Just a story I wrote a while ago and still have not written chapter 2

Chapter 1 The Meeting

Meredith quietly shut the attic door. She tip-toed down the stairs, skipping the old creaky one, the ninth step down. She was making her way to the fridge, she hadn't eaten in days, she almost made it too. Then she heard it and knew it was him. His loud footsteps, his heavy breathing, he was probably drunk or high on drugs again. He was stumbling down the steps, he was almost right behind her. Meredith soon quickened her pace. She was at the final step down until she felt a grip on her left arm. He was holding onto her, imprinting a bruise the shape of his hand on her arm. "Father! Let Go!"she screamed as he tightened his grip. "Don't you dare talk to me like that, young lady, I am your father!" He screeched letting go of her arm and slapping her hard across the face, leaving a red welt.

That's when she ran. She sprinted towards the closet, where she always hid from her father. As she was sprinting, he grabbed her long, ash brown, hair. She continued to run, her hair ripping right out of her head. She made it to the door. She opened it and quickly slipped in, slamming the door behind her. She instantaneously spun around, and swiftly locked the door. Just as her father began pounding his fists upon the door, creating new cracks just to the left of the old ones.

He pounded on the door for what felt like hours to Meredith. She soon began thinking, wondering to herself when he would ever give up. Would the door even hold up this time? She silently prayed it would, knowing that if it didn't it would be the end of her. Finally after what felt like forever, he stopped and left. Meredith fell against the door, slowly sliding down until she collapsed at the bottom. She then broke down and cried. She wondered "Will it ever stop?". She knew it wouldn't, even if he said or promised, it wouldn't. She learned that through seventeen years of living with him. She put her hand over her heart and gripped it as if her heart was broken into a million little pieces, remembering what her father said last week,

**Last week**

*Meredith slipped into the house after working on her artwork in the garden. "Meredith?" Meredith heard her father say from what sounded like the kitchen. She flinched at the sound of her name. "Honey?" Meredith stopped in her tracks. His voice sounded steady. Could he possibly have stopped?......Her father walked from the hallway to her, stopping only four inches from Meredith. He gazed deeply into her eyes. "Meredith, darling, I've been a terrible father, Forgive me, I'm sorry." He said, tears falling from his eyes. "I'm sorry, I'll stop, okay?" He said slowly. And Meredith believed him. She nodded and went into his arms, crying into his shirt. He rubbed her back in comfort and sighed. ****

She thought he was telling the truth. Or maybe she wanted to believe he was telling the truth. After so many years of abuse and neglect, she would do almost anything to believe he would stop drinking and doing drugs. She'd force herself to believe it, even though she knew she was wrong. Maybe she just wanted it to be better. Maybe if she just tricked herself into believing it, it would come true.

Now she was sure of the thought she was always thinking of in the back of her mind, to run away. She may succeed now she thought to herself. Meredith planned it, since she lives upstairs in the attic, she can make a rope and climb out the window, she would pack what little things she had. Like primary stuff clothes, iPod, iPod charger, and her art supplies. That is all she would need, that's all she had for her whole life. But what she doesn't know is that living on your own is difficult.

She awoke at 3 am, for she knew her father would not be up at this time. She got ready wearing her sweats and a hoodie, her long, ash hair in a pony tail covered by her hood, she then got her backpack full of her possessions, she put both straps on. She then opened the window quietly. Dropped down her rope made out of sheets from her bed. Climbed down as quickly and quietly as possible so her father wouldn't hear her and when she reached the ground she sprinted as fast as she could. Only to trip and rip the sweats on a thorn bush, thus causing her to have a wound on her right ankle.

