Tunbear

Dedenne, an electric/fairy type Pokemon, finally gets the courage to propose to his long time friend, and secret crush, Floette. But, what will happen when a giant monster appears in the city and threatens their very existence?

-"Floette, there's something I want to ask you."

-"What is it?"

This was the moment that Dedenne had been waiting for. With time things change, Pokemon evolve, but he was sure that they'd be able to overcome anything that came their way and he could no longer stand the thought of spending another moment of his life without her.

-"Well, you know, we've known each other for a very long time. And, well, I'd like to, no, I'd be honored if y--"

The city fell silent along with him as the traffic came to a halt; the only sounds that could be heard were those of the earth shaking and windows cracking. The timing of the tremors meant that it wasn't an earthquake, but the electric Pokemon would have given everything for it to be the case. It didn't take much longer before the city's alarm started to roar and they realized what was really happening.

It was a level 2 alarm, Tunbear had been sighted nearby.

The city erupted in chaos and every Kricketot, Roselia, Linoone, and any other Pokemon nearby ran to the nearest shelter as the tremors started getting louder and stronger. The Dedenne looked at the Floette but, before he could hold her and run away, a sea of escaping Pokemon blocked his way .

-"Dede!" the Floette cried while being swept away by the crowd.

-"Floette!" the Dedenne said, seeing the love of his life get away . He desperately tried to reach her, but he staggered before doing so due to a particularly big tremor and lost sight of her. By the time the crowd had cleared, he was the only one still in the street. He cursed his luck, but he had to find her now, no stupid bear would get in his way.

The mouse Pokemon needed to get a grip on himself if he wanted to find her, but, before he could even stand up, a piece of debris went over him barely missing him. He turned around to the direction from where it came while slowly realizing that he was under a big shadow.

The bluish white fur.

The icicle beard.

The shaggy taint.

It was Tunbear, and, worst of all, it was looking at him. The Dedene could not believe his eyes and only managed to snap out of it when he saw the monster's black pads getting closer to him. He had to get away.

The mouse Pokemon ran as fast as he could, the monster hot on his trail, looking for a place to hide. But where could he hide from the all-reaching vision of a monster the size of a building? No place would help him get away or protect him, and the few that looked good were destroyed as soon as the monster gazed at them, sometimes almost crushing the Dedenne as he tried to get to them. The thought that he was just a plaything to the bear Pokemon and that he was only still alive for its amusement never crossed his mind.

However, playtime was over for the little mouse. A combination of lack of strength and a cracked street made him trip while on his futile attempt to escape. He turned back only to be welcomed by the sight of the hind paw of the beast getting closer, a smirk on its face. He wouldn't be able to get away this time.

This can't be real, the Dedenne thought, but the only thing he could do know was close his eyes and wait to become nothing more than a stain in the paw of the great, the almighty, the only-

-"CUT! CUT! CUT!" a Smeargle nearby shouted, "just what do you think you're doing Beartic?"

-"Well, I was going to stomp on him."

-"Yes, I noticed," the Smeargle sighed, "now, why would you do that when a) we're not getting a good angle and more importantly b) you could hurt someone?"

That's the point, the bear Pokemon thought.

As if being an ice Pokemon constantly assaulted by a reflector was not uncomfortable enough, he now had to wait on one foot while the Dedenne was replaced by a Ditto and the Smeargle was done with rearranging the illumination and cameras.

-"And... ACTION!"

The bear didn't like this part of his job, but it had to be done and he proceeded to step on the stunt. While the feeling of the ditto being squashed beneath him and conforming to his foot's shape was pleasant, he would have preferred if it had been the mouse from earlier or even just a bereted, demanding artist wannabe.

-"No, no, no."-- The Smeargle stood up and walked towards the Beartic-- "what kind of lame-ass trample was that? Again."

The Beartic didn't have to obey the runt but still, him being a people-pleaser, he stomped so hard that he could even feel the beret gushing through his fingers . It'd hurt the one under him, and the stunt double taking his place, but that's show business for you.

-"There, that's better. And before we continue, Beart-"

-"Tunbear," the Beartic interrupted.

-"...Tunbear"-- the bear smirked-- "I don't want you to get carried away, remember what happened last time?"

