Silent is golden
** Danielle passed a paper to the shop assistant, he read through roughly and led Danielle to the proper rack. Danielle smiled at him, he nodded with a smile and returned to the cashier counter.**
** Shelves after shelves were stocked with cans, packets, bottles and tins of common items liked milk, beverages, sweets etc. the salesgirls seemed very busy stacking the goods onto the shelves. Shoppers seemed very busy removing them from the shelves.**
** Danielle picked up one pack of Marigold Milk as they liked to drink milk. She also chose a pack of homemade chicken, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms and canned bamboo shoots to make Cantonese-style Hot and Sour Soup.**
Satisfied, he proceeded to the anthro counter. The cashier scanned all items and the screen showed the amount she has to pay. She scanned her right paw and the screen showed 'Danielle, female fox, please enter your code and scan again.' After entering the correct code and re-scanning her right paw; the printer began to print out a receipt. The assistant cashier helped Danielle to bag all items, "Thank you, please come again," she said with a professional smile and Danielle nodded with a smile. The bag was quite heavy but Danielle picked them up effortlessly.
Danielle checked her watch and decided to go to the food court. After she sat down, a wolf passed her a menu. The wolf stood beside her and waited for her to order food. Danielle gave him 'I am waiting for someone' gestures but he did not understand. A human woman approached the wolf and asked him to return to shop. "She is waiting for her husband," she explained.
"Why didn't she tell me so?"
"Because they are muted."
"They?"
"She and her husband - Daniel - were childhood sweethearts. Sadly when they were twenty, they fall sick and the next day suddenly became muted. You are new here, that's why you don't know."

** Daniel checked his watch, it was almost one o'clock. He logged out from his PC and left the room. Many people greeted him and he smiled back at them. Daniel wagged his white tip bushy tail and ears unconsciously when he was happy. The sliding glass doors swish opened as he stepped near them. As he walked in to the inside, the volume of sound changed. He could hear people chattering and kids screaming.**
** Outside his office was a small shopping mall. Men sitting around bored, whilst wives ran around everywhere, looking at 'sales' in shoes, clothes, handbags, make-up, etc. and then returning to the first shop they looked at. Daniel giggled, luckily his wife did not like shopping.**
** Stepping inside to the food court, the first thing that hit Daniel was the smell. His fox nose smelled the mixed greasy aromas, together in one heavy, thick smell that crawled into his pores. It was a clean bright, modern decorative indoor place. He found his wife sitting at the corner and reading a book. She was a near copy of himself,** the only difference that was obvious was the color - she was yellow and he was blue. He sat down in front of her and she quickly closed the book.
** After taking orders, Danielle showed her husband the book. She pointed at the Cantonese-style Hot and Sour Soup picture and her husband gave her a thumb-up. She showed him the Marigold Milk and he gave her two thumbs-up.**
** The wolf waiter pretended did not see them and walked away, trying not to giggle, "Foxes liked to drink milk?" He murmured.**
Soon the two foxes were eating fried rice quietly. To some strangers, they looked like a couple having cold wars.

** That same night, both Daniel and Danielle were sleeping when they visioned a bright light. "You're a loving couple. I've decided to restore your voice, you can speak like normal people from now on." They heard the sweet voice but did not see anyone or anything.**
** The next morning, Daniel and Danielle were excited and began to talk about anything.**
** However their happiness did not last for three months.**
They often quarreled with each other about trifles.
"Honey, for the past ten years we never quarreled before, but why..." Daniel scratched his fox head slowly.
"Darling, I also don't want to quarrel but...I just can't control my muzzle..." Danielle also scratched her fox head slowly.
"Honey, why don't we ask the same girl to mute us again?"
"Darling, on the whole, I'm in favour of the proposal."
** That night, they visioned the same dream and light again.**
** "Please mute us again," Danielle said, her eyes gleaming with emotion.**
** "Are you sure about that?"**
** "Positive. We won't quarrel if we're muted," Daniel replied with total conviction.**
** "OK, as you Guardian, call me again when you need me."**
** The next morning, Daniel and Danielle became muted again. But they never quarreled anymore. As the years went by they had their share of disagreements but they managed to solve the issues calmly.**

** If you were muted, you would not be able to argue, and thus your marriage could last longer.**
