#4 of Hero Academy

Here is the fourth installement of Hero Academy.

I think i'm starting to get a better footing in this.

Anyway, something is going bump in the night it seems. Joshua keeps going down a path with an unknown

destination and Noxfire seems to suspect something.

Mostly this is character development again but i try to fit in more other stuff as well.

Once again you shouldn't read if under the age of consent and all that as there is some stuff

involving guys doing it with each other... i think.

Leave some comments if you will if you have advice for me on how to get better.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It's first thoughts were that only moments had past since it was aware of itself.

Where was it? When? ...who?

It wasn't sure of anything, trying to understand what exactly it was.

One thing was clear at least, it was in a busy place, although nothing seemed to move

too fast for comprehension, everything seemed to be abuzz with activity.

Maybe one of these sources of activity could help make sense of this? Surely it was

worth a try.

Those sources were weird in their own right, balls of light rushing on what looked like

predifined routes made up of straight lines and sharp turns.

As it tried to approach one of the light balls it could feel a tingling all over itself and...

The feeling was... unexpected, it felt like there was some connection to the ball of light,

just for a few split seconds, before there seemed to be knowledge just appearing in its mind.

This was a strange place indeed, but it knew things now, nothing that helped it with its

situation, but it still knew new things and that was useful in it's own right.

Perhaps it could learn something about this place if it absorbed more knowledge,

the ball of light didn't seem to mind, had rushed away almost the instance the transfer

had happened.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A sip of tea before Noxfire slowly looked up, examining the student in front of him.

The tiger looked odd, a mixture of being nervous and relaxed at the same time on his face.

What had brought up the situation may have been nothing, it could've been Noxfires imagination,

he was on edge himself for a while now after all.

He took another sip before he finally raised his voice.

'The reason i wanted to talk,' he began, the tigers attention focused on him almost in an instant.

'You... made quite some progress the last few times, didn't you?'

Did he have to be this cautious? Normally he wasn't one to pussyfoot around but this... if his

suspicion should proof to be warrented.

-I... uh...yes, but that's good, isn't it?-

Nicholai still seemed nervous, understandably so, while the lion in front of him wasn't one of the

most strict teachers, he was intimidating if he wanted to be.

'It's just a bit sudden you see? Not that you were without progress so far, but it just seems like quite

a sudden leap.'

A smile appeared on his lips as he tried to look for something that might help him figure out the

relatively recent changes in the tigers behaviour and skill.

-Just... figured out how to train better i guess, Joshua helped me a little the last few weeks.-

'As long as you don't overdo it,- could that be it? As simple a explanation as that?

He wasn't satisfied with the answer but probably wouldn't get further without at least bending

a few rules.

'Magic, even in such limited forms as people on this planet can wield it, is still a little unstable

and dangerous if you aren't precautious.'

Slowly Nicholai seemed to relax more, if that was all the teacher wanted to talk about he at least

hadn't done anything wrong.

-Okay, we're careful, honestly, just a bit of practice with the stuff we learn, you know?-

The tiger returned the smile, although there was that glimmer in his eyes again, Noxfire decided

to not press the issue at the moment, it could be energy building in his body and it wasn't smart

to scare his students.

'Good, good... i'll see you tomorrow in class then, have a good one,' with that he held out a hand.

Nicholai got up, shook the other felines hand and smiled again.

-See you.-

Could it really be that simple? Just a little training. Maybe. Possibly.

But Noxfire still wasn't too sure.

If it had began with the supposed training initiated by Joshua, he had to talk with the boy,

not today, but soon.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

When had he started calling himself 'he'? He wasn't sure, just somewhere along the way he

had felt more comfortable with seeing himself as male.

The light balls still weren't too useful, at least there hadn't been one telling him where exactly

he was.

Still, he learned a lot of new things, useful things, at least he asumed they were useful in the long run.

But maybe... just maybe it was time to move on from this place, it couldn't be the only thing, else

the light balls would be coming from nothing and moving nowhere.

