#57 of Book 2 - N.D.'s Reign

A simple job from Abu. Thats what he always says :(

It's been some time and I'm so close to a breakthrough. My love....I won't let whoever did this to you get away. Your father was against our relationship and my family pushed me aside for being a half breed. You're the only one I loved....I will have my revenge!

Date - January 7

Location - Uptown Saint Falda, SFPD building

Time - 12:40 pm

The New Year came and went quietly; now the major event on everyone's mind was the coming tournament. Not only was the prize massive, but the competition this year was supposed to be the best yet. Phrin was worried for her friends who forced to enter, knowing that even with their power it would not be easy. This was supposed to bring about all of the strongest fighters on the planet, hating that she could not join for the worry of keeping her image free of any issues considering that dragons rarely held high-class jobs due to discrimination caused by N.D.'s caste system.

Today started to be another boring day, until she got a call from her Bloodhound bud Jaren in the law enforcement of SFPD, regarding the case she handled some time ago. After having breakfast, she received a call from the precinct to meet up with the Commissioner Blood hound, recently promoted. Having worked in Saint Falda for well over 30 years, he was well qualified for the job, going for the pro unity clause of all species being equal. His forces were mostly dogs, but it was indeed open to anyone who wanted to serve and protect. Upon walking in, she got stares from every one, the large hall filled with canines in blue and a few other species such as ferrets and dragons.

"...Phrin! Hiya!" greeted most them, happy to see the prodigy dragon attorney at law visiting. She was known for her good long-standing relationship with one of their more diligent detectives Jaren, greeting everyone before being snatched up into someone's arms. It was quite a shock for her, yelping in surprise before realizing now that Jaren had snatched her up and was running at full speed, "ACK! HEY! Why are you kidnapping me at your job!" she shouted while wiggling, being taken down a hallway, towards the morgue. Being portable sized had its up sides but she was not a fan of being suddenly whooshed away without dinner first and maybe a movie, "Sorrysorry! Justnotime! They'reonlygivingus30minutestoexaminethebodysowegottagettoworkimmediately!" Jaren quickly replied, sprinting past the other officers and getting them to their destination in no time flat.

The Police Station was large enough to have the morgue in the same building, as well as separate rooms for analyzing any bodies directly. The case that was left open by Wellington was still being pursued by Phrin, knowing there must have been more than that went on behind the scenes that day. The only problem was getting approval of an autopsy of Poile, whom later they found out was of royal blood. Someone of royal decent was not allowed to be touched or desecrated after death, as approval of anything of the sort fell upon remainder of the surviving family. It took several months but they finally gave in to allow only one autopsy, and only for 30 minutes. They wanted an answer to the murder of their prince but they also did not want the body to be ruined when the ceremonies begin.

Phrin was recommended by Jaren, head of the investigation for the case since she was a dragon and one who could spot any magic related evidence. After some playful yelling from the blue dragoness, Jaren brought them both to Examination room 14, a typical room for checkups but much larger for those who were not human sized. It was a typical white tiled room, with a large examination table in the middle, along with the tools of the trade in blue cupboards and such against the wall and corner. After Jaren spent a minute filling her in, the doors burst open with the body of their victim being wheeled in, "...so you're saying we have 30 minutes to check the body along with the Coroner. That is not a lot of time...though I am glad we finally get a chance to check the body personally. Let's get to work." remarked Phrin while cracking her knuckles, Jaren giving a nod and lifting her up onto his shoulders.

Her short stature and the lack of chairs meant that she had to be lifted up to higher ground. Phrin was handed a clipboard containing the information of the victim, reading down the list as the body was uncovered, "Polie Brandz, a komodo dragon of the royal family of Brandz was the victim. Height of 9 foot 7 inches...somewhat short for a male of his species but his ambition and intelligence were top notch. His family also shunned him for his involvement with non-Brandz affiliated families, wanting to bring people together the one way he thought every species enjoyed, the love of drink. Hell, his brand was the best no lie...on top of his philanthropy, Polie was quite a man. Shame his fire came to end so soon." complimented Phrin with a grimace, a bit disappointed that such a lovely upstanding person had to be snuffed out before his time. The coroner was a rather intimidating ape, with his face covered by a facemask as he worked on the body.