The Beartic clearly remembered how he had almost eaten an extra while they were filming the previous movie. He would never admit it, but he was grateful with the Smeargle for stopping him since that's the kind of scandal that could ruin a movie and the lives of everyone in it.

-"What can I say? I'm a method actor and I need to get in-character." The Beartic partially lied. It was true that he could get into a menacing and dominant persona, but that had more to do with his own wishes than with acting. The power rush that he felt as the puny beings scrambled around his feet and the fear they felt of knowing that their lives could be ended at any moment the moment the giant's mercy ran out was something he could only properly get at the movie set. He had worked hard enough to fulfill his dream and it was not going anywhere soon.

-"If you were that good, you wouldn't be playing this role. We should have gone with CGI, no matter how much of 'fad' you think it is." The Smeargle sighed again, "Just... don't get carried away and be careful where you throw the buildings, someone could get hurt." He returned to his seat, "Let's continue."

Now that the half-size runt was gone, the Beartic returned to trashing the city, but where to start? Crushing the nearby houses would be nice, but it was so easy that the feeling never lasted long. He needed a challenge, so he was quite happy once he found a building not so far away that was tall enough to at least be a sort of challenge.

When he stood next to the building, he couldn't help to smile a little at the "tall" building. It barely even reached the bear's muzzle, yet it likely was the best thing that the tinies could manage to do. It'd probably be for an important company who could afford having such an "imposing" symbol to compensate their lack of presence, a fact that he would gladly help them remember. The Beartic glowed red as he gathered all his strength before applying it to the building and ripping it in half, the smoke from the explosives in it being a testament of his power, but that wouldn't be all. He threw the half he still had in his arms and transferred what he had left of his strength towards one hand, it wasn't even worth it to use both of them, and chopped the remnants of the building.

The Beartic resigned himself to having to make do with destroying the ankle-height houses next as he stood under the rain of rubble, but something else caught his attention. The petty citizens seemed to have made an even bigger building in their insignificant city and, by the looks of it, they had even dared to make it twice his size or even more. The bear could not let such a show of disrespect stand around, thus he made his way to the building, not before taking a detour to destroy a school that was in the way just to feel the ant-sized children inside crumble under his weight.

When he got next to the building, which he could easily destroy in just one attack, he decided that he'd take his time with it. First he stomped on the ground hard enough to send a shockwave but not enough to make the building fall, and watched as the windows started cracking one after another. He could imagine all the people inside praying to him so that the Beartic'd spare their lives, but they should have thought about that before showcasing such a blatant challenge at him. He then gathered his strength again, this time glowing with a pale blue light, and gave the building a hit for each floor it had, freezing it in place when it seemed to be giving in, before nothing was left of it.

A short move of hand signaled a squad of dragon types to go after him. The Beartic appreciated the gesture since he liked to remind their type how insignificant they were compared to him. He gathered his breath before releasing it with small shards of ice that would eventually become icicles, felling most of the dragons. However, a Dragonite managed to get close to him, something it'd come to regret as it was captured. Its squishy feeling told the bear that it had to be a Ditto and he didn't have to go easy on them.

He held the dragon-ditto to the ground with one hand and surrounded his other hand with a small layer of ice before using it to knock out his prey. A second squad went toward him and this time the Beartic decided to get rid of all of them at the same time. He gathered a small amount of energy in his mouth and fired it towards the squad, decimating them along with a huge part of the city.

-"TUNBEAR!" he roared. Now that the small, but entertaining, annoyances had been dealt with and the city had nothing else to keep him occupied; the Beartic claimed this land as his, and he would do with it as he pleased.

-"And... cut. That will be all for today." The Smeargle said. He stood up and approached the Beartic while being followed by a dragon, this one not as small as the previous ones. "Beartic, Tyrantrum. He'll be the one in the Primal Groudon costume for your fight tomorrow; I'll leave you two to get to know each other better."

-"Hi, nice to meet you!" The Tyrantrum said, extending one of his hands towards the Beartic, "my kids love your movies."

-"Hahah! You should bring them to the set one of these days. I could stomp on them if you want."

"Would you really do that? Thank you... Tunbear."

"Heh"-- the Beartic tightly held the dragon Pokemon's hand-- "I think you and I will get along quite well."