Even though she hurt herself, she just walked it off, more like sprinted it off. Still having a wound, she felt happy ,she never remembered the last time she had been that happy or happy at all. She had reached about four miles away from her home before stopping her running and wondering where she would end up in her life. A girl of only seventeen living on her own, no one to tell her what to do, no one to hurt her, anymore. Meredith soon turned her iPod on played a playlist and put it back in the pocket of her sweats. The song she started on with the playlist was 'Happiest Day of my Life'. She then started to walk, she had no destination in particular. Meredith was still in the city, it was about 7 in the morning and her ipod had died at about 6, though she didn't care. Since she was bored, she got interested in the city. She started to sketch the city and somepeople while on a bus bench she found. She had never seen so many people at once, the only people she ever saw was her late mother and abusive father. She soon saw a man in a limo looking at her. He looked so rich and powerful, his gaze was so persistent, he had eyes red as wine, luxuriant blonde hair, his clothes consisted of a black tuxedo with a Boston trilby hat. She knew nothing about people but she knew everything about clothes. He soon stopped the limo by her. "Hello miss, I couldn't help noticing how beautiful you are, but in clothing that is dirt covered and torn, would you like to come with me to get some new clothes for you,?" he spoke. He had a Australian accent, other people probably wouldn't be able to tell, but Meredith's father had an Australian accent so she could. " Um.... sure", she spoke softly. She soon got escorted to the other side of the vehicle, the chauffeur opened the door for her, she got within the limo only to see the amazement of it. She saw a bar counter, there were wines older than her, all of them were red inside the bottles. She had kept her sketchbook by her side and put it her bag, so the mysterious man would not see. Then the man in the limo stated,

"What is the name of this beautiful woman beside me?"

"Oh, well my name is Meredith Casteron." she said flattered. "And your name is?" she asked. "My name is Alexander?" he said. "What is the clothing store, we are going to?" she mentioned The driver states "A French five-star we...err.....clothing shop." "...........Okay.....then......" Said Meredith. "Where do you work madam?" stated Alexander, "I.....don't have a job, sir." she uttered. "Sorry to interrupt Mr. Martin and Miss Meredith, but we have arrived at the shop." the chauffeur said. "Wonderful" said Alexander. The limo driver opened the door for Meredith first and then Alexander. Meredith loved the scenery of the outside world, especially where the shop was. She was daydreaming of all the clothes she would try on, then Alexander interrupted that to lead her inside the store. She couldn't believe all of the beautiful.......white dresses? She then asked with confusion, "ummm Alexander, why are all the dresses white and wedding types?" He then answered, "Well, this was the only shop around in this area." "Uh....Okay" Meredith said. She looked around in the store for a dress she liked. She had her options in her mind. So I can't pick anything of color. I don't like things that aren't very modest, so lets see ,Oh! There is the one I would love to wear! The dress was a sparkly pearl white, it had lace sleeves that stopped at her elbows, and it was beaded with such pretty tourmaline jewels. She tried the dress on in the dressing room to see how it looked on her. She found that she could fit in a size 3 pretty well, and in fact the dress shaped her curves perfectly. "Alexander, I found the dress I would love to wear!" she said with excitement. "Would you like to wear it before we leave?" He spoke. "Yes!!" Meredith said, "You need some shoes and jewelry to go with the dress too. Oh I almost forgot, you must get a hair stylist along with a makeup artist." Alexander stated . "Really?!" She screamed with excitement. Meredith never had her makeup or hair done before. She always did it by herself. She then put the dress back on and then Alexander suggested she throw her sweats and her hoodie away. So she did, Alexander paid the clerk the cost for the dress. And yet again she went into the limo wearing her dress and her favorite sneakers. They then went to the shoe store. It was kinda a regular shoe store except again the products were all white. Meredith found the most prettiest shoes, they were clear glass, but they didn't break like real glass. "Alexander, I found my shoes."She stated,

"Well that's good, and madam will you please throw your other shoes away?" The store assistant said.

"Oh, sure ."

She then threw them away and then after paying the clerk they rode to the next place which was the hair stylist. She did not understand why he told her to throw them away, but she just did what he said in fear that those people may be like her father. Meredith spent half-an-hour looking through the ten books of hairstyles. She finally picked one. She decided on a swept back curly down do for her long beautiful hair. It took an hour to do the look since her hair was so thick.

