me."
"Why are you here," asked Ra, stepping forward, "my brother was just trying to determine who you were but you obviously have your own secrets to carry as we do. How about we shake hands and you leave our base while you can talk in full sentences."
The two stood eye to eye with Ra being a little taller than Raid but Isis snapped her fingers and they stopped their stand off.
"How about we wake up the guy I went through so much trouble for before his friend tries to kill us," she said, waving her hand over Storm Rider's unconscious form.
Jake woke up to see his best friend standing over him. He stood quickly and notice the other people in the room staring at him intently.
"Where?"
"About three hundred miles from the city in an underground command centre run by a group of superheroes that I've been tracking."
"How exactly were you tracking us," said a guy in a bronze costume, "we've never let ourselves be seen on any type of radar."
Night Raid smiled, which was something he only did when he had something others wanted, most of the time it was information.
"When I heard about a man with giant bird wings a few months ago I did some digging, inaccurate dog jokes aside, and found satellite footage of you and Osiris talking on a rooftop with Horus and Isis in Washington DC. Storm Rider and I are never caught on any type of camera thanks to a program I installed but you five were very easy to track."
"Five?" asked Isis, "there are only four of us."
Night Raid went to one of the computers and began hacking his way in.
"Good luck trying to-," Ra began.
"Done," said Raid without stopping, "I started to infiltrate your systems when I arrived so my main hard drive now knows everything that yours knows. Here is footage from a satellite feed that I found about two weeks ago."
The picture showed Ra and Osiris talking to a guy wearing something similar to a dark green wetsuit and holding a spear. They were by the river Thames in London and were talking on a bridge. Isis looked at Ra accusingly.
"Why didn't you tell me that you were talking to him?!"
"We were going to tell you," said Osiris calmly, "but only before he arrived tomorrow so that your wouldn't try punch him, again."
"Everyone's private lives aside," said Ra irritably, "let us introduce our latest recruit to the team. Storm Rider have you accepted our offer?"
Storm Rider looked at Night Raid but his friend showed no sign of resentment or anger at the news. Ra had approached him during one of his night shifts and had given him time to mull it over but now he knew what his answer was.
"Yes, I accept your offer to join your team," he said smoothly.
Rider told the others of his control over the weather, Isis said that she could use magic, her brother, (most likely adopted)Horus, could command the earth, Osiris had telepathic abilities and Ra could control fire and use energy blasts.
"And what can you do, Night Raid," asked Ra, eyeing him carefully, "Isis has told us that you were immune to her spell and from what our computer can tell us you have extraordinary skill with a bow as well as programming. Care to comment Jake?"
"He has a right to his own secrets. But can we at least tell them one other ability that you have, please."
Raid looked at him then said, "because you can't see them I'm telling you that I'm rolling my eyes right now."
"And what, pray tell, are the colour of your eyes," said Ra nonchalantly, "Lupines are always defined by their eye colour. Some have green, most have yellow but then you get those that have red eyes, they are rare. Then again your eyes could be the even rarer blue but would make you a-"
Night Raid's form blurred and suddenly he and Ra were in one of the adjoining rooms, out of sight from the others. Raid had one hand around Ra's neck and the other was pointing the wrist crossbow at his face.
"What my people say blue eyed wolves are remains a secret," Raid snarled, "you tell anyone and you won't survive to see the results."
Alarms blared from the monitors stopping either of them from continuing the conversation. Raid took them back to the opps centre then he and Isis went to separated computers and both began typing away.
"There's an incoming communication from your teammate in the field," Raid said quickly, "I'll put it on the main screen."
"Poseidon," said Ra to the hero on screen, "what's the emergency?"
"I've got a Minotaur, Circe and some lioness with a military grade flamethrower attacking an oil rig," said Poseidon, "they're threatening to destroy the oil pumps."
"I'll send Osiris and our new ally along to help," said Ra, "Pyramid out."
The monitor went dark and Ra turned to the others.
"Isis, please see if you can open a portal to Poseidon's last location, we can send Storm and Osiris there. We'll monitor you here and send backup if something on the rig goes wrong. Raid can go if he wants to."
Isis waved her hand in a pattern and a purple spiral appeared hovering in the centre of the room. Osiris and Storm Rider immediately went through but Night Raid hesitated.
"It's perfectly safe," said Isis, "but if you don't want use the portal I suppose you could try use your speed to run there."
"I'm fine. Just new to this sort of thing."
"Alright but before you go-"
Isis slapped him across the face.
"That's for trying to use me as a hostage. You're lucky Horus agreed not to punch you instead."
Night Raid nodded and ran though the portal and appeared at the oil rig which was now starting to burn.
"Glad you could make it."
Raid turned to see a blonde sixteen year old in a black striped, dark green wet suit with a golden trident on his chest. The kid held a bronze spear in his hand and it was pulsing with electrified green light.
"Poseidon," he said with a British accent, holding out his free hand.
"Night Raid," said Raid taking it, "where're the-"
A huge explosion shook the rig and when Night Raid zoomed in, using the lenses on his mask, he saw two lionesses, one with a flamethrower and the other with glowing paws, standing at the entrance.
"Raid!"
They looked up to see Osiris and Rider flying overhead, towards the attackers.
"Take care of the fire we got the cats," called Osiris.
Night Raid grabbed Poseidon and sped them over to the fire where Poseidon summoned sea water to dose most of it. Night Raid used foam arrows to take care of the chemical flames brought on by the overheated oil. Just as they were finishing up they heard a roar come from the rig's control room. A 9 foot tall bull came crashing through the building, eyes glowing red, wearing a loincloth and twin gauntlets radiating energy.
"I see you've found my Minotaur," said a voice.
They saw one of the lionesses floating lazily in the air above them. She wore an Ancient Greek toga with a golden tiara on her head.
"Circe," yelled out Poseidon, "what do you want witch?"
"Ultimate power, endless wealth, the list goes on and on but right now I'll be content with cause a nationwide disaster!"
Night Raid notched an arrow and aimed it at her but she just laughed at him.
"Silly archer, those pitiful weapons were outdated centuries ago. My new sister has learned that magic is the only weapon of use and she no longer needs to use some gun to cause chaos."
Sekhmet came out from the control room but she now looked like her body was entirely made up of fire. Circe had turned her into a Fire elemental.
Raid fired his arrow at Circe but she turned it into a rose when it neared her then plucked it out of the air for a sniff.
"For me? Aw you're such a gentlemen," she said, "I almost regret seeing you die by my pet's hands but I'm sure I'll get over it. Minotaur, kill the Lupine and bring me his head."
The bull roared. It turned it's red eyes towards them then it let out steam from it's nostrils.
"Don't worry," said Poseidon, readying his spear, "the Minotaur isn't as tough as he-"
The bull roared and a plume of fire came forth, striking the stunned mariner in the chest and sending him flying out into the ocean. Night Raid curse and readied his bow as the beast came charging towards him at full speed.
