#1 of Wolves

Tenebris is a place I created a long time ago. It's the magical land of mine and this is also a backstory for my book (written in norwegian so I won't be posting that)!

I hope you enjoy it! Do you think anthro were born this way too?

When the land of Tenebris was still fresh from the making, and the humans were born out of the sea. When dwarves came out of the stones, and the dragons flew from the moon. When elves ruled the world, and the world was ruled easily. This is not when the werewolves were made. No, the wolves were made when the second moon fell and a white dragon came out of it. But this was just the start of how and why the werewolves were born. It all started in a small village...

It was a village of farmers and woodcutters. There weren't many people there, because the land was fresh and it was placed in the middle of a thick forest. The villagers were all humans, but a special kind of humans. They never went out to trade to another village, because they knew that their ways were not the same. In this village wolves of many sizes and races lived alongside humans. They would often help the humans and the humans would help the wolves. They were all equals, and if a human tried to best a wolf he or she would be banished into the woods.

No one knows when they started living together or for how long it had lasted. No one knew why so many races were in one place. And no one really cared because everyone was happy. But the thing with happiness is that it never lasts.

One winter, when all the humans and all the wolves were gathered in the middle of the village square, an army of humans came passing by. They stopped and looked at the wolves in many sizes and colors and asked how they had managed to get them all to listen and be so well behaved. The villagers didn't know how to answer, because they though of themselves as equals to the wolves. So the army asked if they could buy some of them. To this the villagers laughed. _Why would anyone sell a family member? _They thought. The army then told them that they needed the one thing elves couldn't cure themselves from: a bite from a wolf. You see, they were at war and they really wanted to get back in one piece. The villagers couldn't do it because they were not _dogs. _The now angry army vanished out of their sight, but they swore they would avenge their deaths. And they did.

After they all died, and it wasn't with honor, because they had fought about the village in between (ergo the village with the wolves), the elves came marching south to the peaceful villagers place. The winter was harsh and cold so they couldn't march as fast as they wanted. It was by accident that a party of hunters saw one of them approach. After remembering what the army of humans had suggested they hurried back to warn the others.

They all met at the square again and began discussing the possibilities about what the elves wanted. Was is the wolves like the other army? Or were they going to kill the wolves to destroy the enemy? They decided to send the wolves into the woods to hide. And the wolves did so.

When the army of elves came passing by they were pleased to see everyone, young and old, gathered in the middle of the village. Thinking this was the enemies village (the army they had just fought) they burned down the houses while others started killing the innocent. All the villagers were confused, but they didn't mind dying if it was for the wolves. The army left as fast as they came. Leaving injured and dying people on a white bed wet with the blood of the innocent.

The wolves came back as soon as they felt the mixture of blood and fire in the air. They ran into the village with cries of pain and despair. Not knowing what to do they laid down beside their closest friends and family and started licking the wounds.

Remember the white dragon born from the moon? Well, he's the protector of peace. Or at least he tries in vain, because his children are always fighting. But when he heard the cries of the wolves and saw the fire in the winter, he came down to them.

His ancient eyes were filled with tears as he felt the pain and anger of the wolves. He saw no way of helping the dying but one... One thing he had never though of doing before now. He knew that if he waited much longer they would all freeze to death and the wolves would die of sadness as they often did in those days.

With all his magical powers he melted the souls of the injured with strong wolves. He melted their bodies and minds. They were no longer just humans or just wolves, they were a mixture of both. A wolf standing on his back legs with human- like anatomy speaking out loud in human tongue, yet they could understand other animals.

But there was one problem with the new being. They could _switch back _to their human forms if they wanted to. Though they were much weaker in their human forms they could now melt in with other humans so they were not made outcasts.

They became the only being strong enough to kill an elf one on one. But the real reason why they are deadly enemies is because the wolves inside the humans could never forget the pain of seeing their friends die.

And that is why there exists werewolves in the land of Tenebris.
