Felix and the hot pocket

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" was the sound the shattered Felix's dream, early one summer afternoon. Turning over and stretching, Felix felt around on his nightstand for that annoying alarm. After about thirty seconds of trial and failure, he turned over and slammed his clenched fist on the clock. Not wanting to get up right away, Felix stretched in bed and pulled up the sheets. Yawning, he turned onto his back and looked sleepily at his ceiling. He felt so comfortable right then he figured nothing could ruin this day... he had no idea how wrong he was.

After finally getting out of bed, Felix wandered downstairs to grab something to eat. Opening every closet and drawer in the kitchen and finding nothing that looked good, he decided to go down stairs and check the basement freezer. Upon opening it, Felix saw something that looked like a box of hot pockets. Felix loved hot pockets, and readily grabbed the box and proceeded to cook one. Sitting down at his oval shaped table he began to eat the very thing that would change his life forever.

While putting his fork in the sink after completing his "hot pocket" Felix began to feel dizzy and confused. Blasts of dizziness and fatigue rushed at him as a bullet rushes out of a gun. Overwhelmed by these feeling Felix stumbled over to the nearby couch and passed out. He lay there for what seemed like hours, while dreaming of vivid colors and designs, eventually merging into one massive spinning colored vortex. In his dream Felix fell, or rather was sucked into the massive vortex. Little did he know this was not merely a dream...

Felix's dream was once again shattered by that annoying "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP," only this time there was a slight difference. The beeping was louder and more detailed, and once again Felix reached over and searched for the annoying clock. After several failed attempts he once again proceeded to turn over and slam his clenched fist on the damned device, only this time, he raised a clenched... paw?

Even though he was still groggy from that last night, he bolted upright and stared in shock at his body. He looked in the mirror at the foot of his bed only to see a cat-like creature staring back. Frozen in both fear and wonder, Felix though through recent event to attempt to make some since of all this. That moment is the very moment Felix remembered the crazy colorful dream, and the funny tasting hot pocket. Confused and curious, Felix rushed out of bed and down into the basement to open the freezer. In it, Felix saw a small brown box, which reminded him of hot pockets. He eagerly grabbed the box and flipped it upside-down to read the words which read; Quatzukul unta frmonade watucatu seditida fearlater! Some how Felix could read and understand the words, which to him read: Behold the entry ticket to ANTHROMOPALUS! Felix was even more confused than before. How could he read this unique language? How did he get turned into this cat-like creature? And was he alone?

Fearing the last questions answer Felix dashed up the stairs with feline agility and scrambled out the door. He ran to his neighbor's house and frantically pounded on the door, fearing what may answer. With Felix's new more sensitive ears her could hear footsteps approaching; he held his breath... WTF! The person who opened the door was defiantly NOT his neighbor. In place of his neighbor was a dog-like creature, and a young one at that. Now Felix was very confused but slightly relieved he wasn't the only animal creature. (Which he later found out was called anthropomorphic.)

After pleading with him, Felix managed to get the dog boy to let him in. To start polite conversation, Felix asked the dog kid his name, which turned out to be Kevin. Felix, confused as he was, asked Kevin where he was, and the answer he got was "ANTHROMOPALUS of course? !" That didn't really help Felix so he asked how he got here, and Kevin told him that he was weird, and they have always lived here. Now Felix had answers, but was even more confused than before... for some reason every one seemed to think that they had lived there all their life, along with Felix. Felix however had very detailed and specific memories of the "real world" and knew he was not from around here. Seeing no way to return home, he decided to "go with the flow" for now.

Though being transformed into an animal was weird, Felix actually kind of liked it. He was faster, stronger, and had better senses than before, plus for some reason he had incredible balance. Not really sure of where to go, Felix just wandered the neighborhood and nearby shopping center searching for answers. This dimension or whatever it was looked exactly like his world, only he didn't know the people, and the people weren't people, they were animals. He wandered around aimlessly for one or two hours, until he came upon what looked exactly like the Marrazzos shopping center from his world. Felix went inside expecting to see the shelves loaded with canned cat food or something, and was surprised to see, everything was still the same. There was still the candy isle, the bread isle, produce section and even the conveyor belts. Another surprising thing was all the different creatures. There were what looked like lemur people, bird people, dog, cat, rat, bunny, horse and like fifty other kinds of people. This world appeared to be even more diverse that home. Felix stared in awe at his surroundings; it was at this moment that he felt a paw on his shoulder.

Startled, Felix jumped and turned around only to see Kevin standing there, tail wagging. Felix was both relieved and confused. Fortunately it wasn't someone big and scary, but why had Kevin followed him here? Felix asked Kevin this, and he responded, "You looked lost and confused when you left, and so being your friend I decided to keep an eye on you, just to make sure your ok." Felix rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment, a little kid was making sure HE was ok, that seemed to be kind of backwards. However, he was grateful that Kevin DID follow him, Felix was in desperate need of a friend right now.

Felix and Kevin, apparently now "best of friends" wandered around some more, eventually ending back at Felix's house. Once inside and seated comfortably, Felix let his questions and emotions pour out. Kevin, doing his best to keep up and answer all Felix's questions, was overwhelmed. (Keep in mind, Kevin is young, about 10 years old). After hearing Felix's tale of the human world and the mystical HOT POCKET, Kevin was both amused and confused. The thought that there was a world of humans was insane, and the fact that Felix got to this world via a hot pocket was even stranger. Kevin was young and willing to believe anything though, so he accepted Felix's strange reality, with little more than a few questions. Felix was so relieved that SOMEONE was accepting of his reality that he got up and hugged Kevin. Felix would need a friend in this strange new world of ANTHROMOPALUS, to help him survive both mentally and physically.