"Glad we got you here today Francis. You are the best of the best ya know. Anything odd so far?" asked Jaren while Phrin gazed at the body, her eyes noticing something but not quite sure what it was. 10 minutes had passed and so far, there had not been anything new compared to the preliminary report that the body fell a great distance. After about 20 minutes, Phrin's eyes honed in on something once the body had been turned on its back, "What...What is that?...there's several regions of..magical energy. It's incredibly faint but I can just barely make it out." she remarked while pointing to specific areas, Francis raising a brow but just going by what she was saying.

To their surprise, they found something that had not expected, "W-what is this?!..What does this mean!?" growled Francis while slamming his foot on the ground. It was something that normal medical science would be unable to explain, meaning that magic was the only other explanation, "...so Casey is?..Innocent?" asked Jaren while poking Phrin's waist, getting a playful slap to that paw of his. She had hoped to find something to clear his name, but what was the nervous sweat she began to feel go down the back of her neck, "This isn't the type of magic he can do. In fact, I am seeing two levels of magic. One of which is black magic...the other is...I can't quite tell. It's too faint to see. But I know who could probably make it out." she replied while having a finger over her snout, tapping it idly awhile she spoke which was standard when she was in deep thought.

Right when she finished, a loud buzzer soon rang, signaling the 30-minute time limit. That was a bit too fast though Phrin before a group of armed komodo dragons in suits quickly busted the doors down, "Time's up. Please end your autopsy." they ordered, Francis quickly sewing the body back up and relinquishing the body back to them to Phrin's disappointment. If she had more time, she could have found out more to blow this case wise open, "Damn it, so close...but at least we have something...Jaren, I'll get to work. One of my colleagues should be able to help." she replied while patting Jaren's head, a sigh coming from their coroner who also wanted to get to the bottom of this, "Well now; it's up to you and those magic eyes. Shame I have no affinity for magic...would come in handy." remarked Francis as he washed his hands and got himself sanitized, the ape thinking he's reached his limits on what he could do with his hands.

"Magic is useful but tends to backfire. Why do you think I don't use it?" added Phrin, sticking her tongue out playfully at him. It did answer one question as no one ever did see Phrin using magic, though still the prospect of having it was still enticing. Jaren set down her colleague and they walked off, letting Phrin find the underlying cause of the case while he got to work on tracking down Casey. The higher ups were breathing down his neck mostly because he was a dragon, though now he could start writing up why he was innocent. However, another issue came to mind when he arrived at his office, sitting in his plush leather chair and leaning back a bit, "...would they believe me? They may use the species card on me yet again because of Phrin...no. I need to go through with it no matter what." he thought to himself was grabbing his P.I.C. from his desk and getting to work on his report.

Phrin had quite a bit to report to a certain someone, the leading medical and magical professional on the planet. It was still early though, just after 2 pm and just in time for lunch. Her stomach was rumbling for some meat, having bought a nice deli sandwich from a local lizard sandwich stand and going back to her home. Although her office was on the first floor, her home and such was on the second floor of a small building, everything else above wanting rent but the "stench" of a dragon living there has not appealed to anyone wanting to rent out the space for their business. Either way it was fine with her, going into the brick building with the words "Phrin and Fran Law Offices", Fran being on vacation for the time being as there were a massive lack in new cases to prosecute due to the upcoming Smash Clash.

"Least I can be thankful for that. Crime plummets when preliminaries start." she thought to herself as she went inside the dark law offices, the empty desks, free from papers a bit of a relief from how much work she had been doing the weeks before. Even with the drought in business, she saved enough money to survive for at least 2 years without clients due to the extra things she did on the side as well. Once she went upstairs to her home sweet home, entering and shutting the door behind her. The moment she turned back around and to reach for the lights, she felt a chill in the air, a magic kind of chill that made her go on guard. She had her sandwich in a bag in one hand, setting her bag down a few feet from her as to not get it damaged on the off chance something were to happen.

To her surprise, there was ice on the ceiling as she glanced up, and someone laying in her couch, "H-hey! This isn't a place for you to freeload!" she growled, clenching her fist for a bit before realizing that the energy she was feeling was akin to Eurasia, only much colder. Could it be a dragoon? She stepped forward and saw that it was a ninja just sleeping on her couch, raising an eyebrow in confusion as to why this tall and rather fit looking human would just be relaxing in her home. A sudden yawning coming from him made her jump back, knowing that even though he was possibly a dragoon, that didn't mean that he was friendly, "Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn...oh finally. You're back Phrin. I thought you were off today." yawned the stranger, his eyes the only thing visible as the rest of him was covered by his ninja mask.

