New Beginnings Ch 22a (Nature's Calling)

(Alyssa prepares to aid Ren to set up the beauty contest after his battle with Vael, but will Vael be victorious? Contains M/F beast loving. Sorry about the terrible delay, but real life was nagging me lol. Additionally, similar to Ch 14, this chapter is divided into A and B portions since after the battle, they will separate again with Alyssa and Ren doing stuff at the same time as Vael and his crew)

Vael was usually the first to wake up, but in a genuine surprise, as he stirred and opened his eyes and subsequently waking up Eevee, he found her bed quite empty and even made. He gasped in surprise, wondering if something had happened to her, but when he heard some random song being hummed in the bathroom, he laughed. "Can it be possible that she is really that excited to see Ren again?"

As Eevee shrugged to him, also surprised that Alyssa was awake before them, and even more so, that neither of them had woken up, Alyssa heard the conversation and opened the door to the bathroom, dressed in some of her traveling clothes while working on the Loli dress that Lizana had given her after that first orgy they ever had with their Pokémon. She was making sure all the wrinkles and fur were out of it and the bathroom was quite steamy to aid in removing said wrinkles since it had been sitting in her pack all this time. "Oh you two are up. You were both out like a light so I didn't want to disturb you."

He looked to Eevee and chuckled before looking back to Alyssa . "No...not at all. Normally, you and Mightyena are dead to the world until the smell of our cooking wakes you up. You must be really excited to see Ren aren't you? Is that the dress you'll be wearing for the contest?"

The female trainer blushed and nodded, Mightyena sitting down tiredly against her legs on his haunches. Apparently, he didn't share in her excitement at being up so early, but was there more for moral support than anything else. "Yeah. I'm going to hang it here for the day while I am helping Ren setup."

Eevee and Vael both laughed at Mightyena, before he stood up and stretched, Eevee mimicking his actions with her own stretching. He and Eevee worked together to do a light morning workout right there in the room, before he dressed and smiled. "Alright...let's get everyone fed and get to the gym."

Alyssa had watched the workout curiously and even Mightyena had a confused look while his head was tilted curiously. "Do you and Eevee do workouts like that every morning?"

He leaned down and nuzzled Eevee nose to nose before nodding with a smile, which the normal type happily returned in kind. "Yep...it helps us get the blood flowing and ready for the day. Usually you're too busy sleeping, so I'm not surprised you asked that question." When she blushed and stuttered a bit, before stomping her foot, unable to come up with a proper response, he and Eevee laughed again, though Mightyena gave a small 'hmph' and looked away, tilting his head up at them. "You both look so cute flabbergasted like that. And you especially Alyssa." He smiled.

Alyssa blushed and smiled back, forgetting about the minor insult that was technically the truth. "Thanks Vael. As you said...let's get our Pokémon some food and then head for the gym. It's pretty early just like Ren said to be. After your battle, I'm sure he and I will be very busy."

Vael nodded and chuckled as Alyssa ushered him out of the room, Eevee close on her heels. "Okay okay. Just hold your horses...or...zebras." He winked to her thinking of Blitzle and all she did was blush and keep pushing him. Vael finally managed to slip away from her pushes by picking up his pace with more laughing, stopping in front of Nurse Joy's desk. She was awake early like always. "Hey Nurse Joy...can we get some breakfast?"

The Pokémon nurse laughed and smiled. "Of course. But you're up awful early. What's the occasion?"

He smiled at the pink-haired femme. "Well we went and saw Ren yesterday night and he said the only chance to get a battle before the beauty contest is to show up early today. So that's why we're up early."

Nurse Joy nodded and then ushered them to a seat before going back to start working on their food. In no time at all, the sweet smell of a home-cooked breakfast was filling their senses. By the time she returned with their food, all of the two trainers' Pokémon were out and having random conversations while Vael smiled to Alyssa.

"I can't help but think Ren must be bogged down with so much stuff. Gym leader, Beautician, and Artist. It seems like so much to worry about. I wonder if that's how all adults are."

Alyssa shrugged before she started eating the food Nurse Joy had brought out, to include bowls of Pokémon food for all their Pokémon. "My dad is busy all the time, and mom stays at home cleaning up all the messes we make hehe."