From what he had learned that would be impossible, everything had an origin, everything

simply was in flux, so even he had to be made up of something.

He just hadn't learned what that was so far, hadn't found enough to define himself.

Surely that would change in time.

Determined to find out more about himself he moved onwards, following one of the light balls

on it's strange path.

He would learn more, if nothing else, that was clear.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"So what did he talk about with you?"

Chinese food, maybe japanese? He wasn't sure what exactly it was, fried noodles with shrimp, egg,

some vegetables and chicken.

Didn't taste bad, another packed fork went for his muzzle.

-He was just curious about our training i guess, said i was getting better.-

"Doesn't sound too bad. Mind passing the soy?"

-So, are we training a bit again later?,- the tiger looked up as he passed the soy sauce, smiled a bit.

It had been a bit weird at first, but he and Joshua had become close friends in a pretty short time.

He used his shirt to fan himself a bit, he wasn't used to spicy food.

"Sure, i think i've gotten a bit better again, but first you show me what you learned, hm?"

The foo dog smiled, grinned almost.

For him this was unusual too, but he was a quick learner. Had he had a few doubts at first, now he didn't

feel any, the change had come somewhat natural, now it was almost as if he helped the tiger.

-I think i can summon weapons now, i mean, it's still just ice but it's a nice touch.-

"Just ice? Come on, that from the guy who tried telling me my power was awesome."

In a friendly gesture he ruffled the felines hair a bit, smiled his big smile.

The change in both of them really was subtle, almost unremarkable if you didn't know them well.

It wasn't just that Nicholai had gotten better, and he clearly had as he showed his friend the advances

he made so far.

The tiger didn't just summon simple weapons, he seemed much more focused during the split seconds

he formed them in, the ice seemed clearer, more refined in a way, and colder.

A soft haze flowed from it, condensation building almost instantly as the tiger held the twin falchions

he had just made.

-What do you think? Pretty good, right? Wanna try to use them to cut ice next.-

"Cut...ice?"

-Well, i was thinking, maybe i could get to the point were the blade forms ice where i cut with it, you know?-

"Oh..? ...oooooooh, yeah, i think i get it, could be really useful as long as you don't freeze your opponent to death."

-That's the cool part, touch it,- and with that Nicholai pointed one of the blades at Joshua, glowing with selfconfidence.

The foo dog was a bit sceptical at first but then lifted a hand and touched the edge with a finger.

"It's...not cold? How...?"

-Don't know exactly, but i think it's a thin pillow of air... i'm no phycisist but i think it's about different density because

the ice is so cold and the air immediately around it just can't compensate. Magic probably changes the rules a bit... -

"Looks like it, but hey, that's pretty useful!"

Slowly Nicholai let the swords disappear, sat down again as he looked at Joshua with high expectations.

-So, you got better too, wanna show?-

While the foo dog hadn't been to sure about the whole hypnosis-thing at first, he had to admit that it felt good now,

on the other hand, it started to look a bit as if Nich was developing an addiction to it.

"Yeah...yeah, sure, just give me a sec, still not as good as you."

He shook his head a little, took a deep breath before looking up at the feline again.

"Okay, let's try this."

This time he didn't summon a doppelganger, after another deep breath his eyes started glowing,

but they didn't have the hypnotic effect either.

He wanted to try something else, had thought about it for a little while now, slowly there was a glowing orb

forming in front of him, almost pulling in light from its surroundings.

-That's a bit weird...i mean...you normally do that whole clone-thing, don't you?-

"Well, yeah... but, just give it some time."

It still was weird that he felt like this small thing was a bigger strain on his stamina than the clone, then again,

the doppelgangers always felt like moving a hand in a glove, natural, this on the other hand.

As the orb grew from the size of a firefly to that of an eyeball, details started forming on its surface.

After a few seconds it already looked like an eyeball, symbols appearing around the violet iris of it.

-So...you can see with that thing?-

Panting, the foo dog nodded, the sensation still was unfamiliar to him, despite him having tried this

a number of times.