"I was but---hey wait, how did you know that? You stalking me?" she asked, stepping back and turning the lights on to get a better look at him. As she thought, he really was a ninja, not showing any part of him except the eyes, and his fingers, which were also covered by black gloves. His outfit was all black as well, except for the light blue katana and sheath on his back, "Hmmm...Well asking the ninja if he stalks you. I wonder...not really. I just asked someone who came to visit you before me. He's actually in your room for some odd reason...but meh not my problem. My business is more so related to you than that chump Casey." he replied, seeing Phrin's face turn to horror before sprinting full speed to her room.

The door to her room was open and inside was a complete mess, her shirts, skirts, everything tossed onto the floor. It was bad enough that her purple painted room was a complete mess, her wooden drawers, closet and everything else ransacked, but when she ran in, she found Casey digging his green scaly mitts through her underwear drawer, "!!!!!!" she was just speechless as he turned to her and quickly moved back, holding his hands up in front of him, "W-wait. This isn't what you think! I'm just trying---ack!" before he could even finish, he got a firm jab to his check, knocking him against the east wall and cracking it. Phrin held back enough so it would not break though, the cost of fixing that not something she wanted to deal with just yet but what the hell was he doing.

After a bit of explaining after she cooled down, she made some tea for both of her new guests, making Casey fix her room back up and pulling up a stool for her to sit on. Luckily, Casey was small for a dragon, only being a bit over 7.5 feet tall so he was able to relax on her couch along with this ninja, "So..You're a ninja huh? That's pretty cool. So why did you want to see Phrin?" asked the curious dragon, dressed in a black long sleeved shirt and thick jeans, perfect for the cold weather. This ninja folded his arms and hmphed, not answering his question and focusing on Phrin. His jacket was draped over the couch, the company looking odd since she has not had company in some time, "Well least I know who you are...you're one of Eura's friends aren't you? The dragoon of ice codenamed DarkStar. Though you aren't such a nice guy in the underground scene from what I've heard...What can I do for you?" she asked while sipping her tea, the ninja closing his eyes for a moment before taking his mask off.

He was younger than his build would suggest, being somewhat muscular though, his short straight brown hair and lack of any facial hair gave him a youthful look. Phrin heard that he was supposed to be somewhere in his twenties, but given how old Eura actually is and how he looks, he is more than likely older, "I'm here on the case you're working on. Ironically, this chump is related to it so it is actually good that he's here...or bad. Don't care. I know who murdered the old komodo and this chump's girlfriend." he remarked all nonchalant, Casey's mouth hanging wide open as that was the main reason why he was here. Phrin nearly spat her tea out, the look on her face priceless.

It was rare for her to lose her cool but the prospect of making headway in her case was too much to bare. Casey was about to freak out but he clenched his fists and took a deep breath, "Y-Y-You know who...who.." he stammered, his fingers trembling since he was looking into it himself since he ran out from the courtroom. DarkStar raised a palm to stop the dragon from getting too close, sighing in annoyance since what had happened was rather infuriating for him, "Yea. For starters, the old komodo, I killed him. It was a hit and I was paid handsomely for it." he remarked with any lack of remorse or regret in his tone. Honestly, she should have seen that coming considering he was an assassin for hire, setting her cup down and taking a deep breath.

Normally she would bring the criminal in, though the fact that he was an acquaintance of Eura was stopping her from making a move, "....You know I should bring you in for questioning. Did you kill his daughter too?" he asked while narrowing her eyes at him, that serious part of her starting to show. Casey clenched his fists while growling in anger as he had been looking for clues to his lover's killer. He merely shrugged under the glare of both of them, shaking his head while smirking in defiance, "Sorry but no. That young chubby scaled girl was not my doing. I went back and found her dead, along with the new circumstances around the old fart's death. I will not forgive anyone who disturbs my targets...and I'm close to tracking down who did the deed. You're free to come along chump but you will more than likely die." he said with a very intimidating glare to Casey, feeling that bloodlust seeping out from this human which made him hesitant for a second before shaking his head.