Vael nodded. "yeah...mine too." He smiled and started to hurriedly eat. He never took his time during days where he was to battle gym leaders for their cores. "Now that I think about it, I may not know what your dad does, but both of our moms are stay at home mothers hehe."

Alyssa giggled softly. "I guess you're right. Never really thought about it before. Yet another thing we have in common." She watched him eat for a moment before they both finished the rest of their meal in silence. She saw Vulpix had already finished her food and was practicing cute little karate type moves just because she was pumped, causing Alyssa to laugh. "Vulpix...you aren't a fighting type silly girl."

Everybody else began to pay attention to her and Vulpix immediately stopped in embarrassment, not realizing Alyssa had caught her playing around as she swung a forepaw this way and that and tried to stand on her two hind legs like a fighting type.

Vael stood up after his meal was done and then made sure the others were done too before calling out to them. "Well let's not keep our friend Ren waiting. Vulpix, Mothim, Eevee? Are you three ready to go?" As he called out their names, all three of them perked up and stepped forward. Liepard moved to stand next to Mightyena and Blitzle, ready to watch and cheer him on. "Okay then...as usual we'll keep Eevee out and put the other two in your pokeballs so Ren doesn't know what to expect." He pointed Vulpix's and Mothim's pokeballs at their respective owners and called them in with the red light shrouding them until they disappear.

Alyssa smiled and stood up. "Alright. I guess it's time to get this show on the road wouldn't you say?" She laughs and stands up as well, the other Pokémon that hadn't been put up using that as their cue to follow when Alyssa, not Vael moved towards the exit first.

Vael laughed and caught up. "Hey now. You stole away my dramatic walk towards the gym."

Alyssa shrugged, before smiling teasingly. "You snooze, you lose. Now hurry up. Ren isn't going to wait all day."

The two of them were laughing as they headed towards the gym, entering the amazing hallway full of beautiful artwork just like before. Again, they can't help but admire them as they head deeper into the gym until they enter the same room Ren had been in before. It was quite empty this time. His paints and canvas were removed, the artificial light and Lilligant's Pokémon couch. All had been removed and it was actually much larger than it had looked before. Ren was there to welcome them in the middle of the room. He waved them over to him and had some sort of remote control in his hand. "Step on over you two."

When Vael and Alyssa approached with their Pokémon, he pushed a button and the floor started to move. It was just a small, circular platform that acted like an elevator. There was a tube that connected the elevator to the floor to prevent them from falling off and Vael couldn't help but lean forward as the elevator came out of the ground through the tube to reveal a whole lower level that appeared to be like a miniature rain forest. There were trees of all kinds and the temperature started to rise as more humidity was felt, even getting some condensation on the tube the elevator was going down through.

"I have recreated a temperate rainforest here so Pokémon may thrive without the threat of human interference by anybody but me and some scientists I know. All we do is just analyze how they are in their natural habitat. This tube and elevator is waterproof, so the temperate weather doesn't really affect anything other than make it hard to see at times. We do very little to interfere with them...but this is where the challenge takes place. Often...nearby Pokémon will investigate when I have a fight, but we make sure the field itself is protected from outside influence." Ren smiled at the two kids as they both had awestruck gazes. Even Eevee and Mightyena seemed surprised at the view as Liepard smiled when she saw the trees.

Once the elevator came to a stop, it seemed to snap Vael out of his thoughts and he laughed in amazement. "It's so pretty down here! Don't you think so Eevee?"

Ren smiled as he heard the Pokémon's eager agreement. "I'm glad you approve."

The elevator had stopped right outside a gated door that led to what Vael could only assume was the field. There was a carving in the tube that was the size of a door, and the clear glass carving slid down to expose them more fully to the air. Right away, Vael's body started to sweat just from the temperature and the humidity. As he and Alyssa followed Ren towards the gate from the elevator doors, Alyssa giggled as she saw Mightyena had already begun to pant. "Yeah this definitely isn't your natural environment is it Mightyena?" Even though he quickly shook his shaggy head Liepard, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy the feel of it and she could picture the cat just dozing in one of the trees. "I guess you could fit right in here couldn't you Liepard?"

Ren gestured to the side of the gate at Alyssa. "There are no seats here unfortunately, since we try to keep this as natural as possible, so if you could just stand on this side of the field you'll be fine and still be able to see everything."