With his new friend, Felix decided to go on a "quest for knowledge." Ironically Felix had recently played a game called "Twarp" in which the character gets warped into a new world full of aliens. Then one must go around and find out information about the new world on order to thrive and fit in. This was almost exactly like what had happened to Felix. He decided to take the advice of the game, and find out stuff about ANTHROMOPALUS, thinking t himself; "Who says video games don't help in real life?" So Felix and Kevin set of on an adventure for the day, (Kevin had to be home before dark). They searched their neighborhood and surrounding areas for every detail about this dimension, if that's even what this was.

By nightfall, after Kevin was home, Felix decided to go back to his house and get some food, and some sleep. Today, although not a complete waste, had failed to show Felix anything important that may assist his return home. Fearing hot pockets, Felix ordered some pizza, which was delivered ten minutes later by a slick looking Panther.

Felix opened the box and ate all but 1 slice; apparently being warped to another dimension builds up your appetite. As he lay in bed, Felix wondered whether or not he wanted to go back... After all life had been a drag back home, with him failing school, had very few friends, and lived in a foster home. Here, Felix lived alone, with his own house, he already had a friend, and no school that he knew of, what wasn't to like? Felix decided he was too tired to decide right now, and he needed some time to think. He decided to sleep on it, and drifted lazily off to a peaceful sleep.

"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" sounded that damned alarm again. This time Felix jumped up, turned it off, and ran to the mirror. He expected to see his normal self staring back and that crazy ANTHROMOPALUS thing had all been a dream. Instead he saw his fury catlike face staring back, and in a way he was actually RELIEVED. He still had his interesting life, not that old life he had screwed up so bad. This life was a second chance, a chance to live life how it's supposed to be lived; with fun and friends. He checked the clock which read: 11:34 am. This was a good time; it meant that Kevin would be awake, and most likely outside having fun. Upon heading outside, Felix noticed a picture hanging on the wall of "his" room, a picture of two catlike people. These two people reminded him a lot of his mom and dad. In the real world, AKA his old life, Felix's parents were dead, and he didn't have any pictures of them. Here however, he did, and that made him want to stay in this ANTHROMOPALUS world even more.

Once he had finally left the picture of who he thought were his parents, Felix headed over to Kevin's yard. There he saw Kevin and his father playing a game similar to catch. Felix called over Kevin and after a quick "see you later" to his dad, Kevin came bounding over. Felix explained to Kevin that he had decided to stay here for good, and they could stop searching for a way home. Felix had decided to stay and make a life for himself here. Kevin was thrilled to hear this news, and jumped up on Felix and licked him. (Seeing as to how Felix was new to this animal world... this was rather awkward for him.) Still, Felix interpreted this action as one of happiness and relief, so he accepted it.

After making this decision, Felix decided to make some more friends because, although Kevin was a really helpful and good friend, he was only 10. Felix wanted some friends his own age (19) and decided the park was as good place as any. So off to the park it was, Felix and Kevin headed out to the park and sat on a bench, just looking at all the anthro's playing in the grass. A wolfish creature cam over to Felix and Kevin and asked if they wanted to play, and seeing no harm, they agreed. A grand wrestling match was held. Several different "people" came over and participated and it was a grand time. Once it was all over, and the participants lay in the grass panting and staring at the clouds, they started to talk. After laying there for like thirty minutes, Felix and the wolf kid, Ray, were good friends. Ray, who was nineteen too, suggested that they hang out more often, and so it was set. Ray, Felix, and Kevin were now a group of three, a group of best of friends.

Life was good; no more crappy foster home, no more crappy school, and finally he had friends. This was the life he had been dreaming of, even wishing for. The only part he didn't specifically ask for was the new body, which by the way, ROCKED! Now he finally fit in with everyone, no longer was he an out cast. To Felix, he now had everything, and his life was missing nothing. This was the ideal life, and to him it seemed, life could get ANY better, again he was wrong... his life was about to make a change for the better.

While hanging out with just Ray the day after he'd met him, (Kevin couldn't come out today, he had stuff to do), they were crossing the street along with some others, when a truck came barreling down the road. Most people dove out of the way, but one girl, about the same age as Felix, stood frozen in fear. Thanks to Felix's new found catlike agility he managed to dive, grab her, and knock her out of the way. Felix was hit by the truck, but only slightly, enough to send him flying. Thanks again to cat like reflexes, Felix landed on his feet, barely scratched. Ray just stood there, amazed that Felix had both the courage and skill to pull that off. Felix walked over to the girl and bent over her, just as she was regaining consciousness.

She stared into Felix's beaming happy face and wondered how she was alive. Through a strong ringing in her hears, she heard Felix ask a question, but was unable to make out the words. The second time she heard more clearly, "Are you alright?" She nodded her head to show him yes, and tried to murmur the words, what happened. Again, she had to try again, with a bit more energy, and finally she managed "huh? What happened?" Ray came over and knelt beside her, noticing she was an extremely pretty fox. Ray told her that Felix had jumped back into the road to push her out of the way, and that Felix had been hit by the truck. At this the girl sat up and immediately asked where this Felix was. Ray pointed at Felix and as the fox girl turned to him, their eyes locked. She stared deep into Felix's green eyes and her stared back into her deep blue eyes. After what seemed like an eternity, they broke their gaze, and Felix managed to ask her name. She stared at Felix for a moment and then told him... her name was Tara.