"Ready to go to the last place Meredith, or do you want to go to two more places?" Alexander asked. "What would the extra place be?" Meredith said. "The Nail place." "No thank you, I don't want to ruin my dress and shoes" So now the last place to go,the cosmetologist. The look Meredith described was a natural and glossy look. So the makeup artist did that kind of look by using no lipstick just lip gloss and some fake eyelashes here and there. She was done and sweaty. Meredith looked in the mirror and was amazed at how beautiful she looked. She even felt beautiful for the first time. Her eyes were shades of pink and golds while the bronzer helped highlight her cheekbones. "Thank you so much, I look so beautiful!" Meredith said to the sweaty artist. "My pleasure."said the makeup expert. "So, Alexander what do you think?" Meredith asked impatient for the answer, "You look beautiful madam" Alexander answered with a pleasant smile upon his lips. Meredith blushed and smiled. Side by side Alexander and Meredith exited out the building. Meredith looking like she just came out of a fashion show and Alexander looking like a French model. They looked like a couple together. "So, Alexander...I don't have anywhere to stay. Could I maybe stay with you until I find a place to stay and ya know get a job?" she asked "Yes madam, for as long as you like,"Alexander then whispered to himself, "Forever in fact" "Oh thank you so much Alex, Is it OK if I call you that?" "Anything u would like to call me is alright with me" he replied with a smile. Once again getting into the limo, Alexander knew it was going to be a long drive so he called his private plane to come pick them up. "Hey, Driver, go drive this to one of my houses call me when you drop it off" Alexander said to the chauffeur. The plane arrived right at the makeup artist building. They went in and then they took off into the sky. Meredith never flew in a plane before so she was very scared of the plane taking off, but Alexander was right by her side. She didn't feel scared with him. She felt very relaxed and calm. They were at his fifth house in about an hour. Meredith ordered a drink, a chocolate mocha. She was very tired, but she wanted to stay awake because she didn't want to mess up her hair and makeup. She was looking for her bag that she accidentally forgot in the limo. She started to panic since her whole live was in that bag. "Alexander!"Meredith yelled "Yes?" he said with confusion "I can't find my bag, my whole life is in that bag!" "Well, its most likely in the limo, let me call my driver and tell him to drop it off at the house." He pulled out his flip phone and dialed the number. He then talked with the driver and replied to me' "He said that he will drop it off at the house" "Thank goodness!" she said with relief

"Umm......Do you have some paper and a pen I could borrow?" she said to Alex,

He replied "Yes I do, here" He gave her his black and white notebook and a black pen. Meredith was curious what was in his notebook so she opened it to the first page to see a glued on picture of a nude woman. She turned to the next page and she saw another nude woman. The book was full of them, she felt very uncomfortable looking through the book until she saw a few pages of poetry. She read: November 1st 2010 Her eyes as blue as the ocean sea Her lips as soft as rose petals I long to touch her smooth olive skin I long to be by her side a hold her close to my heart My desire to look into those beautiful blue eyes and never look away.

She thought to herself, I have blue eyes and olive skin and it is November, this can't be for me though. She read onto the next page:

November 2nd 2010 How beautiful she looks in her classy white dress Her shoes remind me of Cinderella Her eyes look so sad, I wonder what her past was like She looks so beautiful even if her eyes are full of sadness Walking side by side with her, the urge to resist grabbing her and never letting go.

She thought again, who is this for?, I feel that it was wrote about me, it is November 2nd also, She wanted to read the next page but there was an announcement that we would be landing soon. She didn't want to be caught reading it either so she, looked over at Alexander sitting across from her on the other side of the plane, he fell asleep. He looked so handsome even when he was sleeping, so elegant. Since he was sleeping she thought again to read the last page and she ended up reading it. The last page said:

November 2nd 2010

Her name sounds so beautiful and elegant Meredith, I wonder what her last name is I think I might be falling in love with her It doesn't matter anyways she will be marrying me Such a clueless girl but such a beautiful one I can't wait for the wedding when we land.

She was happy but sad. She had always thought she would be marrying her true love some day not some man she met on the street. As she was still thinking over her saddness, the plane announced that they would be landing in 10 minutes. She looked over at Alexander who was awaking.