Vael noticed how the dark feline wasn't bothered and smiled before giving her a few tender strokes before he went through the gate with Eevee, behind Ren. While Ren went to one side of the field, he went to the other. The field was a jungle type of ground, with wild growths all around it. "Hm...it looks like this is similar to Brahm's field in that the surroundings can work for or against you. We have to be on our guard Eevee."

The normal type nodded, and then watched as Ren pushed another button on the remote he had and a one of two lights turned on above the field. "This is to warn the scientists that there is going to be a Pokémon battle, as well as summoning the closest one. Every one of my people is a registered judge, so that no matter who it is that's closest, they'll be able to judge. I'll push the next button when a judge has been found and the other light will turn on, so that anybody who may have been approaching can go back to studying the Pokémon."

Vael waited until a scientist appeared in a white lab coat. There were another one or two that appeared shortly behind, but they stayed to watch with Alyssa. The one who actually arrived on the field first took off his lab coat and underneath was a judge's uniform. With a glance to Ren and the light up above to make sure it was lit up to know that a judge had been found, he received Vael's name and spoke up loud and clear. "This is a 3 on three battle between the Gym Leader Ren and the challenger Vael. Each combatant may only use one pokemon at a time. Whoever loses all three Pokémon first will be declared the winner."

Ren grinned and held out a pokeball. "Okay then Vael...who's up first?"

Vael laughed and smiled, holding out a pokeball first. "Well since I don't want to keep you waiting and I know you have a busy day. I'll start with this one first! Come on out Vulpix!" He threw the ball and out came Vulpix, shooting a small bout of flame from her muzzle before sitting comfortably and cutely on the field, looking around at her surroundings.

Ren smiled and nodded. "I can see you have plans to finish this quickly, but you'll find that as a grass type gym leader, I am not going to be quite so easily defeated by fire. Come on out Lilligant" He tossed his pokeball gently and upon landing on the soft turfy ground of the field, Lilligant appeared. She waved softly with a smile to Eevee, who she had the pleasure of meeting last night, smiling at Vulpix on the field.

Vael chuckled. "Even in battle, she looks as graceful and serene as she did on that couch." He gave a small blush as the Lilligant winked to him before bashfully gripping her grassy skirt. "But a battle is a battle, and I don't plan to lose. Vulpix...let's get ready to battle."

Ren nodded and smiled. "I agree. Good luck Vael. I'll even give you the opportunity to go first Vael."

"Thanks Ren!" Vael had checked Vulpix's moves last night and found out she knew Flamethrower, Extrasensory, Safeguard, and Confuse Ray. In his eagerness to get the battle over, he knew just what to do. "Start it off with a Flamethrower Vulpix."

Ren smiled broadly. "Lilligant, dance around it and counter with a grass whistle."

Lilligant nodded and went on the defensive as Vulpix stood up on all fours and took an offensive pose before the fire fox opened her muzzle and fired a huge burst of flame straight at her. She glided herself around the thick flame, dancing so close to the edge of the flame that she could feel its heat causing her leaves to condensate and nothing more. Once the flame was out, she lifted her leafy hands up and blew through them, making a very haunting and beautiful melody of green musical notes that struck Vulpix across her muzzle.

Vael watched as Vulpix suddenly yawned and began to flutter her eyelids closed, her head dipping down to the ground while her body maintained its attacking pose. "No...Vulpix fight it!" He hadn't thought to use safeguard because he didn't think Ren's Pokémon would know any status moves. His calls out to Vulpix seemed wasted as the Pokémon merely dozed with her eyes shut.

Ren smiled. "I keep some statuses under my belt for that very reason. Now as much as it pains me to have your beautiful Vulpix miss this next attack, I will nevertheless continue. Lilligant. Do a beautiful Quiver Dance for the gathered spectators."

Vael didn't have anything to remove Vulpix's sleep and even if he called her back now to summon Mothim or Eevee, she would still be asleep when it came down to it, so he just watched as Ren's Lilligant gracefully danced around a bit more, the watery sheen from the flamethrower looking as if she was a melting ice type doing graceful movements and sways of her body and arms. He had to admit, he was somewhat mesmerized by the beauty of it all and even glanced over at Alyssa as she gasped in fascination when the grassy girl glowed with a white light for a moment while her stats were boosted, though he still encouraged Vulpix. "Come on Vulpix...wake up sweetie! I know you can hear me."