"Pretty....pretty much, yes... it's still a bit weird but, i'm starting to get the hang of it."

-You could become a scout or spy with your skills, you know that? As long as you can stop the glow

at least.-

"I'll work on it...just, needs some time."

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Under his fingers the surface rippled, orbs of light moving through the black, gleaming wall.

The path had ended here, but he still felt like he had to go on.

Once more his hand pressed against the wall, he concentraded and slowly it gave way.

Slow, viscous, as if the wall was made out of rubber, he never had seen the stuff himself,

but it seemed to fit what one of the orbs had shown him.

Still, the sensation was... unusual, the words to describe it not right there as he passed through

the wall.

In a way it felt like he stopped existing as a whole for a few split seconds, as if something picked

him apart and put him back together to see what he was made off.

He didn't like it, someone like him shouldn't have to stand for such an insult...

Where... where had those thoughts come from?

It wasn't how he had felt on his journey to the wall, on the other hand, he hadn't encountered

a wall like this so far.

So that he hadn't thought like this was only natural, wasn't it?

It was still hard to understand, who exactly was he? Would he really learn that on his journey?

The thoughts didn't linger for long as he finally noticed his new surroundings.

Before everything had been a seeminlgy infinite space, only the orbs shown some kind of boundary

and even then there seemed to be no real end to them.

This however, it felt different, looked different. There were structures, new patterns for the orbs

to follow but also a sense of limitation.

It still didn't feel bad though, limitation meant rules, rules would lead to some kind of order and

order was needed for true growth.

Maybe this was the place that would lead him to some answers.

The decision to explore these possibilities was made even before he was aware of it, and he

already had started to move, to look at everything before he thought about it.

Yes...

This place would probably be good to find answers, find a purpose, now he truly would be able to

learn.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A low moan escaped the tigers muzzle, his eyes still fixated on, what he thought to be, his reflexion.

The bigger feline smiled warmly, a big, strong hand stroking his originals cheek before he slowly

leaned in for a kiss.

Lips touched and before long tongues intertwined, moved against each other.

Every second of it sent shivers down Nicholais spine, his tail already lifted in a perfect arc over his

back.

It felt so good, and it wasn't wrong, now that he thought about it, he couldn't even find reasons for

why this could be wrong.

His hands still moved on their own, almost massaging the other tigers firm pecs as his hips ground

against abs.

Again he moaned, felt those strong hands move over his back, downwards, claws scratching gently

at his skin before they grabbed his butt.

Slowly they broke the kiss, leaving Nicholai panting, purring in content.

A voice started talking, far away... but important, he knew that as the other tiger slowly ran his hands

over his back, holding him in a tender embrace.

"We could take things a bit further today. Why don't you get up for a second? Let us see what you've

accomplished?"

-Yeah... yeah...sounds good,- he purred again, smiled at the buff tiger in front of him before slowly

standing up.

The voice was nice, had shown him the other tiger, how he could and wanted to be.

"Now, why don't you get rid of your pants? You don't have to hide anything, do you?"

The smile grew, he had fantasized about it during the past weeks, and while at first it had made

him nervous he had felt better and better everytime he saw the other tiger.

The bigger feline leaned back into the couch a little, when had he undressed?

Or was he naked from the beginning...

Nicholai wasn't sure, but the longer he looked at his counterpart, the less important the question became.

Slowly his own hands moved, fingers hooking into the waistband before pulling his pants and boxerbriefs

down in one, swift motion.

He... was hard. The thought didn't really mean anything at the moment, he just had realized it, and for some

reason it felt a bit alien, not unpleasent just as if it was new despite being something he knew he had experienced

before.

After a few seconds that he had spent looking confused at his own, erect member a smile spread on his lips

again.

It felt nice, and his reflection was aroused as well, a hand slowly, almost lazily running it's fingers over his

length, playing with the barbs surrounding the head.

"He looks pretty happy, doesn't he?"

Nicholai nodded, slowly taking his seat on the other felines lap again, mewling as his sensitive length pressed

against it's bigger copy.