Darkstar was not someone who joked around when it came to battle, preferring that weaklings stay back and hide in their holes like good little pups. Phrin was worried over who was the real cause, the black magic she found on the body proof that something else was going on, "Well...wait. I think...I want to talk to Abu...and Eura. They can help us get some payback. Moreover, some back up would not be a bad thing. What do you say?" suggested Phrin while cracking her knuckles, sounding almost enthusiastic on letting off some steam. Casey gasped hearing the name "Eura", being raised to be very familiar with that name, "Eura?...as in the dragoon of fire Eurasia? Of the Eurasia family line?!" he asked while raising his eye ridge, Phrin nodding while grabbing the tea cups and going to wash them in the kitchen sink.

"....Eura...hmm..." wondered Darkstar as clenched his fist and looked at it, wondering how he was. Last time he saved his friend's ass from that gator girl and her weird water powers, his fatal weakness since his element was primarily fire. Well a little bit of back up wouldn't hurt he thought, putting his mask back on and standing up once Phrin finished washing up the bit of dishes and drying her hands. Casey seemed to have calmed down a bit, wondering if the stories were true that his family passed down, "I'm going to meet the descendant of the hero...I wonder what type of guy he is. I don't think he released all those bad guys purposely." he pondered as Phrin took a moment to get changed, going from her black dress suit to a deep red dress suit, wanting to look good but still keeping up her looks. With no time to waste, the three teleported to Ruru's basement once he gave clearance.

Michael was the most shocked seeing the ice ninja Darkstar, who seemed a little uncomfortable out with all the attention on him, "Yo dude, where the fuck you been?" asked Ruru as he shook his hand, the two taking a bit to catch up as Phrin and Casey took their moment to explain to Michael and the rest. Casey was shocked to find two very attractive looking dragonesses, also looking strong as he could feel in their grip. Abu was well aware of the court case since someone of the Wellington family was involved but he had more important things to focus on at that time, "...Hmm...Still doing the whole murdering thing. I told you that it isn't worth it. You're going to be backstabbed by those ass-sassiness if you fuck up. No one hates you so much when you're bringing them their crap so my number of enemies is pretty low." explained Ruru as they chewed the fat, Abu clearing his throat once the formalities were out of the way.

There was not much eats left in the food crate, Abu offering his guests the backup deli sandwiches he got in case the dragoon of fire was still hungry. Everyone huddled around to discuss the next COA, Abu grabbing his P.I.C. and firing up the old 3d holographic screen with a bullet point of things to do, "So DarkStar, you're telling me you narrowed down the location of this "credit stealing chump" to Amtenortem. We actually do have business there today amazingly. However...with the Smash Clash coming up, I do not think we have the time to follow up with this. We already don't have much of time to prepare for it and getting the V-bot is a top priority." exclaimed Abu, making Phrin suck her teeth in disappointment hearing that Abu probably will not help them. Darkstar shrugged and did not expect much from the teacher's pet of the dragoons, Rizan and Shyranrya glancing at each other since they did want to help their fellow dragon.

The dragoon of fire suddenly stood up and shook his head, his crimson hair having grown a bit since things have gotten louder for them, "What are you talking about?! It's in the same city. Of course we will help! They're our friends!" reminded Michael to Abu, the silver haired scientist sighing as he felt that his fellow dragoon did not understand how important it was to win that tournament, "Yes they are, but you want to save your brother right? At your level, you will never win that tournament! You haven't forgotten what's at stake here have you?!" asked Abu in annoyance as he adjusted his glasses as Michael shook his head, "Of course not, but we never turn down our friends! If this will take some time from my training, I'll just train harder! Abyssion...Jeff said that we never should turn our backs to friends in need. All the training in the world is pointless if you can't help or protect those close to you."

Shyranrya was not surprised at her dragoon's display of concern for his friends, Rizan shivering from that display of manliness. Casey rubbed his snout and stood up as well, getting the two dragoons' attention as he gave a small clap, "Wow, that's impressive right there. I can see how you are part of the Eurasia line. My family passed down you are not only fearless but with care like no other. Your brother though...he doesn't have your family name does he?" he asked out of curiosity, Michael thinking for a bit and forgetting about Abu for the moment, "No, he's just Jeff as far as I know. But he's been with me since I was little and told me that I'm his little brother who he'd always keep safe."