The fire type fluttered her eyes open slightly, still groggy as she shook her head, but it was too late as Ren called out his next attack. "Now transition to Petal Dance my sweet Lilligant." The Pokémon's movements changed and suddenly the whole jungle down where they were seemed to come alive and dance in mimicry to her attacks until a wave of petals appeared magically around her and suddenly flew like sharp blades straight at Vulpix.

"Dodge Vulpix...dodge!" Vulpix snapped fully awake, just in time to take the full brunt of the petals before she could move. The force of the attack carried Vulpix into the air and back towards Vael. With nothing to do but take the damage, he shouted out his next command. "Vulpix...shake it off and use Safeguard." Another blow like that and Vulpix would be down for the count. All he could do now was try to plan for the others to not fall under the same sleep spell.

Vulpix landed, somewhat shakily, but gave a cute little foxy roar that echoed a little bit, followed by Vulpix becoming covered in a soft blue light of protection, though the aura still hung heavy into the air as safeguard would protect all of the Pokémon in his party for some time.

Ren nodded. "While you should have started with a move like that just in case, it's better to be late than never." He looked to Lilligant, who was still lost in her dance, causing some more petals to appear and aim straight for Vulpix. "Alright Vulpix, try and shoot your flamethrower through the petals to hit Lilligant."

Vulpix nodded and shot another burst of fiery breath at Lilligant, cutting through the leaves. The fire couldn't block them all though and Vulpix took enough damage to get knocked out as she fell down and out, but not before the fox's attack hit the dancing grass type and set her on fire. Lilligant was weakened but not down and she still continued her dance of petals even though she was on fire, making the dance even more beautiful.

He called Vulpix back and then summoned Mothim who, upon appearance, began to glow with the same blue light that Vulpix had been surrounded by. "Mothim go straight for her with a Bug Bite. Expect some damage with some petals, but tear through it. We need to knock her out."

Mothim immediately flew straight towards Lilligant just as she summoned another shower of petals that flew straight towards him. He managed to dodge and weave through a fair amount of them with all the training he's been doing with Vael and the others, but there were too many to dodge them all, so he took a few cuts and scrapes from the sharp, flowery petals, but powered through and flew straight at the flower on Lilligant's head, sticking his bug-like teeth straight into her head and sucking on some nectar, managing to avoid the flames the female was covered with. He flew back away from her as she yelled out her name in pain and stopped her dancing. She stood tall, but the flames suddenly burst hotter and more numerous around her and she fell down in a faint.

Ren sighed. "Such beautiful dancing Lilligant, as pretty as ever. Well done." He looked to Vael with a smile. "1 to 1. But I plan to keep it that way. Come on out Bellossom. Let's show Vael and his Pokémon that grass types are no pushovers."

When Bellossom appeared from her pokeball, since no attack was called in conjunction with her summon, she grabbed her dress and curtseyed cutely before Vael and Mothim.

Alyssa fell into cute little giggles as she noticed the appearance and even Vael gave a small smile. "I can see that beauty is definitely a very important factor with your Pokémon. But I won't let that hold me back, no matter how pretty your Pokémon are. Mothim, go in for another But Bite."

Ren laughed. "Give that bug a dose of Leaf Storm on his way to you, my sweet smelling Bellossom."

Bellossom nodded and waved her small grass-like arms and summoned a tremendous amount of leaves out of thin air before thrusting both of them forward and firing them straight at the bug. The effort of summoning so many was harsh on the little grass type and she was visibly weakening with the force of the attack, but the leaves were as sharp as the petal blizzard before and more numerous in volume to boot. They struck Mothim dead on, but with there being so many leaves, dodging would be pointless. Instead, he tucked his butterfly-like wings in as tightly as possible with each powerful beat of them, turning into a flying bullet of a bug. He took the full brunt of the storm, but still managed to burst through and give a powerful bite to Bellossom's neck, not unlike a vampire would do. The small flower Pokémon cried out in pain as he scored a critical hit and collapsed with Mothim right on top of her, the bug far too weak after taking two powerful attacks back to back. Both Pokémon closed their eyes and fainted dead away.

