Dimensional mischief pt7
Well here you go a whole flashback!!!. I've never written this way before so let me know what you think so I can improve on it in the future. Hope you enjoy.
It didn't take the boys long to get to grips with there situation. They understood that they were not on earth anymore. One of the first things they did was establish a perimeter. They had already bumped into these unknown personnel with weapons and didn't want to take any chances of being ambushed by more of them. The boys had created a barrier around the bunkhouse with snow. They decided that 6 should always be on guard to protect the bunkhouse. They decided that they would take it in 8 hour shifts. While 6 were on guard duty the others would set out with there rifles to gather fire wood and food. It was time consuming and was made harder because they had to also gather food for the hostages. It worked well for the first week but then some of the boys had started to fight about who's turn it was to be on what duty and who didn't commit enough time to there duty. Routine was tiring and was starting to take its toll on the boys.
"I had the shift before last" Charlie shouted. Like me he was one of the younger boys of the group.
"No you didn't" Josh shouted back.
"Are you calling me a liar" Charlie said.
"Well if the shoe fits" Josh said moving closer to Charlie.
"Right break it up break it up" one of the boys said while stepping in between them and pushing them back.
Meanwhile at the Maerdy barracks 8 miles away. Many men were preparing a search party. Sgt Luxer and his men had been missing for a week and a search and rescue prep was granted. Two teams of 8 would split up and would search the arctic forest where Sgt Luxers last known location was. Many of them had wondered what had happened to Luxer and his men. They had been sent on a basic training exercise and were due back 3 days ago. After they had lost contact with Luxer and his men they simply shrugged and thought nothing of it. This exercise was done regularly and there had never been a group who had gone missing. The men set out.
The argument between Josh and Charlie had been broke up with Charlie being put on shift. Josh smiled in victory. And went on to help set the up the fire for the night. Since we had been here I had spent all my spare time observing the hostages and trying to learn there language. We were on a different planet after all. Where our species wasn't the dominant over this world. I thought it should be necessary to learn there language just in case I ever needed it. We did have hostages after all so maybe they would negotiate. We had decided to let them talk to each other but we still had there hands tied up with rope we had made from a spare bunk mattress. The only time we took the rope off was when the hostages were being fed or when they needed a toilet. This involved taking them outside and behind a tree so they could do there business. Over the 3 weeks and 2 days i had been here I had learned to speak there language quite easily and was also starting small talk with the prisoners.
"Hi my name is Anthony" i said in the foreign tongue. I must have seemed strange to the other boys.
Sgt Luxer and his men were used to there life as a hostage. All they did was sit around all day doing nothing. One of the creatures had been studying them and began to try and talk our language. At first the creature struggled but after a few days he started putting full sentences together. " Hi I'm Luxer" the Sgt said back.
Anthony smiled his progress with them was going well. They'd even asked each other questions. They had gone into a deep conversation with each other. Sgt Luxer and Cadet Clark were talking about the situation. Anthony had told him the story of how they came to being here and how they had no idea how they ended up here. The Sgt had been intrigued by Anthony's story and started to like the kid.
It had been 2 hours since the men from Maerdy barracks had set off. One group headed south to north while the other went west to east. Corporal Bler a young dalmatian with many spots had been walking through the cold and thick snow for a couple of hours when he noticed a glow far left of him. He immediately recognized it as a fire. "sir there's a fire to the left" Bler shouted. "Maybe there okay after all" one of the other men shouted. With that they headed towards the glow.
It was late and me and the others who were on guard duty were gathered around the fire. The others boys were inside. Two stayed up to watch the hostages while the others would sleep. "So Anthony make any new friends" Josh said making another boy giggle.
"Huh" I said confused.
"Well it seems that your making friends, is there something that your not telling us" Josh said with a evil grin on his face.
"No no I'm just trying to speak the same as them" I said quickly trying to avoid any suspicion. Josh laughed.
"Haha got you" some of the others laughed as well. Few I Thought to myself. I was glad they were just joking. I started to get tired and started to drift off to sleep when suddenly I heard voices. But they weren't English. I woke up and the other boys had also noticed. They had picked up there rifles and were now focused on the noise. Josh ran inside quick and grabbed a hostage. Waking the others as he did So. I could see something moving in front of us. It was heading towards us. Then I saw a face. It was one of them.
Bler and the others were excited that they might have found Sgt Luxer and his men. But as they got closer it seemed less and less likely. They could see people around the fire but they weren't people. One of the others shouted and then they were staring point blank at these creatures.
I thought this would be a good time to speak there language. "hi my name is Anthony and we have hostages" i shouted kind of bluntly at the creatures approaching the bunkhouse. They stopped.Josh came out with a hostage. And had a rifle pointed at his head.
The men had been completely surprised and some were dumbstruck. They had encountered these weird creatures and they had hostages. They confirmed that the hostages were Sgt Luxer and his men. "will you negotiate your terms" one shouted towards me.
"Yes but not with you, take me to your leader" I said.
"OK follow us" the creature said. I started to leave the safety of the established perimeter.
"No Anthony wait" i heard Josh say. I turned around.
"Josh it's okay, I'm gonna sort this mess out" i said calmly reassuring him.
"Just be careful he said". I nodded and proceeded to follow the creatures.