-...oooh...hff..happy...hot,- the tiger stammered, his hips moving before the decision was made in his head.

Slowly, carefully he kept moving, their members rubbing against each other over the entire length, drops

of precum forming at the tips.

It didn't take long for them to kiss again, Nicholai taking the lead this time, one hand pressing against the back

of the other tigers head to hold him close, the other moving over his chest, fingertips circling around his right,

slowly hardening nipple.

"Somebody tasted blood," he muttered the words to himself more than anyone as he kept watch.

'Looks like we finally could get some more fun out of this,' OJ's voice was almost surprising, the astral twin

more often than not being silent, or at least not as chatty as before, for the last few days.

This time though they didn't argue, Joshua even smiled a bit, on the edge of a grin as he licked his lips

while the two tigers moaned, enjoying each other.

Even if one of them was just an illusion he hade formed himself, the sight was fantastic and already Joshua's

thoughts moved a bit further.

"Hope he doesn't mind me getting a bit more forward next time."

'Be careful what you wish for, at the moment i'd say you've turned a kitten into a hungry lion...well, tiger.'

"Maybe he just needs to act it out, seems he has a lot to catch up to."

Nicholai didn't hear any of it, mewled again as he broke their kiss before pressing his teeth into the other tigers

neck, hot air blowing over the silken fur with every heavy breath he took.

A loud moan escaped the other feline, back arching as he wrapped one hand around the two poles between them,

taking a firm grasp on them before moving up and down, pressing them closer together.

The smaller tiger bit down harder, growling as his hips thrust upwards as he felt it churning in his balls.

His whole body tensed, shivered as his fur slowly stood upwards, for the moment he released his mirror image from

his bite, going in for a passionate kiss again, growling, moaning as lust was eating away at every thought in his hazy mind.

As he tried to move faster, thrust harder, both members covered in a thick layer of precum, he could already feel it

churning, boiling in his blood as he kept playing with the other tigers tongue, his claws digging into the skin beneath them.

Seconds later he couldn't hold back anymore, eyes rolling upwards as he felt his length exploding, thick, white ropes of seed

shooting onto the creamy coloured, fur covered abs below him, quickly joined by another males load as his counterpart

joined into Nicholai's lustful groans.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

'So, any news on your new student?,' Hammer had decided to come by for a minute or too, leaning against the

doorframe he looked at Noxfire.

It almost made him smile, the lion, as displaced as he looked anyway with his furcolour, was almost too much

to look at when behind his desk, checking forms and other paperwork.

As Noxfire looked up he shook his head a little.

-Not at the moment, but i have invited him for a little talk. Nicholai told me they were training together.-

'Nicholai? Which one was that?'

-The icewielding russian,- the lion said as he looked down to one of the papers again.

'Ah, yeah... i remember, Tesla still wants him as a sidekick at some point.'

-Well, if he keeps up the good work he'll probably be leaving us sooner than later.-

Hammer let out a whistle, smiled a bit.

'Getting that good, huh? That training must work wonders.'

-That... actually is what's concerning me about it. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy he's getting better,-

as Noxfire looked up again his face showed honest worry.

'But?'

-Well... you could probably compare it to when somebody, suddenly, makes huge leaps with his muscletraining,

it's possible he simply found something that helped him... or...steroids.-

The rottweiler could barely hold back a laugh, grinned a bit.

'Are you saying they found magical steroids?'

-I'm serious here. Of course there are no direct steroids when it comes to magical energies, still, you have

to admit it's weird that those two get better and better with huge leaps in their progress without any help.-

'I'll admit it's strange but don't jump to conclusions. We had no bad apples here so far and i hate the thought

that those two would be the start of it.'

Before Noxfire could respond there was a knock on the door, shortly after Joshua peeked in, smiled nervously.

"You wanted to talk to me?"

'I'll leave you two alone for now, ciao,' a smile on his muzzle, still shaking his head in disbelief.