Ren gasped. "What a nice hit! Consider yourself lucky there, Vael my boy. We both have one Pokémon left. So come on out Deerling."

"Thanks Ren." He watched Deerling come out and stamp her hooves like she was ready to stampede at Vael. Eevee wasted no time and jumped from her position in Vael's hood, doing a small little flip to land right on her four feet, eager to fight for Vael's cause, causing the male trainer to laugh and smile. "Alright then Eevee! Dive right in with Tackle!" Ren nodded and braced himself as if waiting for something. Deerling was on the edge too, and Vael realized what they were doing too late. "Eevee...wait!"

Eevee jumped into the air, using her agility to launch up and down towards Deerling, but Ren saw through the attack and said simply "Jump Kick!" Those proved to be the only words necessary as Deerling quickly dipped down then sprang up, using the force of her momentum to jump up to meet Eevee on all four legs, her two front legs extended out for the attack. Time almost seemed to move in slow motion as the force from the Cervine's jump rammed straight into Eevee's chest. If he didn't know any better, he could swear he heard bones break as the small normal type literally gasped as the air was knocked out of her in mid-attack. Time picked up once more and her small body flew back rapidly to land in the dirt, and it almost appeared as if she wasn't breathing. Vael knew the match was over even before the judge called it. He dashed over to Eevee and picked up her small, frail body. She didn't even open her eyes.

Alyssa, Mightyena and Liepard were by his side in seconds and even Deerling and Ren approached. "I knew the attack would be super effective, but I didn't expect poor Deerling here to hit just the right spot."

Deerling nuzzled the fainted Eevee and she opened her eyes slowly, giving a weak cry of her name before looking to Vael and closing her eyes once more. "Vael huggled her close, eyes clearly full of tears. "I knew there was always this potential for some powerful attacks like this. And it will only get worse as I get more and more badges. You did a solid hit there Deerling. It's not your fault. You...were fighting like Ren asked you to."

Ren felt around Eevee's unconscious frame and then smiled. "Pokémon are resilient. She'll heal if you get her to the Pokémon center. The only thing truly damaged is likely her pride."

Vael nodded and hugged Eevee close. "Thanks Ren. We'll get some training in, and maybe if Eevee is feeling better after the beauty contest in a couple days we'll try to avenge her pride." He gave a small smile, staying strong despite the loss he had just received. "You truly are an amazing trainer on top of all these other things. I bet if you put your mind to it, you really could unseat the elite four and take one of their spots. If you evolved Deerling, you'd have the perfect team."

Ren smiled again and patted Vael on the shoulder. "And that's precisely why I haven't done it. I have too many things going for myself right now. As one of the elite four...I wouldn't be able to do these things I do now. So I'm okay here as a gym leader. Now go...we've got some setup to deal with."

Vael nodded and stood up with the unconscious Eevee still held in his arms and her ears to his chest. "Okay then. Hey...Liepard...go ahead and keep Alyssa and Mightyena company and help them out okay. I'm sure you'll be great at helping out of they need something done with the feline grace I'm sure you wield hehe."

Liepard nodded and voiced her approval at the request, giving Eevee a gentle nuzzle to her muzzle, before tugging Alyssa away, who seemed more beat up about it than even Vael. "Hey it's okay. I didn't expect to breeze through all these gyms." He gave her a small smile. "Go help out your idol hehe." They all went back to the elevator after and Ren called Deerling back into her pokeball and he pushed the up button to head back to the surface of his gym building.

Once they were back up top, Ren, with the help of Liepard and Mightyena, pulled Alyssa away from Vael and Eevee. "You make sure she gets the best help Nurse Joy can give her."

Vael nodded, watched Ren and the two dark types guide her away from him and Eevee, and then left him alone to head to the Pokémon center on his own. He wasted no time, nearly running there in his haste to get Eevee looked at. Even when Brahm knocked her out in his water gym, she hadn't been out for long. When he stepped into the center, he hurried over to the pink haired female and her Audino. "Nurse Joy, can you please look at my other Pokémon and Eevee?"

Audino pulled a cart around and he slotted the pokeballs of Vulpix and Mothim into the cart openings, laying the still unconscious Eevee on the cart. Nurse Joy nodded and followed Audino and the cart to the backroom, leaving Vael alone.

