Time for Jessy to train with Jason. How will he fair against the one he now calls Dad?

Chapter 10: Dad's Training

Training with my Dad, now that's a scary thought. Don't get me wrong, Kodi is a really good fighter, but he's not quite as good as Dad is. Kodi may be physically stronger than my Dad is but he's not as fast as Dad. My Dad's speed is what makes him stronger than anyone I know with the exception of my brother Alex. I really wasn't looking forward to the next week or so of training with Dad. Not that I thought that he'd really hurt me or anything, in fact I knew he wouldn't, but it's still scary. However, I know that he and Kodi were just doing this so I could protect Brittany better and not get hurt as badly as I did when Caveman attacked.

Tuesday afternoon is when Dad got back to Brittany's house and waited for me to get out of bed before taking me and Brittany out to get some breakfast before starting my training. I know I know, afternoon isn't exactly breakfast time but when you have several nights in a row of hot sex with the person you love it's really hard to get up in the AM. We went some corner café and ate there. My Dad and I had some steak and eggs while Brittany ate some kind of peanut butter flavored cereal. The grease from the steak made me feel disgusted. I didn't expect the dish of breakfast food to have a swimming pool full of grease on it. I could feel my stomach lurch but I choked down the food. After all, a body needs protein to properly heal muscles. At least that what I read in an article online once several years ago. That didn't help the nauseous feeling in my gut though.

"Something wrong, Son?" Dad asked.

"I don't think that greasy dish is agreeing with me to well."

"Yeah, I guess you're not used to that kind of stuff. Are you?"

"No, not really, but it's alright. I'll be fine later."

"Are you sure? We don't have to start training today if you don't want to." He said with genuine concern for me.

"Yes, I'm sure. I may not feel good at the moment but I want to train. I need to train!" I said. Giving Brittany a quick glance I beckoned him to lean over the table closer to me so I wouldn't have to talk very loud, which he did. "Dad, I have to. As I am right now, if another thing like Caveman would attack, there's no way I could protect her. I have to train for her sake, I don't care if I get hurt or not, as long as she and everyone else that I care about are safe. That's what matters to me!"

"Ok, Son. We'll start training as soon as we finish here."

"Thanks!"

After we finished eating the salmonella special and cereal, we headed back the training grounds were Kodi had taken me. I was actually surprised to see that he was there waiting for us. At the time, I didn't know why he had shown up but that was made apparent to me very quickly.

"Hi, Kodi."

"Hi, Jessy. How you feeling today?"

"A little nauseous from breakfast but pretty good otherwise. You?"

"I'm fine."

"What are you doing here?"

"Jason asked me to keep helping you train, and I agreed."

"That's right, Jessy. From this point on your training is going to be pure hell." Dad said.

"What do you mean, Dad?"

"You won't just be training with me but Kodi too. You will be sparring with both of us ever day sometimes individually but mostly at the same time. You need to become a lot stronger if you want to really protect her from monsters like Caveman. Now to be fair I won't be using my right hand for the first few days and no music."

"OK! I will do my best, Dad."

"I know you will, Son. Now if you'll excuse me I want to go talk with Kodi before we get started." Dad said walking over to the black fox.

"Jessy?" Brittany queried.

"Hmm?"

"Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions about your Dad and Kodi?"

"No, not at all."

"OK! This music thing, does it really make them fight better?"

"Well, that depends on what you mean by better."

"Does it make them stronger or faster?"

"No, even though that's how the portray it. The music only makes them focus on the battle more. They can inflict more damage and move faster simply because they're more focused."

"Ok. That's interesting to know."

"Yeah, when you live with them for a few years you learn what their secret combat techniques really are!" I said to her with a chuckle.

"No doubt." She said smiling back at me. "Now what about your Dad's right hand? Why is it so special?"

"That's a fair question. Come here." I said motioning her to come stand closer to me, she did. "Look at his right hand and tell me if it looks normal to you."

"It does." She replied after a while of looking at it.

"It looks normal but it's not. That is a glove he's wearing that looks, feels, and acts like real fox skin. His real right hand is metal, just like his legs. He just doesn't show his hand until he's really mad because he'd rather keep it as a surprise for his foe."

"Oh!"

"Any more questions?"

"Yes, but they'll have to wait. They look like they're ready for you now." She said pointing them.

She was right, my Dad was motioning for me to come over to get started with day 1. What fun this was going to be.

"Alright, Jessy. It's time to get started." Dad said. "This being day one, I thought that we'd start off easy and see how it goes. If I think you're good enough, then we'll up the difficulty."

"OK, Dad, I'm ready."

As soon as I said "ready" he smirked at me and started his attack. He moved so fast I barely had time to dodge and avoid being hit in the face. His fist went right by my left cheek, it was so close I felt the wind blow from his punch. Looking at my Dad face to face, staring into his yellow eyes knowing what his intent is was really scary and creepy feeling. Seeing that cold, steely gaze looking back at me as if it he were trying to peer into my soul was really unnerving.