-Will talk to you later Hammer. Now...Joshua, come in, take a seat,- Noxfire pointed towards the office chair in front

of his desk.

"Did i do anything wrong?," he seemed honest at least, worried, a bit confused as to why Noxfire had invited him

to his office.

The lion simply shook his head, sorted his papers a little.

-Nothing i would be aware of at least, so, if you don't think you did something, i'd say you're off the hook.-

Joshua let out a relieved sigh.

-Besides, i talk to all of my students once in a while. It's pretty common i'd say, i have to get to know you,

evaluate your progress and more.-

"Okay, so...how'd i do so far?," sheepishly he grinned, after all Joshua really was curious.

-Good, truth be told, very good even. It's actually the reason i am a bit concerned about you and Nicholai,

he said you two started training together.-

Noxfire kept a close look on anything the foo dog in front of him did, tried to gauge every little movement,

every twitch of a muscle, even the flow of energy in the canine.

"Uhm... is... that not okay? I just thought it'd be good if a senior was showing me the ropes."

-Well, it's not forbidden, you two just advanced pretty fast lately.-

"I guess... he's a great help after all."

-What exactly are you doing for your training anyway? Nicholai wasn't too informative during our little talk.-

"We meditate for example, do the stuff we do during the lessons just without the crystals."

And again it didn't quite add up, if it were just that they wouldn't, couldn't advance this fast.

While he still raised an eyebrow he decided to, for the moment at least, not do anything.

-Okay, that doesn't sound like anything dangerous... just so you know, magic still is something very unstable.

You should be careful, especially during training.-

"We'll be careful," Joshua said with a smile.

The lion still didn't trust the whole thing, it wasn't that a peek in performance was unheard of, just, here,

during this time.

-If you don't have anything you want to ask me, i'd say we're done for today.-

They both exchanged a few, short farewells, shook hands before the foo dog left.

He'd be lying if he said he didn't notice anything, it wasn't too clear what exactly it was but Joshua wasn't

the same person from a few weeks before.

It wasn't even that his flow had changed direction, that would have been so obvious he could probably

have felt it the moment it would happen.

Noxfire mused a bit, at the moment everything pointed towards an increase in the foo dogs magical potential.

That alone was weird, especially since Joshua, at least from what the lion knew, discovered his powers

so recently.

He could feel his fingers twitch a little as the urge came to summon....

No!

Angry at himself he hit his desk with a fist, grumbling...

-Just... no,- he mumbled to himself, taking a deep breath.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

While he still was unsure as to where exactly his journey had led him, the structures at least made

it easier to learn.

They all seemed to have a greater purpose behind them, although some things about them still

didn't add up.

From what he had understood so far this whole thing was a sort of cycle, even in it's near infinite

form before there had to be a source and an end, with all the new information he gathered, both

could be the same.

But if all was a cycle, there was a part missing.

Often, quite random he had thought at first although a pattern seemed to form, there would be

orbs of light coming from somewhere besides the wall.

Other times there would be orbs flowing into another direction but while they simply stopped there,

they seemed to fulfill some sort of purpose on their own.

Could he go there? Follow their example?

Perhaps it was time to try.

For the time being though, he had to wait. How would he do it?

That question wasn't completely answered, but he was confident that he had learned enough

about the orbs that he could, with a bit of concentration, manipulate them to be of use.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Alex sighed as he sat down in front of his pc.

The day had been a little bit of a disaster, he missed not only the bus to get to college, being

late for the lectures today was already a downer since his professor had it out for him, but also

the bus home later on.

As his computer booted his gaze wandered over his desk and he let out a frustrated moan.

"I forgot the fucking books, the librarian will kill me..."

This day really couldn't get worse, it didn't help that his parents wouldn't come home for another hour,

even if they were, the library would close in another five minutes.

He'd have to give them back tomorrow during the lectures and hope for the best.

"Please just let one thing... work?"

The young bats brow furrowed as he looked at his monitor.

There was a new icon on the desktop and that just wasn't right.

