A short, but loving tale.

Have you ever felt like you've had a relationship with an inanimate object?

Well, I'd say that I'm pretty close to that purple sky that smiles radiantly down at me as I smile back at it every night on my back, the warm sands of the Fluorescent Coast beneath me.

If you're one who loves to observe the vastness of space, Nrydia's Fluorescent Coast is said to have the most stunning view of the stars every night.

Spectrums of purples and blues streak across the sky, stars dotting the landscape above, every now and then a juvenile cloud skirts by.

A pleasant voice intruded into my reverie, "Honey."

I turned around to see a slim fox approaching me, holding two steaming mugs in her paws.

. She leaned in to kiss me and handed me a mug and sat next to me.

The scent of chocolate filled my nostrils, and also the scent of lavender.

"Thanks, hun." I rubbed her shoulder.

Glowing blue waves gently washed up just a few feet from where we sat.

It is nearly one-thirty in the morning, and the night is so luminous... The light of the moon, the neon waves, the soft glow that came from our shack up the beach...

I raised the mug to my lips and took a sip, placing my arm around the foxwoman. She made a sound akin to a coo and nuzzled close to my chest, curling up and taking in the wonderful sights.

I kissed her forehead, "I love you sweetie."

The fox moaned and yawned, "I love you too, baby."

"Remember when we were young, Gale?" I asked her, stroking her white hair.

"Very well. We would run up and down the beach playing tag. It's where you ended up catching both me and my heart."

We both chuckled.

I rubbed my mate's shoulder with a gentle paw, "After all these years, you're still 'it.'"

I felt a paw on my chest, "Oh, Victor. You always had such a way with words."

"Gale, sweetie. I love you all the way to the moon and back. Always and forever, you will be mine. To our sixty-eighth year." I laid another kiss upon her forehead.

"Happy anniversary, Victor, sweetie. I love you." She had a warm smile on her face. "I hope you don't mind sleeping out here tonight, it's so calm..."

The elderly woman laid her head upon my lap and I gave her a long kiss, fully knowing 'twould be her last time ever doing so.

I stared up at the sky, trying to point out where exactly its newest member had found its home.

I couldn't help but smile to myself when I saw a brilliant light in a place previously void of light.

She continues to fill the universe with light, the same way she filled my life with light for sixty-eight wonderful years.