Darkstar glanced up for a moment hearing that statement, thinking to his objective for a bit and shaking his head with a sigh, "A big brother is supposed to keep his little brother safe...but even he betrayed you didn't he? I recall him working with N.D. for quite some time." reminded Michael and everyone else, the dragoon of fire being shut up for a moment, before clenching his fist, "It's...it's not that simple. I realize that now. He worked with N.D. for some reason, and even now, he is looking out for me. There can't be any other reason if he left his battle data for us to use!" he argued, getting an eye raise from Darkstar before simply shrugging. He figured more had happened since he last saw him and honestly, it was not important how he felt about his naive friend's objectives.

"Ahem, anyway...since Eura is stubborn as hell, we'll attack both objectives then. We will send a team to pick up the v-bot, then investigate the perpetrators...Eura, I think you wanted to play delivery boy? Since you're tired of crazy scary missions from the big bad Abu." sarcastically suggested after clearing his throat to get everyone's attention. Michael merely gave him a bah with a nod, knowing he was not wrong in wanting to help his friends. Phrin quickly jumped up and held the dragoon by his hand, making him jump up in surprise, "Alright then. I'll go with Eura! I've been to Amtenortem before, so I could show him where to go." she volunteered, Michael giving a nod in agreement. Rizan narrowed her eyes slightly from how fast the Phrin seemed to jump up at the chance to be with Eura, though Shyranrya patted her friend on the shoulder to help relax her.

Ruru however was a bit skeptical, folding his arms and shaking his head in disagreement over the group choice, "Hey, I should probably go too. Shit always happens--hey!" but Abu cut him off by pressing his hand against his chest and pushing him back a bit, "No, this honestly is very simple. Do not need a flash mob picking up one thing. I need you here with the rest to locate our target." he exclaimed, getting an "eh" from Ruru who did not feel like arguing. Abu turned to look at the ninja dragoon while typing something on his P.I.C., "Darkstar, give me all the information you have and we'll get to work. You're a smart guy Ruru, so back me up." he ordered, trying to get things going to avoid staying angry at Michael's "stubbornness".

"Right, just...let me get changed. Rizan messed up my clothes something fierce." he said while smiling at Rizan, getting a smirk and a wink back as he ran off to get into a different change of clothes. Least that explained why his clothes seemed to be tattered and torn, going over to the two dragonesses in the meantime while the other dragoons began sharing information around the holographic screen showing a map of Amtenortem, "Glad to see you two are doing well. I'm sorry I can't join you for this...I owe Eura a lot and I'd like to make N.D. pay for what he's done to our kind." she complimented while giving a sad sigh. She was strong but at this rate, she would not be any use to them after their training. Shyranrya chuckled and appreciated her support at least, "No worries. It probably will be awhile but Eurasia is determined to stop him. You'll be there to cheer for us though right?" she asked with a nice motherly smile, still remaining calm and hopeful for the future. She was quite tiny compared to Shyranrya, thinking that this is how she was viewed a long time ago at her previous size.

The tournament was supposed to be the best of the best, and after encountering the enemies they have fought so far their chances were not very high. Rizan stood up and cleared her throat, looking at Phrin who was barely up to her stomach, "Make sure nothing happens to our Eura. Our luck hasn't been the best...well we'll probably join you later when Abu finds out about whoever you're searching for." she said while narrowing her eyes, Phrin giving a sly smirk and putting her hands on her hips, "I'll keep a close eye on him, I promise. I'll hold his hand too as we walk to the place." replied the blue dragoness while sticking her tongue out, Rizan's left eye twitching from her jealousy radar going wild.

"Oh relax, I'm kidding. He has shown no interest in me and always seems to be respectful. I know he loves you two though...so I do swear to bring him back to you in one piece. His naivetés is something to appreciate in a man though." complimented Phrin with a smile, Rizan closing her eyes and nodding with a smile. Almost immediately, Michael came running back, having changed into a new pair of blue jeans, and his classic wolf shirt, having missed wearing it after all this time, "Sorry sorry! I'm all ready!" he shouted as he came back, hating to hold anyone up when there were things to be done. He also made sure to wrap his right hand up with gray bandages as usual, needing to keep his dragoon spirit hidden from view.

"Alright, I sent you the coordinates Phrin. You are to pick up the V-bot from a Mr Lectoreem. The transfer codes are also included with the coordinates. We should have something by the time you return...hopefully. Remember, be quick, and do not waste time. You're a prime target now Eura, so keep a low profile." ordered Abu as he sorted through the data he was handed by DarkStar, Phrin checking her P.I.C. and giving a thumbs up. Something like this should be very simple that even Eura could not get himself into any sticky situation. Not to mention he had back up of a dragoness just a level below Rizan and Shyranrya.