This was the first time he had suffered such a loss. "At least it wasn't an overwhelming defeat. We took two of them down, though barely, and now we know what skills he has. We can plan better for it next time." He was talking himself down from his worry and merely sat down impatiently as he waited for his Pokémon to be treated.

The light that hung above the room where Pokémon were treated suddenly blinked off and Nurse Joy emerged soon after, smiling at him. "You have a very strong Eevee. She'll heal fine. Nothing is broken, but she was just slow to respond from being fainted because of such a hard hit. She's in the room if you want to see her." She also held out Mothim's and Vulpix's pokeballs. "Here you go."

Vael smiled and nodded, taking the two balls from her and hurrying past her and into the room. What he saw when he stepped in definitely caught him off guard. The bed Eevee had been in was empty, and the covers tossed aside. There was an open window and some stuff on the table was knocked down, indicating that she had likely jumped out. "Eevee! Eevee where'd you go!?"

Nurse Joy hurried back in after she heard him yelling for his Pokémon to see what was up, gasping when she noticed the bed empty. "I just opened the window to give her some fresh air. I didn't think she would run out. She seemed eager to see you as she constantly looked towards the room you were in when she first came back awake. I'm so sorry!"

Vael hurriedly turned around, barely hearing what she had said in his worry. "Tell me where that window opens to."

"It goes straight into the Wintergreen woods. There's a route that would take you to Mitana, but that window leads into the woods themselves, outside of the normal Route you would take. You could get lost if you don't follow the route!"

Vael shook his head. "That doesn't matter! Eevee's out there. I'm going anyway." Without a second thought and only Mothim and Vulpix in their pokeballs--since he and Alyssa had decided to stay a few days for the beauty contest, their stuff was in the room they were staying in--he climbed out the window and hurriedly ran into the depths of the woods. Nurse Joy tried to reach for him and stop him from going, but he was too fast for her and she looked out the window, trying to warn him about something, but all he cared about was Eevee, so didn't bother listening.

Joy looked at Audino. "We need to get ahold of Officer Jenny. There are wild grass types out there who don't take kindly to strangers, unless they're Ren." She frowned and headed out to phone the police officer.

Vael saw her footprints in the dirt and decided to follow them. There were patterns where her movements seemed to have interference, but he saw no other tracks. Since there were also spots of wetness between her tracks and they certainly didn't contain scents of her arousal or he would have noticed, even covered in dirt as they were, he couldn't tell what it was and began to fear that she might be bleeding from something that may have happened. He forced himself to pick up his pace to move even faster, until he suddenly burst into a clearing from the thick wood and saw Eevee laying on a large rock with her back turned away from the clearing. "Eevee! There you are!"

The small normal type turned to face him, tears streaming down her muzzle and cheeks, before she jumped from the rock as he hurried up to her and into his arms, shedding more tears as she cried into his chest.

All Vael could do was stroke her as she cried soaking his shirt with her tears as she buried her muzzle into his chest. "There there Eevee. It was just a gym battle for a core. There are people who are stronger than us...and can outmaneuver us, but that just means we'll have to grow stronger together. You don't have to feel bad at all. I'm the one who should feel bad. I told you to go in there and you paid the price for me not being able to read his moves."

Eevee looked up at him then and shook her head at him, arching up to lick his face, tearstained though her muzzle was. He could see that even if he had made a bad call, she had wanted to be able to endure the mistake for him and her eyes were full of shame that she had been beaten by a single blow.

He laughed and picked her up, holding her up in the air to look at her. "Even though I know you aren't, you could be the weakest Pokémon in the world and I would still....love you Eevee. I...I love you and don't ever want to lose you. I may have mentioned it before...but this time I mean it above all else. I know I need six Pokémon to make it to the league and the champion, and we may have nights of sexy fun with all the others, but that doesn't change the fact that if I had to choose one and only one, it would be you. I would call you my mate in a heartbeat!"

Eevee's eyes widened and she smiled, happily jumping out of his arms to tackle him and nuzzling his face when he caught her, licking him tenderly and lovingly over and over between nuzzles. She spoke in broken versions of her name, but even though he couldn't understand it, the tone obviously sounded like a term of endearment, so he assumed she probably felt the same way about him.
