Also as always many thanks to my story editor Mirnehvirr for taking care of those annoying little errors.

"That does it dragon, we'll settle this once and for all!", the gryphon screeched at his draconic nemesis, his golden brow-feathers shining against the sun as he flapped his wings up and down, hovering in place. He clenched his claws in his rage. How could he dare to think that he is better than him.

"Fine by me!!!", the dragon roared back at him, his facial scales contracting in rage at the feathered idiot. "You want a fight and a fight you will get", he yelled at his opponent as he flapped violently with his wings, his green scales basking in the sun.

"The winner stays and the loser goes, deal?", the gryphon hissed the words out.

"Deal! I don't like killing, even such a creature as yourself", the dragon replied. The two had been arguing and fighting over the control of the valley for years now. It was bad enough before the pestering humans came, but now that they did, and when they started stealing all the good food, it was obvious that one of them had to go.

The dragon attacked first, diving towards his enemy, unleashing a torrent of flame at the gryphon, who had no control over the elements. Luckily for him, he was lighter, faster and more maneuverable than the dragon, he dodged the incoming flame easily by flying upwards. As soon as he saw the dragon fly by underneath him, he dove downwards, aiming his claws at the dragons back. The dragon sensed this and took a risky maneuver as he spun around and with lighting precision slashed the tip of his tail against the gryphons cheek.

The gryphon screeched and backed up, rubbing his beak as a single drop of blood flew from a small, liner cut. "Now, bad dragon", he hissed at his enemy. He knew he couldn't charge the scaly nuisance, because if he did, he would be a fried chicken. Instead, he flapped his wings violently at the dragon, sending strong wind currents at his heavy opponent.

The dragon staggered. He knew breathing fire was a bad idea, the wing would send it back at him, so he smiled as he turned around and let the wind take him. He flew upward and made a loop right behind the gryphon as he aimed to bite the back of his head.

The gryphon yelped as he realized what was coming for him, he ducked down just as the dragons maw was shutting down. He made a 360° spin in the air, accidentally hitting the dragon in the balls with his hind left foot.

The dragon roared with great agony as he returned to the place where he had previously been, holding his ball sack tight as a single tear formed from his eye.

Realizing what he had done, the gryphon spoke in shock: "I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to...", but it was too late, the dragon snapped and charged him, grabbing his arms with his, and trying to bite down at his beak, the gryphon dodged, but they were in no position to fly, so the two were soon spiraling down towards the earth. "Let go, you idiot!", the gryphon said as he kicked about, realizing they were falling to their deaths. He managed to break the dragons hold on him somehow and turned around, he thrashed violently, trying to regain altitude. He suddenly made a bird-ish squawk as he felt the dragons tail grab and pull his own. He closed his eyes as the earth got real close, expecting death. A Few moments passed, then nothing... was he dead already? He opened his eyes, seeing that he was but mere centimeters from the ground, the dragon was beating his wings strongly, trying to hold them both in the air.

"T-thanks", the griffon said as the dragon jerked him violently and sent him flying into the tree, he hit the tree with his back and yelped. "Now we are even", he heard the dragon say, "give up already?", he asked him as he approached the lying gryphon.

"NO!", the gryphon responded as he grabbed a nearby branch, it was thick and long, he swung it around and crashed it into the dragons face, causing the dragon to roar. The gryphon charged at him, hugged him, and tried the knock him off of his feet.

Luckily for the dragon, he was well prepared for such an attack and he crouched slightly, then he kicked the gryphon in the stomach with his knee, causing the gryphon to grab his stomach in pain. The dragon then punched him right on the beak, hurting both the gryphon and himself as the beak was rather tough. After that, he jumped on the gryphon and the two landed straight on the tree, which was already weakened by having a flying gryphon crash into it. The tree gave up and fell downwards, causing the two opponents to roll on the ground, before they landed in a meadow.

Both of them panted, tired from the battle. The gryphon was the first to get up to his feet, but he immediately fell down.

'I must get to the skies, fly, yes!', he thought. 'I have the advantage in the air', he thought as he flapped his wings and got a bit off the ground. He suddenly felt a pull, and saw the dragon holding his leg, he instantly started kicking the dragon with his other leg. "LET GO!", he yelled at him.

"RRRRAGH!", the dragon yelled as he pulled him violently and threw him, unfortunately for him, the griffon grabbed him as well and soon, both of them were flying. They both hit the ground painfully and bounced, and the dragon fell into the river.

Seeing his opportunity, the gryphon jumped and dashed straight to the dragon, who was being carried by the current. Unfortunately, the dragon expected that and grabbed his beak and pulled him down into the water.

"Silly bird... I don't need air to live, YOU DO!", the dragon told him telepathically as he pulled him downwards.

The gryphon panicked and kicked for his life, trying desperately to get some air, not that he was long under the water, but the dragons words sent fear through his body.

Then suddenly, both to the surprise of the dragon and the gryphon, they fell. They were too busy fighting, to notice they were approaching the waterfall. They weren't able to take flight as the water was pushing them.

With a loud roar, both of them crashed down. The dragon fell backwards onto a boulder, luckily for him, dragons didn't have spines, for if they did, he would have surely broken it (dragons have two interlocking spiral shaped bones in their torsos instead of spines). The gryphon fared no better, he fell head first and made a roll, nearly breaking his neck, the world still spun around him as he got to his feet.

"Must... reach... sky", the gryphon mumbled, trying desperately to fly with his water soaked wings, he flapped his wings as rapidly as he could and had reached the branches of the thick trees as the dragon got to his feet, still shaking from the pain.

"OH.... NO... YOU.... DON'T!", the dragon yelled and jumped at him.

Suddenly, to the surprise of both the dragon and the gryphon, a net came flying from above them, entangling them both, and they went straight to the leaf covered ground. As they hit it, the leafs fell downwards to reveal a hole, just big enough for both of them, they hit the ground with a loud *Thud*.

"Ahhhhhhh", the gryphon exhaled as he drifted into unconsciousness.

"Idiot...", the dragon said as he closed his eyes and fell into unconsciousness as well.
