The derpy page is back! I tried fixing it but to no avail, but maybe the derp is for me only. Maybe my laptop still holds a grudge for one of the many ways I have put it at risk.

Chapter 1- The Beginning

Victor Qorat

"Dr. Qorat to genetics lab DNA vaults. Please have specimen K-Delta delivered to splicing chamber immediately."

I am Victor Qorat. I am a scientist in the WorldWide Genome Project. My primary field of study is Canis Lupis, or the grey wolf. My story however, is much more remarkable than simple DNA analysis. It all started this fateful day of December 6, 2014, during a seemingly routine genetic splice simulation, designed to test weither or not humans could receive traits such as advanced hearing, smell, and speed from being given a triple helix of DNA from a wolf's DNA molecules through radioactive fusion. I had already warmed up the System with my normal morning routine, playing Galaga before anyone else got to the lab, and was waiting for the latest batch of samples. Suddenly, a message came through my contact headset," Upkeep to Dr .Qorat, sample shuttles are down. You will have to get it yourself until they are fixed. Oh, one more thing. I know it likes to sniff around the lab, but keep your dog away from the cafeteria. Damn thing ate my leftover pizza."

"Cool it Carrie, he just gets hungry sometimes. Tell him to go to master. Also, he is not a dog, he's a wolfdog. There is a difference. He is more likely to eat you, and his name is Woofie."

"WAIT WHAT?"

"You heard me."

"HE'S ON HIS WAY TO YOU RIGHT NOW. SIGNING OFF"

I leaned back in my swivel chair and chuckled. I always enjoyed messing with Carrie, though this time it was true, if I gave the right command he would have killed and eaten her on the spot. Not that I would have.

My office was small, yet cozy. My desk was a plain metallic grey, with two drawers on the right, and one on the top. My desktop computer was a brand new, custom built flat screen with state of the art software and a high speed internet connection. The desk was covered with little knickknacks of wolves and other canines, and a small dragon figure. My chair was black, had a net back, red trim, and a soft cushion. On my computer, my empty SoFurry story page seemed to taunt me. I was working on a story, but didn't quite have much finished. Someday I suppose.

I stood up and looked down at my clothes. My labcoat was its usual crisp clean white, and my black pants seemed to be spotless as well.

That'll change when Woofie finds me. Dirty little pup. Ah, but I love him.

I turned toward my door to find it was closed, which was unusual, because I always left it open for Woofie.

_Weird. Maybe someone was pushing a cart and it shut it. Wait... nobody has any reason to push a cart past my office. It's at the end of a dead end hall. _

This in mind, I opened the door and stepped out into the hall and was immediately struck with the smell of flowers. I looked around for the source, and couldn't find one.

Weirder and Weirder...

I took a few seconds to look at the hall. It was grey and dull, with light blue office doors lining both sides.

Off we go....

Chap.2- The Vile Vial Victor Qorat

_We're off to get a vial, a wonderful vial blood... _

I walked down the hall toward the stairs, still contemplating the strange events in my office, coming to no conclusions. I decided to just disregard it all as nothing.

I began walking down the stairs quickly, as I hoped to get this all over quickly. My research had only ever led to the smallest, least profitable, results. The most it had done was get me some pitiful pats on the back from my supervisor. He only kept me employed because he was hoping something useful would come up from my work. It never has. Probably never will.

I went to the DNA vault floor, B-9, and opened the door, and was immediately struck with an immense understanding of the sample shuttle problem.

The smell of blood was everywhere. Glass shards littered the floor, and as I looked around awestruck, I saw the sample sending conveyer was in high power reverse, and must have been sending samples to the failed test vaults, otherwise the whole laboratory would have been in a state of horrible panic. The marble floor and concrete walls seemed somehow to be radiating a sense of unease.

I heard the steady sound of paws running toward me from my left and turned to see Woofie running at me. His tongue was lolling and pizza sauce was around his mouth. His grey fur was almost the same color as the walls, and the small patch of black fur around his left eye the only part of him that was clear against the walls. He jumped on me, knocking me down, and began licking my face.

