#2 of Champion of the Universe

Hey guys! I know this story may seem slow but don't give up hope. And don't bash me too hard on any grammatical mistakes I made; it is hard editing by yourself! Anyways, enjoy the chapter!!

It felt like rubber gloves were touching his face as the arms inspected his facial features. Chris did nothing but whimper in fear. The yellow beings eyed him up and down, inspecting his body. Chris was in shock and could do nothing as they gazed upon and touched every part of his body.

Then one of the 3-eyed aliens started communicating with the other one. Chris couldn't make out the dialogue but it sounded like a combination of clicking, loud whisper-like noises, and guttural overtones. It was a weird symphony of sound. As soon as their conversation ended, the other one looked up to the ceiling and shouted a word that roughly sounded like "ouweeook".

Just then a thin, yet wide beam of green light beamed out next to them, to their right. A rectangle quickly sizzled into existence before the rest of the green light vanished into thin air. The alien then proceeded to type on the ethereal 'keyboard' and after typing what seemed to be a command code of sorts, pressed the last button gracefully.

A simple whoosh was heard as Chris was rotated backwards until he was parallel with the floor. Chris was further stunned as a bright flash of white lights temporarily blinded him. As Chris was dazed, he failed to notice several metal ligaments lower from the ceiling, resembling medical equipment.

A small bolt of pain engulfed Chris' neck as one of the aliens, stabbed a syringe into his neck. That snapped him out of his daze but before he could thrash around in fear, a warm numbness hastily consumed his body. After 6 seconds, he couldn't move any muscle in his human body. He watched, out of the corner of his eye, as the needle slowly withdrew from his neck. The aliens pinched him along his arm and face to make sure the anesthetic did its job before they looked up at each other and nodded. Looking back down at the frail, immobile human, they each grabbed the metal arms and began working on him.

Chris could do nothing but look on in horror as they began experimenting on him. He couldn't even whimper; the effects of the drug rendering him so paralyzed he couldn't even make an incoherent noise.

While one alien inserted another syringe into his body, another grabbed one of the metal arms that resembled a gun of sorts and brought it to the side of Chris' head. The second alien finished injecting the liquid into his body and pulled up another hologram. It had many different colors and symbols on it. Although, what stuck out the most to him was that off to the side of the screen, 2 dots would appear periodically among the other technological features. It was flashing at a fast pace. He then put two-and-two together and figured out that was his heartbeat. Another shape was present above the bleeps. This time it was in the shape of a head. Chris could only assume that it had to be his head, as they now had all of his vitals on display.

The alien pulled the trigger which sent a small needle into the side of his brain, penetrating the skull with ease and lodging itself into the grey matter of his brain. If it wasn't for the anesthetic the alien gave him, he would've been in immense physical pain. However, whatever was injected into his head, overwhelmed his senses. Even though he was numb, his senses seemed to have gone into a state of overload. Despite the drug in his system, his vision blurred and swirled into a myriad of shades. His ears, more specifically, the inner and middle parts of his ear seemed to be shifting within his head, and became more sensitive. At least that's what he thought was happening.

"I'm blind, mute, and deaf. Just kill me!", Chris thought.

Then his senses came trickling back. His vision cleared and he was able to feel the skin against his bones. He also felt a significant burning/pinching sensation in his neck. He winced and stifled a groan. "Wait, I can make noise, and stop it!?", Chris yelled in his mind. He didn't care how weird that sounded, he was just glad to be in control of his body once again. That momentarily distracted him from the pain, but not wholly.

Chris started to squirm as the pain intensified, before it went away altogether.

He looked to his right and left and noticed that the two beings were staring right at him and trying to get his attention, waving their arms and gesticulating to their own words.

He stared in confusion, until a few of the noises sound familiar to him. Not familiar in a way he consider familiar...but Earthly? The guttural noises somehow made sense to him. Then, piece-by-piece, he was able to recognize and differentiate between the slurs and illiberal noises the beings were saying. Then, much to his bafflement, caught the last of one of the aliens' sentences.

"...may need to extirpate him. He is not responding to our stimuli", the one to his left said.

"Well let's wait a couple of minutes. He still needs to adjust to the changes we implemented to his body", the other replied.

Chris whimpered in fear. What the fuck had they done to him. Just a moment ago, all he could hear was gibberish. Now, the two beings in front of him were speaking perfect English.

The two aliens noticed and looked at him again.

"Hello, can you hear me? Can you understand the words coming from my mouth?", the one on his right asked.

"What have you done to me? Please, let me go! I'm-I'm useless. I have no value! Let me go please!", Chris begged, seeing no other option at this point. While he spoke, his throat felt a little funny, and slightly warmer than usual.

Both aliens chuckled at him. "Oh, if I had a Switquin roble for every time I heard that", the one on his left grinned.

"What the hell is that? Wait, how the fuck am I talking to you?!", Chris yelled.

"We inserted a U.M.T, otherwise known as a Universal Microscopic Translator into the Visual Association Cortex, Auditory Association Cortex, and Wernicke's Area of your brain. It was relatively simple since your species is of a more Detuchian-based life form", the other one explained.

Chris had his mouth open wide in shock, still absorbing all that had been relayed to him.

"What?"

"We performed other necessary changes on your body but it will all be explained shortly. We need to get you to sector 4-Xdc", the one to his right asserted.

Before he could do anything else--not that he could do anything else--the alien typed a few things on the keyboard before Chris suddenly was rotated upright. The alien pressed a few more buttons before the blue light engulfed Chris's body and solidified. It encased him in a cyan cocoon, trapping him. He could only see past his blue cage and do nothing more. The two aliens promptly left the room and Chris simply watched in nervousness as he started floating forward. His surreal cage following the two aliens.