The computer had been turned off the entire day, he was always careful not to get a virus or anything

onto his harddrive.

So what was the new program? Where had it come from?

As he tried to look into it he found that, apparantly, his Grid client had downloaded a demo of sorts.

Alex could have sworn that he had disabled that feature, then again, maybe it was fun, could save his

day if it was a good game.

While he had plenty to wory about at the moment he just wanted to unwind at the moment.

A few clicks later and the demo started.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It happened, the orbs he already had manipulated as a trap for whatever was the unseen part of this cycle

were moving, flowing around him, to take him to his destination.

The sensation was a bit like moving through the wall that had surrounded this place, again he felt like he was

picked apart, yet this time he wasn't put back together immediately.

He still couldn't see what was outside of this place...

It didn't matter, he would learn, he had to find out what was behind all this, behind his existence.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The young bat wasn't sure what he was looking at as the loading screen, that already had looked a bit

weird with it's random flashing of colours, vanished.

His monitor was black now, save for a message at the centre and a blinking cursor below.

"Who are you... huh, maybe it's one of those indie-retro-games," he mused to himself before typing his

answer.

It took only a second to type in his name, since he hadn't found many infos, aside the fact that this was a

demo of sorts, he went with his real name, Alex.

Right after hitting enter the question vanished before a new one popped up.

-Can you hear me?-

Huh, audio now? Alex fished for his headset, adjusted his glasses after fitting it onto his ears.

-Can you hear me?,- was the only phrase spoken, again and again, as he finally had gotten everything to

work.

His brow furrowed again, but he typed a simple yes as an answer before pulling the microphone down.

"Can you hear me?," he asked back, feeling stupid, audio interaction with games wasn't really good most

of the time, and in an indie game? A demo even.

He didn't get his hopes up for anything.

-I can,- was the short, a bit stammered answer.

The voice sounded, he couldn't put his finger on it right away, as if it was not sure how to talk.

"What should we do now? This is a demo, right?"

Maybe it would get better if he kept talking to it, after all, he just started and for the moment the thing

had piqued his interest.

For a few seconds there was silence, or at least almost, a weird buzzing sound filled his headset before

the voice rose again.

-I want to learn.-

Huh, well, at least it was clear on it's intent. Maybe it was some kind of interactive test.

"Guess i could teach you a few things. Anything you want to know especially?"

Again there was silence, longer, Alex would have called it pensive if it hadn't been about an A.I. .

-I want to learn,- came the simple answer again.

His interest was still there, maybe the programme just needed some input.

"Okay, well, let's try some stuff then."

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As Joshua sat down in his room he already undressed, it was just then that he realized it.

He wasn't as beat from the session today as he had been the last few times, there still was

some exhaustion of course, still he felt good, a bit hungry maybe.

'I say, you're getting stronger,' words echoing in his head as the reflexion in his mirror changed

colours, then posture.

"Guess i am, we have been at it quite often lately so it was bound to happen i guess."

'Still, we don't want your little secret to come out already, do we?'

For a few seconds O.J. was out of his sight as he grabbed something to drink.

"Probably not, though...Noxfire suspects something i think."

'He's not stupid. But if you try to hold yourself back a little during his lessons i think he

will lose interest.'

For a second the foo dog grinned, adjusting his underwear a little.

"Too bad, he's quite a looker."

'Never thought i'd say this but: be careful. Although...Nicholai isn't the only one getting an

appetite for the finer stuff, hm?'

In a way that was true, although appetite wasn't the best word for it, had Joshua known what he

could do at some other point in time, he'd probably had come out of the closet sooner.

With a soft rumble he stretched before scratching his belly a little, the hand almost going

deeper.

"Say... what about it, should we expand our little training group?"

'Oh? Are you up for that finally?'

It hadn't been that long he asumed but for some reason, this all felt good to him now, natural even.

And while he still liked Nicholai, he truly did, it just felt... right to spread the joy he could see

on the tigers face when he was in a trance, giving into it all.

"Just... want to have some fun"
