And more for the "A Giant Problem" tail, hot off the press, straight outta my head direct to you!

"Jason, calm down!" Dr Stevenson said loudly in my ear. "Am calm!" "You are not calm, Jason! Right now you're a step away from killing someone. You damn near killed Ann back there." "Deserved it!" "Jason, no, she didn't. She baited you, yes, she's trying to treat you like an animal, yes, but she doesn't deserve to be killed over it." I just growled and continued to walk rapidly towards my home. "Slow down! You're not going to be able to see someone in time to avoid stepping on them!" "I'm fine!" "Jason! Now!" he barked I growled and slowed my pace a little, breathing hard. "Jason, you need to gain control over yourself. I know you have instincts now. I know it's hard to fight them, but you're an intelligent being and you can do it! I've watched you! Now, head for your exercise area. You need to burn some of this off before your parents see you like this." I wanted to argue with him but knew he was right. I wouldn't want mom and dad to see me like this. Even though they love me it's still not easy being near me when I'm angry. Dr Stevenson is right, I hate to admit. It's hard for me to control myself sometimes, but I can do it. I went to my excercise area and stopped in the middle of it, still breathing hard. My mind kept going back to Ann calling me an animal, wanting to do things that would hurt me deliberately. How the hell she got where she was was completely beyond me. You may not like me but to try to hurt me because you think that I'm not human? That's not right. "Set me down, Jason," Dr Stevenson said soothingly I knelt down and set my hand on the ground, then carefully opened it. He staggered out and I whined softly, worried that I'd hurt him. He took a few deep breaths, brushed himself off, then looked up at me. "Oh stop, I'm just fine." "I could have hurt you," I said, and looked him over. "Could have but didn't. I'm fine so you're going to stop worrying over it, now!" I closed my eyes and sat back. "Yes, Dr." He motioned for me to drop my head down and I did so, allowing him to rub my cheeks and ears, trying to sooth me. "Jason, you did fairly well back there all things considered." "The only reason she is alive is because of David and that HumVee." "I know that, but you still held your anger for some time, until she threatened me and called you....well, anyway. You could have done better, of course, but we will work on it." I sighed. "We have worked on it and I still get angry." "Not as, and honestly we've never prepared you for situations like this as I didn't think they would come up so quickly. That's my fault and I'm sorry Jason." "No!" He laughed. "It is Jason, but lets not start tossing blame about. What we need to do now is sort out what to do about Ann, which is really David's department, and what to do about Grant." "I refuse to work with Ann!" "I understand that, but you need to remember they do have power over you." "I am so sick of it!" "I know, Jason, but with things the way they are right now, there's little choice." I lifted my head slightly. "Unless Grant pays me enough to feed and take care of myself." Dr Stevenson grew quiet. "I suppose that's true. But at what cost otherwise?" "If he's paying me does it really matter that much? There's not many jobs for me out there." "True, Jason. I just worry he's up to something." "I'll be careful." "Jason, you sound like you've made up your mind," he said worriedly "I have! At least mostly! I'm tired of being a lab rat, a guinea pig, an experiment for their amusement!" "I've never, ever treated you that way, Jason. I've always done my best to carry out my job as humanely and as easy for you as possible." I closed my eyes. "And I thank you for it, Dr. I really do. But cant' you honestly say you'd rather just work with me otherwise and not have to do all the record keeping and whatever else they have you do? All the blood draws, samples, tests, all of it?" He smiled. "Well, I'm scientist enough to admit that there's still an attraction to getting to understand how you work and what not, Jason. But you're right, I'd never do that at your expense." I laughed quietly. "At least you're honest." "Jason, if you stay here I'll try to make sure I'm back in charge, or at least the one who works with you directly." "Thank you, Dr. I just don't want to be beholden to anyone any more." "Jason, you'd just be beholden to Grant instead of the US government. At least there are rules with the US." "Yes, and they did a great job of stopping Ann didn't they?" "We're trying to figure that out." I grumbled and laid back so I could look up at the sky. There was something soothing about just watching the clouds. "Dr, I think it's time for me to head to Grants." "We...took the liberty of calling in and saying you were not available today because of medical reasons." I growled softly. "Too dangerous, I am?" "Yes, Jason, you are or you were," Dr Stevenson said bluntly. "If you'd gone in there as you were there's no telling what would have happened. Yes, Jason, you were a threat at that time." "I'm not an animal!" He sighed. "Jason, I'm not saying that you are, but you're not human either. You're a mix of the two and no one knows exactly how to handle that as of yet." I grunted. "Just seems like I'm so dangerous that I should be chained up or something." I snorted. "Which I am, just without a physical chain." "I can't argue with you there, Jason, but at least the cage is guilded and you have your family here." "True," I admitted. "Now-" I was stopped by the sound of several vehicles approaching I let loose a soft growl and Dr Stevenson looked up at me sharply, then heard the vehicles approaching. "Damn it," he muttered. "Jason, you will stay here and let me deal with them, understand?" I glared at him. "Don't order me about!" "I'm sorry Jason, that was uncalled for. You do need to stay here and let me talk them first. Okay?" I nodded my assent and rolled away from him, then drew myself up into a crouch and watched as the various vehicles drove over to the exercise yard. A humvee pulled up and several soldiers stepped out, well armed, followed by another, this one with a turret gun on the top. My hackles started to come up at the sight, A suburban pulled up and a man with captians bars stepped out and looked at me, then looked over at Dr Stevenson who was walking towards him. "You in charge of it?" The man said in clipped tones, instantly setting me back on edge. "I help take care of HIM, yes, but he's his own person. What can I do for you captain?" The man grunted. "I've been sent to secure the situation." "By whom?" "The base commander." "I seriously doubt that Colonel Allan would have sent you over without you knowing about Jason and how to approach him! If you value your safety you'll get your men to draw back and stop pointing guns at him!" The captain narrowed his eyes. "You saying it's a threat?" "No, I'm saying that you're escalating the situation!" The captain looked up at me and I simply stared back at him. He looked away with an odd look on his face. "Is it safe?" "If you mean is the situation is safe, yes, if you get your men to withdraw. If you mean is HE a tame animal than hell no, Captain, HE is not. Jason is his own person." The captain looked at him with a sour expression. "My orders are to contain the situation." "Well then congratulations captain! Job well done, return to base for more orders," Dr Stevenson said bluntly. The captain was about to say something when his radio went off. He lifted it to his ear, listened for a moment, then grew beet red. "Yes sir!" he said and glared at Dr Stevenson. "The Colonel just called and told to stand down and to report to quarters." "Then you should do so!" He looked as if he wanted to say something and I rumbled quietly. He glanced at me, glanced at the Dr, then waved his men to return. After they were gone Dr Stevenson walked up to me. "Well done, Jason." "Do I get a treat?" He laughed. "Knock it off! I'm betting they were not acting under the Colonels direct orders. Colonel Allan rather likes you, you know." "I've talked to him a few times, yes." Dr Stevenson sighed. "You calm enough to see your parents?" "Yes sir," I said quietly. "Alright, lets go see them and let them know you're okay and figure out what to do next." "Yes sir." "Pick me up."

I hesitated a moment and then let him walk into my hand, then set off towards home.