He traveled along a hallway, highlighted by grey, shiny panels. Ornately lining the panels were thin, long slivers of green or yellow light. The slivers would sometimes stretch for as long as the hallway continued or others would branch off bigger slivers and continue down a juxtaposed hallway or would simply halt spontaneously along a portion of a wall.

He was scared, wondering what was to become of him. As his eyes danced everywhere, taking in his surroundings, another blue pod joined next to him.

As he looked past the blue hue of his cocoon, he was able to make out another figure in there.

"Wait..what the...?", Chris blurted out.

As he focused on the figure, his eyes widened in shock as he realized it was another human being. At least, he thought it was. In fact, he hoped it was another human. As illogical as he thought it was, he would face his fate with a stranger of his own species than by himself.

He banged against his blue entrapment, trying to get the other's attention. The other human was just as frantic as him from what he could tell. After of moment the human looked to its left and its eyes widened too when it realized Chris was trying to get its attention.

But upon closer inspection, Chris was further shocked when he realized that the human was a woman. In fact, she looked young--about his age. They stared at each other, the confusion evident in their eyes.

They soon reached a dead end. Suddenly, two metal panels opened horizontally to a darkened room.

"All will be explained shortly", the first alien said. Chris couldn't say for sure, but it looked like the alien was smirking.

Then the alien typed something on his wrists, which caused the blue pods to lurch forward into the room. Once they were in the middle of the room, they opened up and promptly stopped their movement, launching Chris and the woman into the room. Before Chris and the woman could even hit the ground, the pods closed back up and swiftly exited the room, where the doors shut behind them.

Chris and the woman looked at each other in silence. They were too scared to do anything. It remained like that for a couple of minutes; both of them looking in any other direction but at each other.

"Do...do you know why you were...abducted?", Chris asked. He never thought he would ever ask that question in his life.

The woman narrowed her eyes at him and opened her mouth wide, but no sound came out. Finally after composed herself she spoke. "Do...do I know why I am here? No. But what I like to know is how to get out of here. And you thought the best question to ask was if I knew I was here!?!", the woman cried out.

"Look okay, I'm just as scared as you are. We obviously aren't going to get out of here any time soon...I just thought I'd pass the time and maybe get to know you before something else happens. I at least want to have a decent memory before I die, like meeting someone new", Chris retorted.

The woman exhaled. She looked around before her eyes finally settled on Chris. "Fine...name's Emily. What about you?", she whispered.

"My name is Chris. Where are you from?" he questioned.

"I am from Australia...Townsville, Australia"

"Townsville?", Chris asked, skeptical.

"Yeah, I know. But where do you live?"

"I live in Miami, Florida, in the USA. I moved there about a year ago for college. I am originally from Texas", Chris replied.

"So a cowboy", Emily assumed.

"Not all of us are cowboys"

"Really? A lot of people think of cowboys and horses when they think of Texas. At least where I am from", Emily voiced.

"Wow. I didn't think the stereotype was that known", Chris mumbled.

"Well, if it makes up for anything, we all don't surf, but Australia is one of the deadliest places to go to. You know, wildlife and such", Emily asserted.

"If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?", Emily asked.

"I am studying to become a toxicologist"

"You should consider working in Australia. It's the perfect place that would suit your career", Emily commented.

"Maybe. What about you?"

"I am just a planning assistant. Nothing major"

"Really?", Chris asked, shocked.

"Well I always wanted to be an astronomer, gazing out at the stars, wondering what was out there....it looks like I got more than what I wanted", Emily explained, putting on a sad smile.

If Chris wasn't in the current predicament he was in, he would've laughed.

Before anymore could be done the side opposite of the entrance opened up vertically, revealing a grande white room with translucent light. They both looked at each other, not sure what to do.

As if to encourage them, a synthetic voice filled the room. "All participants please step out of your holding facilities and come forward", a smooth, female voice said.

With nothing else to do, Chris and Emily hesitantly walked out of the dark and into the light. As their eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room, the door slammed shut behind them, leaving them with no way out. Still, they trudged forward and when they saw the fuzzy forms of other shapes, they stopped.

"What are those?", Chris asked.

Then, Chris and Emily's faces turned into pure horror as one of the shapes became recognizable. It was green in color and had 5 arms. It looked slightly like an insect of sorts but with feathers. Chris couldn't describe it accurately.

Emily screamed and ran the other way while Chris gawked at the other creature. Emily however did not go far as two metallic-boxes dropped in front of her. Emily stopped in confusion and was about to move around them when short bars flipped out from under them and emitted a red light. They emitted a loud, drone sound. Even though Emily didn't know what those things were, she wasn't about to find out. She hesitantly turned around and rejoined Chris. Chris was still in shock until Emily nudged him in his arm.

Chris faced Emily and was about to ask her when the two boxes emitted another drone sound and flashed their weapons again. Chris shut his jaw as he understood and complied.

They both walked forward on shaky legs. As they traversed the room, they soon were able to make out other aliens of different statures. They were very diverse; ranging in color, size, ligaments, etc.

All of the beings stopped when they reached a white, circular disk in the middle of the room. They all looked at each of the other beings in the room. If Chris didn't know any better, he could say they were just as scared as they were. Unfortunately, he was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that standing a few yards away from him and Emily, were real aliens.

Even though these life forms came from different planets and cultures, they all had one thought in mind: what in the world were they doing there?

Watching them from a floating, green screen was a tall, elegant-looking alien. He smirked when all of his participants gathered around the holographic projector.

"Let the games begin"