I furrowed my brow and retaliated with a punch of my own, which he dodged with ease. Kicks and punches were thrown back in forth throughout our session, each of us landing several of both attack types on each other. We did this for what seemed like hours. Finally, I started to make some progress and was able to successfully put mad Dad on his back. He threw a punch and missed like he did at the start but this time I grabbed him and threw him over my shoulder, slamming him hard on the ground. He made a loud sound as the wind was knocked out of him and that made me feel bad for doing that. I thought that I had hurt him really bad. Extending my paw to help him up is when I noticed that I did hurt him pretty bad. He had some blood oozing from the corners of his mouth. It wasn't a lot but I noticed it. He took my paw and I pulled him up, I tried to get him to not continue but he wouldn't listen.

"I'm fine, Jessy. I just got the wind knocked out of me." He said, panting heavily trying to catch his breath. "Let's just get back to your training. If I need to take a break, Kodi will step in."

"But, you have blood coming from.." He cut me off.

"It's just some ketchup from breakfast, Jessy. Now, get on your guard!"

"No! You're hurt and I'm not going to continue until you get looked at. Don't tell me that's ketchup pouring from your mouth when I know that it's blood. I know you didn't have ketchup this morning! Or did you forget that I was with you when you ate?" I shouted angrily at him, catching the attention of Kodi and Brittany, both of them were standing by Kodi's car.

"What happened to Jessy's dad?"

"Hmm?"

"Jessy's yelling at him, saying something about how he's not going to continue until his dad gets looked at for something."

"Oh, I don't know. Stay here while I go check it out. Ok?"

"Ok, Kodi."

Kodi walked over to us and asked what we were bickering about.

"I think he's really hurt and he says he's not but I can see the blood on his face!"

"I keep telling him that I'm fine but he won't listen to me."

Kodi stared at my dad for a long time before responding.

"Hmm. Well, Jason, there's no question about it, you're definitely bleeding from your mouth, but Jessy." Kodi stated, turning to face me. "Your dad has been through a lot worse than this. He's a big boy and can handle himself. I know it's been hard for you, losing your real parents and all, but this is one guy you don't have to worry about."

"I know, but...."

"No buts, he's fine and you've got training to do. Jason?"

"Yeah?"

"Call me when you're ready to start phase 2." Kodi said with a sneer.

Dad thought for a moment as Kodi was walking back to Brittany to let her know what had happened. It wasn't long before he called for Kodi to come back.

"Kodi!" Dad called.

"You ready?"

"Yes, I think we can start phase 2 now." Dad said looking at me with an evil looking grin.

Kodi started walking back to us but then he started to jog and then run. Except he wasn't running back to us, he was charging at me! I ducked just in time to avoid being punched by the black fox. I could feel his fist run down the length of my spine. Before I could react to his punch though I had to dodge a kick from my Dad. It was at this point, although it should've been sooner, that I realized that they were both going to attack me from now on. I guess I passed Dad's test during round 1. This was how we trained for several days after that. He and Kodi working in tandem with each other while I dodged and did my best to counter them. I was hit multiple times by both of them without even hitting one of them once. Eventually, I started to get mad, I mean really mad. My blood felt like it was boiling and my eyes burned like fire. After I got mad is when I started to land a lot of attacks on each of them without being hit by them for a change. It was weird, though, when I got that mad. I felt like the wind was blowing around me and the madder I got the more it blew. I don't think that really happened but it was just a really weird feeling.

"I think he's finally getting the hang of this, Jason." Kodi said smiling at my Dad.

"Good. It won't be long now before he's ready to make the pact." Dad said smiling back at Kodi. "There's just one more condition left before he can make it. His brothers have to be here to provide their contribution to him and they should be on their way here now. I know that Kyle is anyway and I would assume that Alex is, since Jessy left him a voice mail telling him about the bikers."

"Have you talked to Alex lately, Jason?"

"I talked to him a few months ago, when Jessy was in the hospital and told him about our plan to make them all part of our bloodline. As soon as they get here, all three of them will make the same blood pact that we made with each other all those years ago." Dad said, reminiscing about the past. "Jessy!"

"Yeah?" I said, calm now.

"That's enough, Son, your training is complete. You can relax now."

"Thanks!" I said as I rushed over to Brittany.

"You did good out there, Hon!" She said.

"Thanks, Babe." I leaned in and gave her a big kiss.

A few days later my brothers arrived and that's when Dad and Kodi told us of the plan to make us a real family. We all loved the sound of that and took the blood pact. Each of us cutting our hands deep with a knife and shaking hands with each other's cut hands to, holding paws for a long while to make sure that our blood thoroughly mixed with the others blood. Thus becoming blood relatives according to the ways of the blood pact.

The next day after we took the pact is when the bikers showed up again but this time we were ready for them.