"Stop it! Stop! Get off! Woofie!"

"Having trouble, Dr. Qorat?"

Woofie jumped off me to see who was talking, and I quickly rose to my feet. My labcoat and pants now smudged with dirt and sauce, seemed unlikely to know the crisp clean it had moments ago anytime that Woofie was around, so I really don't know why I ever wash it. Formality, I suppose.

"Mr. Lore , I um... came for the K- Delta DNA samples and-"

"Your dog attacked you?"

"More or less."

Mr. Lore was the main guard for the vaults, and good at it too. He usually stands in the three way intersection between the cafeteria, vault entrance, and main server room, though it seemed he was patrolling the vault perimeter. His warm smile was somewhat of a misnomer, as he always held his gun at the ready. He had a grey baseball hat on, though it could not hide his messy red hair, and his blue eyes seemed to be calculating every little detail of what was happening. He had a black coat on, and blue jeans with blood around the ankles.

"Mr. Lore, could you tell me exactly what happened here?"

He grimaced, and pointed at Woofie, "That stupid dog happened. Came here with a few others and started wrecking the place. So, unless you can give me a good defense for his behavior, he will be removed from the facility immediately, and you as well."

"What? Woofie was wrecking the samples? What on earth are you talking about?"

He grabbed my shirt collar and pulled his gun close to my face. "YOU HEARD ME! NOW TELL ME, WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR? WHY DID YOU HAVE THAT MUTT TRASH THESE SAMPLES?"

"Please, I don't know what you're talking about! I would never want the samples trashed! My income depends on wheither or not we have samples at all! Put down the gun!"

Suddenly, I heard a door open and someone started yelling.

"Lore, put him down! He had nothing to do with this!"

Lore released me, and I immediately turned to see who had entered. A strange man was standing in the door, with a strange mask on. It had no eyes or mouth, yet he acted as though he could see through it. He was wearing a black suit and red tie. He put his hand on Lore's shoulder and whispered something in his ear. Lore turned a sickly green color, and looked at me with a horrible expression.

"Dr., look into the blood, and tell me exactly what it is you see." "What?"

"Look at it."

I looked into the large pool of liquid crimson before me and jumped back immediately. In the center of the pool were a few wispy words- You must destroy that Vile Vial.

Chap.3- Awakening

"Gah!"

I jumped to my paws, screaming wildly.

"Where am I? What's going on? Someone answer please!"

I spun around wildly, my eyes closed, and mind still not good at comprehending their new state of being.

I heard a man's voice, "Victor! Victor! Calm down! You are behaving like a pup! Damn it man, shut up!"

I couldn't help it, I felt terrified. My head was throbbing, my heart racing, and this confusion I should have been used to only made me want to scream louder.

I felt someone knock me down onto my back and climb on top of me, then I felt their breath on the back of my neck.

"Victor stop struggling or I will drag you out of here like a pup and drown you in the lake!"

I started to struggle less and less, then eventually stopped and began whimpering quietly, knowing full well that this wasn't over when I stopped..

"I am sorry, master! I am sorry!"

"Sorry will get you nowhere with me."

I felt him release me, but I didn't stand. I couldn't if I wanted to.

"Victor, you know that these things, these... visions, will cease the moment that you let go of the past and move onward, yet you still can't let go. Tell me, is it because you don't believe this all? Is that why you stay here, with closed eyes, waiting to wake up?"

Why was he so sympathetic all of the sudden? This wasn't normal for him.

"Master, all of this, the things I have seen, what I felt and what has become of me... it can't be possible. It must be a dream."

"If this was a dream, could you not simply wish me away? I know that you want nothing more than that, and that you think I don't understand your pain, and I don't understand, but I stay because I want you to be calm, to learn to accept this place and these things so that you can live on in full peace with these new surroundings. Surely, a scientist such as yourself is logical enough to know that this cannot be a dream."

I felt more scared than ever, sympathy from this person was inconsistent with everything I knew about him. But I knew he was right.

I slowly opened my eyes.