The two disappeared in a flash of light, leaving everyone else to help Abu in his search. Casey was forced to sit and relax until there was a breakthrough in the manhunt, minutes whizzing by while Ruru and Abu both worked to weed out dead ends. Since Rizan and Shyranrya were not given anything to do, they spoke about relevant interests during their break, "You saw the latest Scalebook? They're going to post an exclusive interview with "you-know-who" next week. They promised shirtless!" asked Rizan to Shyranrya, giving a light gasp and bringing a hand to her lips, "You mean?...Za---!" before she could continue, Abu cleared his throat, catching them both off guard since he saw that they were slacking, "Hey, girl talk later, help us now." ordered the silver eyed human, Rizan sucking her teeth and nodding.

Casey looked up when he heard a whistle, Abu tossing him a green P.I.C. and gesturing him to press the screen, "Casey, I want you with the girls to focus on the surveillance footage and let me know if there's anything. Live feed at Amtenortem...so we can at least keep an eye on Eurasia. I also have him and Phrin's P.I.C. on speed dial if need be." he explained while still typing on the virtual keyboards hovering above his P.I.C. which was resting on a small table in front of him. Shyranrya leaned forward and saw one screen in specific that she wanted to keep an eye on, the P.I.C. revealing 10 different screens. With a two claws, she increased its size, seeing the view of the small town, "Ooooh..this is a cute looking town. Nothing like the metropolis Saint Falda is..." she remarked as she noticed there were no skyscrapers in the least. The buildings were probably 3 - 5 stories tall, the town not that populated either.

Rizan had a view of downtown, with Casey keeping track of uptown, which was somewhat boring. After about 30 minutes of boring staring, Rizan yawned and was feeling that it was just pointless. Abu was getting close to narrowing down the location of their target before stopping his typing for a moment and looking up, "?...Oh, Fyre. Good to see you." he suddenly remarked, making Ruru raise an eyebrow before getting his head pounced by a cat sized dragon. Unlike Eura who would normally fall over in shock, the dragoon of wind was unphased and looked up at a pouting dragoness, "Awwww! You're no fun! Yaaaaaaaaawn I'm back from my nap...did I miss much?" she asked with a cute tone, getting a petting to her back from ruru which made her growl in delight.

"That was a nap?...you were out for like 4 days. But not really. We're just looking to kick some ass of some people who murdered someone that my friend here murdered. Did you find anything on your search for the other dragons?" he asked, knowing that she was looking around the planet for any other dragons like herself who have awoken from their slumber. She was the first one but she kept herself hidden, knowing that the others were doing the same with N.D. being active around the planet. It would be a great advantage in their favor if more elemental dragons were ready to fight with their fated partners, "I felt something but it vanished rather quickly when I was flying over a small town to the east." she replied, giving the human's hand a nip since she actually enjoyed the petting to her scales.

"!!!! What the! ABU!" shouted Rizan, making everyone turn around in shock and seeing a flash of light coming from the surveillance cameras. Casey and Shryranya's screen were doing the same, the whole group running over before every screens turned to pure static. Abu sprinted back to his P.I.C. and saw both the signals for the P.I.C.s and their biosigns disappear. He had no clue what could have happened, his P.I.C. not detecting anything unusual from the city. The dragoon of wind suddenly shook his geek friend, reminding him of the point he was trying to make earlier, "What the hell? See! I fucking told you dude! You're bad news!" exclaimed Ruru, not seeing anything on the screens and getting a glare from Abu. Fyre closed her eyes to try and reach the dragoon mentally, finding that the connection to him had been severed, "I can't...reach him either...he can't be.." wondered the little dragoness with extreme concern in her voice.

The worry damping the air did not stop Abu from getting to work on restoring the feed; retrying the server connection and managing to get the picture back up after about 4 minutes. The static cleared up and the city came back into view, "...No structural damage--wait! Everyone..." commented Abu, the semi busy town now a ghost town, with people all collapsed on the floor. He zoomed the camera on a corner, focusing on three people who seemed to have fallen on each other. Three humans, unmoving before springing right up with loud hissing and what looked like wrinkled green skin, "?....What the hell? Zombies?" asked Ruru with confusion and a bit of concern, the other screens showing various townsfolk of various species standing up and starting to wobble around.

to be continued....
